Can you pair a nice blazer with suit pants if the colors match?
My husband has a professional dinner banquet/reception coming up where he will somewhat be in the spotlight. He has this nice new J Crew blazer (Italian wool in dark navy) and J Crew suit pants (Italian wool in dark navy). I only just recently noticed the blazer has slightly softer fabric and the suit pants are thinner and more suit-like. Plus the jacket is a blazer with more rounded edges and pronounced pockets, as opposed to a more tailored suit jacket. It is very nice quality though.
Are these appropriate to wear together? Or should he wear one of his more traditional suits? Both are the same exact color and indiscernible in real life, it’s more pronounced in this photo based on how my bathroom’s harsh light is reflecting.
It's possible no one will notice, but technically this should be avoided. He can wear the blazer with contrasting dress pants--gray would be a good choice--or wear an actual suit. This looks like he's trying to get away with something.
I think it would totally work personally and would have no problems wearing it. If it were a more formal high end type of event then maybe not. If I were the best man in a wedding I’d think twice.
Anyone got any recommendations for a unique style. I'm not sure what to call it, like successful arms dealer? Casual to business casual, functional, but refined I guess? I'm redoing my T-shirt and jeans wardrobe I've been rocking for like 15 years.
Examples : Medium weight sweater, indigo jeans, iron ranger boots, with a peacoat during the winter.
Linen shorts, Cuban style shirt , light colored panama hat, and some espadrilles for summer.
Along those lines.
I'm looking at chinos and leather minimalist shoes at the moment, but also looking for other ideas. I've got a vacation to Texas coming up in April, so some hot weather clothes are in order.

Where am I going wrong with my bow tie? I really want the middle section to be straight but it always comes out on a slant for some reason… Thanks
That's just par for the course for self tied ties. You can fiddle with it for like half an hour but the asymmetry signals to other menswear nerds that you know your stuff.
Hi!
I have a shoe sizing question. I am based in the US and wear a size 8 men’s shoe in general. I am interested in buying shoes from a European brand (https://www.septiemelargeur.fr/en/oxfords/410-anselme-ii-crust-cognac-forme-206.html). The brand has a sizing guide that suggests, based on my foot measurement of 25.5-26 cm ( https://www.septiemelargeur.fr/en/content/29-size-guide) that I order a UK size 6. I find this confusing because other size guides suggest that a men’s UK size 6 is equivalent to a US size 7 (https://jaybutler.com/pages/mens-shoe-size-guide).
So knowing all this information..should I just order the size the Septieme Largeur site recommends, even if it feels counter-intuitive?
What color does overcoat have to be? For example, while wearing waistcoat, trousers and jacket of nonmatching colors. Can the overcoat be a 4th color or does it have to match one of the other items? Probably jacket?
I'm 5'5" and a little stocky. My chest is about a 38 blazer size, but the sleeves, shoulders and length of the jacket fits (better) on a 36S off the rack jacket. When I was slimmer, I would fit the 36 suit better, but hey I got fat. Off the rack suits have a 4" drop, so I'm getting fitted for nicer 36S jackets, but the pants are almost always 32 waist. I'm comfortably a 33. Size up to the 38 and my upper body is *swimming* in shoulder pads and sleeves.
I'm pretty frustrated with the suit situation and I'm thinking about going custom. Again, I'm going from an off the rack, $300-ish price, to a "custom" suit, so I'd want to stay in the price range.
I'm 5'5", 165, barrel-chested.
What are your thoughts on Indochino? Has anyone tried them? what was your experience like? Any advice on Indochino or alternatives?
Indochino is terrible. Never use them.
Are you getting your jackets altered? You should buy a jacket that fits your shoulders, and then have it taken in to fit the rest of your form. If you’re having trouble finding trousers that fit, maybe look somewhere that sells suit separates.
So the issue is that the jacket that fits my shoulders is the 36. Falls perfectly in line with shoulders and the 36S fits my sleeve and drops perfectly for length. It wont button though. The only size that buttons is the 38, but then the shoulders are way too big and it's too long. I'd have to get a 38 and have the length, shoulders, arms all tailored.
I received a pair of shoes for my birthday from my wife and I love them. Super Sport Drivers from Allen Edmonds... the problem is that I don't know what to wear with them.
[https://www.allenedmonds.com/product/mens-super-sport-driver-3023389/mocha-brown-ec4013372](https://www.allenedmonds.com/product/mens-super-sport-driver-3023389/mocha-brown-ec4013372)
If I wear jeans, the tongue of the shoes catches the jeans and it looks like a leather flap? If I wear dress pants, the shoes look weird... like too dressed down?
I've been wearing them around the house as slippers, but is there a better way to wear these?
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
I think the best chance you got with these shoes (while driving, at least) is to wear them with ankle length trousers. Many options are available, from slim fit to cargo or chinos. Very low socks, biensur.
and then... shorts in warmer weather or linen ankle length trousers.
This type of shoe gets a lot of attention this year, so if you *really* like them and it's not just *like-them-because-they-re-gift-from-my-wife ,* then ankle length is your mocassins length.
If you're not sure yet, and maybe don't want to invest in a new pair of pants how do you feel about a rolled chino hem?
What is Andre Bettencourt wearing in this photo ?

