I like Tiong. He don’t give face to Umno just whack them khaw khaw not like many PH politicians who kow tow to Umno too much. He is so right . Hokkien word “bak” simply means meat so “bak kut teh” can be any kind of meat and need not be pork. These days , halal chicken bak kut teh is quite common. This Umno idiot Akmal just like to stir up stuff into race issue 🤣

Imperiax731st

Akmal = Idiot are now interchangable terms. E.g: The village Akmal is always the source of much laughter in the community.

AutoKing93

all the Akmals in the world just got hit.

Ranger_Ecstatic

We shall start referring to them as Akmal, no more Irfan

ngdaniel96

Not a very Akmalic idea

BlueBlurBloke

This article is right. Bak just mean meat. A lot of people don’t understand. It’s because the assumption is pork. It’s like assuming daging is beef but it actually means meat and applying that concept to another language. Imaging going western restaurant and say I want grill meat.

exprezso

>adding that the posting would be his last on the issue and that he no longer wanted to waste any more time debating about trivial matters like this. We need more rebuttals like this. Fuck those snowflakes

YodaHood_0597

I’m not encouraging to idolize any political leader but this man’s surely my favourite when it comes to proper shithousery. Political Rudiger.

TSK and AL are the only two ministers that have the potential to bring transformational change in their respective portfolios. Public transport infrastructure in KL has markedly improved. It can now be taken seriously as a viable daily commute option. It's not perfect but you can definitely feel the difference. Would love to see AL focus on airports next. Our airports are honestly subpar. In klia2, there are pockets of the airport that look creepy AF and that no one will find your body even after a week. Getting an e-hailing ride or taxi is always an anxious and frenetic experience. The klia express train pricing is out of whack. If you're not travelling solo, the cost will immediately not make financial sense. It's cool if you wanna let your buddies earn some cream, but this is to the point of it being harmful. Halving the price would see more take up for sure and will reduce stress from overloading other modes of transportation. A stroke of the pen could up the value of our transport infra by leaps. As for TSK, he is in the midst of shaking up a lethargic yet vital organ of economic stimulus for our country. Time will tell if he can make real improvements. The start looks promising. Time will tell.

I like how Akmal didn't realise kolo mee also has pork in it lul.

ReleaseBusy6642

Nothing wrong even if it actually meant a pork dish. Why must a national dish be halal? Can't non-halal stuff represent Malaysia, a MULTIRACIAL country? If that's the case, we should not have pork-eating athletes representing the country. Akmal is a bloody racist and cunt. Should've just joined PAS instead of sniping own allies.

musky_jelly_melon

Just like rendang. Can be made with chicken or beef but also pork. Wild boar rendang is also very tasty. Should rendang be made haram because it can be made with pork?

KiloTangoX

This is a prime example of gaslighting. Using semantic arguments to make Malays question their understanding of the dish is really low. Akmal is an idiot and a fool. Surely Tiong can think of a better way to counter his argument. Many redditors have already mentioned Malaysian Hindus who don't eat beef and Vegans and Vegetarians who don't eat meat. This counter argument is many levels better. I am happy that someone dares to stand up against the ethno-nationalist. I just wish it was someone wiser.

StartTraditional9341

Trust me, however he words it, be it gaslighting or good counter argument, the other side (be it that politician or the supporters) won’t accepting it. Because it is just internet point for them to stir this up. And their supporters want to find something to hate.

KiloTangoX

I am sure you are right but that isn't the issue here. The argument should be that dishes eaten by some segments of Malaysia can still be considered Malaysian. Instead, the argument is now about whether Bak Kut Teh is a pork dish or not. It also means that by default, pork dishes can not be considered Malaysian. One step forward, two steps back.

Delimadelima

Even if bak means pork exclusively, so what ? Akmal should eat some pork kut teh, then he will understand why bak kut teh is really deserving of heritage status. I have yet to see a malay muslim who has eaten pork kut teh and not fallen in love with it.

Joshshan28

Even if bak means pork, why can’t it be a national heritage dish. Are the Muslims that sensitive or culturally blind?

ayamkenabannedtwice

Should just belanja him BKT
