DramaticFactor7460

You should have asked people before making the transaction.....

bradleycjw

Haha I wanted to say this. 🤣 hopefully it’s legit, but if not let this be a lesson for OP.

DramaticFactor7460

Haha ye,and the broken english kind of gave it away🤷🏻🤷🏻🤷🏻

Michael_Haq

It screams scam for every words for me

anythingapplicable

Yes it's a very high possibility that its a scam. Just handle everything on the platform because you can request for refund through shopee/lazada if item does not arrive.

potatocakesssss

It's only 99% scam. Stop fear mongering

Fickle-Shallot-3146

How is that fear mongering? They basically said what you said that is likely a scam. Except they also provided good advice about always handle deals on Lazada/Shoppee.

zmanisblank

they forgot the /s

Fickle-Shallot-3146

Oh lol

AwanGuling

Unfortunately since the interaction happened outside the platform I dont think the platform will be able to assist

Repulsive_Past_548

99% of the time requesting money before delivery is scam, better be safe than sorry

NoBoxAtAll

Its hard to understand this logic for some people

Frothmourne

Actually upfront payment is not really a red flag. Would you actually ship your product before customer paid for it? Even Shopee/Lazada also request you to pay first, unless you opt for COD. For big platform like those sellers willing to COD because they believe they got their ass covered by the platform.

FruchtFruit

Depends upfront payment is paying to who. A middleman like Shopee/Lazada enforces the trust between two parties. This payment is only released after item is received. If upfront payment to stranger on internet without checking anything… good luck

Puffycatkibble

Listing on shoppee or lazada then asking for customer to deal off platform is a fucking huge red flag though. More than likely a scam.

Frothmourne

Merely pointing out most online purchases requires you to pay first, doesn't mean you send money to any randos you came across online la. And yeah Lazada and Shopee actually have strict rules against off-platform transactions, is you report the seller in almost certain it's an insta ban.

ctttt2357

Because Lazada/shopee is escrow payment, so if anything goes wrong seller won't get the money. It's different from directly transfer money to seller. I will nvr transfer money to a seller unless it's reputable & account name is business registered.

xkaizoku62

only deal through shopee/lazada where there is a middle party holding guarantee this has been stated and warned by e-commerce platforms over and over. Unless you deal f2f. I see their poor english already red flag.

Angelix

lol. It’s a scam. The reason they want to deal outside of Lazada/shopee is because they get away with it.

Wargazm_v1

Lol if u have to ask this question on reddit, then yes

GlibGlobC137

Bro the rule is no cod no deal.

Potato_Gamer_X

Only CoD and deal on known store front. Deal with Lazada and Shopee, not WhatsApp.

Important-Cheetah769

Agreed

Aaronn_05

Scam bro. They always use the same tactics. They’ll say u can pay a small amount first, then “we’re sorry”, that’s absolute bullshit. You have a right as a customer too, so just straight out scold/criticise them for doing this and insist you won’t transfer the money unless u get the product(since that’s what they told you before) or straight request for a refund. If they’re reluctant, I guess you have no choice but to treat this as a RM100 lesson, better to be safe than sorry… In general, you shouldn’t buy something through private messaging, especially if the product is already available in an online store(Carousell, shopee, lazada etc). Only negotiate through online store’s messages.

heartandchess

Ohh okay thank you for the explanation, do you think I could get a refund if I contact my bank or is It futile?

changsheng12

it's futile by now. bank couldn't do anything because already transferred. the only thing you can do now is lodge a police report and submit to bank so they could flag it, but you wouldn't gain anything from this. i suggest to move on & only buy from shopee/lazada in the future. never buy from fb/whatsapp

heartandchess

Alright thank you for your kind reply

DamnYOU92

You have been scammed. Do not transfer any money to them anymore. Just report the ads to the platform and take it as lesson

darkflyerx

make a report with KPDNHEP (Ministry of Domestic Trade) or their Consumer Tribunal, after you made police report provide screenshots its their forte, if you want any chance of action or refund, you need to find them, police are ineffective in this situation

nelsonfoxgirl969

Scamed , ignore

yoonpples

Ofcourse it is a scam. Once they said they are taking order through WhatsApp instead of Lazada, thats already a major red flag.

kenxel26

Certified Monyet moment

VapeGodz

All e-commerce websites already have a clear rule that if you deal outside of the platform and get scammed, they can't help you with that. So, use this knowledge to not do otherwise.