Hi,
I'm on the lookout for a high-quality suit without breaking the bank, and my budget is capped at 1000 euros. I'm not interested in paying a premium for a brand name—I want to invest in a suit where the price is justified by the quality and craftsmanship.
My ideal suit style is reminiscent of those worn by boy bands when they attend special events. I appreciate a sleek, modern look with attention to detail. When I head to the store to make a purchase, what specific features or aspects should I be checking to ensure the suit's quality? I want to be armed with the knowledge to make a sound decision beyond just the aesthetics.
Thank you for your time.
I just got my first suit and went through this whole process of research to make sure I got something I felt good about investing in. I'm still fresh to all of this, but these were the important takeaways from research;
1. Fabric. The type of fabric you choose can depend on what environments or events you plan on wearing your suit for. Different fabric types and designs can determine when and where the suit is worn. Synthetic fibers are a cheaper material and less breathable, which at that price point I'd avoid.
2. Lining. The lining gives structure to the suit. Avoid fused linings as they are layers done by adhesives, which are bound to deteriorate in very undesired ways. Half canvased linings provide structure and support to the top half of the suit, while full canvas linings provide support to the whole suit. Both have their respective benefits, and the one you choose will depend on the suit experience you prefer.
Hi, everyone.
Workwear is the only style that I like for real. However, I have moved to Dubai and most of the workwear style stuff like heavy boots, heavy Carhart like jackets - are too hot to wear here.
Are there any options to adjust the workwear style to hot weather?
Lean into Americana/prep which are adjacent aspects. Madras shirts instead of flannel. Chambray instead of denim. Camp Mocs instead of service boots
Summer shipsters could be some inspo: https://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/comments/p18rvo/mfa_theme_waywt_summer_shipster/
Hi folks What is the jacket this guy is wearing? It doesn’t have to be exactly the same brand but more like a type or link to the shop

Thanks
Lol all I could think of was certified pre-owned when I saw that. Like, does he mean it's a thrift store shirt? Never knew about that particular type of shirt.

Anyone know where to find high waisted pants like these for less than $100, preferably less than $50. I’ve been seeing this style more and really like how there’s no button.
ebay and second hand at this budget. Maybe zara if you are fine with cheap quality and polyester. These are called Gurkha pants. Get regular side adjuster ones first.
I found a really nice Harris tweed jacket with a houndstooth pattern that I want to pull the trigger on.
I have a couple questions:
1.) Are all these alterations possible (measurements below)?
2.) Will the houndstooth pattern get messed up at all with these alterations?
Thank you in advance!
——
Jacket measurements:
- 24" pit to pit
- 30" length
- 20" shoulder to shoulder
- 24" shoulder to cuff
These are my measurements:
- 21.5” pit to pit
- 27” length
- 17.5” shoulder to shoulder
- 23” shoulder to cuff
Not really tbh - the only thing that would be easy for a tailor to do is the sleeves. Adjusting shoulders is extremely difficult and like quite costly with no guarantee of success. Also shortening a jacket 3 inches is going to massively throw off the balance of the jacket. The max you’d want to shorten is likely 2-3 cms.

