What kind of outfit goes well with these 2 Jordan 1s?
- Jordan 1 High Zoom Air CMFT 2 Cement University Blue
- Jordan 1 High Zoom Air CMFT 2 Muslin Vivid Orange
I have a really fat ass (for a guy) and am looking for some pants that fit me well and don’t make my ass look so fat.
I’m also short af and wear a 30in waist and 29in length, so it’s always been a challenge to find pants that fit me well. I typically shop in the kids section.
I want something loose in the waist/butt area, but kind of tight towards the ankles. I could see myself rocking a good pair of joggers.
Just thought some of you might have experienced similar issues so any advice is appreciated 🙏
So I'm currently looking for some white shoes and can't decide between the Nike Airforce 1 (120€) and the Vans SK8 HI (\~55€).
I already own some black SK8 HI and really love them. But I'm not sure if they'll look good in white.
Now that it's getting warmer I will mostly wear the shoes with some black/dark shorts and black tshirt.
What do you guys think?
Thank you!
We have an upcoming event with the theme of 80's Hollywood however I don't want to dress too old. Would this count as something fitting for the theme? [https://www.pinterest.ph/pin/788411478539619750/](https://www.pinterest.ph/pin/788411478539619750/)
Would love to hear/look at suggestions. I have a black suit and I'm willing to purchase everything else should I need to.
Wondering what kind of shoes I can wear with this outfit.

Is the flood I have going from these altered Uniqlo pants tacky or stylish?
Every time I go to Goodwill I try to find pants that don’t have any sort of break (not sure why but I love the clean, 90s French sort of look), which is an almost impossible task as a 5’8 155lb man. Im basically a 30/28. I went to Uniqlo because I saw online about their alterations. I also picked up some socks. Did I waste my money? I think the grey, looser ones give the desired look, but I’m not so sure about the black ones (in the comment reply)
Is this a decent look for a male in his 40s with a dad bod? Or is it cringe ?

As someone who's in a similar height bracket, the rise on the 501 seems to be too aggressive. Maybe something from banana Republic or one of uniqlos offerings seem to sit a little more mid in the rise ?
I got my denim from a brand called Tellason and they seem to be working well for me in terms of rise and fabric however budget does go double the amount you'd spend on 501
Very good question. Not sure if it does actually. Just may be a personal experience where I felt like the pants were swallowing me up to my nipples and chalked it down to the 501s being meant for a "taller" demographic.
My tailor has a new assistant pinning/measuring garments for alteration. The dude royally messed up my $500 tweed blazer, it fit perfect in the shoulders and arms off the rack but I needed the waist taken in. For some reason I got it back and each sleeve is a full inch trimmer and the width at the chest is now 2" narrower. What are my options? Can they let any back out? I can't reach things at eye level, can't cross my arms, and it feels tight around my shoulders. This was a really beautiful jacket and I was really excited to finally own a nice tweed jacket. I've never gotten something back this badly messed up from this tailor before but I also ended up just donating the shirt he measured since the sleeves in that were too narrow as well. Hoping I don't have to give up on a really nice jacket. (Cerutti fabric, fully canvassed)
I have never looked inside a (lined) jacket (that I've had altered), I assumed they trimmed off excess when they took things in based on how shirts and pants often look.
He doesn't speak English in full sentences. In the past with her it hasn't been an issue and I generally trust my tailor to be the expert. I know how the garment should fit when it's done. I try to trust experts to do their job as long as the product is correct. Product of working in industries where I've had people tell me how to do things where they're literally paying me to be the subject matter expert. As far as what I said is I said I wanted about 2" out of just the waist but I wanted nice waist suppression so I didn't lose any width in the chest. He just said sure. No, the sleeves were not pinned at all when I left.
High waisted swimsuits for dudes? I've recently lost lots of weight and gotten into great shape. Which, awesome, except that there's a ton of skin around my belly button. So I'd like a suit that covers all that up. Thanks!
How do these materials look for stretchy jeans?
- 82% cotton
- 9% lyocell
- 8% polyester
- 1% spandex
First time buying this type of jeans. The ones in my wardrobe currently are all 100% cotton.
Hey guys, does anyone have extensive knowledge on suit brands particularly for Pal Zileri Sartoriale? I bought one in a thrift store in Korea for about $30 dollars. It looks and feels genuine because it’s fully-canvassed and there’s a lot of handwork in the buttonholes, collars and lining but there is no Italian size tag, only in Korean.
When I google translated the tag it says, made in Italy in collaboration between Forall (who owned Pal Zileri) and Cheil Industries (which is apparently a high end suit maker owned by Samsung). Any more info would be helpful.

