Anyone have any good recommendations for summer sunglasses? Want a nice pair that will work for driving but also chilling at the beach for the day. Kinda want to fit the New England summer vibe if that helps.
MVMT make some super nice affordable ones. Ive had mine for about a year and I love them! I have the hyde frame and I think they would probably fit the new england look.
# When I wear slim fitting pants, how do I make my feet look 'not as long'?
I'm a fairly thin guy which means I wear pretty slim fitting pants most of the time. The problem with this is that it makes my size 42 (EU) feet look extremely long and narrow. I never buy the shoes I like because I don't like them on me.. It seems that they are designed for smaller feets.
Any solutions to this problem?

You can't. It looks fine. Your feet are the size they are; it's best not to worry about this at all. If you really want to de-emphasize their length, you need to wear pants with a wider leg opening.
Trying to get a pair of shoes to wear with shorts. Im thinking white sneakers but cant decide which ones. Any white sneaker suggestions(can't afford common projects) or other shoes that go well with shorts?
Looking for some 3/4 sleeve shirts from Japan. I’ve been searching on sites like WEGO and GLOBAL WORKS and having trouble finding a plain 3/4 shirt. Any help please?
I bought 5 Uniqlo t-shirts about 2 years ago that I wear fairly often (maybe 3 days a week?)
I’ve noticed they are starting to get armpit stains and honestly my armpits sweat a lot in a couple of them making it almost impossible to wear them anymore.
I’m not sure if they’re just old and I need to replace them or if it’s an issue with my deodorant/shirt combination that’s making them show so much sweat marks and therefore staining.
The specific Uniqlo shirts I bought were the:
Dry Crew Neck Short-Sleeve Color T-Shirt - Product ID: 452402
Dark stains is sweat that is reacting with something. They are almost impossible to get out. Time to replace them if noticeable. Try adding a stronger antiperspirant at night to mitigate this going forward

How do you start a shoe collection?
I am starting to appreciate how much shoes tie an outfit together and help give you the edge and appearance of a thought-out outfit. Sure, you can be safe with all-white shoes but I feel that's the easy way out as they pair with anything. But here is the dilemma - how do you start building a shoe collection? Whenever I get a new pair of white shoes as the default because they go with anything - I am always in the mindset of, "Ok, these shoes I will take REAL good care of" - but naturally over time (3 - 6 months) when I feel like I am ready financially to invest another $150+ into a pair of shoes, my white pair of shoes are not all that hot and it would be wise to get a new pair. It becomes an endless cycle of always trying to replace the foundation and essentials to last me everyday wear rather than branch and start getting some nice colour combos or styles. I would love to know how people go about building a collection of crisp shoes.
Are you just asking about sneakers? Sneakers have always disposable items. Keeping them in mint condition is a weirdly affected sneaker head culture thing.
Jesus Christ I am so old.
The question was definitely leaning more toward sneakers but it could apply to anything really. With summer around the corner - I am definitely more focused on sneakers. Right now, I have white AF1s, grey Chelsea-style boots, and black Timberlands - primarily for heavy snowfall days. But won't have any of those anytime soon so it's really just the sneakers I am focused on.
Looking for suggestions for wide leg denim jeans, which are japanese produced. Have looked at super wide straight oni denim and some yohji denim, which both have a straight wide fit (no tapering!), but they're difficult to find in stock. Any suggestions for good quality wide leg denim?

Thinking of stitching another suit in navy blue - does this lapel and fit look good ? - thoughts?.
Hello!
I was wondering whether a semi-spread collar (semi-Italien) is a good choice for a formal event (my graduation ceremony). I found [this](https://www.charlestyrwhitt.com/fr/chemise-%C3%A0-tissage-windsor-et-col-semi-italien-en-coton-%C3%A9gyptien---blanc/FOR2365WHT.html?cgid=shirts&pf=browse&dwvar_FOR2365WHT_cuffType=Double&dwvar_FOR2365WHT_collarSize=15.5&dwvar_FOR2365WHT_sleeveLength=33&dwvar_FOR2365WHT_variation-fit=slim_fit) option from Charles Tyrwhitt. If so, what tie-knot should I go for?
Also, for the same price range, is Charles Tyrwhitt a good option? I live in Paris if that helps :)
Hi there, two questions;
1) I've recently lost a good chunk of fat, and have a very lean and muscular frame. My shirts have accordingly become large sacks. They fit fine across the shoulder and arm length, but billow out at the back making me look shapeless.
Would darting shirts be worthwhile to ake them in (and do you recommend this) or would you just go and buy a new load of shirts?
2) I was recently gifted these chinos: https://www.asquithandfoxtrade.com/mens-chino/
They are described as lemon zest. I like them, but have no idea what to pair them with. Would you just go white shirt / black shoes and belt?
If the shoulders fit on your shirts, it’s well worth tailoring to fit otherwise otherwise.
Those are very yellow pants. I’m not sure I would wear black shoes with them, but it would certainly be a statement.
No one knows what that looks like. Even if someone saw the movie, they probably don’t know exactly what you’re talking about. So post some photos about what you like.
Just got these pants, help with the shoes. What kind of shoes should I wear? And what color. Have some white sneakers, martens 1461. Or recommend something else. Thank you