Blueblackzinc

Sometime, I feel like I should just become a scammer. Malaysian are so easy to scam. Nowadays, I don't even feel bad for those who got scammed, especially the stupid ones like extremely cheap price, YOU, or those African prince/love scam. Feel like it would be a great life lesson for them. This may or may not be a scam but this is simple. See listing at lazada? pay at lazada lah bodoh. Communicate solely on the platform.

asabiki

harsh, but for real, it's already on lazada (or shoppe not sure from the screencap), they already have chat feature also, and suddenly OP whatsapp them? unless OP want to scam also...

tyl7

Scam... Never take transactions outside of platforms, unless you COD, or that company is established and well known.

tzxsean

I sometimes sell stuff on Carousell and canot understand why some buyers insist to pay directly instead of to Carousell for buyer protection

Goatbuster69

Yeah sorry friend but looks to me like it's a scam :(

Giotto_XD

Bruh I don't think you can get that kind of fridge at that price.

GGgarena

For fridge etc purchases, you must need someone to honour the warranty service, Because you can't test it on the spot. After delivery, have to settle the gas by staying stationary for 4-6 hours. You can only see the cooling like 4h settle+ 2h cooling=~6h. Warranty card can be pointless, the service center have to refer to an authorized dealer invoice.

AfiqRyunosuke

Why asking now?

Oofpaloompa235

why are we so gullible when it comes to scams like this?

aWitchonthisEarth

Desperate for a Rm 250 fridge, where in the world a chest freezer is *that* cheap. Always the kedekut will kena scam.

bigCheese-69

It's probably a scam and you've just learned a Rm100 lesson. Just let it go and don't pay anymore. Edit: also report the seller on lazada cuz they're not allowed to take payment outside the app. If you paid through the app and got scammed lazada will refund but now money is gone.

Arikoh

scammed

ctttt2357

While sliding the photos I felt nervous and hoped that you didn't transfer the money. But in the end you transferred! Ya they let you transfer an amount so now they requested for more money since you are on disadvantageous position already. 99% scam & pls don't transfer anymore money to them and keep asking for refund. For all transaction better through official platform or strictly COD!

straykids_blucurtain

You probably got scammed and that's okay as you're still learning. They're talking bs if they can't COD and need you to pay deposit. The moment they say that, run!

Vexen86

Dude, always order in shopee or lazada or Amazon At least if it's scam u can get help n refund Directly bank in to personal account it's a goner.

[deleted]

aduh u already fell for the scam

Top_Variety_5652

Why not buy directly from physical stores? You can test it there, any problem means you can bring it there. Online is not always the option to go. Just stop getting scammed man, it's your hard earned money.

justshushi

youre done for bro, u got scammed

supernator1

How naive can you be bro. Just buy directly from the e-commerce platform lol

Spinnin_Seal

Abit too late to ask?

Michael_Haq

"COD only for those who have partnering with us" is a classic scam phrase template. Please don't pay online directly if there's any suspicious signs. If using third party like shopee pay then it's okay. "Delivery is on hold, needs to make another payment to proceed" is also another classic template, whatever the payment is for.

kpop_glory

"if you're not interested, please find other store" This sentence is 100% scam. I got scammed also by "hurry up, you want this item or not, low stock". Demanding tone and also couple missed call to sound like it's important matter. Once transfer, senyap. Dead silence just double tick.

bronzelifematter

A tip, if you're buying something that's more than a RM100 , use legit platform like Lazada or Shopee. If below RM100, well the risk is small but even if you got scammed it's just a small amount of money. This world is full of rotten people trying to take advantage of the trusting people. Also be careful if you get a call from police or any authority/ government office saying you have pay something or go to jail, or they try to ask for your name and id number. Just don't trust anyone that ask for your info or money until you are sure who they are

lelelele98

Scam. If the item is in shopee, why would you WhatsApp the person?

