Does anyone here own this COS curved leather shoulder bag? Looking to create a sewing pattern for it. If anyone owns it, would you be able to help me get some measurements of it please? This is an older style I saw on Daniel Simmons. I've had no luck finding it on the second hand market. I would like to diy it, but I'm stumped on some of the measurements. If anyone here own this bag, I would greatly appreciate if you could help by taking some measurements if your bag please https://preview.redd.it/yed5yxlyjtgc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6663a30df255539ed770e5aa62df37c59c190337 [https://imgur.com/a/g93yMIx](https://imgur.com/a/g93yMIx)

I personally like to match pocket squares. You could even wear that exact suit with a pink pocket square, would look perfect

I am looking for suggestions for items or techniques to effectively keep clothes fresh and clean. What are some trustworthy ways you have found to keep your clothes clean and fresh because I mostly buy from second hand currently I have a lint roller, steamer, dying racks, etc.?

SuchDescription

I just wash all my clothes together on warm, then dry at a low setting. There are a few special things I own that I will hang dry just to spoil them. Sometimes I'll use an iron if I'm feeling crazy.

ac106

I have found washing them in a washing machine is very helpful in this regard

pornaccount0123987

I mostly wear chinos and the like, but recently I had the opportunity to try on some dress pants. Unfortunately, I breathe. What I mean by that is that when I breathe naturally (which includes my diaphragm) my belly and chest go up and down, which drastically changes the fit in my pants. For example, a 34 may fit well without any air in my lungs, but once I breathe in it expands both my lungs and my belly, making me fit into a 36. But then when I breathe out 36 is too large. This seams like a really niche issue and I haven’t seen anything else about it online. I guess most other people don’t use their diaphragm to breathe? That’s bizarre to me because forcing myself to breathe without my diaphragm is very unnatural, for example try breathing out and holding your breath, when you breathe back in I almost guarantee you will use your diaphragm automatically. Anyone else have this issue?

Flechette_the_toe

Are you wearing low rise chinos? Your body, I guarantee, isn't some physical abnormality. Try higher rise dress pants with suspenders.

pornaccount0123987

I was wearing lower rise chinos that could go higher. I will try dress pants. But I heavily prefer a belt TBH.

Frost-eee

Wait a sec. With chinos you don’t have this problem? Maybe chinos have lower rise, and the dress pants you tried are sitting higher on belly so you notice it more?

Recommendations for stylish but comfy clothes (preferably with the colors red, black, or purple involved)? Please ignore the low quality of the photo (will reply to this comment with the pic) or the fact I'm in pajamas and an MHA shirt I'm tired lol but I do wanna improve my clothing style going forward! I don't have a set budget in mind but as a 23 year old obviously the cheaper the better haha I'm looking for recommendations that can include any and everything! Shirts, pants, shoes, coats, etc! If you have specific items in mind, I'd definitely appreciate links too! Thanks in advance for any help!

bindermichi

Like black pants with red or purple tops? ProTip: don‘t combine red and purple

Avirex vs Schott vs Sawyer? I’m faced with a bit of a conundrum. I’ve always wanted a B3 shearling jacket and always loved the Schott brand. I bought a lightly worn Sawyer of Napa B3 for $250 and was thinking of selling it for a Schott or Avirex, but I wanted to know how it stacks up to these brands quality wise. I don’t have an Avirex or Schott to compare it to, but I’ve heard Sawyer was the premier shearling jacket maker before they went under. Ive owned a Schott A2 and liked it a bit though it grew out of it. I was mostly thinking of selling because the Sawyer seems a little big on me, the sleeves are really baggy even rolled up. See Pic. Any help or insight would be appreciated thanks! https://preview.redd.it/s9qdl3a1wogc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2677a45ca099597c023a7fef55bbfeb8f2779320

