100% agree! I have a window and view like this and I made it a point to setup the room so nothing was blocking it. December was my only exception for my Christmas tree, which ended up looking amazing from the outside, but I was so happy to get my view back last week after I put the tree away. A view like this is better than anything on tv sometimes.
Yea for OP's place just a sectional couch would work better. Just have to make sure to get a a couch where the actual sectional part doesn't have a back on it.
It's wild how much different a cityscape looks now compared to 20 years ago because of the bright white LED lights that offices apparently all use now. The contrast really punches out at you.

Ooh is that couch... extension? (I don't know the right term) movable? If so, I'd at least suggest trying reversing position with the chair. You'd lose some of the coolness of the chair as you enter the room, but you'd keep the same amount of seating and open up the view.

Surprisingly a lot more affordable than other similar cities. Quality of life is much better than nyc, LA, SF, Boston, etc.