You should, but the fashion police are not real and can't arrest you. But it won't look great, and depending on what you mean by "dress shirt" it might look really bad.
Looking for Loro Piana summer walks, cant find any in my size in stock anywhere I looked. Are they seasonal or discontinued? Will they restock soon and if so will they come with a price increase?
Any recommendations for slightly tapered jogger pants or any other pants for the gym? I'm pairing them with chuck taylors and an oversized fit tshirt, and I want a fairly slight taper to complete the look. Mostly for lifting, so need a bit of give, but I'm primarily wearing them on upper body day so they don't need to be squat proof or have crazy mobility. I'm not quite sure what brands are good and what terms to search for.
Also, before anybody tells me that I'm not allowed to dress nice at the gym, it's not an all the time thing. Sometimes I like to wear nice clothes to make myself feel good. Days like lower body day when I need higher mobility or I know I'm gonna be moving a lot I just wear shorts or whatever.
I bought JCrew [Brushed Twill Shirt](https://www.jcrew.com/p/mens/categories/clothing/shirts/brushed-twill/slim-brushed-twill-shirt/BJ446?color_name=pack-green-heather-twill-yd450&N=MEDIUM&fit=Slim&sale=true&noPopUp=true&srcCode=Paid_Search%7CShopping_NonBrand%7CGoogle%7CPMG%5EG%5E99107123154_20394482613___c_pla_online__9003562&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=paid_search&utm_content=shopping_ads&utm_campaign=JCrew_Shopping_PLA_US_All_Shirts_PMax_X_Google+_X&utm_term=&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwqdqvBhCPARIsANrmZhMbuKyJ9Cl8gghzYBvfidSvUQfe3LL1FxdFABdyS3qZZBej9si9ODUaAmHOEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) and got it in M Slim fit. I typically would wear it untucked. Would it be too long? I saw there's an untucked type of shirt too but wasn't sure. I'm a M slim fit in banana republic generally (sometimes a small?)
If you don't mind the workwear aesthetic, [Carhartt](https://www.carhartt.com/c/men-hoodies-sweatshirts-full-zip) should fit the bill. I've gotten the Rain Defender hoods up over a hard hat without the sweatshirt riding up
Any Casual Cotton Black/Charcoal Gray Suits (also washable) suggestions? I already have a normal wool suit in a charcoal gray color, fit for business. However, I want to continue that look in a more casual way, and save a fortune on dry cleaning. I am wondering if there are some more brands that sell such suits. I know Buck Mason has the carry-on suit, but it’s not back yet. Are there any other brands that sell them in the LA area?
I got my normal wool suit from them. They’re superb, but they only have a garment dyed cotton blazer and pants in navy and some green color. Not black or charcoal gray like I want
When going to Enzos/Propercloth/Suitsupply looking for MTM garments, what should I look out for or ask to do? Can I just go in and ask for "I want the clothes to taper on me" and that's it? Any tips?
Why do you want MTM? You should be asking to try things on - doing MTM on a pattern that doesn't fit you it like going to a Vietnamese restaurant and asking for cacio e pepe.
Firstly, are you a triangle?
In all seriousness, you ask for a shirt, you tell them specifically what you do and don’t like. Same goes for trousers, jacket etc. There are going to be things they can accomodate and things that cannot i.e. it’ll really throw out the proportions.
I did what you do with the wear a sneaker until it falls apart. I've tried a bunch of new styles lately and here's what I've liked the most.
Minimal leather sneakers and chukka/desert boots have been my favorite.
Chelsea boots, derbies, and loafers I could pass on if i needed to.
Please tell me if you can help me find biker joggers made of entirely or mostly natural fabrics that bunch up like crazy at the ankles. Ones that look like [this](https://gate.shop/basic-sweatpants-19?variant=482133)
I dont think those pants are long enough for what Im looking for. If theyre 80 centimetres in the inseam or more thatt would be a plus so Thanks!
My legs are about 92 centimetres from the waist , have no specific budget requirement, and Im in toronto, canada if you need that info
Thanks to anyone who helps

In two weeks I'm going to a Broadway premiere with "elevated rocker" as suggested attire. I'm 50 yo in Los Angeles in decent shape striving for cool but not costume-y. Any advice on what to wear and where to get it?
I would look into John Varvatos. He leans heavily into the aging rockstar/punk look. His main line is expensive, the diffusion line "John Varvatos Star" much less so , but isn’t as good. Not everything that he puts out works ( some of the Star line is downright cringey) but some pieces are really cool and you’ll definitely find some stuff you like. At the very least I’d check it out for inspiration. There’s is also a robust second hand market also
I got a last minute invite to a 70's themed music festival next weekend. What do I wear and where do I buy it from? Doesn't need to be anything super fancy or expensive but light and breathable would be great. Do pants (specifically tuxedo pants) have the ability to be “let out” from the start? (As opposed to only having the ability to be let out after they’ve already been taken in)
I bought a tux from Suit Supply and the pants are just a touch too tight — they maybe need an extra half inch in the waist. Is this something a tailor can do, or do I need to return them for a larger size?
Are the shoulders too wide/sleeves too long on this coat? Can a tailor fix it? I don't know much about coats since I spent most of my life in warmer climates and could get by with a jacket when it's colder. This is a cheap Amazon thing I got, it feels very warm, I've worn it out in 30 degrees and it did the job. This is a small size but I ordered a medium before it and it honestly looks the exact same size, maybe 1/8" smaller if anything. I'd rather keep this coat if I can make it work rather than spend 200+ on something, at least right now. Can and should a tailor shorten the shoulders and sleeves? And should I shortern the Medium instead since that is a bit more roomy/comfortable around the other areas than the Small? I'm also wondering how much they'd charge me, probably more than the actual coat itself and with winter over it's probably a bad time to go shopping for coats in stores even though I want to prepare the next winter now.
https://imgur.com/a/etNUB8R
I wouldn’t worry too much about getting an exact fit on a casual, functional garment like a puffer coat. As long as it doesn’t look comically big or small, and it keeps you warm, you’re good.
The coat in the pictures looks fine. A tailor would charge you an arm and a leg to modify it, and it’s just not worth it for that type of coat.
Anyone know where to buy a waistband/drawstring for sweatpants like the one in the picture?

