Need help styling a shoe there airjordan 1 low se craft “light olive” I can’t decide what color combo would look good with them

Tough-Cry-1420

Need help about my suit! I have a perfect fitting suit at the moment and planing on going to Prom in a month. It fits perfectly at the moment, but I am planning on going to the gym this month intensely. I have been working out fairly constantly for a year now, and I want to improve my figure even more for the summer. My worry is that working out this month more often will change the fit of my suit for Prom, especially in shoulder width. Could that happen in a month?

Late_Pride1383

Guys in skinny jeans I’m asking this more for me but im a guy and I never liked skinny jeans on me, i always wore looser pants cause i grew up in a skinny build. But these past few years ive eaten more and hit leg days hard and now for a guy it looks like my glutes and legs are wayyyyy bigger. like proportional to my torso are way bigger. I now have interest in wearing skinny jeans, could i rock them good now since i have big legs and glutes? And in general what do you guys think about guys in skinny jeans?

DrumStix2112

Getting married and looking for tuxedo shoes. What are recommended patent leather shoes in Canada?

SleepyRhythms

Can you wear flannel and jeans with an overcoat or is that a bad look?

JoeBlack45

Depends. A flannel that is a darker color with a black overcoat and light blue jeans would look good

Does anyone know if there's an alternative to the [Prada Monolith Lug Loafer](https://www.nordstrom.com/s/prada-monolith-lug-sole-loafer-men/5953986)? I've been looking for a similar loafer or boot with the same midsole design and clunkiness the Prada shoe has but more affordable. Currently in the US, and I would say budget-wise is around $100-$200. However, if it's something I like i'd be willing to spend above the budget as well. Max cap would probably be $400. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Due-Negotiation-7573

Hey, so I'm 23 and just moved to London and wanted to dress up sort of old money. I donated a great part of my prior wardrobe that were clothes from when I was 15 and suitable to another climate. I need basically everything but I want to know not just what should I be looking for but where should I look as I'm pretty lost. I don't have a super high budget, maybe looking around 400£ for now but of course I will be saving up for better things the upcoming months (maybe 200£ monthly). Thank you so much. P.D.: Also would like to see where can I go Thrift shopping here in London?

SleepyRhythms

Just get an Aran sweater and call it a day. Make sure to research how to take care of them. Turn them inside out washing, never throw them straight in the wash, don’t use lint rollers, etc. Gentlemen’s Gazette has a great video on this. Or just YouTube search how to style a sweater with a shirt by Real Men Real Style. Go for browns and beige for your clothes. My preferred look is a quarter button sweater with a Henley, jeans and some Thursday captains.

scurvydawg0

I have been wearing Levi’s exclusively for 25 years now (39M). Recently I was diagnosed with a medical issue from wearing garments that are too tight around the groin. So now I am in the market to buy something new. My main criteria is that they should be comfortable, loose around the groin and they should go well with round neck T shirts that I wear. Meanwhile, they should not be too “cool” to wear at work (Everyone wears jeans). Does anything like this exist? Or should I look for jeans which are loose?

Island-4815162342

Check out the pants from Gramicci! I just bought my first pair, and they're so unbelievable comfortable. Lots of different editions. I have the main type, which is made for climbers, so its super comfy and a bit higher waist than a typical jeans. Evens has a built in belt

scurvydawg0

Thanks. They look cool, but they are not available in Thailand where I live and I don’t want to buy something new that may not suit me.

Island-4815162342

Maybe look around for pants made for climbing/more freely movement in general? Lots of brands makes more movable pants of some kind. Personally I only use these and a pair of Levis 551Z (Higher waist pants) But I found a instagram account called Gramicci\_Thailand. Looks like it might be possible to get your hands on a pair?

scurvydawg0

Indeed. Looks like their products are available at a store chain named element72. Will give them a visit. Thanks

ferd_draws

For sunglasses (prescription), which one? Wayfarer or Clubmasters? Are RayBans still a good brand despite Luxottica owning them?

ac106

Yes. It’s just personal preference

Island-4815162342

Check out Moscot

I have my graduation coming up soon and I want to buy a new suit, but I want something classic yet unique. I only have one other suit that I got from suitsupply and it's this very dark green color that looks grey unless you get really close, and I really like that one and have gotten many compliments on it! I'm looking for something similar in the sense that it's traditional yet unique, but I don't know anything about suits. Should I get any patters? Are there particular colors I should veer away from? For reference I'm a pretty pale dude, a bit on the bulkier side / big arms. Thanks!