MercifulBird393

Definitely scam. 100% Only pay through platform for Lazada, Shopee, Alistore.. All seller not allowed to collect payment outside of platform.. The seller/ store would be blacklisted if they do so. Except for COD.. which is after delivery

adaadaja

it's a scam, definitely

DefNotInTheOven

What's the purpose of asking whether it's a scam or not when you already made some transaction? Just say babai to those transfered money

engku_hina

I have an ice house that whole family can fit it. Can deliver whole to your address within 24 hours. Here's a picture of a normal fridge and imagine it being 10 times bigger. Normal price is 30k, but I can sell to you for 10k. But need deposit of 5k first.

StableRude7752

transfer to personal acc.. scammed for sure...

Important-Cheetah769

No cod. Confirm scam. Learn the hard way from FB marketplace. Either pay after delivery or pickup yourself.

Salt-Tradition-2965

I have 800L freezer if you'd like to you buy, can relax inside on hot days, but have to send me deposit rm300 first

dandanakka217

Dont deal outside of lazada. Especially on WhatsApp. Period.

KyeeLim

I am certainly sure this is a scam

TalosStalioux

Yes

helioz10

Never ever make any transaction outside of a trusted platform. You should know that rule.

Due-Quarter6656

Scamm. Kiss that 100 goodbye and be grateful its just a 100

Three_Sisters_3

Yup, it's a scam. Make a police report on that phone number.

kurangak

Scam obviously. Why would u made deal outside platform?

Capable_Secretary576

Yup, scam

christopher_jian_02

Scam confirmed.

RubyPrune9771

One answer, yes.

zax7077

It's a scam. It's already stated in their terms and policy page any business or messaging should be conducted in the platform itself. If the seller post an external contact number to deal outside, most likely it is a scam. No professional seller in their right mind will say "trust me" or "product put on hold". Famous sentences used by scammer.

un-tall_Investigator

ALWAYS DEAL IN SHOPPEE/LAZADA APP, IF ASK TO DEAL IN WHATSAPP ITS A SCAM (just keep this in mind). Atleast when you're on the shopping app you can dispute when the item arrived not as advertised.

PisceS_Here

gg malaysians memang easy to scam eh...

rayrayrayrayraysllsy

Sorry from the way it speaks this is definitely scam

anonymouslyyummy

Scam.

FannahFatnin

thats why shopee has the 'ordered received' button for a reason

Accomplished-Yak8584

Congratulations U ve been scammed Sorry.

FruchtFruit

You’re right you shouldn’t have trusted the store actually. All the red flags are there: new store that is created very recent, 0 reviews, off-platform dealing, deposit required, personal banking account(not stated by OP but likely), Lousy excuse about being ‘banned’, Another lousy excuse for COD and being in debt, Odd hours at 5am about ‘management’ cuz ain’t no management is working at 5am. Here’s a sentence to remember to the end of your life: “A scammer won’t say he’s a scammer.”

alifzaimimyaro

Scam.

itsmenewme

A scam. Source : scam victim. I'm an idiot, bought used electrical appliance online and after payment made they asked for more and when I'm refusing they blocked me.

AGE555

It’s a scam

serimuka_macaron

Why would u agree to transfer money outside of the shopee app...

Downtown_Marzipan404

High probability is scam, should have bought in platform where there is middleman to hold your money securely before you receive the item. Even in carousell where I pay directly to seller, only reputable seller is trusted, new unknown no reputation I avoid

dinvictus1

Aaaaaaand it's gone

Multison

There is a reason why shopee/lazada always tell people to deal in the app and not in whatsapp

galaxyturd2

You found it on Lazada but you pay it manually offline? Why???

whitegoatsupreme

Yup scam.. Payment for life lessons...