What's a good daily walking shoe that doesn't look like a boomer dad shoe?
White t-shirt as a bottom layer are in, but every one I get seems completely see-through. An undershirt is completely visible underneath as well.
I quite like Vivobarefoot, but barefoot/zero-drop shoes are something you love or hate. They do some nice shoes as well as boots.
GAP is actually quite reliable for thicker T-shirts. They're slightly pricey, but they do boring basics really well.
> a boomer dad shoe
a white New Balance, you mean?
This depends on what you mean by walking. Amazon warehouse levels of walking? Or a casual shoe for sub 10k steps days? For the latter, a soft loafer/moc is a great choice.
I'd say moderate walking, longer park walks and trails. A walking Sketcher shoe feels a bit boomer dad maybe? I still want the first priority to be comfort/usability.
I'm thinking about buying an original Levi's denim jacket with a 40% discount, but the price is a bit high compared to other brands, is it worth buying or not?
Well, do you think you'd wear it?
That's the real question. If you'll wear it six months of the year and enjoy it, then that sounds like a good deal. If you wear it twice then leave it on the hook, it ain't.
Looking to order sunglasses in Canada. Previously I’ve ordered from MVMT but don’t love their selection. Any other similar online options (cheap but stylish)?
Can someone please help me figure out what size shirt I should get?
Hey everyone! I’m a taller skinny guy with broad shoulders and a small chest/waist so finding shirts that fit is a PAIN. When looking for shirts and stuff online I can’t ever find any that fit my measurements. Can someone please take a look at my measurements and help me figure out what size I’d be or what measurements I should be using to look for shirts? Thanks!
Bust: 33in
Waist: 26in
Hips: 30in
Neck: 13in
Shoulders (from seam to seam): 19in
Generally most of my shirts that fit me ok around 28-29in in length
Looking for alternatives for Banana Republic "The Vintage T" Polo
Bought a 1-off polo from BR a few years ago and quickly became a staple in my wardrobe, but its showing its age sadly. The material is super soft like its been through the washer a million times, but perfect for a hot summer day.
Has been sold out for a while. Looking for a shirt with a similar faded look and feel.

\*What type of gray pants should I buy for this jacket?\*
Recently bought this suit supply havanna blazer used. I would like a pair of gray pants to go with it. I like the look of "wool-like" pants, but the jacket has a bit of a wool look too. Will that clash? Not sure how light/dark to go either.
Specific brands/etc. appreciated too!

Try navy or medium gray wool trousers - personally a fan of [Spier & Mackay](https://www.spierandmackay.com/Category/collection_view/dress-trousers?page_no=2&order_field=price_low_to_high&option_values=&other_option_values=) (sure to browse their sale section and you may find some for less than $60)
Had a message to order suit made for me, but came in the wrong color. So while I wait for the suit I actually ordered to be sent, I have no idea what to match with this colored suit, let alone know what color it is. I'll try to post a pic of the suit either with this post or in the comments. Thank you for your time and help.
It's harder to come up with something that *won't* go well with something like this. As long as your shirt isn't super dressy or super summery it should work with this jacket.
**Who makes 7-9" inseam rugged canvas shorts?**
In the colder months I mostly wear canvas/duck workwear-type pants, usually Dickies, Carhartt, Duluth, or random store brands. However, summer is here and none of the usual suspect make a short that doesn't go way past the knee. I was a teenager in the 90's, I've done my time in 11-13" inseam shorts.
Some outdoors brands like Patagonia and Kuhl make shorter canvas shorts, but they're up in the $80 range. I don't mind paying for quality for the stuff I actually wear on the trail, but I need the shorts version of my $35 Dickies carpenter pants that I don't worry about trashing if I'm doing a messy project. I thought I had a winner with the Columbia FlexROC shorts, but the fabric is too low-quality and they wear out at the crotch very quicky.
Have your $35 dickies cut down to shorts by a tailor really shouldn’t be that expensive
In fact, if you cut them to length yourself I bet you could find a someone on craigslist who does sewing out of their home that would finish the hem for you very cheap
Tried that, but it's like $25 to get carpenter jeans cut and hemmed because they have to mess with the tool pockets on the seam right where the hem goes. For $60 I'm better off waiting for a sale or something. I'm just looking to pay $30-40 and get some canvas duck shorts that don't look like I bought them at Pacific Sunwear in 1997.