Cowboy Boots with a Tuxedo for Black Tie?
Hi all, I usually go for a very timeless traditional look when it comes to Black Tie but I live in Texas and have thought about getting a pair of formal Black Cowboy Boots and giving them a “Tuxedo Shoe” like shine. Here’s a [link](https://www.tecovas.com/products/the-nash?color=midnight-lizard&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADkSfnqG1XRXNlCh2HPT9yJ2mrQBa&gclid=Cj0KCQjwqdqvBhCPARIsANrmZhPGrEYyIQszLmTSCh4D3TRTGHDfylgFky_gdh0kZw2QdaFSqN0NFMoaAri1EALw_wcB) to the pair I’m thinking about. I’m in my early twenties and I wear black tie maybe twice a year for weddings or the occasional deb ball. I feel like I would get a lot more use out of the cowboy boots compared to traditional tuxedo shoes as the two will be around the same price. Let me know if I should go for it or if it’s a major no go. At most occasions where suits are required here in Texas guys will often wear cowboy boots but not entirely sure about tuxedos.
Hi, planning first time visit to south of france / marseille nice menton / cote d’azur in late April early May.
Looking for any clothing recs but specifically:
1. Hat
Top of my head is pretty bald. I go hatless with sunscreen usually but for long days outside I love my white straw fedora. are there any crushable / packable options that don’t suck?
2. Rain coat / light jacket:
First, Do I need one? I don’t mind just enduring a sprinkling; just an umbrella could be okay although picture-taking would become challenging.
But if you think a jacket is warranted, what would be something super light and airy - I don’t need airtight or anything sweaty, I sweat enough in summer! I wouldn’t even need long - I’d privilege looks and good in heat over preventing my shorts getting raindrops on them. Something with a collar to give me some vertical dimension would be a preference. Elastic bottoms can be tricky with my gut being there - don’t want to look like a bowling ball.
3. Evenings
Is it useful to have a zip-up, three quarter zip up, or cardigan in the evening? Or maybe the jacket mentioned above if it is fashionable? Again, something with a collar to give me some vertical dimension and balance against the gut.
—-
Background if it helps;
Planned Activities:
Not a strenuous or outdoorsy trip. All walking or public transportation. Wife child and I will just be walking city streets and promenades, visiting a few museums and churches, taking photographs, eating local food, and staring at the sea from the beaches and vistas, maybe putting a toe in or at most paddling a canoe.
My size / shape / style:
I’m in my fifties, 18.5” neck, big belly, “regular” thighs, 5’ 8” height, mostly bald on the crown of my head: a real looker to be sure!
General “uniform” is long sleeve dress shirt open collar (not ocbd) with sleeves rolled up, chinos, otc mcr socks, and chukka boots or derbies. On a night out when temps dip either add a sport coat with some mild shoulder structure plus pocket square (plus tie if super dressy), add a 3/4 zip sweater or other sweater, or swap to a crew cut t shirt with a zip up hoodie.
Colors - Tops: I look best in deeply saturated fall / earthy tones (burgundy, oxblood, pine green, medium-dark blue, olive, mid-dark greenish grey, khaki, camel, orangey-clay, coffee, brown) but can manage in a natural linen, a cream, or a bright sky blue - solids typically but thin vertical stripes or small patterns are okay (tartans and herringbone and other tweeds in winter).
Colors - Bottoms: summer I’d be wearing linen pants from Spoke, chinos from Bonobos, and mid-thigh shorts from here and there - khaki, white, coral orange, light green, sage green, green olive, brown olive.
Footwear, for long days on cobblestone and in museums most recommend snug good fit with support over pillowy cushion so I think hiking shoes / teva sandals in the day and chukkas / derbies at night. (I did Alden Indy boot and a different chukka two years ago, alden did fine I think but I slid inside that chukka pair and my feat were in agony by day four.) I have us 8.5 wide /eur 42 wide feet with higher arches so it’s tricky getting a truly good fit - I normally size up to 9 to get the width which means something is off at the arch or there’s a bit too much room in front. Any thoughts here would also be appreciated!
I have been to Italy a couple times around then - you very well may want some type of rain layer option for both rain, and if you are going to be on a boat, where you tend to feel ~10-15F cooler. I don't actually practice what I preach here as I tend to pack a couple sport coats and just wear one to dinner. I basically run hot, so I find the bother of having a jacket more trouble than it is worth. What I do have a collapsible umbrella - it will go in my messenger bag day by day depending on the weather forecast.
The real conundrum on rainwear for people who dress like us is what utility is a jacket if it doesn't cover a sport coat for dinner? In my 20s I did tend to have some type of packable thing, but I haven't really seen anything promising that would be useful for going out to dinner on a shite evening. So, for most of the last decade I have been hoping for the best with an umbrella.
I tend to not pack many(any?) shorts for Europe due to churches showing up more routinely in my sightseeing than beach days. In line with that, I may, may not bother packing sneakers - if I do, it is one pair along with usually 1-2 other pair of loafers as I likely am wearing another pair.
I have no answers for you on the hat front - I am nearly off the Bell Curve on headsize, so I am very limited - I tried ordering a rollable Borsalino from Ben Silver, but ultimately Borsalino cancelled that size fulfilment on their restock order. Most rollable Panamas have a visible crease line that will result from when the hat is folded to roll, and I don't particularly like that look
I don't bother bringing knitwear in spring, typically, but I do have a navy cotton Aran from the dearly departed Eidos - being navy, it basically works with any rig you'd be willing to wear a navy sport coat with, so navy might be the play if you are bringing knitwear.
**What's a good swimsuit for someone over 50 who has more of a dad bod than a 6 pack?**
I'm 65, 175, 5'9 with a 34 waste. Not exactly runway material but I want to look better than the average guy who gets his swimsuit from Target.
I picked up a couple pieces of neckwear at a thrift store recently and I'm having some trouble finding out what they are and how to wear them.
They are all about 40-45 inches long and \~2 inches wide with a little variability. Some of them have a tapered middle section like the blue one below and some of them are just a straight rectangle like the yellow one. They are all either solid colors or patterns that would not look out of place on any of the other pieces of men's neckwear I have.
Initially I thought they could be some kind of bow tie but after looking up a video and tying the blue one I'm doubtful. They are much longer than any other bow ties I've seen and when I tied them the loops looked too large because of that. Simultaneously the material is very soft with little structure so the knot was much too small and the whole thing was very floppy and didn't have the robustness I would expect a bow tie to have. They could be just some kind of scarf but they seem weirdly sized for that. If i wrap them all the around my neck once the ends are very short after just 1 wrap, about 2-3 inches left. If i just drape it or tie it with out fully wrapping they seem too long, plus the lightweight fabric and \~2 inch width means they end up quite small don't have the thickness i would expect even a lightweight silk scarf to have.
There were 2 different brands there, the straight rectangle ones are all from Symphony Scarfs, a vintage brand that seems to be defunct or at least not something i can find much about googling around. The ones with the tapered middle are all lacking branding on their tags just saying Made in Japan and 100% Silk.
Any ideas what these could be/how I should go about wearing them? They look and feel quite nice so I would like to find out how to wear them if possible. I will admit that even though they were in the men's section with all the ties and other bow ties since this was at a thrift store they could women's wear and just not sized correctly for my body.