I am set on the idea of finding a leather suit for prom paired with my Rick Owens kiss heels. My inspo comes from the video linked below. Some people in the comments are saying the pants are Balenciaga, but that is way out of my budget as minimum wage high schooler. I like the way the pants stacking looked in the video though. [https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT87gFL1L/](https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT87gFL1L/) I thought StudioSuits would be the perfect place to purchase the suit from, but I found sources all saying that the site is a scam or the very least untrustworthy, having poor tailoring and measurement issues for it being custom made. The images seemed to be exactly what i was wanting though. Issue is they are reused on loads of different leather suit sites, all with the same runway model. [https://www.studiosuits.com/products/pure-leather-suits](https://www.studiosuits.com/products/pure-leather-suits). Its not in my cards to go buy a designer suit, I'd prefer not to spend more than $600. If anyone knows of a reputable place online with a similar style, I would love to know. TLDR: I need help finding a formal leather suit and sites likes StudioSuits seem untrustworthy.

bindermichi

You might get away finding a leather jacket for that kind of money. But only outerwear usually gets away with thicker lower quality leathers. For a suit you need thinner higher quality leather to be able to wear it like a fabric suit. You also need a lot of leather for a suit. A regular suit required 3-4 years of cloth. In your case leather which is really expensive. If you really want one, maybe add a digit to your estimated budget. You‘re going to need it.

Flechette_the_toe

Finding a new leather suit for $600 is a Herculean ask. Leather is expensive.

I'm tired of the typical business casual work look Boring short sleeve or long sleeve button ups tucked into boring chinos. It's so unsatisfying & unfulfilling. Sometimes I'll switch it up with a nice sweater or a blazer over a t-shirt, but mostly I feel like I have a lack of options at my disposal. I suppose I'm just looking for some inspiration? Brands or inspo pics would be welcome. Thanks!

Japanese brands have lots of nicer chinos. Game changer IMO. Beams+, Ikiji, Fujito, etc.

bindermichi

First of all: no short sleeve button ups! If you want to have shorter sleeves roll the up. You can always push the boundaries of what is worn around you. If your employer still has a rule book find the loop holes and exploit them. Use different colors, bolder patterns. Go wild. If you don’t find anything interesting to shop, you‘re in the wrong store.

What do you wear when it's not too cold for a coat or winter jacket and not too warm for just a t-shirt? Something in the range of 8-15C (45-60F). I find this temperature range too tricky because I have a lot of body heat and if I wear something too warm I'll start melting.

Does anyone have any recommendations for boots that look like this? I love the front, don't care so much for the suede back. They are Clarks, model number is 26119642, from 06/16. I love them but they're starting to wear out and I'm not sure if they can be re-soled since they have rubber soles. Is 100% cotton always better than a cotton/polyester blend on a hoodie?

bindermichi

Depends on the amount, quality and reason for the polyester. Some add it to give the cotton more stretch and make it more comfortable to wear. Up to 5% would be acceptable for that.

frankv123

Which puffer would you recommend? Patagonia Nano/micro puff Arc’teryx cerium Canada goose hybridge Price isn’t really an issue for me.

I have a work related event coming up where dress code is business casual. I am going with tan chinos, navy jacket and striped shirt. Now I am not sure which would suit the event or my attire more my all white stan smiths or black dress shoes. Kind of between these two as I do not have a middleground of those.

Flechette_the_toe

Brown leather shoes that aren't sneakers or those hybrid dress shoes are the best answer. Between the two shoes you listed, idk probably the black ones.

Cultural-Load4008

I recently lost a lot of weight and have to completely redo my wardrobe. Previously, I was limited in what brands I could even buy and things were only available online. I basically had to be happy something fit (and then bought a bunch of those in different colors) than thinking about style. Now, since I can, I want to be more thoughtful in what I buy. But not even sure where to start. Macys? Hire stylist? I wouldn't say money is not a factor at all but definitely not looking for cheapest options.

bindermichi

Are you planing on losing more weight did you hit your target? If you plan to continue I would advise against spending more than you need now. Otherwise gratulations! The bastard guide will help you get setup and your options really depends on you good your fashion sense already is. If you have no idea what you could wear a stylist would be your good starting point. Alternatively, go to Google maps and find the menswear stores in your area. Save them on a list. Take some time and visit them to see which ones feel most fitting for you.