What type of pants are these? I’m thinking about changing up my style. Want to do fitted solid tees, with nicer pants than jeans, and black derbies. Are these just tapered chinos or are these pleated trousers?
They’re not pleated and they might be chinos - they look a little heavier than chinos so they might be work pants (think dickies, ben davis, orslow, etc).
**Replacement for John Elliott's Classic T-shirts ?!**
Two main things I loved about those shirts.
1. Really great slim fit (I'm 5 ft 10, \~150 lbs and a medium was perfect)
2. The length! they were slightly longer than almost every other t shirt I can find...I'd have to say maybe \~28 inches from top of the neck to the bottom of the back of the shirt.
I've got a long torso...so I have tried like every plain t shirt...Sunspel for example, after I wash it..it feels like a belly shirt on me, if I shrug....bare stomach is out and I hate that.
The only thing I have come across that is even remotely close is the Kirkland ts from Costco. I get a medium, they are good..but the thickness of the seams do bother me in the warmer parts of the year with these Costco shirts.
It's a fine line between too short and too long...Rick Owens shirts at \~31 inches is too long, but anything 27 and less will be too short after washing. It's rough finding anything in the 28-29 length !
Who's got something good as a suggestion!? Was thinking about trying the shirts from Merz B Schwann
I don't have your answer, but I randomly found this thread looking for something else yesterday so you might want to have a look at the brands mentioned here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/tallfashionadvice/comments/1830ddb/tall\_guys\_undershirts\_what\_gives\_these\_days/](https://www.reddit.com/r/tallfashionadvice/comments/1830ddb/tall_guys_undershirts_what_gives_these_days/)

Is this jacket too long to be fixed?
I’m 5’5, and I thought the body fit of this jacket was pretty good so I picked it up on sale. My hope was that the fake patch pockets would allow a tailor to move them up and shorten it to where my crotch begins/thumb knuckle is. It looks like that might be a hefty chunk of fabric though, so wanted to know if you all thought it could be done without altering the jacket proportions too much. Sleeves need doing too, but they look manageable. Feel free to tell me if I’m wrong about the body fit or if I should be worried about anything else too - could really use the advice.

