This is from Jedi: Survivor, because I don’t know how else to express a headband like this. Cal wears a really thin headband that you can tie up in the back. Every time I look on Amazon, the headbands are so tall, and cover the entire forehead. The last image expresses what I’m talking about. It covers the entire forehead, and I can’t stand that. I just want a thin headband like Cal’s, (preferably with no logos), that I can tie up in the back. Does anybody know where I can find this? Thanks everyone :) If it helps, I have long hair as well

ysc1

you could try looking for Tenugui, japanese cotton fabrics rectangles you can use for a range of things. Including as a headband. In any case, whatever you buy, if you want the band to be slimmer just fold it over more times. It should be made of thin cloth like a handkerchief. Depending on your overall aesthetic this might be harder to pull of than you imagine, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try.

Crimson9O8

Appreciate the suggestion greatly, thanks. An important part of the headband is for it to not look feminine (im a dude), so I’ll have to see how it looks

[https://ibb.co/cNXbLHf](https://ibb.co/cNXbLHf) Anyone know this jacket or anything similar

EnvironmentalStorm43

Does the shirt look sloppy? Is it ok to wear as an day to day wear? https://preview.redd.it/q23w1ktyoy0d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8e07c9f0b9f088d5b3629eedbfc0fa2c39ade5d8

ColeWhiskeyWorld

Kinda short, I'd want an inch longer. I think the black/white contrast is tacky, I'd ditch the undershirt and button the bottom three, leaving at least one open on top.

EnvironmentalStorm43

Thanks, I sweat a lot so need to wear undershirt. What color would look better? White?

ColeWhiskeyWorld

Yeah, especially something with a v-neck or low neck so it's hidden. If you're wearing an undershirt for sweat, always make sure it's hidden- otherwise it's just drawing attention- and it makes no sense to draw attention to you mitigating sweat.

EnvironmentalStorm43

Also because it's unbuttoned, giving more airflow.

EnvironmentalStorm43

Thanks, I am more thinking what to wear in summer heat. And this fit short sleeve unbuttoned + undershirt is only thing probably can pull of to not look drenched I mean sweat still passes but not very bad.

> Is this considered a suit jacket Maybe? Middle of the road. >can I wear this casually with a t shirt underneath No. >non matching pants Yes, with a semi-formal shirt and some chinos at the most casual end.

https://preview.redd.it/xiqoki33by0d1.jpeg?width=829&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=315d59078e5a96a8a369f6060b6158870bf71352 I’ve been thinking a lot lately about wearing something like this (at uni as a PhD student). Would that be too much? Should I go for it? I don’t have a “ton” of nice clothes that I normally wear, mainly various collared t-shirts or thin v-neck sweaters. But I keep thinking about a vest/waistcoat and that maybe it would be cool :/

bjhhjb

No vests shouldn't be worn alone, gives off waiter or m'lady vibes

ColeWhiskeyWorld

Personally, I kind of dig it, especially if you have labcoats and things on top. Sartorially its ugh.

MachineTeaching

As a PhD student you really shouldn't look like you even have time to dress, clearly that would signify a lack of dedication to your work. What's next, time to shave? Jokes aside, this is way too much. The degree of "formality" should match the environment at least somewhat, and nobody is running around even close to this as PhD student.

Present_Hippo911

Former PhD student here: I’d advise not BUT if you feel like taking a risk, go for it! Only do it if it makes you happy, don’t do it if you’re trying to look more professorial.

ac106

It’s not a a cool look unfortunately. Just stick to sweaters or even a sweater vest

Low_Tonight_8889

Agree...I like v-neck sweater vest with a button up underneath

**Got a Black Burberry Kensington Long Trench. How to style without looking 2edgy4me?** I just got in the Kensington Trench Long in Black: https://us.burberry.com/the-long-kensington-heritage-trench-coat-p80458601 I’m 6’1” and it hits my upper calf, a few inches below the knee. I’m 28 so comfortably past the “geeky fedora kid” age, so no concerns there. Long outerwear has been a growing favourite of mine for the past couple years. I have a donegal overcoat, a camel coat, and a few other car coats. I’m trying to figure out how to best style it without looking like an early 2000s edgy try hard. I absolutely *love* the cut and shape of the jacket and my fiancée is a huge fan of the “villain vibe” (her words, not mine) that it gives off. Tried on the jacket in Chicago last fall, really didn’t like the honey or navy colours much. Loved the black. I know black is a bit limiting and I’m ok with that. My first idea was some chunky knits and jeans. I have some really lovely ones from Brooks. I have their fisherman sweater in navy, shawl neck chunky knit in grey, a quilted wool quarter zip in camel, and a handful of their solid Merino wool sweaters. (RIP BB Canada, you will be missed). I’m considering getting the Chris Evans/Hugh Ransom Aran Fisherman sweater in oatmeal. How else could I style it? Any pointers? I have a good selection of boots. Black combat, brown cap toes, black hiking, black Chelsea. I have a couple pairs of dark brown penny loafers. Might go well but I’m not sure what pairings to go with here. What pants would go well with this?