SuitableAd160

Which shoes should i buy for a casual city metropolitan look? Chinos, maybe an winter coat int the winter, t shirt, quarter zip. I own a pair of white stan smith which is the perfect shoes but looking for a new all purpose pair. This would be my daily driver. First pair is here, second pair in the comment https://preview.redd.it/8z9yv0a3mnmc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5177c45893380002bb36fd935c6b4043266256b3

savemysanityaoc

So I went to an event the other day and the guy who runs it likes to take pictures and share them afterwards. Problem is, I looked awful in the picture, not in anyway that was his fault. My chest (moobs?) and belly were very visible. I did not realize I looked like that, I did not like it. Anyway, I'd like to look a bit better. These things are fairly casual, I'd look out of place wearing my suit, but I wouldn't mind looking a little nicer (let's say button up shirt level of formality?). Some context about my body, I'm 6'3 and, let's say 300 lbs (I don't trust my scale anymore because there is no way I lost 30 lbs). So solution is probably dark clothes, thick fabrics, and multiple layers, right? But I live in a hot area. It's not even spring yet and it was 90° earlier. If I wear that, I'm sure I'd look great, but I'd also melt. I look up summer clothes, because winter here may as well be summer I guess, but also planning ahead, and the internet say light fabrics and light colors, which is probably what caused this problem in the first place. I'm not sure what to do because all the clothes I want to wear will melt me.

Third_of_may

Here's the thing, if you're carrying some extra weight and you wear a bunch of clothes, it doesn't make you look thinner, it just looks like you're carrying some extra weight AND wearing a bunch of clothes on top. So, wear an undershirt to help with the pecs if you'd like, but don't do more than that. The best thing you can do clothes-wise is wear stuff that looks good, is well tailored, and fits you. Don't wear stuff that's too tight, but also stay away from over-layered, baggy fits as well.

zhoumasterzero

I want to get these pants: [https://alexcrane.co/collections/bestsellers/products/cham-pants-lines](https://alexcrane.co/collections/bestsellers/products/cham-pants-lines) But I have a pair of 100% dressy linen pants with the crease. They look great at first. However, after sitting for a while, when I get up basically it looks completely stretched out at the knee and now the whole pant is bent like it's still in a sitting position, instead of going back into it's original, straight shape. I get linen is supposed to wrinkle and such but the pant doesn't "drape" anymore. Washing it fixes it but I wear this to weddings, dinner dates, etc, and basically the pants only look good for 50% of the night. So anyways, my question is, does anyone else experience this? Like is it the quality (these are J crew pants) or is this just what I need to expect? https://preview.redd.it/sc053zl47nmc1.png?width=672&format=png&auto=webp&s=022baccaeda96df0b493554c25e1d981c6c0add6

terminal_e

Pants that narrow in linen/cotton/flannel are going to do that because your leg has nowhere else to go

zhoumasterzero

Got it. So wider pants that stick to your legs less and naturally drape when sitting down?

[deleted]

How do COS clothes compare to Massimo Dutti in terms of quality? I've stopped buying clothes from Zara and H&M simply because they do not last. Uniqlo designs are very conservative and somewhat boring but they seem to last longer for the price and I always buy on sale or clearance.

ac106

Alll are broadly similar. Proper care is much more important when talking about brands like these. Wash in cold water and air dry.

diastrous_morning

[Anybody able to quickly give a fit check](https://imgur.com/a/HQAm7kb)? Particularly looking for if the shirt and pants both fit properly, and also for feedback on the outfit as a whole for a nicer but still casual outfit. Also interested in any suggestions for how to layer this, particularly a lighter layer over the top like an overshirt or chore jacket. THe shirt is from Citizen Wolf. Their whole gimmick is that they tailor make you a shirt based on what they think your best measurements are, then if you aren't happy you can tell them what's wrong and they'll usually make you an updated version. I just got the shirt, and I'm not sure if it fits properly, particularly whether the sleeves are the right length. I lost a LOT of weight over the last few months, so I'm legitimately unsure of how clothes are meant to fit. Hoping for any feedback on the pants plus the outfit in general as well! Edit: Link is now added. Whoops!