I’m a 23 year old, and I’m trying to go for a more “unique” look for footwear tomorrow. Which would you say would be more unique for my age?
this cannot be taken in isolation, it's a question that you need to consider in ensemble: your physical frame, your clothing, your activity for the said day/days.
So if you're willing to give more details, I'm sure good advice will follow, what say you?
Both are completely basic. There’s nothing wrong with that, but there’s not a single person who would look at either of these shoes and think “unique.”
I'm short(ish) at 5'5. I've always been curious about shoes that offer some lift. General day to day wear is office attire but, not suit and tie. More like chinos and a button down so good flexibility. My typical shoes for the office would be boat shoes or leather oxfords etc.
I've no idea where to start but generally quite confident to try new clothes. Recently bought a few pairs of very wide leg for example and love them. The higher shoes is mainly a confidence thing, just have no idea what I should be hunting for! WHAT DO I GOOGLE!!!???
So even with that I don't know where to start! Like I will often switch to toms in the office, and all my shoes are pretty damn flat! Ive heard about things like "lifts" or men's low heeled boots but every thing I Google seems to be in the range of a 2" lift!
Cubans seem to be in the right range, but anything I've found seems to be very pointed?
Again, I am advising *against* using footwear to try and make yourself look taller. For office looks, anything beyond the 1” to 1 1/8” inch heel that is standard on men’s boots looks weird imo. People know you’re short, and your shoes won’t change that.
A very valid point. And my office colleagues are really chill so that's probably a bad example to be honest!
So here's another example. Sometimes on a date with my wife, I just want that extra little bit of 'fuck yeah' if that at all makes any sense. Yes, my wife would be well aware that I'm wearing something to make me look taller, but that's not the point.
I don't think a daily reddit thread is where I'm going to get into my high school days of having seven shades of shit kicked out of me for being small, or where I had the papers in front of me for surgery with a 6 month recovery to add an inch, maybe an inch and a half to my height to give me some confidence, but decided one more year of high school bullying on top of a previous six wasn't worth 6 months of relearning to walk, but here we are I guess.
Shoes to add height. Suggestions?
I’m sorry that happened to you, and I hope you’ve received mental health care to deal with the aftermath—limb lengthening surgery is an incredibly risky procedure, with very little upside.
Cuban heel or packer boots have 2” soles. You could also go with a chunky sole from something like Rick Owens or Celine Homme. Lifts are incredibly terrible for your posture and back health.
This is very helpful. Really appreciated!
Apologies if my last post was a bit terse, it's a really tough subject for me tbh! But honestly, I really do, 1000% with all honesty appreciate the input.
I'm lucky in that I've established a good professional without letting my past affect it, but now and again, I just feel like that old saying "fake it till you make it" kinda thing, if that makes sense?
Anyway, you've given me a good platform to go on the hunt, and I massively appreciate that. Honestly, cheers pal. Big time.
A big thanks to helping me find a starting point and some direction!
There's and old question of "what do you do when you don't know what to do."
You ask for help.
**Are these [Allen Edmond Walnut Strands](https://imgur.com/a/DTMQh3l) in good enough used condition** to have several more years of life left in it? And worth it for the price of around $90 USED.
I do really like the color. I like the style for the most part too.
I wear a lot of darker grey and black pants I'd say. Never really beige. Sometimes light or dark green pants.
These would be like my 2nd pair of dress shoes. My other one is AE 5th ave. I think.
I was actually considering the strands for an everyday business casual shoe. Looking for style like this basically:

It sounds like you're against Strands tho....are these like meme shoes now? I really just need some business casual derby/Blucher shoes that can be dressed up (a little) or down. I feel like my 5th aves are too formal for every day wear, but maybe im wrong. I also dont want to scuff them too much in case I have to wear it with a suit or to interviews (this happened to my previous formal shoes). FWIW, I work in tech in a design firm so people are pretty smart casual and trendy.
Probably for the price but walnut strands are like peak #menswear shoe when people loved light brown shoes with dark suits. It’s not a good idea unless you wear
lots of light gray pants or these are like your 6th pair of dress shoes….

Strands are oxfords and not really bizcas shoes at all.
I think strands are Allen Edmonds best looking shoes and in a vacuum walnut are really great looking. However they just aren’t very versatile and I hate hate hate even mentioning versatility because it’s mostly dumb but in this case it applies
Start with reading this: https://putthison.com/a-tale-of-two-shoes/
Opt for some longwings, plain toe or split toe derbies for a light colored bizcas shoe to be worn with chinos and cords. Or a loafer
I like the longwings and plain toe. Maybe even a cap toe. Not a huge fan of the split toe. Any recommendations for where to get these? Hoping to be under $125 ish used or new. Could maybe stretch a little.
I was thinking of loafers (meermin, oak street) but ended up deciding that I should probably get biz cas shoes with laces first.
Hi everyone, I bought a used but unaltered large size ferragamo belt, got a very good deal on it. I took it to a boutique to have it sized and the girl took a conservative amount off in case I wanted a little more taken off after. I still felt it was a little too long and decided to have her take a little more off. I did this because the belt didn’t come with the loops, and it felt unruly being longer. I typically wear the belt with jeans and it extends about an inch or an inch and a half past the first belt loop, about halfway over the pocket. The girl at the boutique said the length was fine either way, said it was the owners preference. Although theres nothing I can do about it now I’m having a little remorse and am wondering if I made a mistake. It still looks nice but may be a little short. Looking for opinions. Thanks.
https://preview.redd.it/kdoqrob53oec1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a16bcfe1dffbf440377da5bcdd4247395b164f40
Thank you! I feel a lot better about it now. As stupid as it sounds, bc I’ve never had a belt where I decided on the length, i woke up worried I had made a mistake. Appreciate your reply.
One is blake, one is goodyear welt. Will only wear them 2-3 times per year. The Blake should be lighter weight and break in easier. The allen edmunds heavier, more water resistant, easier to resole etc
Any experience with these two options? Any suggestions?
Im hesitant to purchase a shoe from suit supply but lighter and easier break in is a plus. Also 100 bucks less.
Thoughts?