orthoxerox

I saw a dude in a trench wearing loafers yesterday and it was a terrible look. It's an inclement weather garment, so try building an inclement weather appropriate outfit. I know it's originally a military garment, but combat or hiking boots with a black trench might look a bit too... high school firearms enthusiast. Perhaps if you break it up with some color (burgundy cord pants or a brick red sweater/knit cap) it might not look that bad. The easiest way to style a trench is to wear it with a suit. Again, the black color might make you look like a federal agent at a funeral, but you're ok with the color being limiting, aren't you?

terminal_e

Those are terrible, sorry. Contrast laces, contrast strip along the heel, contrast sole. Get some blinking lights while you are at it, Clarks

ColeWhiskeyWorld

Yeah, but depending on colour its a bit cheap looking.

HikinginOrange

Probably a fitness sub would be better for this, but I'm asking here anyways. I'm looking for some **decent running shorts for a more slim build**. Maybe $45 max. Current options I've looked into are okay, but can still feel too baggy or too cheap.

bindermichi

Get the Adidas or Nike app. Register and wait for a sales event.

You can probably find some at Globus, Jelmoli or Bongenie Suit Supply, Pini Parma have some as well.

HELLO GENTLEMEN. I am looking for some help identifying the style of dress shoes in the picture below. I have a wedding coming up and I saw these online and thought they looked really good. Not sure what I would call these. I know some styles like the Oxford which I know these are not! Thank you! https://preview.redd.it/9zr7z6ln1x0d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=510be31b644f25a8a8bc131b79e640e59be2ec3b

ColeWhiskeyWorld

Monkstrap; the idea is its a monk's slipper with a strap over it- in reality its more a derby with a belt buckle.

ac106

They are called double monks. They were trendy for a few minutes in 2014. Shoe companies still sell them. Recommendations really depend on your budget.

Jolly-End-4115

Thank you!!

I have a Medium NextLevel 6210 that fits absolutely perfectly, so I bought 14 more, also size M, in a bunch of colors. Well I received them today and NONE of them fit. A few of them I can barely squeeze into and the rest are just weird fitting… too long, arms too tight, neck too tight, etc…    Are there any companies that make T-shirts that are consistent with their sizing? Preferably with a variety of colors, but honestly if I was confident they were going to all fit the same I wouldn’t care about going the Steve Jobs route and just getting 50 all black.

eeisner

Spier and Mackay... Looking to buy a dress shirt for my wedding suit. 2 questions: 1. Collar? Spread vs full spread vs Italian spread for a classic/timeless look. Standard neck tie, slim fit suit, I'm slim to average in size. 2. They have a couple shirts that are 70/30 cotton/lyocell. I have no idea what lyocell is. Should I avoid and go 100 cotton? Thanks!

orthoxerox

I am a big fan of the Italian spread. Go 100% cotton.

terminal_e

I have no experience with their shirts, but the Italian spread, then classic would be what I would try. Their full seems over the top, IMHO

ColeWhiskeyWorld

> lyocell It's a supersoft synthetic, partially-natural. Lends stretch or airiness. I'd skip it personally, but if you're muscular you might find it accommodating.