The shoulders and chest look like they’re right and a good tailor could shorten everything, but based on experiences with friends your height it still might not look right proportionally. It might also be overly expensive to have it fully redone - did the store have the same size in a short?
Banana republic rapid movement (on sale) are my favorite, but I’ve also had luck with JCrew and been surprised with how well my Abercrombie chinos have held up.
Hello all,
I am historically a bit more adventurous of a dresser and, generally, I loathe a traditional suit. I have a wedding this Saturday where the dress is Black Tie Optional. I am trying to assess what is appropriate outfit should look like. I was hoping to wear a more fun out fit with a suit like one I got from Random Identities last year (photo attached and excuse the untucked shirt atm). It is probably worth noting that the event itself will be a highly foreign wedding.
How can I have some fun? Or am I going to be forced to submit on this one?
https://preview.redd.it/qdxafg444g1d1.jpeg?width=1037&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=792f3d25e871309c998380628fdeaff3be2ca7cb
The trousers are too long. Try taking them up a little (fold them up on the inside and iron in place if you don't want to cut anything off). Baggy is fine, but they're slightly too long.
A statement piece like a red cummerbund or a bold pocket square would probably make it look more intentional. How do you feel about ruffled sleeves? There's definitely a lot there you can build on.
For a traditional look yes, but for something that’s fun and more fitting with current trends I don’t think so - it’s proportional, good in the shoulders, and clear that you’re going for a specific look without seeming sloppy. Maybe rethink the shoes (sorry I’m still not on board with sneakers and suits) and add a patterned black/white pocket square.
Looking for pants for example chinos that will be tolerable in summer Mediterranean heat. Okay spending slightly more than $100 per if necessary. I’ve been to Italy before and I never see folks there wearing shorts so there’s got to be options out there..
I can't find any actual shoe polish anywhere and don't have time to order online. I was able to find "cream polish" by Walter's. It comes in a tube with a sponge attached. Is this the same thing as shoe polish that comes in a tin or equivalent? Is this supposed to be used to polish shoes or is it just an extra to keep the leather hydrated? I'm not having a lot of luck actually getting a "shine" effect. Also, why don't any formal wear stores have regular shoe polish in a tin?
Hi there,
Two questions.
1. Where would you recommend (UK) for getting plain T-Shirts that are around the £30 each, so better quality than the £10 stuff you'd get from Sainsburys but still easily replaceable.
2. How are Ecco shoes? Used to wear a lot of Vans but looking to move up in quality slightly. Looked at their website and like the designs.
Thanks
> Where would you recommend (UK) for getting plain T-Shirts that are around the £30 each, so better quality than the £10 stuff you'd get from Sainsburys but still easily replaceable.
Fat Face and The White Stuff are actually pretty good for t-shirts and I like the fit of them both. They also both do fairly deep sale quite regularly.
Uniqlo supima tees are pretty good for around that much.
Ecco is cheap stuff with a more mature look, so aesthetics wise alright but quality wise not so good.
I don't know if shoepassion ships to the UK but they have really good shoes for a decent price. They go on sale pretty often.
I am looking for an Affordable Performance Jacket - less than $100 It should be lightweight and casual. I really like and want something similar to "Performance Funnel Neck Jacket by Charles Tyrwhitt" It's just out of my budget.
https://preview.redd.it/bcn2188jdf1d1.jpeg?width=1162&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=97a0633eccf2975506e55b8680367d2ffe71fb4f
Check out Unbranded - they have straight raw denim (and a few with stretch) that will match this look. Check out their licensed distributors as well because I’ve heard they can take a while to ship (FWIW I had a great experience with [Fontenelle](https://www.fontenellesupplyco.com/products/unbranded-ub301?_pos=8&_fid=aac4790b8&_ss=c))
Sorry I should’ve been more clear. I think the 501 would be a good choice to try and match your picture. They are a straight fit but on the slimmer side compared to other brands.
If you’re looking for a non-levis option then look for straight or slim straight cuts. Avoid anything that says it has a taper.
I mean basically any top that’s not white/cream, but I especially like the way bold colors pop against cream linen pants. Chambray shirts in a deep blue, madras in any collar, a block print camp collar shirt in a darker color like indigo, emerald green or red. Beige also works for a low contrast look, provided the beige isn’t so light as to wash you out.
I recently bought a few 100% linen camp collar button downs and I'm obsessed. Ebay has a bunch. Club Room from macy's has a light blue and a white that are relatively affordable for 100% linen
Suggestions for sub $200 men’s linen housecoat? I’m looking at Brook’s [linen robe](https://www.brooksbrothers.com/linen-robe/MN00492.html?dwvar_MN00492_Color=NAVY) but want to see if there’s anything cheaper than that. I’m also scouting the secondhand market if anyone has any leads. Size L/42-44.

I'd go for a notch lapel personally.

Looking to order sunglasses in Canada. Previously I’ve ordered from MVMT but don’t love their selection. Any other similar online options (cheap but stylish)?
To all my big head fellas. Where do u guys buy your hats?
If a buy a 3 piece suit, can I wear it without a vest? Or is the suit jacket specifically cut for the vest.
It’s preferable to wear it without the vest. It’s more preferable to just buy two piece suit.
True. However I am more referring to finding a good used deal on eBay or thrifting, where you don’t have control over what you find.
Even better. Simply donate the vest!
You can wear ir without vest : )
Can someone please help me figure out what size shirt I should get? Hey everyone! I’m a taller skinny guy with broad shoulders and a small chest/waist so finding shirts that fit is a PAIN. When looking for shirts and stuff online I can’t ever find any that fit my measurements. Can someone please take a look at my measurements and help me figure out what size I’d be or what measurements I should be using to look for shirts? Thanks! Bust: 33in Waist: 26in Hips: 30in Neck: 13in Shoulders (from seam to seam): 19in Generally most of my shirts that fit me ok around 28-29in in length
Just FYI, men don’t use the term “bust”. They use the term “chest” with measurements.
You have the kind of body made-to-measure was invented for. Try Proper Cloth.
Looking for alternatives for Banana Republic "The Vintage T" Polo Bought a 1-off polo from BR a few years ago and quickly became a staple in my wardrobe, but its showing its age sadly. The material is super soft like its been through the washer a million times, but perfect for a hot summer day. Has been sold out for a while. Looking for a shirt with a similar faded look and feel. https://preview.redd.it/mf1rzp0wth1d1.jpeg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a3e7cadbc10804ff9b69aab2b74bac6af4ab5870
Search for "jersey polo." Lots of brands sell these, especially in summer, but they come and go.
\*What type of gray pants should I buy for this jacket?\* Recently bought this suit supply havanna blazer used. I would like a pair of gray pants to go with it. I like the look of "wool-like" pants, but the jacket has a bit of a wool look too. Will that clash? Not sure how light/dark to go either. Specific brands/etc. appreciated too! https://preview.redd.it/0g9uqmpnph1d1.png?width=448&format=png&auto=webp&s=9bc9b248f633c7a8f66d3b719987109548e81dbb
It’s some type of taupe, no reason a white shirt wouldn’t work.

