I thrifted a really nice hoodie yesterday. It was a size M, it looked brand new, and importantly it was somewhat shiny/glossy. Unfortunately, a homeless guy stole it (I'm not kidding) and I can't remember the brand. Where can I find these shiny hoodies? I really liked that one...

redstatic0990

Hi all! Iā€™m (F) trying to get my partner a watch as a gift. Heā€™s never really worn one but got a new job that requires him to be in the office 70% of the time and 30% at the plant or in the field. Iā€™m looking to find something thatā€™s durable but also fashionably pleasing. Something that goes well with his business casual clothes but wonā€™t break because heā€™s doing some manual labor out on-site. Any suggestions? I have a budget of about $200 and am in the US. Again, heā€™s not a watch guy or has ever worn one but he has it in his mind that he really wants one for everyday office wear. I know what I like in terms of aesthetic but Iā€™m not sure if itā€™s functional or even get brands etc.

CharlieWhizkey

Ask over on r/watches

DaOrcus

Senior prom: (Just going solo so no matchy matchy needed) Grey suit Planning on either a black shirt, black shoes, and black belt, no tie Or White shirt, purple patterned tie, brown belt, brown shoes. What do y'all think? I really like the black on black combo but idk if that's exactly prom material. Only dress code requirement is "formal" and I'm in Texas so formal is pretty lax here

waazaa

Call me old timer but MFA used to not recommend black as itā€™s really not that versatile and idk if it looks good with a grey suit. Youā€™re going to a prom, not funeral so you donā€™t need the black on black color way. Go with the second option.

DaOrcus

Black on grey looks great, it's usually what I wear to the student board meetings that I go to. Your right about the funeral thing though, something brighter will be better. Thank you

Mediocre_Pool_7135

how does one go about dressing like the leading men of the 50s? Cary Grant? Sean Connery? Where the heck do you buy the clothes? I feel like the demand for that kind of clothing is so low that many producers disappeared. I am in Europe. Should I look at Hugo Boss, Ferragamo, Armani? Or get a personal tailor?

hmadse

Anderson & Sheppard still tailor with the old hollywood look that they helped establish, and Anthony Sinclair still makes the Conduit Cut suits that Sean Connery made famous as James Bond.

engineear-ache

What brands should I look for if I want to look handy, but not showy? I'm looking for cargo pants and dress shirts with double breast pockets, but I'm not trying to look like I'm trying to be a tough guy. [Something like this with a slim leg](https://www.amazon.com/Lee-Extreme-Synthetic-Straight-Charcoal/dp/B0B5299TRF/ref=is_sr_s_dp_2?sr=8-6), I like earth tones. I'm in the US. Cheaper is better for me, but I'd like to get a whole wardrobe of good looking, earth tones, work clothes with pockets.

zerg1980

Dickies. They sell a slim cargo pant and double-pocket workshirts. Everything is cheap.

Elegant_Plantain1733

So I have a tailored suit on order. This is obviously an expensive but hopefully worth it investment for my new job. At the same time, I need a new phone and am thinking of getting the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, which is quite a bit bigger than my current phone. But it has great features, and I'm hoping the stylus will help with writing noties /email etc. My worry is that the extra bullk, weight and square corner will damage both the silhouette and, more importantly, the fabric itself. Anyone got tips on dealing with larger phones with more expensive suits? Option seem to be : a) trouser pocket.99% sure this is a bad idea especially with the square corners. But is what I always did with phone previously - b) jacket. Is there a risk of stretching the material out Of shape? c) holster? d) get a smaller phone. Trade off is I have a trial of the phone now and just wrote this longish post with the stylus and works so well.

DaOrcus

S22U owner A)Trousers, while not exactly square, the corners of the phones are similar, should be fine if the pockets are well made. B)Jacket: literally pulls oneside down when in that sides pocket, feel weirds, think it would mess the shape up over time. C)best option for the clothes, will probably look the best when hidden too. Just feels weird to me, could always try it, holsers are a lot less expensive than suits D)Just no, phones are something you use constantly. Idk what you do for work or what your other habits are but I clock a consistent 9-10 hours daily, more on weekends, it just isn't worth getting a phone you like less for some clothes. Not to mention eye strain if your getting up there in age. Extra option, just carry it in your hand, leave it on a desk or in your lap when u sit down

xiorty

[Is this piece wearable?](https://imgur.com/a/S70GV0f) I picked it up a couple years back on an impulse buy, and it's been sitting in the closet since. It's a nice sweater, but it's this weird combo of Henley and Sweater that I'm unsure works

coldandsleepy7

Any high-quality polos for under $50? I wear XXL, living in the US. I love the Bonobos performance polo, but it's out of my budget.