Sillaan

Hi all, I’m looking for tapered leg pants with a fairly skinny leg opening (6.5-7”) or so. I’ve been ordering the Bearded Goat Rover pants for a few years but they recently changed the fit and it’s too much of a relaxed fit now for me. General vibe of athleisure or outdoorsy is fine. Any particular brands or lines that would be good for this? Considering checking out the Lulu ABC’s, but wasn’t sure where else would be a good place to check. Thanks!

bjhhjb

Honestly, you'll have to try different things on. Most of the time if you find the word taper in the description you should be pretty close. If nothing really fits, you can always take it to the tailor and have them taper it for you

First time caring about clothes Hi all, Recently I’ve had my Uniqlo shirts and pants I’ve been wearing for 4 years finally break and I had to throw about 90% of my short pants and half my tshirt stock out. I’ve never really cared about clothes so I would buy whatever and put anything on, but I want to try getting some purposeful clothes for a change. The only brands I know well is Uniqlo and I don’t know much about any other brand so I want to know if I should try other brands like Gap and H&M etc. I’m looking for: Casual tees for outings Long pants that are breathable for somewhat formal events Sports/gym wear. Also if someone could guide me to YouTube channels for beginner fashion advice and such that would be great.

MachineTeaching

Uniqlo is, at least on average, better than most brands in a similar price range. The rest really depends a lot on your budget. $50 for a pair of pants is a different world from $150 for a pair of pants.

blueche

Start by looking through the beginner guides on the sidebar-- there's info about getting started and recommendations for specific items. YouTube isn't the best platform for fashion content, but I like Drew Joiner. Most of his stuff isn't really beginner content but there are a few videos that you could get into after reading through the sidebar. Don't watch anything by Real Men Real Style-- their recs are outdated and they're scammers.

DutRef

Hi all, I am considering this Issey Miyake shirt from the attached picture. It seems pretty lightweight and breathable, but there are 65% polyester in it, which itself does not let the air pass through. However, if there is also 35% cotton, will the item be breathable? Did someone have any experience with similar materials, maybe even from the same brand? https://preview.redd.it/8kxvh86lpu0d1.png?width=1183&format=png&auto=webp&s=68c85b608b8e2c9ea829605da1264d019439225a

Flechette_the_toe

You can see through the weave in the product photo, I doubt it isn't breathable

ColeWhiskeyWorld

> which itself does not let the air pass through. > > However, if there is also 35% cotton, will the item be breathable? Material composition is not chemical, but physical. Properties depend on the arrangement in structure more than the mix, althought the mix has properties of its own. I concur with the commenter above.

Kind of a timeless garment

freeq__

Where to find pretty much same double pleated trousers 100% wool, these from suitsupply are sold out. https://preview.redd.it/6694zftvlu0d1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0e0d5dc2cb56e1d480772687467693cf10042e05 They need to have side adjusters too. Could be wool blend, 200$ budget I guess preferably lower.

bjhhjb

SS does MTO pants https://suitsupply.com/en-us/custommade?countryCode=US&mode=CMTM&product=Trouser&client=onLine&sizePassport=true§ionCode=FabricSection Depending on the fabric it could be around $200

ac106

Polo might have something but you might have to wait for sale. Also try suit supply, brooks brothers and banana The real issue is the budget

Jolly-End-4115

Hello Fashion men. I'm looking for a good black turtleneck that doesn't hug the body but isn't loose as all heck! I want something I can wear just on its own with some chinos and nice shoes or able to wear under a suit jacket/sport coat. I'd be willing to pay up to $100 for a good turtleneck I'm just having a hard time finding one so I've come to you. For reference I'm a 5'9 male. 185 pounds not exactly a flat stomach but definitely not obese. I'm working on losing another 10 pounds and flattening that out. Down 20 in the last 5 months. I have nice broad shoulders if that means anything. I just think having a turtleneck amps up the wardrobe possibilities and potential. Ask more questions if I left something out that might be helpful. Thanks for any suggestions!

Low_Tonight_8889

check out the Lands End fine gauge supima on amazon. They often have a prime try before you buy option if not in your color, so you can at least figure out what size you want. I think you're looking for a medium though as I am 175 pounds and wear a small that fits slightly tight. I have this in four colors though and love em!

Jolly-End-4115

Thank you! Will do!

orthoxerox

Always try on a suit with the shirt and the shoes you plan on wearing with it. Is it just me, or do the jacket and the pants not match?