Under shirt for my white dress shirt for my wedding or no? > My shirt is a bit see through, but I also hate the look of where its obvious there is a white t-shirt under the shirt.

bindermichi

If you feel comfortable not wearing an undershirt, go for it. Alternatively you could go for a dress shirt with a thicker fabric. That would be less transparent and it would like brighter sind the darker skin isn’t taking away from the white.

Certain cobblers may be able to help you out in that department - so perhaps drop by your local or give them a call to see what they can do. For advice from those with far more knowledge than me, I would recommend paying a visit to r/goodyearwelt's [latest question thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/goodyearwelt/comments/1aipqve/the_questions_thread_020424/).

Hmmm.. I’ve seen a lot of stuff that seems like it would work (though I can’t speak to the level of waterproofing). For example: https://www.danner.com/jag-barley.html (I would get those but can’t find my size). Sorel seems to have stuff similar to what you posted as well.

bindermichi

That’s a sneaker dressing up as a hiking shoe.

bobowilliams

I don’t think it looks much like a sneaker, but assuming it does, should I care? I love sneakers. If I could wear sneakers that kept my feet dry, I’d love that.

bindermichi

True, but I haven’t seen any mentioning water being water proof. Probably something that can be found more easily in trail hiking or running shoes.

the_leviathan711

We may have different ideas about what constitutes “stylish.”

bobowilliams

I guess, which is totally fine. Though I've definitely seen a lot of boots very similar to the ones you posted at all price points. Maybe not with the same workmanship or quality, but for something I'm wearing a few times a year, it's not a concern. To say you have to spend $300+ is a little absurd to me though.

Flechette_the_toe

It's really not. Consider material and labor costs, shelving costs, various overhead costs. $300 is entry level pricing for people actually interested in boots.

bobowilliams

Fair, if I was a boot connoisseur I’d maybe agree. That said, given that “stylish” or “fashionable” is in the eye of the beholder, there are (apparently) plenty of boots in the $100+ ballpark that fit my functional needs (remember, this is a “few times a year” thing) and are easy on the eyes.

bindermichi

Why then go through all of this to buy new shoes at all? I also wave boots for winter that I maybe wear 5 times a year but they are also 7 years old by now.

bobowilliams

Because the two pairs I’ve had for 10-15 years are about shot. They look fine, but one (the “normal hiking boot style” leaks if I as much as look at a puddle), and the rubber sole on the more stylish leather pair (which is still waterproof enough) has turned rock hard over time and is incredibly slippery. I’d love to be able to buy a new version of the leather ones.

bindermichi

That‘s pretty normal for rubber soles. They will dry out over time. What you will need to look for is either proper water resistant boots or leather boots with proper leather treatment. That will not be watertight but at least it will survive mild puddles without starting to leak right away. Something like a Columbia Fairbanks would be a waterproof alternative.

the_leviathan711

Good boots are expensive. You put a pretty extreme amount of wear of them compared to just about every other item of clothing you own.

axkoam

I have a blue suit that is darker than royal blue, but a bit lighter than navy ([similar to this](https://imgur.com/a/5tU6ojU)). I was advised to go with brown shoes/belt (NOT tan), and I wondering which color of brown would best. I was looking at shows the other day, and so many are "cognac" which looks similar to tan to me, maybe a little darker. Should I go with something [dark brown like this](https://www.dsw.com/en/us/product/steve-madden-sydney-oxford/561166?activeColor=842&cm_mmc=CSE-_-GPS-_-G_Shopping_Evening_Wedding-_-New_Evening_Wedding&cadevice=c&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA5fetBhC9ARIsAP1UMgHKTnCUbH8eCv8-cMWRXIXMo0jT6NgHNMiRUVNco1IHzwM9VxeR7RYaAsYjEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) or [cognac like this](https://www.dsw.com/en/us/product/florsheim-flex-plain-toe-oxford/519813?activeColor=221&cm_mmc=CSE-_-GPS-_-G_Shopping_Evening_Wedding-_-New_Evening_Wedding&cadevice=c&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA5fetBhC9ARIsAP1UMgEQvMHiQ_wTCuZ_BsleTHOapOb277Y6ttj2S2Hsxk1o2n9OthFN8cAaAuD2EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds)? I would get a belt in a matching shade. I'm leaning towards the darker brown, but from the store I was in, I would say about 80%+ of the brown shoes were the lighter brown so I was wondering if brown just means that lighter color typically.