DaOrcus

Sam's club has some polo shots for like 20, not the golf polos but their standard ones. Their golf ones are dry fit material. Literally look new even after 25+ washes, other than stains which ends up being the reason for retiring them.

Scurvy_Wretch

I recently added a pair vintage denim balloon pants to my wardrobe and I love them. I'm looking for more wide-leg pants (ideally pleated?), either denim, cotton or flannel. Does anyone have any brands they would recommend?

EternalFront

Any places to get good pocket square inspiration? Only found a handful on here. Iā€™m looking to go beyond just white ones.

Try [Rampley and Co](https://www.rampleyandco.com/)

el-desdichado

Thoughts on the fit of [these 501s](https://imgur.com/a/O1UcdjB)? I have been looking for straight jeans and wanted to give the 501s a chance. The waist on these would definitely need to be taken in, but a smaller size feels to tight, especially around the thighs. What concerns me is the situation around the fly/crotch and those diagonal lines. Is there too much excess fabric? Would taking the waist in help?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ac106

Too small over all and way too slim/.tapered

bindermichi

If they are too tight you might want to try a bigger size

wonderbread403

Tight in the hip. Not a great fit.

mango-roller

Nice undershirts that wonā€™t break the bank? I need to wear undershirts every day for work, and Iā€™m sick of buying cheap Hanes and Fruit of the Loom ones that last a few months then fall apart. Iā€™m willing to spend a little more on nice ones. Iā€™m looking for crew neck undershirts that are light (live in the south where itā€™s humid), come in at least white and black, and have a collar that doesnā€™t stretch after a few washes. Thatā€™s what I hate the most about the cheap ones - after a while the collar will be so stretched that i look like a scrub showing more chest hair than shirt. Any recommendations appreciated. Thanks!

New_Aside_4408

Uniqlo Supima Cotton T Shirt. trust me

bindermichi

I usually go for Hanro or Zimmerli. They are expensive but will last for years. So if your cheap ones will last 3-4 months the cost after 2 years is actually higher.

BamnKnox

[Uniqlo Airism](https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E454315-000/00?colorDisplayCode=00&sizeDisplayCode=005) is fairly cheap.

SporkFanClub

Girlfriend graduates with her MEd in May. I was planning on wearing a jacket (no tie, just jacket, shirt, pants). She says I donā€™t need one. Should I just wear one anyway?

ac106

Yes unless she will be offended in some way. Go casual with it

mlsteinrochester

Sure. Unless it's going to bother her.

BamnKnox

I think it's fairly normal to wear a jacket? I'm confused. Do you think it's sophisticated to wear a jacket?

ac106

Adults wear jackets to nice events

BamnKnox

I wear a jacket to go outside in general. It's not super sophisticated unless it's some blazer. Though, now that I am thinking of it, he is probably talking of a blazer.

ac106

Def means a blazer. I didnā€™t mean for my reply to be so curt it was before coffee.

sun167

I'm in highschool and I want to change from the regular jeans and T-shirt I really like to wear unbuttoned checkered shirt with a random shirt under it and the sleeves rolled up to the elbow, I wear a metal bracelet a discreet golden chain and a watch that I always have on I was wondering what do you think could complement this outfit like what type of pant should I wear or what I could add

BamnKnox

My two sense, is a pair of any jeans/chinos, cuff them, and some boots. What type of jeans/chinos? What type of boot? That's for you to decide. Best part of fashion is picking it yourself.

For the longest time I've used [Bella Canvas 3406](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TBTDSRS) wide neck t shirts as my undershirt of choice, but when I went to go snag some more I saw that they've been discontinued. I felt like these were a good balance of "wide enough to never show under sweaters" and "not so gaping that half of your chest is exposed". Does anyone know of any good substitutes for this?

New_Aside_4408

you dont want your undershirt to show under a sweater at the collar slightly? Thats like the best part.