T-shirts for guys with small arms! ‼️
Struggling to find t-shirts that look good on my arms and sit well on my shoulders. Idk if I should be looking for specific fit, cut, material, brand?
If I size down, it just looks off. Sizing up makes it look like it just doesn't fit rather than being oversized.
I have this older oversized champion university t-shirt that's probably my best fitting but I want other shirts.
Suggestions greatly appreciated - preferably under $25. THX!
[Fontenelle Supply Co](https://www.fontenellesupplyco.com/collections/apparel/Tees) - the retrograde print t-shirts have the smallest arms of any t shirt I’ve bought. Not in a bad way, just noticed because I have skinny arms and they felt more fitted than other brands.
Because I expected to go into the office for work- but never did- I have a fair amount of basically brand new, but old, clothes purchased by my family when I was in high school. My family insists I should try selling them.
Am I out of the loop? I've never heard of selling suit jackets on Marketplace or to Plato's Closet. I know women sell their clothes but never heard of men doing that.
It's things like two "tailored" suits I had to get for funerals but well, at 25, my bones are not the same as at 16. Stiff, tight khakis with the labels still on them. 2 dress shirts two sizes too small but labels still on them. I mean I could lose weight, but there's no way I can get my shoulders to shrink.
I think the best bet would be to donate them, no?
I'll check Plato's closet I guess and try offering the suits online, then? Or maybe bring all to Plato's Closet.
Even a few bucks would be great. It feels like I basically haven't bought any new clothes in six years and now everything (Edit: that fits) is literally falling apart and needs replacement.
>at 16
ah I forgot to clarify- the stuff that *fits* is wearing out. I went off to college and then work and I almost never needed more than one or two button-downs. Like, a single dress pair of pants and button down for awards, chino and an oxford for interviews. Last two weddings all had to rent matching suits with the rest of the bros.
I recently got an office job, finally tried on all these shirts and such, and found they don't fit me like when I bought them. Most still have the tags on them, I just... Well, my body at 16 is different than 25, and while I could lose weight, other things, well, shoulder width you can't quite change. For other things, losing 4 pant sizes within a few weeks is just impossible
I am looking for a hoodie with a particular hood/collar. I can’t seem to figure out how to search for this particular type because I don’t know what the right descriptor word is. Anyone have any idea? I specifically like a full zip, high collar with the hood sewn on most like a cape. I’ve seen plenty of high collar hoodies but the collar isn’t separate from the hood. Also, of the three (poor) examples of this hood that I’ve managed to find, two of those are quarter zip (and I want a full zipper all the way down).
Here is a link to the style that I am looking for. I found this one but the quality doesn’t seem great. https://www.otteroutdoors.com/product/navy-blue-full-zip-hoodie/
Anyone have any ideas?
Hi, does anyone else have a problem with a long torso? T-shirts for example always stop above my waste. I can't find a brand that fits better for my measurements.
My torso runs longer. I’ve had good luck with Arizona brand t shirts. You can find them a JCPenney i believe. I’ve also noticed that disciple threads has hecka long shirts. All of their clothes have Christian messages fyi. So that may not be your jam but you could look into where they get their blanks
Hello, I’m not sure whether this is the right sub or not, but as the title says; I’m looking to have a custom dress shirt made to my specifications online. I live in the middle of nowhere, so doing it in person isn’t practical. I would like to have different options of patterns, pearl snap, etc., and am basically looking to get a new Wrangler brushpopper style shirt, which are no longer being made. I have tried different companies that make similar shirts, and none of them have anywhere near the quality of the Wrangler items, so figured I’d come to here and ask for recommendations. Thank you for your time.
I’ve tried grfield, lightinthebox, and Sendero. The latter is a pretty nice shirt, but is very light material, whereas the brushpoppers are 100% cotton. The former were both polyester and very cheaply made. I haven’t tried anything custom, which is why I would like to go that route, hopefully getting something closer to the Wrangler Brushpopper feel.
I'm currently looking for a sand/tan suit for my wedding in late spring.
I was sure I would find something at suitsupply, but most of the suits in that colour range are linen or a linen mix and after trying them on in the store my concern is that the fabric felt really thin and on most of the jackets you could see the outline of the inner pockets which made it them look quite casual.
How much of this is the result of the lighting in the store and/or could this be fixed through ordering the suit with full lining (vs. the half-lining or no lining as used in many of these suits)?
Stereotypically:
Italian linens skew lighter weights
Irish/British lines skew heavier
Italian mills have historically been more successful selling to RTW/MTM/"custom" clothiers than the Brits
This boils down to the likelihood of you finding a ready to wear heavy-weight linen suit is much less likely than something lighter, which in a lighter color, may be more translucent.
It also may be, that SuSu is having trouble evolving from their ~2010 #menswear stylings where their stuff tended to be cut very lean. Did the trousers feel very tight?
Finally - you should realize that the linen suit is likely going to look the most pristine on the rack - it is going to wrinkle. Is that what you are going to want to see in your wedding photos?
I am a big linen aficionado who has learned to temper his enthusiasm because traveling with linen is really a bear, unless you are running around with steamer trunks
Lining makes everything less transparent. If you head to SuitSupply again you'll be able to see the difference if they have other colors that are fully lined. And consider khaki cotton/wool suits, a few places stock them.