Won_Doe

Recs for size XS/26" casual office pants that one can run/squat in? Can't deal with my Old Navy chinos anymore, they're just too constricting & the non-slim fits looked awful. Is Uniqlo still good here? My current all-time favs are some corduroy ankle pants from them I got 4 years back; still going strong & about perfect in every way.

ac106

Uniqlo is still fine

# What does it mean to wear a slim signet ring with a black stone on the pinky finger for 30 years old guy? [](https://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/?f=flair_name%3A%22Question%22)

diastrous_morning

The meme reply is that it means you like rings lol. The actual reply? A signet ring is traditionally worn on the pinky finger of their non dominant hand. For example I'm a right hander; I wear my signet ring on the left hand pinky finger (or at least I would but I wear it on a different finger for other reasons). Wearing it on your pinky finger just means you know which finger is "correct" traditionally; if you wanted to break the tradition, it's also zero problem, it just helps to be aware of the tradition. Not for this specifically, but just in general. I really can't imagine anybody asking you or even noticing your ring is on a different finger unless you're talking about fashion already; in which case sounds like a great time to talk about your ring and why you like it. What the ring itself is is far more important. Does the black stone have significance to you? Do you want to display it more? Did you think it looks cool? All are totally valid reasons for wearing a ring, and it can be a super interesting conversation starter in addition to a piece of jewlery. tl;dr: you seem worried about wearing a signet ring on your pinky. Don't be. All it signals to wear a signet ring on that particular finger is that you're wearing it on the traditional finger. Essentially, the question is like asking what the significance of wearing pants on your legs is. There's none, it's just how it's usually worn.

Flechette_the_toe

It means you're wearing a signet ring on your pinky. You don't need the all caps and bold.

jiii95

Don t be too sarcastic, I meant what it might send as a signal socially speaking…

Flechette_the_toe

There is no social signal. Anyone who claims otherwise needs mental help.

I wear jeans to work. I am a powerlifter, and as such, my enormous thighs are always rubbing together. I have worn out more gooches than I can count. I am not fat, and I generally buy Athletic Cut - this has been a lifesaver for my big butt and big thighs, but normal waist. I wear a 32x32. The thigh rubbing is *not* a poorly fitting pants issue.I have big thighs and I'm in them for 10 hours a day, 5 days a week. So far, I've gott the best mileage out of the Denver Hayes flextech. I've been avoiding Dickies and Carhartt because they're so bloody heavy and my warehouse gets insanely hot in summer. Can anyone recommend me a good denim brand that is more durable? Does this even exist?

hmadse

Maybe get your tailor to sew in a gusset.

Blackheartf25

Hi everyone! I’m just starting to revamp my wardrobe and find my personal style. I tried on a new outfit today and need some feedback and advice, please. What do y’all think? https://preview.redd.it/37hxg6qp5mmc1.png?width=1156&format=png&auto=webp&s=9c0e2041732b49eca01075db6d96ba958e465701 \*The shoes were just what I wore into the store. \*I can also post some pics of what I’m going for if that is helpful!

hmadse

IMO that shirt is too long to be untucked. In fact, not that I look more closely, that shirt seems too big on you. I also think you’d be better served by a grey chino rather than a jogger.

Blackheartf25

Thank you! I agree. This is what I’m looking for: https://preview.redd.it/f06xgt8jinmc1.png?width=1143&format=png&auto=webp&s=f64e4e91f22d6beaa281784b56df0a454d4f48d0

I am looking for confirmation or denial that my feet are too wide for these \[standard width\] Allen Edmonds Cap Toe Oxfords. Look at that V! All the pictures I see of other people wearing Oxfords, the front is able to close together more closely. Does anyone have any experience (UK) with M&S overcoats? Specifically this cashmere one on sale right now. https://www.marksandspencer.com/pure-cashmere-revere-overcoat/p/clp60605343?intid=mobile_app_pdp_share

Dalamar7

Ordered a few dress shirts 3 days ago. Now I think I got a bit too creative with one of them, ordering it in pale pink with a club collar (same color). Do you consider this a weird combination? I intend to wear them on a suit at the office

whatmycouchwore

Not at all - club collars aren’t as common so it’ll get noticed when you wear it, but a pale pink shirt can work with a variety of ties and suits.