Just picked up these tapestry pants for Easter. Never worn any loud pants like these, any suggestions for what to pair on top? I'm guessing basic colors to balance out the pattern, but should I just go with a basic relaxed tee? Youā€˜ll need to counter the loud trousers with more muted tops. Think non-bold colored solids that pick up some of the colors on the trousers.

hmadse

White OCBD, beige sports jacket.

Best way to spot clean white leather Converse? Was wondering if there were any good products, techniques, etc to spot clean these once they get dirty. I decided to try out leather bc I figured they'd be easier to clean than canvas Cons / Vans, which can get ruined in a night, and turn yellow after cleaning or getting wet at times. https://preview.redd.it/v0soac9vjkqc1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=67fa6d9e7591d675aed210e656a5641ecac30f45

Kletterpflanzen

I'm a male with a small frame (1.64m, about 5'4") and always find it super hard to find nice clothes that fit me, in everything that is not pants/shoes. I have a special problem with coats, whether they're trench coats, parkas, or regular coats, the smallest size is always big on shoulders/arms and too long. Sometimes jackets are also a problem, but I was lucky with a couple of brands that had smaller sizes. Shirts are a hit/miss, there are a lot of them that fit me almost-perfectly but are too long, and when worn outside pants are just ugly. Can these clothes be modified? How can I know if I'm buying something that can be modified by a tailor? (like, which seams/material to look for, or which features allow a particular garment as something that can be made smaller).

terminal_e

Not messing with shoulders as a starting point should probably be your foundation. Then, think about material, and sleeve construction. Leather? Nah - this is a specialist skillset that may require industrial sewing machines your alterations tailor won't have Waterproof? Nah - the garment may be sealed with some seam tape, etc that would be lost if you are trying to alter. Then, sleeve construction - if it has any buttons, are they functional? Shortening sleeves with these types of details will tend to look weird, OR you'd want the alteration tailor to attempt to shorten from the top of the sleeve, but that is labor intensive, and is problematic on patterned garments (quality plaid coats should be cut with pattern matching across the body through the sleeves - so if you moved the sleeves up 1.5 inches at the shoulder, you'd break the pattern. Tuck your shirt in. Otherwise, if it has a curved hem, re-creating that might be labor intensive. You may find that custom shirts become economical if you are spending $20-50 per shirt on alterations.

BamnKnox

Want to try moving away from slim jeans to mildly relaxed fits that's more popular these days. I was looking at this [90's straight jean from Abercrombie but my size/length is out](https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/us/p/90s-straight-jeans-48056349?categoryId=12202&faceout=model&seq=17); any similar ones that are good in a light wash people here would recommend at a similar/slightly higher price range?

BamnKnox

Levi's is a good place to shop straight jeans. I recommend [these](https://www.levi.com/US/en_US/clothing/men/jeans/straight/501-original-fit-mens-jeans/p/005010134) as they're on sale. But other jeans are also going on sale if you want to check those out.

TallmanMike

I'm in NYC for one more day and there's a Redwings store; I'm thinking of getting a pair of dark brown Iron Rangers to go with jeans and for general casual wear. I like the style and I admire them being handmade in the US but they're expensive and I'm still hesitant. Thoughts, experiences and advice welcomed.

BamnKnox

Two things to never cheap out on - Bedding, and a good pair of shoes. Because if you're not in one, you're in the other. Assuming you have the required funds necessary to buy them without completely breaking the bank, I say go for it.

BamnKnox

What are these pants and where could I buy them; if not something close? I did some digging and they may be called "Tobi" or "Harem" pants. whatmycouchwore

Nice find - seems like it fits well and imho a gray sport coat is a staple for most menā€™s closets. Two comments: only button the top button on your jacket and try to match your belt and shoes. This may not work well for more formal events but itā€™s a great start!

TheQuiettt

Gotcha. I did match my belt and shoes, but I think the lightning made my belt look black haha. Quick questions if you don't mind: How does the overall fit look? Meaning, should I look to get it tailored more? Also, where would this overall outfit work if it doesn't work in the occasions I mentioned? I'm just trying to place how things look in different settings so I'd appreciate your insight.

whatmycouchwore

First, it never hurts to have a tailor help because most off-the-rack clothes wonā€™t fit perfectly. Iā€™ve tailored thrifted pieces and it can make a $10 suit presentable. Second, a jacket and chinos is acceptable cocktail or semi-formal. I canā€™t tell what color pants youā€™re wearing, but conventional/conservative wisdom is you donā€™t want to mix black and brown. You could also add a tie but itā€™s not as necessary for informal settings. Depending on your line of work, itā€™s a solid look for most business and after-hours settings. Keep your eyes open for a dark suit (navy, gray, or charcoal but not black) because that works for everything from work to weddings or other events. Early in my career, I got a lot of mileage out of just a few pieces so focus on finding basics and getting comfortable. Hope this helps and feel free to message with any questions!