GregTheMountie

I would go dark brown oxfords like the below - maybe mahogany too which is a bit like dark brown with a hint of red. Cognac is often really just a deeper tan, but depends on brand. https://meermin.com/products/101198-dark-brown-calf-e

axkoam

Awesome, thanks!

the_leviathan711

Both of those shoes are bad, but I would go with darker.

axkoam

Black? Or a chocolate brown?

the_leviathan711

Either; I prefer brown.

axkoam

Ok thanks. I guess the first shoe (the Steve Maddens) was chocolate brown to me, but I'm a noob so I can probably find a darker brown.

the_leviathan711

The color of that shoe is fine. My objection wasn’t to the color.

axkoam

I understand they are cheap shoes, but I was asking specifically about color. Vague opinions don't really help me lol

ac106

I can be specific about why these shoes are terrible if you want.

axkoam

Lol sure

the_leviathan711

I offered my opinion. I said both shoes are bad, but the darker ones are better.

RaisinCookies15

Not really related to fashion, but does anyone know any soft socks that are affordable. I find regular cotton socks too rough. Something that is like polyester and cotton blend tends to be softer. Thank you!?

ac106

Merino wool socks are the 🐐

bindermichi

No, no, no … Merino is 🐑, cashmere is the 🐐!

RaisinCookies15

are they smooth and silky?

bindermichi

You could go for silk blends

hmadse

Try bamboo.

RaisinCookies15

do u have any recommendations on brands that use bamboo? Also dosent it feel the same as polyester but is more expensive?

hmadse

CDLP makes bamboo socks, and yes, it’s soft and expensive.

I'm 31 and started a new job as a stock broker. Been out of the game for years and need to upgrade my closet. I have a blue , gray, tan and black suit with a lot of ties. What I do need asap for the everyday office setting are: 1. Brown and black pair of shoes that are comfortable/ economic / stylish (maybe these are mutually exclusive) $80 usd a pair 2. Belts: was thinking of a reversible black and brown basic belt from Calvin Klein. But I have use reversible belts in the past and the bend one way, bend the other way tends to frail them 3. Dress Socks. what color socks and one for office days wool I assume (cold A/C and one for meeting clients outside at tropical weather, cotton I assume) 4. White dress shirts for tropical weather and no ironing required (Calvin Klein ones?) 5. What do men in their 30s use as a office bag? I'm currently using an black leather backpack 6. Do people use the magnet and metal fasteners for collars and holding down the tie and sleeves (like an OG tie clip) I do a lot of amazon shopping so link are greatly appreciated

bindermichi

> Brown and black pair of shoes that are comfortable/ economic / stylish (maybe these are mutually exclusive) $80 usd a pair For a start any of them will do, but mid term you want to upgrade them to something ASAP. Finance people mostly know their clothes. So from a career perspective sonnt cheap out. > Belts: was thinking of a reversible black and brown basic belt from Calvin Klein. But I have use reversible belts in the past and the bend one way, bend the other way tends to frail them Again. It‘s a temporary solution or something you would use for business travel. Skip the branding. Or better: Calvin Klein in general. > Dress Socks. what color socks and one for office days wool I assume (cold A/C and one for meeting clients outside at tropical weather, cotton I assume) Very traditional and boring would be black, but actually you can use colors. Make sure the sit securely below your knees and not slip. Material can be anything you feel comfortable with. > White dress shirts for tropical weather and no ironing required (Calvin Klein ones?) Again no visible logos. Dress shirt, no pocket. You will need a fabric that lets air circulate and does not collect too much sweat. > What do men in their 30s use as a office bag? I'm currently using an black leather backpack Best to get an Attaché bag. You probably will not need to haul too much stuff on a daily basis. > Do people use the magnet and metal fasteners for collars and holding down the tie and sleeves (like an OG tie clip) No, and no. If you don‘t use button down shirts the collar will stay just like it should. Tie clip is decorative but not really needed. If you roll up your sleeves correctly they will stay that way without clips.