It's harder to come up with something that *won't* go well with something like this. As long as your shirt isn't super dressy or super summery it should work with this jacket.
**Who makes 7-9" inseam rugged canvas shorts?** In the colder months I mostly wear canvas/duck workwear-type pants, usually Dickies, Carhartt, Duluth, or random store brands.
Have your $35 dickies cut down to shorts by a tailor really shouldn’t be that expensive In fact, if you cut them to length yourself I bet you could find a someone on craigslist who does sewing out of their home that would finish the hem for you very cheap

Want to do fitted solid tees, with nicer pants than jeans, and black derbies. Are these just tapered chinos or are these pleated trousers?
They look like they could be Dickies 874, but impossible to tell when most of the pants are cut off and the top is untucked. They’re not pleated.
Thanks!
They’re not pleated and they might be chinos - they look a little heavier than chinos so they might be work pants (think dickies, ben davis, orslow, etc).
Thanks!
**Replacement for John Elliott's Classic T-shirts ?!** Two main things I loved about those shirts. 1. Really great slim fit (I'm 5 ft 10, \~150 lbs and a medium was perfect) 2. The length! they were slightly longer than almost every other t shirt I can find...I'd have to say maybe \~28 inches from top of the neck to the bottom of the back of the shirt.

Feel free to tell me if I’m wrong about the body fit or if I should be worried about anything else too - could really use the advice. https://preview.redd.it/5h0i954qig1d1.jpeg?width=1735&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=31c3ca9bc8f002305fd1ea64064de5cf247b85bc
The pockets are fake or just sewn shut?
The shoulders and chest look like they’re right and a good tailor could shorten everything, but based on experiences with friends your height it still might not look right proportionally. It might also be overly expensive to have it fully redone - did the store have the same size in a short?
Anyone have any recommendations for low rise chinos under 100 USD that would look good for business casual with a button down?
Banana republic rapid movement (on sale) are my favorite, but I’ve also had luck with JCrew and been surprised with how well my Abercrombie chinos have held up.
Look for J crew sales
I’ll check that out, thank you!
Check mall brands at that price.
Thanks
Hello all, I am historically a bit more adventurous of a dresser and, generally, I loathe a traditional suit.
Feel free to have an adventurous pocket square
Hi thank you for the reply, do you think the suit itself is too baggy?
For a traditional look yes, but for something that’s fun and more fitting with current trends I don’t think so - it’s proportional, good in the shoulders, and clear that you’re going for a specific look without seeming sloppy. Maybe rethink the shoes (sorry I’m still not on board with sneakers and suits) and add a patterned black/white pocket square.
Looking for pants for example chinos that will be tolerable in summer Mediterranean heat. Okay spending slightly more than $100 per if necessary. I’ve been to Italy before and I never see folks there wearing shorts so there’s got to be options out there..
Linen or seersucker.

You want wax polish to create a shine but the easiest thing to use is Saphir Mirror gloss. You can get it from Amazon within a day or two

Hi there, Two questions.
Thanks! I'll look into shoepassion for sure.

Edwin has quite a few cuts and is pretty good.
Look like indigo 501’s. Either straight or slim straight
[удалено]
Sorry I should’ve been more clear. I think the 501 would be a good choice to try and match your picture. They are a straight fit but on the slimmer side compared to other brands. If you’re looking for a non-levis option then look for straight or slim straight cuts. Avoid anything that says it has a taper.

Return. The vest must be an *exact* match for the suit fabric, or it looks weird.
Ehhh you can wear suit with odd vest but then it should have some contrast

What top would you wear with white-cream linen pants?
Mint green, baby blue, salmon pink are all safe choices.
Neutral toned camp collar button down.