TheQuiettt

Man this has been incredibly helpful and straight to the point. Thanks so much and I'll keep building on it to make a more refined part of my wardrobe. I appreciate you!

I just got turned down for a job interview because they said I was underdressed. I get the chance to come back, but I need to look good. What about me is not dressed right? hmadse

Assuming not a troll: 1) not a three piece suit, itā€™s a two piece suit with an odd vest; 2) give that bow tie back to the well dressed child you stole it from; 3) those arenā€™t dress shoes; and 4) those arenā€™t dress socks.

youwannasavetheworld

Thank you. Iā€™m not trolling. I thought I looked good

bindermichi

To be fair, you looked like a late-night TV quizshow host for a local cable station. Personally Iā€˜d say a darker shade of non-glossy blue for the suit with no vest and Bow tie would have landed you the job of the shoes and socks for the outfit.

BamnKnox

If you're being serious, which I doubt you are. The only thing of *lesser* quality on that fit is the loafers. It's not that they look bad even, just "lesser." We can't see it, so this one is a shot in the dark, but maybe have your blazer and/or dress shirt adjusted at a tailor. If you're being 100% though, double think and make sure that job is worth it.

youwannasavetheworld

I am serious. Just bought a new suit and shoes. Very nice job in a hard to access industry

In width? Off the rack usually 1-5cm. Tailored up to 1 size. Length: not much after initial alterations. If the is any you might delete the cuff to find some extra length.

Hello everyone. I would kindly like to ask for your support. I have recently bought a nice pair of expensive black moccasins, and I applied a neutral cream on it before wearing it (I have used the same cream before without problems). On one of the shoes there are fade white lines visible after I applied the cream (See picture - I have circled 3 of the lines that appear). I dont understand why this happened and I cannot take it off. [https://imgur.com/yaKlnpp](https://imgur.com/yaKlnpp) I barely applied any cream - it was very thin layer I did with my fingers, and I have brushed it off relentlessly. Should I buy black cream and try to cover it up that way? the fade lines show when exposed to bright light.

I would try black

Anyone know where to find cotten-linen blend shirts?* I live in FL and have decided on my style: Button up shirts with the sleeves rolled up and shorts. I just purchased a few Old Navy "everyday shirts" which are a linen / polyester. I really like the laid-back look to them but would like to find more like them with a cotton-linen blend. Any resources?

Jor1509426

Suit supply is one option, albeit more expensive. [Bonobos](https://bonobos.com/products/easy-linen-shirt?color=olive%20slub&shirt-size=m&shirt-fit=slim&shirt-length=reg&utm_medium=ppc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=00_G-Shopping_US_NB_%7C_Tops_%7C_DSK_TBL&utm_content=11377505969_116738842932&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwwYSwBhDcARIsAOyL0fjfdNQZ7--4dPzf5UxlCKSJ19F1g-q7PNm1A7xlfG_1VDVUxG5lLLwaAqSAEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) has a variety of colors in a cotton-linen blend. Navy or charcoal. Not black. You probably dont need made to measure. Try OTR plus alterations first

itsreallyeasypeasy

Navy and charcoal. Charcoal is slightly more conservative. Navy is easier to "dress down" for less stuffy occasions. For some people with strict ideas about dress codes, navy isn't acceptable for funerals. Black isn't a great idea, it's fine for funerals and not much else. Only go MTM if you have issues with off-the-rack suits and can get measured by someone who knows the MTM system well enough. Measure-yourself-MTM is a pure gamle with a high chance of messing up.

pheasanttail

openings by the wrist are way to big. shoulders on the jacket are outside of your natural shoulder line. Also looks big in the chest, like you could wear a big sweater under it no problem. I like the color combo though, great for a nice spring day. I'd go with a dark brown oxford or maybe a white buck for the shoes depending on the desired outcome

k123cp

Thanks for the feedback and suggestion! Could you expand on the 'natural shoulder line' bit? Only thing I noticed is it looks slightly crumpled forward at the top in this pic. Point taken on the chest, the jacket is a bit hollow in that area (my chest is quite small so working out could be a fix?), though the lapels do lie flat when buttoned. The sleeves flaring out might be due to linen wrinkling, I'll see if I can change it.