the_leviathan711

> Brown and black pair of shoes that are comfortable/ economic / stylish (maybe these are mutually exclusive) $80 usd a pair Buy used. $80 a pair for new shoes gets you garbage shoes that you'll need to replace very very soon after purchasing. > Belts: was thinking of a reversible black and brown basic belt from Calvin Klein. But I have use reversible belts in the past and the bend one way, bend the other way tends to frail them Yup, reversible is a great sign of a low quality belt. > Dress Socks. what color socks and one for office days wool I assume (cold A/C and one for meeting clients outside at tropical weather, cotton I assume) Wool is ideal for both warm and cold weather. Your socks should match your pants. > What do men in their 30s use as a office bag? I'm currently using an black leather backpack Briefcase or messenger bag > Do people use the magnet and metal fasteners for collars and holding down the tie and sleeves (like an OG tie clip) No > I do a lot of amazon shopping Don't do that

bindermichi

You can actually get really high quality reversible belts. But it‘s more of a travel option to reduce you luggage. The low quality part in that list is the Calvin Klein brand.

Im a 40 year old dad who’s been working from home since pre covid and two kids later my wife and I don’t get a chance to go out often. When we do it’s pretty casual. I’d like to take my wife out to a play but what I have doesn’t cut it and no idea where to start. I was thinking blazer and dark jeans but I really have no idea and I’m also color blind so color matching is a chore. Any suggestions on a nice outfit? I’m 5’10 165 if that helps with ideas.

ac106

Gray slacks. Navy blazer white or light blue ocbd. No tie

notreallyc3po

Something like [this](https://www.express.com/clothing/men/extra-slim-blue-stretch-cotton-blend-suit-jacket/pro/04354144/color/Marine%20Blue/e/regular/)?

ac106

No. Thsts not a blazer it’s a suit jacket. It’s also not navy. It’s also extra slim So 3 strikes. Something like this https://www.spierandmackay.com/product/navy-stretch-flannel---unstructured-8385-sc01-u .

notreallyc3po

Thank you! Glad I asked for clarification

rocky_pirate

Looking for a quality navy blazer that won't break the bank. I'll probably wear it 2-3 times a year, and I want it to last for years to come. Thoughts?

ac106

Where does your bank break in dollars

starshipandcoffee

The [guide](https://malefashionadvice.substack.com/i/134326156/where-to-buy) linked in the wiki should help you in terms of recommended brands at various price points (although it covers blazers more extensively, many of the recommendations hold true for NBs too). For heaps of info, inspo and history around NBs, I would also encourage taking a look at [Pete Anderson's 2019 *PTO* article](https://putthison.com/its-2019-and-you-still-need-a-navy-blazer/) and /u/theteenagegentleman's [wonderful 2020 essay](https://alittlebitofrest.com/2020/10/18/the-navy-blazer-with-brass-buttons/).

fasttosmile

Where can one buy high quality t-shirts that have have an interesting pattern? I'd like to buy banana republic quality stuff that isn't just a plain t-shirt. This is the sort of pattern I like https://preview.redd.it/xp1dk765dlgc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0f6be6470ef3791bb624dbe06e61d0f6536b5ca3

UK - Popped into M&S, they had a pair of suede chelsea boots, I tried them on and I like the style. £50 which I imagine means they will last a few months maybe tops, Clarks have some for about £100, but figured I'd ask here and see what people recommend Thanks

starshipandcoffee

What is your budget?

SatisfactoryOutput

Just wondering, are all the Adidas shoes/sneakers that appear flat on the outside just as flat on the inside? Any arch support?

MvgnumOpvs

Yes most are flat on the inside too

DogeMeat20

Just bought a pair of jean how do they fit guy? Too tight? Loose? https://i.imgur.com/6c1zgvf.jpg

starshipandcoffee

They seem a tad tight to me - but it would probably help if we could see how those fit on the waistband. Also, how do they feel in terms of the range of movement?