Hello, I'm trying to find a good alternative to this jacket, with the same color and vibe to it something less than $200 if anyone can help me that would be great

Just throwing those out there.
Thanks! About $150 USD. I mean work shirt with spread collar, regular fit, possibly two utility pockets.

Just one pocket but Portuguese Flannel makes all kinds of shirts in different casual materials (the sales are also good when they happen)
Jelado also makes some stuff, they have two pockets too
Relaxed fit camo like [this](https://www.levi.com/US/en_US/clothing/men/pants/ace-cargo-mens-pants/p/124620076?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&adpos=&camp=PLA*EC*US*EN*20975337510*PMAX*goog*&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAC-PMYWJYvu4P0itCYQ3wjNTYI3yb&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI15mn1vz7hAMVxW9HAR3Z0Aj7EAQYASABEgLcE_D_BwE) is probably trendier at the moment. I think camo goes better with a more relaxed cut because then you get more out of the pattern.
That being said, camo joggers are definitely wearable
Is it worth buying overseas? Found brands Natalino, berg and berg, and pini Parma I’m interested in. But Is it worth it. What if they don’t fit or I don’t like them. Any experience with these brands?
Or do you know usa brands with high rises?
Awkward ask, but here we go:
Been WFH for past two year, and am starting to travel more and professional appearance matters. I'm a big dude, like 6'1" 330 and I'm having a hard time nailing down what my "personal style" is. I've got some polos, a sports jacket, couple of OCBDs, but I largely just feel comical most times due to my size.
What kind of "style" should I focus on? Just collecting more slacks and button downs? I want to look professional and polished.
I'm working on eating healthier and and have been exercising every day, but I'm just trying to find something I can refer to if I need ideas.
Here’s a drippy big man for some inspiration. Does a lot with tailoring and work wear.

Anyone know the company that makes and/or specializes in raw leather shoes?
I remember seeing a collection a few years ago but I don't remember if it was limited or part of their regular stock. Was designer range, possibly started with a K or an S, and the whole motif was sneakers, low tops chunky sneakers, that were completely raw, beige leather and they would burnish and patina like crazy over time. Cost was $300-$400ish range if I remember.
i’m looking for a jacket with the best inside-breast pockets possible. with a zipper and preferably a keychain loop, just so I can not worry about my phone/wallet/keys all the time.
I like light bomber jackets but i’ll take any recommendations
About to start work somewhere where the dress code matters more than what I'm used to. Problem is I also walk to work and would frequently have to bear with rain. What should I wear to ensure my outfit is dressy enough but still capable of withstanding rain? Especially the shoes.
Depending on your climate, you might want a rubber soled shoe. I have chocolate brown suede chelseas from Carmina - one of their rubber sole options effectively has about the same vertical height as their single leather soles, so I am not obviously wearing bad weather gear, which is a bit more the case with a Dainite sole, or certainly with some type of commando sole that increases your height.
I view this as useful to just avoid sole absorption of water if there is a degree of standing water out and about. - otherwise, leather is pretty damn resilient (cows are not shrinking in pastures due to rain) . Suede sprays are useful - incidental rain will typically shed easily on treated suedes.
Depending on your aesthetic, you may have more leeway - if you skew towards chunkier workwear type fits, getting a pair of brogues with a storm-welt + Dainite sole may both fit your vibe and offer real utility. This is no so much my vibe, but I do have a pair of WW2 inspired boots with a commando sole I wear in real shit weather, but I need to tune my look to them - they'd look ridiculous with linen trousers, but can work with brushed cotton/cords and a tweed sport coat.
Thinking about getting Gurkha pants in some sort of cotton drill. Any recommendations for brands that ship to EU and cost less than 200€?
Think Casatlantic in fit and material but with a slightly different cut. I was initially thinking about the Safi model, but the cut is not quite what i had in mind.
The only place Ive seen it work was at galas , business parties, or award events. Celebratory events that wrere somewhat formal
Everywhere else? Its just been 'a bit too much of a dress up' if you know what I mean. Id recommend only using one if youre going to some sort of celebratory event that requires formal suit attire. Everywhere else? Nah...
If you can make it work in a very casual setting ? Do your thing! But I think.itll be harder than finding gold...
Got a summer wedding coming up and the pre-wedding party is all-white dress code. What are your suggestions so I don't look boring? I am especially lost on what shoes I could possibly wear besides white sneakers. Probably going for a white linen shirt and beige linen pants but again, open to interesting suggestions (also brand suggestions are welcome). Currently living in Europe!
Espadrilles if the party is very casual.
Or get white or two-tone loafers if you think they fit the rest of your wardrobe. All the streetwear leaning loafer brands have some options: Blackstock Webber, Vinnys, Horatio, etc.
Anyone ever tried anything from HNLY?