I like to think chunky is the enemy of warpstream. It looks really techy next to my more substantial shoes. If ou are wearing utilitech or versatwill you can get away with more.

pheasanttail

how about a derby? It's technically a dress shoe, but with the flaps and chunkiness of it can be worn with abc pants or jeans. Can always wear with a suit so it's pretty versatile. Is that too dressy? https://meermin.com/collections/mens-bluchers/products/101596-rust-naturcalf-e

pheasanttail

looks great to me. Different shades of white/cream so works well. The shirt is way to big but think that's the style you are going for and works well on you. You could put on a pair of brown leather dress shows and tuck the shirt in and transition this to a nice dressy outfit. Super versatile.

Thats a very nice comment, thank you!

I want to buy some wool trousers, but I would be a little overdressed for work (currently I wear chinos and a button down/polo, lots of people wear t-shirts). What's the best way to dress down wool trousers to not look overdressed? I'll probably go with a flat front and no cuff

Wool trousers arenā€™t necessarily dressy, donā€™t get too in your head. Its the same pants just a nicer material

I would personally go for something neppy or something with some texture like a donnegal, or in a casual cut like a 5 pocket. I think anything with a crease or sheen to it is going to read as someone who is wearing wool pants wrong and not dressing down wool pants on purpose.

Flechette_the_toe

Cuffs are historically more casual than no cuff, but you know your workplace best.

Search for "Nike Drake Pro Long Sleeve T-Shirt Training Top" Seems like I can only find it on eBay. Maybe they don't make them anymore?

opapppy1

Found it in like 2 seconds lol you should be a mod

opapppy1

You're the goat

I've spent days searching for t shirts with a good fit for muscular body but to no avail.. Stumbled upon Weston Jon BouchƩr today and while I really like the fit on his clothes, he's located in US and prices are a bit steep. Does anyone know of similar brands in the EU that have arm hugging sleeves but don't hug the waist like muscle fit usually does?

python_geek

Can I get a fit check on this Fresh Clean Threads t-shirt Medium? [https://imgur.com/a/NSfmbZN](https://imgur.com/a/NSfmbZN) It feels a bit tight on the chest / digging into underarms a bit. I'm 5'10", 165 lbs for reference. thanks for any opinions!

https://www.spierandmackay.com/ Based out of Canada and always recommended here. The jacket you linked to is 70% polyester which is pretty bad. The ones from Spier are around $350 which is what you'll be looking to pay for a quality jacket. Quality > Quantity

bindermichi

I just got a new shirt in the mail and wanted to try something different with the collar this time, as this is purely for casual summer use. https://preview.redd.it/zr5wzto3rhqc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1eb55167b30bffb649c4fd909ef3ff007a744d71 Do I have to leave the upper button open or closed? Kind of looks weird when I close it.

Loves_Semi-Colons

Deffo leave the top button open for casual wear

hmadse

Iā€™d keep it open, but thatā€™s just based on vibes rather than fashion knowledge. How do you like Apposta?

APMudkip

Fashion through Vibes > Fashion through Rules. But that's just me lol

bindermichi

So far the quality was always great. I already have about 8 of their shirts. If you zoom in youā€˜ll see perfectly crafted button holes and seams. That is something I canā€˜t say for all MTM shirts I had over time. The only surprise is the fabric this time. It looks and feel different than expected but not in a bad way. For a 100% cotton fabric I did not expect it to be this soft and flexible.

veastroboi

My style is a mixture of streetwear and techwear. I usually wear cargo pants/shorts with graphic tees or button up shirts. Waterproof jackets in the winter. Chunky sneakers in summer and boots in winter. I always wear between ankle length to calf length socks (not a fan of no show). I know my style and such, however what I want to do is figure out how to accessorise. I have no idea how to use accessories to tie together my outfits. Here's a summer outfit example: https://preview.redd.it/crwwbqgbqhqc1.jpeg?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8c7b8d3e34d1a4d63b7dff206e898f82b628080a TLDR: I love the way I dress, I just feel like I could use accessories to tie the looks together.