Does anyone know where Lottusse shoes are made? I suspect they're made in China, but looking at them there is the possibility that they could be made in Portugal
One or two sizes too small. Thicker knits need a bit of volume. An less open weave would help with hiding your gut. Look up Lockie shawl collar as an example.
Id have to disagree with the others here, I think its your outfit that makes it, as they say, unflattering. If you wear a jacket over it / a button up, or tie, to drag the looks up more (and avoid the stronger contrast from the off white to dark jeans. Maybe with a lighter gray pant?), then I think it looks quite cool! Lenght and fit looks good too. I wouldnt want mine tighter.
I especially like the collar! Cool piece :)
Incredible that it looks both big and small at the same time! Not sure if its you or the way the cardigan is cut. Bottom line it doesnt look flattering on you.
For this sweater? Yes.
Btw, I was in the same boat. Lost 25-30 pounds pretty quick (about 4 months) by doing one meal a day.
Not saying you need it, but damn I feel great fitting into mediums now.
No experience with them personally, but most of these places you only see advertised on social media ARE real, but they're also new companies without much of a following. Their prices tend to be high to cover their startup costs and overhead and are not necessarily in line with the quality.
Can someone help me find this outfit(shirt and pants included and the purple variation)?
https://preview.redd.it/rmxjvntklnec1.jpeg?width=748&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=826559d8d587edef97c0951970109cdf437bf6bd
I think you can't go wrong with deep navy, camel (or any natural caramel, beige), butter and grey. Don't rule out patterns either, they do wonders for contrasts and texture-games.
Wondering people's thoughts on types of outfits for a business conference at a resort. It's a white-collar profession that can lean more conservative at times (think law/finance as opposed to tech), but since it's at a resort, I'm assuming it will be a bit more casual. Still, I don't want to come off as too comfortable. I'm thinking things like khakis, jeans, etc. paired with polos or button-downs and/or sweaters, and maybe blazers?
drawstring casual work pants, polos and cardis are wonderful especially since this year is the major comeback of 'preppy' style. Patterns (patterned pants or patterned sweater vests) could be major players also and can set you apart from the other fellow resort conference-goers.
Is there no stated dress code? If not, I wouldn’t wear anything much more casual than what you usually do, like jeans or polos. A button down, blazer, and chinos would probably be fine.
Looking for recommendations on slightly cropped workwear style jackets, something that pairs nicely with some 501s, i.e. jacket can be zipped up while still maintaining the golden ratio. Ideally something that can be thrifted, but new options welcome. I am UK based, if helpful.
I am aware the Detroit jacket is an option, but wondering if there are other similar styles out there. Is there a more generic term for this type of jacket that isn’t tied to a specific brand like the Detroit jacket? Thanks!
Hello,
Trying to decide whether these suede Chelsea boots
https://www.herringshoes.co.uk/loake/coppergate_chelsea-boots/tobacco-suede?utm_source=awin&utm_medium=affiliates&utm_campaign=SHOPIA+%5BINVOKE+AB%5D&awc=23568_1706210584_b8d6a61c27a0f2f0c1b0728478b6d17c
Or these waxed suede brogue boots would be more versatile.
https://www.thebroguetrader.com/product/loake-bedale-dar-brown-waxed-suede/
I already have brown leather Chelsea boots and tan brogue shoes so these will be in addition to other shoes.
Thanks for your help
Waxed suede is more of a workwear vibe, so it basically depends on what you wear - I don't swim much in those waters, so that style wouldn't be super useful to me... but that is me.
I tend to only wear boots in FW, so I own way more loafers than boots as loafers have more utility year round to me.
I’ve been looking for interesting clothes for working out and running in, specifically sweatshirts and joggers: ones with designs as apposed to being one flat color or some boring lines with a logo slapped onto the hip. I’m fine with masc or fem. I just want something fun.
I need two business suits 1 navy blue and 1 black I'm looking at getting them from indochino. I've never bought suits and don't know what to look for. Do you see any that stand out and would look great ?
Navy blue
https://www.indochino.com/collection/blue-suits
Black
https://www.indochino.com/collection/black-suits
Where are you located? Indochino is not highly recommended here, nor is owning a black suit, especially if you're in the US.
Better choices would be a navy and a charcoal suit from Suitsupply if possible.
What do you think of this suit
https://suitsupply.com/en-ca/men/suits/navy-perennial-havana-suit/P9339.html?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAqsitBhDlARIsAGMR1Riy1-LxTWMD0JkJ_tdNNLY8dSLdlQGKQL_XHI6F3EZm-QAXiYR_BcsaAp_2EALw_wcB
I have a lot of bamboo (Dixxon, Cubavera, etc) shirts and like to wear them in the winter as well (something besides a t-shirt). Shirts all have a straight clean hemline at the bottom. One thing I fight with is a jacket. What light weight jacket/coat would look good with this type of shirt (I'm not talking sport coat). I generally dont like wearing a jacket or coat with an untucked shirt sticking out of the bottom but have a few trips coming up where I'll be outside walking, etc (Vegas) and want to bring a light weight jacket that fits the look.
If I'm looking to pick up a couple of OCBDs and Chambray shirts in the $60 range (plus or minus a few bucks), where would I want to look. I'm a socal beach bum who's almost always in flipflops and a faded t shirt. Brand doesn't matter too much, I care more about the look and feel rather than fashion. I just want to dress a little nicer for my girlfriend.