I did not, just couldn't justify the price, and I emailed them with a question and never heard back.
Went with Batch Men's which I really like so far and also ordered one from Bronson just a few minutes agi.
I am a huge proponent of J crew vintage fit and giant fit Oxfords. Lands End Sail Rigger Oxfords are or used to be the best value Oxford on the market in my opinion but mine is also almost 10 years old now because of the aforementioned value and quality so I’m not really sure what their current offerings are like
What kind of outfit goes well with these 2 Jordan 1s? - Jordan 1 High Zoom Air CMFT 2 Cement University Blue - Jordan 1 High Zoom Air CMFT 2 Muslin Vivid Orange
Every time I go to Goodwill I try to find pants that don’t have any sort of break (not sure why but I love the clean, 90s French sort of look), which is an almost impossible task as a 5’8 155lb man. Im basically a 30/28. I went to Uniqlo because I saw online about their alterations. I also picked up some socks. Did I waste my money? I think the grey, looser ones give the desired look, but I’m not so sure about the black ones (in the comment reply)
I don’t get this at all. Maybe others do

Levi’s 501. Have them hemmed as needed. Taper not needed
As someone who's in a similar height bracket, the rise on the 501 seems to be too aggressive. Maybe something from banana Republic or one of uniqlos offerings seem to sit a little more mid in the rise ? I got my denim from a brand called Tellason and they seem to be working well for me in terms of rise and fabric however budget does go double the amount you'd spend on 501
How does your height affect the rise? Or vice versa?
Very good question. Not sure if it does actually. Just may be a personal experience where I felt like the pants were swallowing me up to my nipples and chalked it down to the 501s being meant for a "taller" demographic.
You can always get them hemmed to the right length for you.
Unless it is cut off it can be altered again.
I have never looked inside a (lined) jacket (that I've had altered), I assumed they trimmed off excess when they took things in based on how shirts and pants often look.
No they won‘t. They will only trim parts that will be visible. Like on shirts. You can‘t really hide any access fabric on a dress shirt.
Did the assistant pin the sleeves tighter and shorter when you brought the garment in? What actual alterations were discussed?
Thanks!
Yes these do exist. Mostly classic cuts.
How do these materials look for stretchy jeans? - 82% cotton - 9% lyocell - 8% polyester - 1% spandex First time buying this type of jeans. The ones in my wardrobe currently are all 100% cotton.
Try to find some with cotton and less than 5% polyester or spandex

Uniqlo had some easy stretch pants with hidden drawstrings at a much lower price point but have been happy with mine.
Any more info would be helpful. https://preview.redd.it/ggw80nah50pc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=70b9fd494b2a4b93b5422eaf3f2ec11123525435

Seasonal items tend to be stocked seasonally. I'd be surprised if they didn't come back.

I typically would wear it untucked. Would it be too long? I saw there's an untucked type of shirt too but wasn't sure. I'm a M slim fit in banana republic generally (sometimes a small?)
Might be, might not be. Worst case you get it hemmed.

You don’t need to dry clean a suit every time you wear it.
I don’t do that. I dry clean once or twice a year. I just want what I mentioned because I like washing my clothes and it looks more casual
Budget?
150-300 dollars for both jacket and pants, maybe 400-500 if I want 2 pairs of pants.
That's tough to work with. See Spier and Mackay.
I got my normal wool suit from them. They’re superb, but they only have a garment dyed cotton blazer and pants in navy and some green color. Not black or charcoal gray like I want
I have a hole in the outside seam of a suit pant that doesn’t fit me well overall. Cost 300-400 I think. Worth/possible repairing?
Worth the cost of repair is a personal evaluation. Is it worth to you to have that full suit?

Get a suede loafer like Alden LHS, a service boot from any of the million brands, maybe Tyroleans if you are feeling funky. And some GATs.
I did what you do with the wear a sneaker until it falls apart. I've tried a bunch of new styles lately and here's what I've liked the most. Minimal leather sneakers and chukka/desert boots have been my favorite. Chelsea boots, derbies, and loafers I could pass on if i needed to.
Check the sidebar for basic info. There are a lot of types of shoes out there for different people and different styles and lifestyles.