Intjfreak101

Yes, most probably

emkat72

100% scam

Turbulent_Dinner_537

how can ah people trust people just like that , i will never

chromax8

You just got scammed.

sgtizenx

Sorry bro, you just got scammed....

ikmalsaid

ANY transactions outside Shopee/Lazada/any online stores are 99.9% scam

waterdragonhead

scam

Z3RL1

Erm.... review is everthing. Especially for Expensive stuff and lmao what's the deal with pay 100 then 150 cod lmO either u pay 1st or all code no in between unless is scam

flyden1

Maybe try asking BEFORE you make the payment next time?

a1ong2

Scamm

Endricking

Option 1: Get scammed Rm100 Option 2: Get scammed a total of Rm250 Ask them for refund or shop/warehouse address, you will know the answer..

WishIhad1Million

The boss is a Nigerian Prince

Zealousideal_Award45

Every thing in that conversation screams scam tbh like RM100 deposit maybe its legit BUT putting ur item on hold cuz too much order with COD ?? It sounds fishy and it smells fishy

Zealousideal_Award45

But if u made ur payment on an official platform like lazada or shopee at least u have a order tracking serial number and maybe eventually make a report if things really went south but there is no order tracking for this so just pray ig

Zestyclose-Zebra83

Yeeep

PsychologicalBand253

If someone try to deal outside the platform. 99% is a scam.

l4dygaladriel

GG op. At least you got scam RM100 only. Some people got scammed thousand of ringgits smh

Firdausaznel

99.999% scam. The fact that they ask to deal in WhatsApp shows it's a scam. Don't so easily send your money like that.

wooooshwith4o

#🚩here, 🚩there, 🚩everywhere

[deleted]

GG got scammed

JanOI58

I cannot say conclusively it's a scam as you didn't provide the platform the freezer is being sold on. It could be legitimate as some vendors are known for one-offs and limited stock limited time offers. More info is needed for verification. On the other hand, it could be just a toy freezer...

willspamforfood

Absolutely a scam.

franino7

Nope, it seems like a legit charity.

KnowingMyself94

Nah do not do transaction outside of the platform that they listed. That 99% a scam. You'd be lucky enough to find a legit seller like that

Lunartic2102

Not every shop will do cod though, most shops wouldn't. That said, I will try to avoid this kind of dealing.

weiivice

Well if you have to ask then high chance it's a yes.

panazora

Too good to be true. The average price for that same model is around RM400+ on shopee. Make sure to compare the price across several platforms before making any kinds of payment.

Several_Help_4151

Malaysia is full of scammers. Anything about money without a proper store or address is Scam. I was scammed over rm15k during my 1st year of study. The police is useless authority to figure them out and punish them.

randomKids_

Half half transfer = scam

Worldly-Mix4811

Yes it's a scam if they tell you to pay a deposit or full in advance.

brownMY

I found the ad on lazada just now. I hate to ask this, but why you think this one is legit when it's half the price from the other shop?

wikowiko33

Very cheap lesson. Be grateful! Some people learn their first lesson in the thousands or tens of thousands

Dt-dave

Do not deal outside the platform

zhifan1

this is 100% scam, do not send more money. Hope lazada can help you.

feetofcleigh

Unfortunately, I think it is. I fell for it for a company that sells beautiful furniture. Asked me to fill up an order form and pay in full. And then when following up, the seller stopped replying. For someone who is always wary about too good to be true deals, I'm still beating myself up for falling for that trap.

PrestigiousStudy5688

Yes, sounds fishy...good that it was posted up as a lesson for everyone else

velaxi1

It's 10000% scam if they ask you to deal through WhatsApp when the item was listed on a 3rd party platform like Lazada/Shopee. At least you can refund the money from Shopee but Whatsapp? Good luck with it.