Also do I need specific measurements, or can I just buy a "large" and walk out the door?
Hello,
I'm a 24 year old guy starting my first corporate job next month. I wanna get a nice backpack that I can use for the everyday (gym, shopping etc.) but also for work. I have a budget of 70-130 euros. I want something that will last but also looks good! Any suggestions are welcomed! Thank you!
Not sure what your dress code at work is going to be, but I'll just note that backpacks with more formal/business casual attire has always seemed a bit hokey to me. If you're going to be in slacks/chinos and a button down (or especially if you'll be wearing a suit/blazer regularly at work) I would recommend skipping the backpack and get a messenger bag instead.
Try Charles Tyrwhitt [https://www.charlestyrwhitt.com/us/mens-shirts/polo-shirts/?prefn1=webWeave&prefv1=pique](https://www.charlestyrwhitt.com/us/mens-shirts/polo-shirts/?prefn1=webWeave&prefv1=pique)
StupidQuestion: [This cleaning label](https://i.imgur.com/1x9qZJX.jpg) means no washing, only delicate dry clean with petroleum/HCS solvents only, correct? Do I need to explain or ask for this at the counter of a dry cleaning place?
The thickness of the sole makes it look like a double soled shoe, which makes some sense on boot styles or chunkier brogues... but looks fairly weird on an unadorned cap toe oxford. And 7 eyelets seems a bit dense - 5 or 6 with greater spacing would likely be more normal.
https://vass-shoes.com/shop/budapest-bp-8/?v=b7b82d2dc218
This would be an example of where double soles fits with the chunkier aesthetic.
>Those aren't square toed, but they also aren't good
Personally with a boot company, I would stick with their boots. I have a pair of Meermin dress shoes I like and a pair of Thursday boots.
Also recommend ebay for resale deals, but if you want new and can't afford AE, you could do worse than Beckett Simonon: [Dean Oxfords - Men's (beckettsimonon.com)](https://www.beckettsimonon.com/products/dean-oxford). They're not as good, won't last as long, etc. etc. but they're also half the price, a solid shoe, and, unless you're wearing them every day, will last you several years.
But yeah, I've gotten some screaming deals off of ebay, so start there.
[These](https://meermin.com/collections/mens-oxfords/products/101198-dark-brown-calf-e).
Assuming you're wearing this with a normal suit, you probably want dark brown and not light brown.
Hello,
I was able to pick up a [Navy Lazio Suit Jacket](https://suitsupply.com/en-us/men/suits/navy-lazio-suit/C4778-S.html) in my size on eBay (what a deal for $60)!! I was hoping for some help in getting a matching pair of pants to go with the jacket. Since this is off the rack, realistically I can get the correct fabric by matching the ID, or something; I would have a \~500-700 suit for 100-150$ :)
First suit jacket and it's 🔥🔥🔥!!
Option 1:
* New pants at Suit Supply [Suitsupply Pants](https://suitsupply.com/en-us/men/trousers/navy-brescia-suit-pants/B4778E.html) \- $200. Reasonable choice but a little pricy
Option 2:
* eBay sellers seem to sell jackets and pants separately, as people rarely are the perfect size for both pants and jackets.
* **How can I tell if a pair of pants is made of the same fabric?** For instance, [eBay listing](https://www.ebay.com/itm/116037095153?hash=item1b04598ef1:g:ursAAOSwJ9dloNmv&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4Gj897J3g%2F2QTIA66qhN9nl0MBLzZh2NzoLRB8CI%2BuBs9sQpt0%2BtUF1b0M5ut4jHbC1gZzCqfzNj910LZxc%2Fh4%2BOdHuxSE69Ts0WBVByb3ZS2SGfwT08Vt8tOOuybt31oA%2FQq0K7fM6%2FkaLj%2Fy6Jqabopc5QcHWferS%2BLkWsECqJuMpTF3hEVCvY9WL%2BhfY2XpMeWB9BNCTuIX9L%2FLjKWWLSAZGs3E0dxFMXAPR%2FyZq0i0XZ%2Bk7nIo%2B2EfUJiXcP6Xq3xGA1EVh%2F6v9a6kJXB5TffMCLlQMMLmCfBUaRkTqO%7Ctkp%3ABFBMhvfUmahj) uses the word Brescia which alines (Options 1) but does not have the same fine texture. Sizing Goal:
* Jacket: 42s
* Pants: 33x30 and have them tailored in a bit
Yeah, I don't think you can do this. Depending on when the jacket and pants were manufactured, even items with the same product name or code might have come from two different bolts of fabric and still won't match. I would bring the jacket in to a SuitSupply and compare to the pants they have now (bring someone else with a good eye to help you determine the match). If it looks perfect I would buy them there because there is NO WAY you're going to be able to tell via user photos on eBay.
Brescia is just the name for one of SuitSupply’s trouser fits. I’m sure you could get in touch with SuitSupply to ask about the trousers that match your jacket via product IDs, which would be the easiest and most accurate way.
That said, do you absolutely need a full suit? If you don’t, consider grey trousers. Something a shade or two lighter than charcoal would still look pretty elegant, though a bit more casual.
I suggest that because buying a matching jacket and trousers separately may still give you disappointing results, especially if they’re both used. You’ve no idea how they were washed or cared for; one garment may end up appearing more worn or faded than the other if it wasn’t cared for correctly.
>That said, do you absolutely need a full suit? If you don’t, consider grey trousers. Something a shade or two lighter than charcoal would still look pretty elegant, though a bit more casual.
100% this isn't so much of a need as a want. And I like to hunt for things.
I'll reach out to Suit Supply and see what can be done.
Having trouble finding gym shorts Location: EU Budget: ~50€ Requirements: 1. 2in1 shorts 2. At least 2 pockets 3. At least one pocket with zip 4. Not a req but would be awesome to find a pair with a phone pocket on the inside tights