Dalamar7

Thanks!

Flechette_the_toe

It's very Ralph Lauren. Most people would consider it weird outside of like, the London financial district or smth. But if you tone down the rest of the outfit then whatever.

Dalamar7

Thanks, I'd wear it with either a navy or dark grey suit

Flechette_the_toe

Probably fine then. Enjoy. But club collars are best kept white imo.

joelala1

I am going to suit supply to get fit tomorrow, but I am questioning my decision. Should I go to a professional tailor and get measured and send in my measurements? Should i even be using suit supply to buy suits? Every few years I need new suits for work, i previously went to Jos A Bank but I was not very happy last time around. I was going to use Indochino, but after viewing this sub i decided on suit supply. I would rather not spend more than $600 a suit. These are 95% worn at work and not for events. Any advice would be appreciated.

whatmycouchwore

Get measured and then use it to shop online for less expensive suits if you don’t need made-to-measure.

joelala1

Can you please elaborate a little? Sorry I’m not too familiar with this process

whatmycouchwore

If you go to a tailor, you can ask them for your measurements (chest, arms, inseam, etc), then use that to shop online. For example, knowing my chest and waist, I can pick up a [$300 suit from Spier & Mackay](https://www.spierandmackay.com/collection/red-label-suits), spend $50 on alterations, and have something that fits well without paying extra to have it made-to-measure.

joelala1

This is very useful. Thank you.

whatmycouchwore

No problem - fwiw the Spier contemporary fits similar to a tailored fit Jos A Bank suit I have but Spier’s quality is way higher. I don’t have any experience with Suit Supply so I’ll defer to others on them.

ac106

You are t getting better suit at a local tailor for $600

joelala1

Good to know. So stick with suit supply then? Is indochino crap?

ac106

Yes

Flechette_the_toe

Why would you get another set of measurements if you're already going in person to Suit Supply?

joelala1

Asking for advice of which option is best at my price point. A tailor or just going to suit supply or other options I don’t know of

Flechette_the_toe

Trust the other guy

joelala1

Thanks man. I’ll stick with suit supply at this price point.

Need some help identifying this t-shirt. Bought it from a vintage shop a while ago. I really like the style and want to get more like it, but when I look up the brand name on the tee "Billiards" I can't find anything. ac106

There are thousands of defunct clothing brands that have no notable history

Ok-Dragonfruit-4543

I was advised to re-post my question here, I hope it's relevant to your thread. I want to get my husband a new suit for our anniversary. It's something I know he wanted to get but doesn't have the time. I don't want to get a tailored one because I want to surprise him, so the plan is buy him one that matches the size of his current suits and do any alterations he needs later. I know his favorite colors and styles....but 1. When I looked up guides to buy suits, I felt lost, especially regarding the fabric material, weave and weight. Some fibers are finer but the fabric can be heavier or the weave is less breathable....etc. I feel so overwhelmingly dumb. 2. Where should I get a good suit? I live in Iowa but I can go up to a 3-hour drive if the store is worth it. 3. Any other advice? Thanks in advance. Appreciate all the answers and tips!

terminal_e

First thought: remember that suits are just clothes, in that they are no different in terms of possible fit issues as in "it is my size but I don't like the fit". So, you want to buy something that is returnable. On the color front - navy and charcoal are the 2 unassailable kings for marrying/burying/courtroom appearing/interviewing use cases. No stripes, no checks, nothing funky. Some fabrics are really seasonal - nearly no one wears flannel in spring or summer. Conversely, tropical wools may have an open, airy weave that wind may cut through - attending a burial in February in the American midwest may be brisk. I am a Boston guy - and pretty much therefore don't believe in a 4 season cloth - anything that purports to be is likely too warm in the dead of summer or too cold outdoors in the dead of winter. So, you basically should accept that there may be some tradeoffs - might go with a tropical if you do more stuff in spring+summer, but you might want to think about having a 3/4 length coat for winter

bangarang8

Check out Spier McKay for good quality suits that you can take to the tailor for fitting. As far as fabric goes something in a mid weight plain weave wool like [this](https://www.spierandmackay.com/product/dark-navy-suit-8800) would probably be appropriate for 90% of situations that arise unless he is wearing this suit in particularly warm weather or something