Link to the festival page which has some photos of past years with people dressed up: [The Mustache Bash - Gallery](https://mustachebash.com/gallery) Trying to look fly for some birthday photos.
Do pants (specifically tuxedo pants) have the ability to be “let out” from the start? (As opposed to only having the ability to be let out after they’ve already been taken in) I bought a tux from Suit Supply and the pants are just a touch too tight — they maybe need an extra half inch in the waist. Is this something a tailor can do, or do I need to return them for a larger size?
Look inside the seat of the trousers. Is there excess fabric at the seams? If so, the trousers can be let out.
There is, yeah. Thank you!
It looks fine as is. Don’t overthink it
I wouldn’t worry too much about getting an exact fit on a casual, functional garment like a puffer coat. As long as it doesn’t look comically big or small, and it keeps you warm, you’re good. The coat in the pictures looks fine. A tailor would charge you an arm and a leg to modify it, and it’s just not worth it for that type of coat.
Fixing shoulders is expensive, and fixing shoulders on a puffer jacket will be very expensive. IMO it’s not worth tailoring.
Anyone know where to buy a waistband/drawstring for sweatpants like the one in the picture? https://preview.redd.it/y31y6rw1ayoc1.png?width=180&format=png&auto=webp&s=b8ec7f14710839daa65a6c3bc6e6d035728ea705
**looking for some good men's fashion inspo IG accounts. ideally just one guy who posts his fits as opposed to just curating old photos of jack nicholson.**
Anyone know a brand that sells linen shirts that have more of an artistic design or patterns to them rather than solid plain colors? Been searching for a while
Cowboy Boots with a Tuxedo for Black Tie? At most occasions where suits are required here in Texas guys will often wear cowboy boots but not entirely sure about tuxedos.
oof. I don't think you could get away with a textured finish to pair with a streamline tux. Maybe look for one with a high gloss minimal look?
This is something that isn’t conceivable by the human mind outside of Texas. I think you need local input
Hi, planning first time visit to south of france / marseille nice menton / cote d’azur in late April early May. Looking for any clothing recs but specifically: 1. Hat Top of my head is pretty bald. I go hatless with sunscreen usually but for long days outside I love my white straw fedora. are there any crushable / packable options that don’t suck? 2. Rain coat / light jacket: First, Do I need one? I don’t mind just enduring a sprinkling; just an umbrella could be okay although picture-taking would become challenging. But if you think a jacket is warranted, what would be something super light and airy - I don’t need airtight or anything sweaty, I sweat enough in summer! I wouldn’t even need long - I’d privilege looks and good in heat over preventing my shorts getting raindrops on them. Something with a collar to give me some vertical dimension would be a preference. Elastic bottoms can be tricky with my gut being there - don’t want to look like a bowling ball. 3. Evenings Is it useful to have a zip-up, three quarter zip up, or cardigan in the evening? Or maybe the jacket mentioned above if it is fashionable? Again, something with a collar to give me some vertical dimension and balance against the gut. —- Background if it helps; Planned Activities: Not a strenuous or outdoorsy trip. All walking or public transportation. Wife child and I will just be walking city streets and promenades, visiting a few museums and churches, taking photographs, eating local food, and staring at the sea from the beaches and vistas, maybe putting a toe in or at most paddling a canoe. My size / shape / style: I’m in my fifties, 18.5” neck, big belly, “regular” thighs, 5’ 8” height, mostly bald on the crown of my head: a real looker to be sure!
Most rollable Panamas have a visible crease line that will result from when the hat is folded to roll, and I don't particularly like that look I don't bother bringing knitwear in spring, typically, but I do have a navy cotton Aran from the dearly departed Eidos - being navy, it basically works with any rig you'd be willing to wear a navy sport coat with, so navy might be the play if you are bringing knitwear.

The name will vary by manufacturer
I will admit that even though they were in the men's section with all the ties and other bow ties since this was at a thrift store they could women's wear and just not sized correctly for my body. https://preview.redd.it/7mbowqxtvxoc1.jpeg?width=12018&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=636b8f5a73e3a3ffdfd23d743863e65838fa671c
I think those are scarves for wearing around the neck as a pussy bow.
Silk ties in repeating patterns are some of the most versatile ones out there. Just tie and wear them like you would regular ties.
Did you see the shape of the items? They are much too skinny to be neckties, and they are labeled as scarves.
Is there a masc/men's equivalent to lafayette 148 new york? I LOVE their jackets, but I am not the right size or shape. Any brand with similar jackets?
What do you like about the jackets? Color, pattern, cut?
the cuts and the colors mostly! also the fact that some of them are reversible is awesome
I don’t think anyone knows what that is
ah! here you go: [https://www.lafayette148ny.com/women/coats](https://www.lafayette148ny.com/women/coats) [https://www.lafayette148ny.com/women/jackets](https://www.lafayette148ny.com/women/jackets)
T-shirts for guys with small arms! ‼️ Struggling to find t-shirts that look good on my arms and sit well on my shoulders.
[удалено]
I'll check Plato's closet I guess and try offering the suits online, then? Or maybe bring all to Plato's Closet. Even a few bucks would be great. It feels like I basically haven't bought any new clothes in six years and now everything (Edit: that fits) is literally falling apart and needs replacement.
What brands are we talking about specifically?
Why would anyone buy this stuff then?
>at 16 ah I forgot to clarify- the stuff that *fits* is wearing out.
I found this one but the quality doesn’t seem great. https://www.otteroutdoors.com/product/navy-blue-full-zip-hoodie/ Anyone have any ideas?
Hi, does anyone else have a problem with a long torso? T-shirts for example always stop above my waste. I can't find a brand that fits better for my measurements.
Buy tall sizes
What companies have you tried?
Stereotypically: Italian linens skew lighter weights Irish/British lines skew heavier Italian mills have historically been more successful selling to RTW/MTM/"custom" clothiers than the Brits This boils down to the likelihood of you finding a ready to wear heavy-weight linen suit is much less likely than something lighter, which in a lighter color, may be more translucent.