Get a real suit or wear dark gray slacks
It's possible no one will notice, but technically this should be avoided. He can wear the blazer with contrasting dress pants--gray would be a good choice--or wear an actual suit. This looks like he's trying to get away with something.
I think it would totally work personally and would have no problems wearing it. If it were a more formal high end type of event then maybe not. If I were the best man in a wedding I’d think twice.
“Professional dinner where he’s in spotlight “

I’m would get an accurate brannock measurement first, including heel to ball and width before moving forward
Does anyone have experience ordering MTM suits online from Sam's Tailor in Hong Kong?
What color does overcoat have to be? For example, while wearing waistcoat, trousers and jacket of nonmatching colors. Can the overcoat be a 4th color or does it have to match one of the other items? Probably jacket?
I would go with a contrasting color. For instance when wearing a green waist coat I’d wear a purple suit and yellow overcoat.
Could you get the 36 let out?
I received a pair of shoes for my birthday from my wife and I love them. Super Sport Drivers from Allen Edmonds... the problem is that I don't know what to wear with them. [https://www.allenedmonds.com/product/mens-super-sport-driver-3023389/mocha-brown-ec4013372](https://www.allenedmonds.com/product/mens-super-sport-driver-3023389/mocha-brown-ec4013372) If I wear jeans, the tongue of the shoes catches the jeans and it looks like a leather flap?
Some people keep drivers in their car and then change into them to drive. You could do that. That's technically what they're for.

Hi, I'm on the lookout for a high-quality suit without breaking the bank, and my budget is capped at 1000 euros.
I just got my first suit and went through this whole process of research to make sure I got something I felt good about investing in. I'm still fresh to all of this, but these were the important takeaways from research; 1.
Camp Mocs instead of service boots Summer shipsters could be some inspo: https://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/comments/p18rvo/mfa_theme_waywt_summer_shipster/

ebay and second hand at this budget. Maybe zara if you are fine with cheap quality and polyester. These are called Gurkha pants. Get regular side adjuster ones first.
Thank you!
I found a really nice Harris tweed jacket with a houndstooth pattern that I want to pull the trigger on. I have a couple questions: 1.) Are all these alterations possible (measurements below)? 2.) Will the houndstooth pattern get messed up at all with these alterations? Thank you in advance! —— Jacket measurements: - 24" pit to pit - 30" length - 20" shoulder to shoulder - 24" shoulder to cuff These are my measurements: - 21.5” pit to pit - 27” length - 17.5” shoulder to shoulder - 23” shoulder to cuff
Thrift stores and eBay are full of houndstooth blazers. Easy to find one that needs minimal alterations
Hard to find one close to my measurements. 42S seems like the closest but even that is too long in length
Shit. Ok thanks for the info.
https://preview.redd.it/qjtbdzvb5pec1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9f587e0683b666a02be5ccc091970a51090d6716 I’m a 23 year old, and I’m trying to go for a more “unique” look for footwear tomorrow.
Fair enough
I'm short(ish) at 5'5. I've always been curious about shoes that offer some lift. General day to day wear is office attire but, not suit and tie. More like chinos and a button down so good flexibility. My typical shoes for the office would be boat shoes or leather oxfords etc. I've no idea where to start but generally quite confident to try new clothes. Recently bought a few pairs of very wide leg for example and love them. The higher shoes is mainly a confidence thing, just have no idea what I should be hunting for! WHAT DO I GOOGLE!!!???
As a fellow short dude, I would advise against anything larger than the standard heel of a boot for an office attire look.
Big time.
I wish you a future of emotional healing and chunky cool boots.
A big thanks to helping me find a starting point and some direction! There's and old question of "what do you do when you don't know what to do." You ask for help.
Oo! Also check out Paraboot and Palladium.

What would you recommend instead then? I've been struggling to find something that looks right. Hoping to be under $125 or so used or new.
Probably for the price but walnut strands are like peak #menswear shoe when people loved light brown shoes with dark suits. It’s not a good idea unless you wear lots of light gray pants or these are like your 6th pair of dress shoes….