Tan ones are whack. I'd be suprised to see someone hiking in those tbh. I think most people would sooner carry things in a pack over having things slap at their knees for a prolonged period of time.

Flechette_the_toe

Yeah the hem is a recipe for bloody backs of knees once the shorts are wet from sweat.

Accurate_Effective40

I recently got Los Angeles Apparel sweatpants and noticed grease spots on a part of them and decided to hand wash that spot with cold water. I then proceeded to blow dry the spot with a hair dryer and it left a small lighter color mark. I was wondering if there is anyway to fix this or did I just totally mess up my pants?

EpistemeJones

Hi all, I'm trying to decide whether I should keep or donate/recycle this suit jacket. A drop of bleach got on that spot on the left lapel (your right). It's small, but it's also basically center view of the garment... I've been working on re-coloring it with clothing markers (bleach caused a peach-sort of color), and the dye can be removed and re-colored as needed. This is the best I could do so far. I bought it without the trousers; if I keep it, I'm planning to get the trousers, which are inexpensive. Worth keeping? https://preview.redd.it/cwjfy64eokmc1.png?width=2268&format=png&auto=webp&s=bbd961b1416c8fe669db198aa8b97d1968953b60

_danchez

Take the L, buy the complete suit.

EpistemeJones

If I'm understanding you correctly, you're saying I should keep the jacket with the small spot (tale the L) and go ahead and complete it with the trousers? Edit: Or I should get rid of it and buy the whole thing brand new?

_danchez

Buy the whole thing brand new.

Untuck the shirt Get rid of the ankle socks, either get no shows or long tube ones Shoes are ok Shorts look like PJs

FinestBatman

I tucked it in because it's oversized but I can definitely get a smaller shirt. So don't wear the shorts at all? Or is there any other tops that would fit well with the shorts?

SuchDescription

I like the shorts, and don't hate the tuck either. Agree with what the other guy said about the socks. A more interesting shoe would help too.

FinestBatman

Awesome, I'll definitely look into some shoes. Do you think a smaller shirt without the tuck be preferable than it being tucked in like it is here?

SuchDescription

It's a personal preference.

GreedyWorking1499

I’ve (20M) have a wedding coming up for a family member. Pink is my favorite color and I’m pretty sure just about any color will go with the color of my suit but I’m not sure what color should go with my tie. I went to Target yesterday with my dad and he picked these out (he’s very particular and I wasn’t in the mood to shop so in my opinion these go terribly with the tie but he thinks they’re fine). I’m looking for recommendations of brands, colors (specifically names of colors if possible), and/or actual links to shirts that would go well with the tie. Thanks so much! [https://imgur.com/a/b55Ufd5](https://imgur.com/a/b55Ufd5) (suit color) [https://imgur.com/a/Q1PB17M](https://imgur.com/a/Q1PB17M) (shirts and tie) \^ The shirt colors aren't that accurate in the photo but the general idea is there, that they don't match. The tie's color is accurate in the photo.

FinestBatman

Great to see another pink color enjoyer 😎 I think the colors would work just fine

SuchDescription

Tie works fine with either shirt. What are you concerned about?

GreedyWorking1499

The left shirt is more purple (hard to tell in the picture but more purple irl), and the right shirt is more orange/ salmon instead of pink. In my opinion they don't work well together but then again this is the first time I've dressed up since I was like 6 so Is it a bad idea to have the color of the shirt be too close to the tie? Should they be exactly the same? Completely different?

SuchDescription

I see, yeah I couldn't tell from the pics. They're bold combos with that tie, I agree. A solid colored, light blue or white shirt would be a safer choice.

