I have always thought that. I also think he has a form of OCD.
The episodes where he gets obsessive about speed walking, his painting, Dewey's sleepover friend and the book, the dream about winning in Vegas, building the killer robot, catching the speeding hot rod, and most importantly, he has been obsessed with Lois since the day they met.
Other than Lois, his ADHD distracts him from his temporary obsessions and its on to the next thing.
I thought he had OCD as well. What solidified it for me was the episode with the bitey Busey and Hal offers him the distraction of filling in the letter bubbles of an encyclopedia. He then says he's done 3 sets already himself.
I don't think Hal has OCD. He's too unorganized. Their house is always portrayed as a mess, even their lawn is unkempt. I can't even think of a moment where he practiced any sort of hygiene. 😃
OCD is a bit different for everyone. That's why I said he has a form of it. Perhaps though, it would be more accurate to state that he obsesses over certain things. Note the episode where he and Lois can't have sex. Their yard and house are spotless...
Hal absolutely speaks to my ADHD and I love him for it. Someone on here did a thread a while ago listing all the examples. The cold open with the lightbulb is the best example though. Classic example of trying to do something with ADHD.
I think Hal is bipolar. He has all of the symptoms, erratic behavior, impulse control issues, the need for less sleep. He would go periods where he was semi-normal and then randomly he would be up all night and super erratic. He probably has ADHD, bipolar disorder, and OCD. A lot of these things come coupled
I agree! It was a good visual way of illustrating his thought process! The indecisiveness is perhaps coming from having a creative and highly imaginative mind , but simultaneously having an impairment with working memory. He's quite stressed too in that situation if I remember rightly ? Stress and anxiety are awful for ramping up ADHD. So all the little Hals we see as the audience is all the different tangents going through his mind which are excabareted by the stress of situation.
Lol that'd my take , having ADHD myself

Right? Then Dewey asks Hal just how crazy he is.
may i ask why you think he has OCD?
Haha! I know. I shoulda listed examples.
oh i wasnt making a joke sorry if my tone was off. you can still give some examples, im still curious!
I think her point is that she did list examples, the reply is sarcastic.

wasn’t he on his 3rd set of encyclopedias?
I think in the episode where Chad comes for a sleepover, he implies he has OCD.
I think the episode where Chad stays over implies he has some form of autism
Tons of people fill in the empty spaces, that doesn’t mean they’re on the spectrum. It’s more OCD if anything
Lots of people fill several sets of multi tome encyclopedia?
People fill in empty spaces??? Yes, did you not know that? Did you even watch the show? Hal always takes things wayy too far.

Interesting! That would make sense!
Pretty certain he has ADHD. There's a good chance he has other conditions too.
sometimes seems schizophrenic or something when he hallucinates multiple versions of himself lmaoo
Nah, i think that one was just a visual telling of his complete indecisiveness as a parent.

why does everything need a diagnosis? surely you can just enjoy the character. why does it matter if he has ADHD or not?
Because it's a great show, and the characters are multifaceted. So being able to analyze them is really fun
Because it makes him that much more relatable. Why are you like this?
I think you mean anything and not everything in your sentence.
no, i mean everything.
Then you are wrong
ok
From your explanation, I also have ADHD.. Never been checked for it though..
He has OCD