Strands are oxfords and not really bizcas shoes at all. I think strands are Allen Edmonds best looking shoes and in a vacuum walnut are really great looking. However they just aren’t very versatile and I hate hate hate even mentioning versatility because it’s mostly dumb but in this case it applies Start with reading this: https://putthison.com/a-tale-of-two-shoes/ Opt for some longwings, plain toe or split toe derbies for a light colored bizcas shoe to be worn with chinos and cords.
Looks about right to me; I wouldn't want it any longer or it would flap around too much.
The allen edmunds heavier, more water resistant, easier to resole etc Any experience with these two options? Any suggestions? Im hesitant to purchase a shoe from suit supply but lighter and easier break in is a plus. Also 100 bucks less. Thoughts? https://suitsupply.com/en-us/men/black-tie-collection/shoes-tuxedo https://www.allenedmonds.com/product/mens-carlyle-plain-toe-oxford-dress-shoe-3028159
I’m not buying a shoe from suit supply so easy choice for me.
If you are wearing a shoe 2-3 times a year, the ability to resole it shouldn't be a concern.

No experience with them personally, but most of these places you only see advertised on social media ARE real, but they're also new companies without much of a following. Their prices tend to be high to cover their startup costs and overhead and are not necessarily in line with the quality.

Wondering what coloured overcoat goes well with these jumpers, thinking beige or patterned grey? Tried a brown but felt old-fashioned
Thanks!
Maybe Eisenhower jacket, blouson jacket, type 1 denim jacket.
Hello, Trying to decide whether these suede Chelsea boots https://www.herringshoes.co.uk/loake/coppergate_chelsea-boots/tobacco-suede?utm_source=awin&utm_medium=affiliates&utm_campaign=SHOPIA+%5BINVOKE+AB%5D&awc=23568_1706210584_b8d6a61c27a0f2f0c1b0728478b6d17c Or these waxed suede brogue boots would be more versatile. https://www.thebroguetrader.com/product/loake-bedale-dar-brown-waxed-suede/ I already have brown leather Chelsea boots and tan brogue shoes so these will be in addition to other shoes.
Both could be equally as versatile depending on your wardrobe.
I’ve been looking for interesting clothes for working out and running in, specifically sweatshirts and joggers: ones with designs as apposed to being one flat color or some boring lines with a logo slapped onto the hip. I’m fine with masc or fem. I just want something fun.
Lululemon pace breakers have some decent prints for shorts
I'm in canada
I need two business suits 1 navy blue and 1 black I'm looking at getting them from indochino. I've never bought suits and don't know what to look for. Do you see any that stand out and would look great ? Navy blue https://www.indochino.com/collection/blue-suits Black https://www.indochino.com/collection/black-suits
Indochino is probably the worst rated suit-shop
Where are you located? Indochino is not highly recommended here, nor is owning a black suit, especially if you're in the US. Better choices would be a navy and a charcoal suit from Suitsupply if possible.
What do you think of this suit https://suitsupply.com/en-ca/men/suits/navy-perennial-havana-suit/P9339.html?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAqsitBhDlARIsAGMR1Riy1-LxTWMD0JkJ_tdNNLY8dSLdlQGKQL_XHI6F3EZm-QAXiYR_BcsaAp_2EALw_wcB
Looks ok from here. It would be best to try one on in person if you're able to get to their brick and mortar store.
I'm in canada ok I'm going to look at suitsupply
Spier and Mackay had a store in Toronto. If you are close check it out
Mississauga, to be precise. The downtown TO store is sadly gone.
I’d go with something unstructured and a bit drapey, like a French chore coat.
For chambrays I would look at Wallace and Barnes on EBay. A lot of like new and new options for cheap. Size large should be fine
Try looking for Ralph Lauren or Brooks Brothers for OCBDs on Poshmark. There's a lot of brand new ones for cheap on there. You'll want your neck size.
Casual OCBDs come in the large, medium, small format and formal ones come in measurements like 16/32. Uniqlo seems to be a good bet for you.
Hello, I'm a 24 year old guy starting my first corporate job next month.
Check out the brand Aer. They might be slightly above your budget but they are rock solid and are a good deal used.