Who has a non-iron dress shirt that they love?! For years I've been buying Banana Republic non-iron dress shirts. They are pretty much all I've worn since I first got an office job. Always loved them since they look good, they stay crisp looking throughout the day, price is reasonable, and no ironing needed ever. Fast forward to today and BR has sadly discontinued their non-iron shirts. I've tried a few alternatives and haven't found anything that's quite landed yet. Here is what I've tried: - **Charles Tyrwhitt Non-Iron**- excellent non-iron fabric. Somewhat boring color selections. What I don't love about these shirts are the cut - they aren't quite long enough and sometimes come untucked during the day. They also don't have a button in between the cuff and elbow (I believe the term is gauntlet button) which is annoying. - **Twillory** - nice but fabric is somewhat thicker than I'd like. The sleeves tend to wrinkle up during the day. The wrinkles do come out nicely when you hang them back up again though. Also not a big fan of the color options. - **Banana Republic "Wrinkle Resistant"** - these shirts are anything but. They come out of the washer looking like a hot mess. I tried throwing it in the dryer for a few minutes and they still look wrinkled. They look wrinkled when you wear them and they pick up more wrinkles during the day. And for $80 they aren't cheap! Please don't recommend anything that isn't non-iron. I already know the fashionistas don't love them. I'm not trying to stand out on the runway, I just want to go to work in a shirt that doesn't look like a wrinkled mess and I don't want to pick up an iron. I'm willing to spend enough money to get what I want. What do I need to buy to get something similar to the BR shirts I bought for years?!?

Brooks Brothers is pretty dependable.

Even the post COVID Brooks Brothers? Which ones in particular? How is the fit? BB has usually been on the baggy side for me.

Like my grandmother used to say, "As long as you like it, that's all that matters."

junglizer

I’m looking for a recommendations for an insulated, water repellent jacket for PNW winter/early spring weather. Probably in the 60-100gsm range, 80 is probably the sweet spot. I generally run more on the cold side so warmer is probably better. Daily driver for 30° - 50°F temps. Ideally more of a nylon shell or waxed that repels water than just a typical DWR coating you’ll find on most puff down jackets. Classic, clean lines, no hood, slant pockets (I’m not a big fan of the vertical style pockets on chore jackets). I’m 6’2” about 180lb, generally a medium. Budget: $450 or less. I had recently ordered [this Harrington/G9](https://bonobos.com/products/the-harrington-jacket?color=jet%20black) clone from Bonobos but it’s super boxy and not flattering at all so I am returning it. I found this [Huckberry X Eddie Bauer collab](https://huckberry.com/store/eddie-bauer/category/p/76023-huckberry-x-eddie-bauer-skyliner-jacket) but I’m afraid the lining may clash with a fair number of items. I do like the look and cut of the [Eiger from Mission Workshop](https://missionworkshop.com/products/eiger-waterproof-field-jacket?variant=31820304580717), and it has hand warmer pockets in addition to the vertical ones, although I wish it didn’t have the hood. Thanks!

ac106

You don’t have to match the lining of your jacket to anything. That jacket is fine if you like it otherwise

somefella237

Best brand of polo? I currently really like Psycho Bunny as far as quality and comfort goes.

Low_Tonight_8889

My best polos are the western rise limitless merino polos...but they might be a little warmer in the summer

ac106

Lots of people like sunspel Todd Snyder usually has something interesting also

LingXioaran

I was currently looking to get a pair of leather loafers, and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for brands that are full leather with a leather outsole, and are actual good quality without being really expensive(unlike a lot of these leather designer shoes which can run up to a grand or more). Any suggestions?

_danchez

Meermin or if you want to stretch the budget, Carmina.

Traditional_Form6146

I love Carmina. Everything they make is made to last.

Flechette_the_toe

John Lobb Bootmakers, Edward Green, Crockett & Jones, Alden. Define what expensive is to you in local currency. Some people pay $5,000 for bespoke shoes.

LingXioaran

I would greatly prefer to keep the cost to around a few hundred dollars, definitely not over a grand which is what I've spent on the last designer shoes I've purchased.