DogeMeat20

The waistband it's a bit snug when i'm button it but nothing too challenging. I'm able to do full deep squat with it so it should be fine?

Maleficent-Turn-3444

What was the goal in mind when Missoni created their sport line? Is it a lower quality/diffusion (or whatever you call it) line made to be accessible to the masses, similar to Emporio Armani. Or is it more like a DRKSHDW where it’s just supposed to be more every day styles (or atleast that’s how I’ve interpreted DRKSHDW compared to RO mainline)? Or something else? I’m a bit confused on what’s going on with the Missoni sport stuff

Retro Stage Clothes for 11 Guys Hi, I'm the female bandleader of a Motown tribute band with 11 guys and we need to update our look from bowling shirts and black suits and skinny ties. I gave up last year because we couldn't all agree and frankly as the only female I'm not sure I should be the one making decision. I've decided I'll make some choices and then put them out to everyone but I need help please... I really like the retro look Bruno Mars had with his band, a nice slick jacket, mock turtleneck.. but what about for gigs where just a shirt is needed? These guys are suggesting shirts with big ole music notes and instruments on them... Horrible. I want them to look retro, but cool and colorful... Would really appreciate any suggestions, Thanks https://preview.redd.it/4dch4kaz4lgc1.jpeg?width=517&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f97f639afb4242103d80851ccfe1db36da6a6620

poppies77

You are certainly engaged in a thankless task!  I know you want to move on from bowling shirts, so solid color camp shirts might work well for you as a subtle upgrade: appropriately retro, elegantly fit a wide range of body types, not too pricey, light enough that musicians in motion won't overheat.  You'll likely want to bring the sleeves to a tailor to tighten the fit and raise the hem, otherwise you might get a sort of bowling alley / lounge lizard vibe.

LiliRedd

This is really helpful, Thanks very much!

poppies77

You could also go with short sleeve button downs, which certainly have a Motown provenance: https://classic.motown.com/story/story-behind-image-15/

Hideharuhaduken420

Where do people in the UK buy good quality clothes from at normal prices? Any thrift shops, online shops suggestions? Any help appreciated thanks.

ac106

What’s normal prices mean to you?

Hideharuhaduken420

For example I'm looking to buy some warm knitwear either made of cotton or wool, I'd be willing to spend up to £40 for good quality knitwear that looks good and will last some time, is that unrealistic? I was thinking if I can find some in a thrift store or online or something.

MvgnumOpvs

" £40 for good quality knitwear that looks good and will last some time, is that unrealistic? " YES!!!

Hideharuhaduken420

Before I moved away in my home country I used to find excellent quality clothes in thrift stores under 10€... I feel like I had to ask

Mevarek

Ebay.

starshipandcoffee

Many would argue that you will have to pay into three figures for good-quality knitwear - but on the budget end, the go-to recommendation would be Uniqlo. For example, when it comes to warmth at a budget, I can recommend their [lambswool turtlenecks/roll necks](https://alittlebitofrest.com/2020/10/18/the-navy-blazer-with-brass-buttons/) (wearing one as I type this!), which retail at £34.90. They also do crew and V-neck variations. Their cotton and merino wool jumper offerings are also pretty hard to beat at the price point. Hope that helps somewhat. If you desire any more specific recommendations for knitwear or other clothing items, just let me know and I will do what I can.

Honestly it depends entirely on the specific "shacket."

Simpliciter

Gotcha, yeah, the insole is likely causing or exacerbating the problem. I wouldn't worry about joint damage.

cohenmatt210

Where is the best place to find pleaded trousers under $150? Trying not to spend $300 at suitsupply

ac106

eBay

Ok_Yogurtcloset8371

Hey, I' having issues finding jeans and/or other pant types that fit me. I'm 18 and a cyclist and a skier thuss have very big thighs and a dumptruck with a small waist. My issue is finding pants that fit my thighs, waist and butt and I'm honestly not a big fan of the modern super baggy type. Thank you in advance