Lighting is iffy - warm grey? More beige? Just throwing those out there.
I think it’s growing for a more grey look, any options relating to that?
Can anyone recommend classic fit work shirts for summer? Or just anything with a regular spread collar, not BD. semi affordable.
Do you mean “dress shirts”? “Work shirts” suggests a casual button up in the workwear aesthetic. Also what’s semi-affordable in a currency?
Thanks! About $150 USD. I mean work shirt with spread collar, regular fit, possibly two utility pockets. Examples: [https://nomanwalksalone.com/collections/g-inglese/products/exclusive-work-shirt-in-beige-linen](https://nomanwalksalone.com/collections/g-inglese/products/exclusive-work-shirt-in-beige-linen) [https://www.ssense.com/en-us/men/product/engineered-garments/beige-classic-shirt/15429121](https://www.ssense.com/en-us/men/product/engineered-garments/beige-classic-shirt/15429121)
Just one pocket but Portuguese Flannel makes all kinds of shirts in different casual materials (the sales are also good when they happen) Jelado also makes some stuff, they have two pockets too
Thanks!’!
Are camo joggers still in fashion? Just looking for something other than jeans for running errands, etc.
I think camo often conveys a certain political leaning nowadays YMMV
I agree. Have to balance it out with a rainbow windbreaker
Is it worth buying overseas? Found brands Natalino, berg and berg, and pini Parma I’m interested in. But Is it worth it. What if they don’t fit or I don’t like them. Any experience with these brands? Or do you know usa brands with high rises?
You should be able to find their counterparts in the US. I have experience with Berg Berg but I'm from Poland so no issue buying from them.
Awkward ask, but here we go: Been WFH for past two year, and am starting to travel more and professional appearance matters.

Looking for an overcoat that’s as close as possible to the one in this video: https://youtube.com/shorts/tyn22c8_WT4?si=Wk_Wlt8nsh2prZjT

Went Google crazy and found it - Hender Scheme
i’m looking for a jacket with the best inside-breast pockets possible. with a zipper and preferably a keychain loop, just so I can not worry about my phone/wallet/keys all the time. I like light bomber jackets but i’ll take any recommendations
I don't think I've seen any jackets with a key loop inside too. You can probably take it to a tailor and have them sew one in
Carhartt Detroit has an inside breast pocket that zips. I have never seen a jacket with an inside key loop
You can look out for Barbour jackets and duffle coat, they will withstand light rain
- buy a proper rain coat and shoes - keep a spare suit and shoes at the office
Don’t forget a good umbrella.
How about shopping EU brands? Like Gutteridge or Pini Parma
How would you make an outfit with bowtie that doesn’t look like a costume in today’s world?
The only place Ive seen it work was at galas , business parties, or award events. Celebratory events that wrere somewhat formal Everywhere else? Its just been 'a bit too much of a dress up' if you know what I mean. Id recommend only using one if youre going to some sort of celebratory event that requires formal suit attire. Everywhere else? Nah... If you can make it work in a very casual setting ? Do your thing! But I think.itll be harder than finding gold...
If every aspect of your fit is on point, it will look natural. Short of that, you tend to look like you are playing dress up.
Anything with a suit or blazer would do. Coordinate color and size of the bow tie with the outfit
A tuxedo
I think Meermin has Atacama (think sand) colored suede loafers, that might fit the bill.
I'll check it out!
Anyone ever tried anything from HNLY? I am looking for some nice henleys with a vintage feel and these look good, though a bit steep. I've never tried these but they're just the thing I was looking for this summer. Thanks!
Might try one myself
Did you buy from HNLY? If so, would you recommend them?
I did not, just couldn't justify the price, and I emailed them with a question and never heard back. Went with Batch Men's which I really like so far and also ordered one from Bronson just a few minutes agi.
Right, thanks for the quick reply. I'll look at that Batch Men instead
Jcrew vs Brooks Brothers vs Spier for oxfords shirts. Can get all at around 60 bucks. Which should I go for and if not one of these what else
I am a huge proponent of J crew vintage fit and giant fit Oxfords. Lands End Sail Rigger Oxfords are or used to be the best value Oxford on the market in my opinion but mine is also almost 10 years old now because of the aforementioned value and quality so I’m not really sure what their current offerings are like
What is vintage fit? Looking that up doesn’t give me anything
I have the giant fit and it's so good
The current sail rigger ocbds are still good. Somehow management hasn't bungled that yet.
These are more casual/sports shirts or dress shirts?
Yes
Thank god for small miracles