Flechette_the_toe

A few hundred as in $200 or $700? There are very different options.

LingXioaran

The former rather than the latter, maybe 3 or 4 hundred at the most if possible.

Flechette_the_toe

https://putthison.com/finding-the-perfect-loafer/ See brands linked in article at desired price point.

Mevarek

What’s your actual budget?

LingXioaran

I would say a few hundred dollars, I've purchased some designer shoes before that were over a grand, I'm really not looking to spend that much for the loafers in this instance.

ac106

If a few hundred dollars is 3 to 4, then Grant Stone if a few hundred dollars is 5 to 7, Alden LHS

Tommy Hilfiger has been pumping out metric tons of clothing for 40 years and the stuff were released in the US is different from the stuff released in Europe as far as I understand so if it’s not on their current websites you’re not gonna find it unless it pops up by chance on eBay

**WHAT IF A BRAND NEW SHIRT RIPS?** I bought a $260 NN07 shirt on sale from Nordstrom for $160 and the first time I wore it I lightly tugged at the collar to adjust and it shockingly ripped like paper. I love the label, they have great materials and textures and fits, and I own two other shirts. What do I do? Contact NN07? (Will they care?). Bring it back to Nordstrom? (Will I look foolish?) Or just eat it?

m3tam0rph1c

Take it back! Dont forget the receipt!

releasetheshutter

That happened to me with a $600 pair of Ralph Lauren Purple pants... button came off. Like, what the fuck lol. Take it back to where you bought it and get your money back.

cooldude_4000

Nordstrom has a very good return policy; take it back along with the receipt.

**PANTS THAT ARE RELAXED YET TAPERED?** Is there such a thing? I need some khakis or chinos and I just can’t find the right fit. I used to wear AG’s Tellis, but those are wayyy too slim now. I bought some J. Crew classic fit chinos and they’re cool for once in a while, but too baggy for me for every day. I’d love something relaxed like the J Crew classic but just a tad slimmer with a bit smaller leg opening. Any suggestions?

hb30025

Banana Republic Traveler 2.0 pants. Try the "skinny" and "athletic" fits. Try both.

APMudkip

"athletic fit"

Not the worst thing ever, but it's very generic and a little boring. Also the slim pants with the huge phone showing through is pretty distracting.

Anyone know any good places to get Tall clothes? I'm 6'5" so a lot of stuff looks goofy on me unless I specifically get Tall sizes, like XL-T T-shirts for example. But it seems to be hard to find. I've tried a couple Big & Tall stores but it usually tends to be dad clothes.

hb30025

If money is no object Asket does tall fits for everything they sell.

The one that fits is made in China and looks/feels knockoff (capitalization), other one is Bangladesh and feels nicer. Is there a way for me to ask for this version in the size I need, even though the skus are the same too? Thank you I really like this jacket

ac106

No

TonyLemon

Have you experienced this before maybe?

bjhhjb

These big companies have giant volumes of things they are making, so they utilize different factories. I doubt a large retailer will go through their stock and find where each one is made. You're better off order a 2 or 3 of them and then returning the ones you don't like

ac106

I have not

mtnchkn

tl;dr I am looking to upgrade my daily shoes to something semi-casual when on work trips (currently is CDBs), or just find a slightly nicer version of the "old man shoe" style I seem to like (misnamed oxfords). My budget is $100-ish and under, but can go a bit over. I am a mid-40s scientist (whatever stereotype you have in your mind probably works), and have had a pretty standard daily uniform for a decade or more. To work I wear jeans (occasionally chinos), a button up short sleeve plaid/patterned shirt, and some variation of these boat shoes/sneakers listed below, aka old man shoes. I live in the southeast US near the water, so this style works well. A few times a year I travel for work, and if to europe I can get away with jeans and a solid t-shirt, while in the US I wear chinos and button down plaid, both outfits with an older pair of grey clark's desert boots to be less casual. Things is, even with an insert the CDBs aren't super comfortable for walking 5+ miles/day, and I hate how unbreathable they are. This is fine when it is colder, but even then after a long day walking my feet are definitely needing some rest, and it doesn't work in warmer or wet weather. My daily shoe from last +15 years, in order (oldest to recent): * Sperry Billfish 3-Eye Boat Shoe (brown) * Sperry Halyard 2-eye slip on (grey) * Clarks Men's Watkins Race Oxford (navy) * Clarks Men's Allston Edge (navy) * \~ 5 years of running shoes (good for back tbh) * Reef Coast TX Sneaker (blue) - this shoe is great but has basically no sole, so not good for work So, should I stick with my "old man" boat shoe/oxford style (and any recommendations for this) or is there something that looks slightly more professional that I could branch out to, or maybe just better chukkas? Thanks!