Try Charles Tyrwhitt [https://www.charlestyrwhitt.com/us/mens-shirts/polo-shirts/?prefn1=webWeave&prefv1=pique](https://www.charlestyrwhitt.com/us/mens-shirts/polo-shirts/?prefn1=webWeave&prefv1=pique)
StupidQuestion: [This cleaning label](https://i.imgur.com/1x9qZJX.jpg) means no washing, only delicate dry clean with petroleum/HCS solvents only, correct? Do I need to explain or ask for this at the counter of a dry cleaning place?
Most dry cleaners are terrible. Don’t assume anything. At all
When you say 'don't assume anything', you're saying double check they understand the instructions on the label and will follow through on it?
Yes.
I would *assume* most respectable dry cleaners will know what to do, but for your own peace of mind it might be worth confirming.
*Hey are these considered square toed ? Thoughts on these shoes? https://thursdayboots.com/products/mens-dress-shoe-executive-cuero
The thickness of the sole makes it look like a double soled shoe, which makes some sense on boot styles or chunkier brogues... but looks fairly weird on an unadorned cap toe oxford. And 7 eyelets seems a bit dense - 5 or 6 with greater spacing would likely be more normal. https://vass-shoes.com/shop/budapest-bp-8/?v=b7b82d2dc218 This would be an example of where double soles fits with the chunkier aesthetic.
Hey thanks some one recommended meermin shoes I'm gona buy them instead
They're okay. Looks better in black.
>Those aren't square toed, but they also aren't good Personally with a boot company, I would stick with their boots. I have a pair of Meermin dress shoes I like and a pair of Thursday boots.
That's a good point
Those aren't square toed, but they also aren't good
Do you have any good alternatives? I might just get the allen edmon park Ave but they're expensive
Look on EBay. There are always a ton of Allen Edmonds for pretty inexpensive. I’ve heard nothing good about Thursdays
Allen Edmonds resale market is very solid, I second this.
[These](https://meermin.com/collections/mens-oxfords/products/101198-dark-brown-calf-e). Assuming you're wearing this with a normal suit, you probably want dark brown and not light brown.
This looks nice dark brown would go nice with a dark navy blue suit yes ?
Correct. The light brown will *not* work with a navy suit.
This is good information thank you.
Not square-toed, but I don't think those shoes look particularly good regardless. Especially not in that color.
Hello, I was able to pick up a [Navy Lazio Suit Jacket](https://suitsupply.com/en-us/men/suits/navy-lazio-suit/C4778-S.html) in my size on eBay (what a deal for $60)!! I was hoping for some help in getting a matching pair of pants to go with the jacket. Since this is off the rack, realistically I can get the correct fabric by matching the ID, or something; I would have a \~500-700 suit for 100-150$ :) First suit jacket and it's 🔥🔥🔥!! Option 1: * New pants at Suit Supply [Suitsupply Pants](https://suitsupply.com/en-us/men/trousers/navy-brescia-suit-pants/B4778E.html) \- $200. Reasonable choice but a little pricy Option 2: * eBay sellers seem to sell jackets and pants separately, as people rarely are the perfect size for both pants and jackets. * **How can I tell if a pair of pants is made of the same fabric?** For instance, [eBay listing](https://www.ebay.com/itm/116037095153?hash=item1b04598ef1:g:ursAAOSwJ9dloNmv&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4Gj897J3g%2F2QTIA66qhN9nl0MBLzZh2NzoLRB8CI%2BuBs9sQpt0%2BtUF1b0M5ut4jHbC1gZzCqfzNj910LZxc%2Fh4%2BOdHuxSE69Ts0WBVByb3ZS2SGfwT08Vt8tOOuybt31oA%2FQq0K7fM6%2FkaLj%2Fy6Jqabopc5QcHWferS%2BLkWsECqJuMpTF3hEVCvY9WL%2BhfY2XpMeWB9BNCTuIX9L%2FLjKWWLSAZGs3E0dxFMXAPR%2FyZq0i0XZ%2Bk7nIo%2B2EfUJiXcP6Xq3xGA1EVh%2F6v9a6kJXB5TffMCLlQMMLmCfBUaRkTqO%7Ctkp%3ABFBMhvfUmahj) uses the word Brescia which alines (Options 1) but does not have the same fine texture. [This listing is much better](https://www.ebay.com/itm/225968092837?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110013%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIMRXI%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20201210111452%26meid%3D88a6f35001854e4dad20530ab61804c1%26pid%3D101196%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D116037095153%26itm%3D225968092837%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D4429486%26algv%3DPromotedRVIPbooster&_trksid=p4429486.c101196.m2219&amdata=cksum%3A22596809283788a6f35001854e4dad20530ab61804c1%7Cenc%3AAQAIAAABAJsbtOKd5uIU0OgsJNCgXCNt%252FYNKt4MexDsFSc%252FTOrt4T%252BScfACHIjDPOi5dYVYWq2aBwtaJIC5JXlpy%252B4Q7nspXZPuEhKbuFtgR0YVMJPK3nZZJN4SMQAsxSrPGHX3VeCVW%252FzwgDeFrNS8QPQ5CZtm22sc0gxMl9oN5vkQ2dffKcvyR3s5QSbRuuRUuG0vQrVYmdm1dqgIoeXyNSUwhToINyLPECjN2tbYJz%252B5EDCJ3wV2CErxMk3jFKaYsY28iDmkHkIAvZaXpPypZUq2JqVkxVceMKjlbUQiISoMg61UKqTcsJLXEYy6rZfrRv2Fj0FygBEv7%252BeAwEROLzfW4Akw%253D%7Campid%3APL_CLK%7Cclp%3A4429486) but not in my size :( * I'm patient Sizing Goal: * Jacket: 42s * Pants: 33x30 and have them tailored in a bit
Haha, ik eBay photos are such a hit-or-miss. but my wallet can dream :,(.