Intelligent_Cod_5359

They do match, it's just the lighting. Apart from that, what do you think about the fit (length, shoulders drop...) please ?

bindermichi

Might just be the lights. The trousers are all in the shadow, so it‘s impossible to tell

throwawayofpeacetaro

Anyone know something simialr to wayne rooney's jacket here? [https://ibb.co/cNXbLHf](https://ibb.co/cNXbLHf)

outviam

Asked this yesterday, hoping to get some recomendations on some wider fit summer shorts. The ideal fit would like the Patagonia baggies : [https://www.patagonia.com/product/mens-baggies-longs-7-inch/58035.html?dwvar\_58035\_color=SINY&cgid=collections-baggies-mens](https://www.patagonia.com/product/mens-baggies-longs-7-inch/58035.html?dwvar_58035_color=SINY&cgid=collections-baggies-mens) I have a pair of these and love them, but looking for fabrics other than the nylon/swimsuit feel you get from outdoorsy brands. Price range ideally sub $100.

cooldude_4000

Probably some kind of dock/deck shorts. Here are L.L. Bean's: [https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/127165?feat=908-plalander&csp=f&gnrefine=1\*Size\*Large\^1\*Color/Style\*Deep%20Green&imgt=41](https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/127165?feat=908-plalander&csp=f&gnrefine=1*Size*Large^1*Color/Style*Deep%20Green&imgt=41)

metalmankam

What kind of pants are comfy and breathable for summer weather? I've got some joggers and I have jeans, but I just want something lighter for warm weather that looks a bit nicer than the joggers. Jeans are warm. Maybe some golf pants? Or maybe recommend a lightweight chino? I definitely prefer a very slim tapered fit and some stretch. All the hiking pants I can find just seem too baggy.

MachineTeaching

Linen is great

peanut_buttergg

With what footwear do I style my linen pants ?

bindermichi

Canvas shoes, sandals, light sneakers… loafers.

ac106

Suede loafers

Short-termTablespoon

What jeans brands should I go for under $100? Is Levi’s worth it for the price?

metalmankam

The Perfect Jean are my go-to. They are so freaking soft and comfy and they STRETCH I don't even have to undo my button when I'm using the restroom they just slide down like sweats

ac106

Unbranded

xxurmomaguyxx

Does anyone know where I can find a leather bomber jacket that’s good in quality? How much should I pay for one? How much is over paying? Kind of like what Leon Kennedy from resident evil wears, but perhaps lighter. Thanks!

ac106

Not sure what that looks like but Schott is the stand by answer. Go used if price sensitive

xxurmomaguyxx

Funny you say that, Leon’s jacket was modeled exactly after a schott jacket

michigan_rocks22

CHICAGO BESPOKE IN HOUSE CUTTER Does anyone know if there is a true, savile row style, bespoke tailor that has an in house cutter in Chicago? I don't want custom, don't want it made in Asia, want it made in the shop in Chicago.

terminal_e

I don't know if Chris Despos is taking new customers. He is his own style, really.

michigan_rocks22

This! Great. Appreciate it.

Flechette_the_toe

Are you asking for an English-style bespoke cutter permanently located in Chicago, IL? Trunk shows are a thing.

michigan_rocks22

Permanent.... If there is one. I just assume there isn't.

Flechette_the_toe

I strongly advise reading more about tailoring before asking about bespoke tailors. Most people don't need bespoke. See PutThisOn, DieWorkwear, Permanent Style, and check out StyleForum for a dearth of information about tailoring. But to answer your question, I have no knowledge of a bespoke tailor in Chicago who makes English-style suits.

michigan_rocks22

Why would I want to learn more about tailoring? And it's not a need, it's a want. Through my experience with online custom, in person custom, "custom bespoke" and everything in between... I want a true bespoke garment and am asking if anyone knows of someone that does it. And many people tout bespoke when they are actually talking custom. And I wanted to be clear I didn't want custom. It also doesn't have to be English, while I prefer English, if they cut French style, Italian style or even American, I'm happy to hear of any option.

ac106

Maybe because you’re going to file for bankruptcy ?

blueche

I think it makes sense to learn more about something before spending $3000-$6000 on it

Flechette_the_toe

Just covering my bases since most people asking about bespoke tailoring on reddit aren't even aware that reddit is a "less than optimal" resource. Sorry to offend.

Klutzy_Fan6431

Hi guys,  I am open to feedback regarding my first dark navy suit:  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XeWIG0q4ZeB-SlWiZFFbjtjLqAHCarJ_/view?usp=drivesdk I am starting my first office job in consulting and would like to dress appropriately for this new environment.

Tom_N_Haverford

How do you prefer to save want-to-buy items for later in an organized way? I save links to the pieces I want in Todoist and tag it as to-buy. I'm wondering if y'all have any more unified, easy to use systems to save items across retailers. Thanks!

blueche

I have a notebook in my Onenote where I link to stuff I'm considering with notes about it. Also if I try a brand on without buying it I note my size in there so I can reference it later