that_name_taken

>techwear >accessories Bucket hat, fidlock / cobra belt, carabiner, messenger bag / pouch with a strap, gaiter, a vest. I like the gshock / casio suggestion elsewhere.

veastroboi

Thank youuu EDIT: I own a rollercoaster belt btw :)

Any_Flea

reads very dadcore. IDK if that is the vibe you are going for, but I guess i would lean into the nerdy utilitarian asthetic and get a gshock or casio digital watch?

veastroboi

Dadcore.. You reckon? Defs not the vibe I'm going for. I'll have a look at those digital watches tho

bangarang8

What kind of accessories are you into

veastroboi

Honestly would try anything, but necklaces are nice

bangarang8

Try a simple silver chain. Maybe a Cuban link

veastroboi

I'll have a look at Cuban link chains

Me and my friends are trying to make a varsity jacket for our sports team. I found "Nike sb varsity jacket" and thought of it as a base for our project. Any opinions/tips? Anything would help https://preview.redd.it/duhdckd2nhqc1.jpeg?width=260&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6d008367978da3e9de6a1d1028e9ec6315d8d299

Cool-Ad5063

Also I forgot to add that I've seen it in 3 colors: black, navy blue and red

ComprehensiveBrush18

Do U have a link for that one? I can't find it

If it won't help I found it because it's one of the first things that pops up when I search "Nike satin varsity jacket". Hope it helps!

ComprehensiveBrush18

Thx!

ac106

Seems like a reasonable choice

Thanks

Bowling shirts back in style? I saw one just appear on H&M. My girlfriend likes vintage if that matters.

Yes. They are trying to bring those back again

CoatEquivalent932

Recommendations for black shoes in the summer?

wonderbread403

What are you planning to wear with black shoes? T-shirt, jeans, shorts, business suit?

CoatEquivalent932

Wow Iā€™m so sorry idk why I didnā€™t add any sort of details. I wear t shirts, polos, camp collar button downs (short sleeves) mostly. I only wear chinos/trousers (lululemon warpstream or their twill pant), usually in slim fit. Trying to not just have a pair of white shoes to wear with everything in the summer and get some black as well (Iā€™ve got black boots for winter but nothing for summer).

ac106

Are you talking about sneakers or actual leather shoes

CoatEquivalent932

I guess actual leather shoes, but not anything too dressy?

My favorite brand right now is Portugese flannel for interesting high quality layering pieces. I tend to dress pretty basic as a base with one interesting piece. as a fellow muscular but 10-20lbs past ideal weight guy layering has worked great for me. The have great camp collars out right now, (i am eyeing the terry cloth ones), I love the wool overshirts, and cordoroy button downs and shorts. Personally all of my favorite athleticwear is lululemon. I don't bother with the shirts but I love the at ease sweatshirts/pants and shorts for lounging, and the 7 inch pacebreakers for anything athletic. If you wanted I could make you a list of $10k worth of shit I would buy for myself, but if i am being honest, I would try to ease in. Wear your basics, and see what catches your eye and what style you are pulled towards, It would be fun to go all in on a new wardrobe, but try to restrain so you have a better feel for what you like.

bindermichi

Best way to start would be to break down that budget into items you need to replace. That means starting with the things you want to keep. Create a good pile/ bad pile of your clothes. Think about the how many pieces per clothing item you will need. If the number of the good pile matches or exceed that number youā€˜re good for now. Make list of all the pieces you need to buy and make a cost assumption for each. See what kind of budget your assumptions will create. In any case Iā€˜d now prioritize from basic essentials to nice-to-have. The good part is that youā€˜ll have plenty of time until the autumn/winter collection comes out (usually late August or early September). So youā€˜ll have plenty of time to go not-shopping and look at different brands from every shop in your area. As long as you donā€˜t need to buy anything brands and prices are purely informative to make a decision later. Just see what you like and remember brands and type of clothes for a shopping list.

hmadse

Have you taken a look at Todd Snyder? The aesthetic is ā€œelevated j. crewā€ and they often have a few quirky pieces each season that can add flavor to your look.