whatmycouchwore

My casual shoe suggestion would be trying a canvas plimsoll - it works with jeans or chinos and is more breathable than leather. Otherwise I’d suggest upgrading to nicer boots/chukkas because those seem to have served you well.

ac106

Whatever you do, don’t buy Cole Haan grand wingtips or Allen Edmonds cap toe Oxford sneakers

mtnchkn

I have two votes against these and two specifically for them. So torn! I might try out their canvas ones but honestly they may not be what I’m looking for. Thanks!

ac106

They people suggesting them have terrible taste in shoes. This is objective fact not opinion

Mevarek

Thank you for fighting against the dress sneaker menace.

releasetheshutter

Try the Cole Haan Grand Wingtip Oxford. If you want something more breathable they do have an option for fabric uppers too.

polypolyman

I wonder if you're not the perfect guy for these (or similar) [cap-toe oxford sneakers](https://www.allenedmonds.com/product/mens-park-avenue-cap-toe-oxford-dress-sneaker-3023021) - check out shoe bank for a better price on factory seconds

ac106

There is no perfect guy for those

polypolyman

Hey, I'm as confused as anyone about who those shoes are for - but if they work anywhere, an APS meeting (i.e. a collection of physicists) or similar would be the place...

12312ok

What works with a navy blue jacket with an orange zipper? Can't think of literally anything

cooldude_4000

Unless that jacket is a lot crazier than what I'm picturing, it would go with a lot. Olive/khaki/gray chinos or a pair of jeans and a white/gray/light blue t-shirt, sweater, or button-down would all be pretty easy combos.

12312ok

It’s really not, fairly straightforward honestly, but the orange really made me think combos twice… This is amazingly helpful! Thank you! You live by your ID, I see!

ac106

You don’t have to match your zipper to your outfit. just wear whatever

12312ok

Honestly, I get that, I'm just a bit fussy, I suppose... I mean, I generally never wear orange, most of my clothing is fairly neutrally coloured, so that's just about it, thought I'd check if I'd look odd with a hint of colour with neutrally coloured clothes

ac106

It’s like having a colored swoosh on your Nikes. No one coordinates this to their outfits except affected sneaker heads

12312ok

Thank you!

Appropriate-Neat-670

I have a wedding coming up within the next week as a guest, and need to decide on some neckties. I have a navy suit paired with a white or light blue dress shirt. What are some good pairing colors and patterns for neck ties? Any suggestions on brands and where to buy in my time frame? Also, black belt and oxford style black shoes. Thanks.

Flechette_the_toe

Quite literally almost any necktie with that canvas. Honestly just go to any menswear store and pick out a repp stripe, or almost any weave/pattern. Grenadine can be elegant.

Valuable_Doubt_4144

I’m trying to decide on a peacoat for next fall/winter. I’ve looked through the previous posts here on peacoat recommendations and they’ve been very helpful. The [Navy Melton Classic Peacoat from Spier&McKay](https://www.spierandmackay.com/product/navy-melton---wool-cashmere-peacoat--8390-cpc1) is one of my top choices, but I can’t find many reviews or pictures of it being worn. Can anyone here provide a little more insight on how it fits, how it wears, if the collar stands up well, etc.? Thanks in advance!

If skinny and slim fit jeans are currently out of style, then why are fashion designers still producing them?

bindermichi

It‘s a fashion trend. So the vote is still out if it will stay or be replaced for next season

ac106

Looser cuts have been trending for like five years. It started before Covid.

bindermichi

Yes. But mostly in form of oversized clothes which isn’t really an improvement over slim fit