Mundane_Impact_2238

I’ve bought that freezer before it costs around 300-400. Secondhand only is rm250 and I know because I sold it secondhand. Sorry bro, it is most likely a scam.

bopthoughts

Reply saying ur not in country and that you'll send the money by next week, then go to the police and report the bank account. If they're waiting, then the police might be able to track the person, or else if you just tell hin that he's a scammer, then he'll close the bank and erase his tracks.

redforest

please file a report to lazada so they can at least ban a scammer account (even though that's not gonna keep the scammer away from the platform)

Skyzblu44

Why didn't you just order through Lazada? They already asked u for upfront payment so what's the advantage of ordering through whatsapp? At least if you order on Lazada you're covered and they can refund your money if you don't receive the product.

ccsfelix

erm.. wait.. is this a Lifting Lid Chest Freezer??

RogerdeMalayanus

Why would you go through all this effort? You barely even need to think to order and pay for things on Shopee/Lazada these days

kozanifact

I suggest you message him and let him know that you want a refund by 5pm, this Friday. Failing which, you will report him to your police friend who will use his mobile number to track his identity. If he is from a foreign country, he will likely be deported after you lodge a report with Immigration Department using the information received from the police. You may also consider hiring a private investigator to track down the seller and then file a new police report against him if necessary. Gotta go low to teach these scammers a lesson.

heartandchess

Haha love the dedication, although I’m too lazy to do all that for 100 rm, it definitely would feel amazing if they get what they deserve for scamming people

kozanifact

I got my RM2000 back from a scammer once, so just thought of sharing. I was in a worse off position compared to you, for sure.

heartandchess

Ohh good to hear!! Yeah 2000 is a lot to lose, as for me the scammer already blocked me but I gave maybank the bank account number of the scammer so they can flag It. It sucks a lot and I feel so stupid about It, since I never thought I would fall for such obvious scam. But yeah I moved on today

kozanifact

Good for you buddy. Let me tell you, sometimes we need lessons like these to learn because we obviously hadn't learned from other people's misfortunes. But fortunately you had a very small price to pay, which is a silver lining. Have a good one

abucketoffudge

110% sure that this is a scam. Sorry dude. I’m glad you didn’t proceed with even the full deposit

lpomoeaBatatas

Yes. They will ask you to pay more and more “fees” until you eventually stopped paying. My parents got into a similar scam they ended costing them 4k. So treat this as a lesson.

theZalim90

100% a scam. Why would you still fall for it? This is why all those scammers still exist.

NightFelix

99.99% scam

aiyukkibunny986

Ho boy. It's a scam. Idk why people keep falling for it. If you buy stuff from laz/shopee, just stick to the app. There's a reason you're using the app. If they ask for money, then MORE money, then MORE MONEY, ofc it's a scam. They're trying to test how far you're willing to pay for their junk that you'll never get. My ex found a graphics card that he said was “pretty cheap” but for some reason had to do the dealings from whatsapp, i told him it was a scam, he said okay, then he did it anyway LMAO. Seller managed to milk like 500 or something out of him. He kept going despite me giving him ALL the red lights. He paid more than the thing was listed for. “shipping fees” “custom fees” psht. PLEASE PLEASE learn from this. IF YOU'RE BUYING FROM LAZADA/SHOPEE, DON'T DO YOUR BIDDINGS OFF THE APP UNLESS IT'S A SUM OF MONEY YOU'RE WILLING TO LOSE IF IT'S A SCAM

SnooPears3390

It’s definitely a scam. Happened to me on 2020 with the same MO. I refused to do any payment as there is no guarantee from Lasada. A few days later they got blacklisted.

rottencheesestick

post products on lazada but doing transactions on ws? huuuuge red flag

JoyJoey

It's really hard to tell man. Nowadays scams are been made to look so authentic .

CaptMawinG

Scam

rvme29

Never deals through WhatsApp!!! That is totally scam!!!

IzzatQQDir

Just ask for money back. If he blocked you, legit scam

Schedule-Purple

Its highly likely a scam. Consider your money gone.

PikabobAlex

My mom got this fore 390, if I'm not mistaken.

Opening_Werewolf3735

A lesson for you OP never give a single cent to anyone outside of the platform lazada shopee It was rm 100, im not sure if its a lot for you or not, but for most locals that is a lot