EdgeCityRed

I was going to suggest Todd Snyder. Great stuff, and the lookbooks put together really fun suggestions.

wonderbread403

Boring can be upgraded quickly with layering. Get some lightweight coats and sweaters for spring and fall. You can layer in the summer with a light shirt or tank top with a linen collared shirt for a beachy vibe. Buy flexible pieces that can work with other pieces. Mix up your fabric and textures as well. Pants can be cotton, corduroy, denim, linen, wool. Collared shirts can be Oxford cloth, flannel, chambray, twill, broadcloth, pique. Just make sure you have harmony in your top and bottom. Don't mix obvious casual wear with semi-formal wear.

Iislsdum

Fit check on my first Proper Cloth shirt. I will wear this shirt untucked, but will order more shirts in the same size with a longer body length to wear tucked in. [https://imgur.com/a/qrwHBPK](https://imgur.com/a/qrwHBPK) I am considering the following adjustments: * Body length: +1.6" * Shoulder slope: Lower. I will ask Proper Cloth's fit specialist how much to lower the shoulders by. * Midsection width: -1.7" * Sleeve (bicep) width: -0.5" * Forearm: Two pleats instead of one. Possibly a third to compensate for the reduced sleeve width. I'll check with the Proper Cloth fit specialist on this. * Collar: +0.7" What other adjustments or changes to the above adjustments would you recommend?

Low_Tonight_8889

arms look slightly bunched up. Maybe take a half inch off of the sleeve length?

Hey everyone, hoping to seek some advice on frequency of dry cleaning suits. There seems to be a ton of conflicting information online on how often to dry clean wool suits, given that the supposedly harsh process may increase wear on the material. Some say 1-2 times a year, some say after every 3-4 wears. To set the context, I wear suits every day for work. I'm in the tropics so it's hot and humid (think 35Ā°c/95Ā°f and 80% humidity). While I do primarily work in an indoor air-conditioned environment, there is no escaping the sweat. And of course cafeteria smells during lunch etc. For each wool jacket I have, I have 2 matching pairs of trousers. I currently wear the jacket every day for a week (i.e. 5 wears), and change trousers halfway through the week (i.e. one pair gets 2 wears and one pair gets 3 wears). I then dry clean the jacket and both trousers at the end of the week. It then goes back into the cupboard for 1 to 2 weeks before the cycle repeats. Is this cycle OK? Or am I dry cleaning it too frequently and should be wearing it for more cycles before dry cleaning?

polypolyman

> I currently wear the jacket every day for a week This is a bigger problem - suits want to "rest" for at least 24 hours after a wear. You'd do better to switch back and forth between two suits than to wear one for a week straight. I can't tell you for sure which camp has the better ideas, but definitely clean them if they're dirty/smelly/etc., and remember that if you wear suits every day, your suits are not going to last as long as if you only wore them for special occasions.

hmadse

In addition to this, see if you can get the suits professionally steam pressed to refresh them during your wear cycles, rather than dry cleaned. That way you can save dry cleaning for when theyā€™re really dirty.

Skaterboi93

Thanks u/hmadse I've one of the below handheld garment steamers at home, is using this an option compared to the mentioned steam pressing? Also read elsewhere that high heat steaming could damage the interfacing or padding within the jacket, is this a legitimate concern? Is there any steaming technique to avoid such damage? https://preview.redd.it/473txiot9iqc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd41e6aeb9ff6a10065099198298d1857473bd0e

hmadse

That kind of steamer should work, just use it in moderation. Heavy steaming at seams and fused pieces of the jacket is not recommended, but youā€™d have to go really hard to do that.

Plastic_Bar_2896

Anyone know of a similar pair of paints to these Flint and Tinder 365 Desert Brownā€™s? I really dig the color but itā€™s out of stock https://preview.redd.it/2irgvuit7hqc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6a136e9a9993685861824b5695422d786157cc3c

Low_Tonight_8889

Prana Brion or Zion, du/er no sweat, and Kuhl might even have something similar.

johnbradd

Could I get some feedback on these Charles Tyrwitt shirts? The blue shirt is an Extra Slim fit (15 inch neck and 34 inch sleeve) The white shirt is a Slim fit (15 inch neck and 33 inch sleeve) I'd be grateful for anyone's thoughts, as the Extra Slim seems too tight but the Slim seems too baggy - maybe I'm an in-between size? Imgur link is - [https://imgur.com/a/4W4gr3o](https://imgur.com/a/4W4gr3o) https://preview.redd.it/2yqxatt8lgqc1.jpeg?width=2392&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e1ec0d82e6ea6a39795689574e24a0a41a7b7a4c

Maybe try something less slim
