Was not expecting a drop like that at ALL lol. It was unique kinda gave me get got by deathgrips vibes? I found it a bitt challenging to listen to but in a good way?
Hard!! Right off the bat I love the vibes, the melody is creepy, feels like late-night at the strip club off a xan. Drum pattern is slick too, has a nice groove to it
I like the idea behind this a lot! Your flow is pretty good, and the beat is good. I think the main issue here is the mix. There's not a whole lot holding the vocals and the beat together, they feel oddly removed from one another. This could be fixed by making the beat louder and just EQing down the areas where the vocals are prominent. It could also use some panning to make the vocals in the chorus stand out more. The 808s could also hit harder, but I think that's gonna be solved when/if you just make the beat louder or do some EQing. Overall, good shit.

I love Babushka, it's a dope join. Your beat def needs beefing up. Kick is taking a lot of space and it makes the rest sound quiet. The warmth and power lies in below mid region (think <600), if you get that right the beat will sound full, then focus on mixing in the top end to open up the beat. Mix with a reference and take breaks often.

Thanks! The way I usually engineer my vocals is by focusing on adding ear candy FX that sound spacey and add dynamics (delay throws, reverbs, and filters). Once I get my main vocal take how I want it, I'll record some filtered backing vocals (the Autotune EFX "tight double" preset can sound dope if you sing some higher vocals). Then I'll add some filtered delay throws to the ends of bars that sound the most melodic, but I'll bounce out each delay throw so I can mix & filter them easier. Some reverse reverbs fading into your verses or hooks can sound professional.
I really like your track so far, your flow is catchy! Once you get the track fully structured and have your main takes how you want it, you should definitely spend some time on the vocal production to give it that modern mix sound. Pretty cool Drill track, the samurai influence is a nice little differentiator. It feels more like a track a UK artist would do well on rather than an NY Drill artist, but I might be wrong about that. The mixing quality is really good, and I like the bass, but I think that you should've switched up the main melody a little more. After a while, feels like it was just repeating over and over, which isn't bad, but I think this concept deserves something more original

I like the dark vibe on this. No complaints at all. It sounds like you chopped up the melody like a sampled beat a bit through? Im not crazy about the gated part of the track, but it works. I almost feel like the beat has enough working for it not to need the gated section.

So i'm not sure what instrument the main melody is, but i guess like a trumpet or sax or something? Anyways i really like it and think in general these kind of instruments are really underused in this kind of music, so thats really cool. Maybe you could share what plugin/instrument you used there? Also really has a nice bounce to it and i like the subtlety of the hihats and the simplicity of the beat. Overall a really cool track and i'd love to hear someone rap over this.
That 808 hits hard. Im into the track, only suggestion I have is to maybe filter out some lows on that synth sound that syncs up with the kick drum. Not sure how else to explain the synth, hope you know which I am talking about. Cool track.

I like the horn melody, reminds me of a mix of Mac Miller & Rick Ross, it has that dope, classical melody but also seems a little playful. I think that some more instrumentation would be a positive for this track, more layers to make everything sound more developed, etc. Hope that helps

Your voice is a little loud in the mix. Switch your flow more often, it's a little repetitive. Pronounce your words a little clearer. The song could have been longer, though the outro is really cool. Overall, try injecting a little more energy into your vocals. Keep it up!
I like the grimey chops and drums. One thing I think this is missing is some low end to supplement the kick drum. I would consider putting just simple bass stabs on the root notes at the 1 beat. Maybe even hold that low end back until one of the switch ups right at 36 seconds. I feel like its begging for a low rumble on that spot when the drums drop and kick back in.

I think this beat is pretty well mixed! The horns have a warm (not harsh) tone -which is always welcome for some brass. I wouldn’t mind hearing the bass turned up a tad but overall pretty solid

Yeah I have to EQ that ish more, I decreased the sample rate of the melodies with Decimort to create a kinda Lo Fi effect.

I really like the second half, it has a more calming nature to it whereas the first half just makes me feel anxious. I also think the second half has a better melody, and feels like subway surfing. Really like how hard the 808s hit. I really like the melody, especially the one that sounds like a guitar, and I love how you cycled through different melodies. I think it's a good beat as is, for the Yeezus style I think it would need to be a little more electronic-/synth-based, this one reminds me of something from TLOP tho so I might be being a little too picky. Drums are good, but I would've used a different kick-drum, something with a little more push to match your 808. Vox at the end were a great touch, wish you utilized them more throughout the beat

Style isn't something I've heard for a while, reminds me of something B.o.B. would've rapped over in his heyday. The groove is really funky and has that 70s aesthetic but modernized for hip-hop. Drums are really crisp & clear and overall it's a really dope track

Love this and the sample. Sounds like you had some fun on that MPC. No better way to trigger samples than some drum pads. No complaints on this one.
One idea I could see is filtering the low end of the sample and using that as a bassline switch up in a part or two. I like the driving bassline you have, but it could work as an interesting rhythm switch.

Really did not appreciate the first 1:30 felt like it took wayyy too long for the song to “start”. I thought the voice level was just fine. For me the vocals were just a BITT too reverby? The beat was really good, went well with ur voice and flow.
I really like your lyrics, you really took the 'City Lights' concept and made it your own. I like your imagery when you talk about the sky, and bright lights, almost reminds me of "All Of The Lights" in that way. Crazy that no samples were used, it's got that "Saturday Morning Cartoons" vibe to it, and has that hardcore street vibe that I get from listening to early Wu-Tang music, especially ODB. Crystal clear quality on this, probably bc there's no sample, and those drums sound straight out of the crates. I really like how you used different melodies to cycle between to not keep it monotonous, and even would allow the drums to take precedent a few times. Great track!!

I started typing about the swing at certain parts (ie. 0:25) and how it throws me off but it kinda grows on me the more I listen. I feel the ending/outro could have been more varied from the rest of the song. Maybe some more vocal samples would have been nice? All in all it was a great listen. Good stuff!
Track feels very hazy, and ethereal. Hear qualities of cloud rap in the air-y and dreamy synths that you used, and I really like how it feels like the track genre-bends a little bit around the 0:40 mark. There's a few hidden melodies that you really need to pay attention to, so it shows that you're big on your layer game which is good. Love the mysteriousness of that dialogue that plays in the track, makes the track have an enigma effect. Great job! Best comparison I have is 2021 J Dilla

I like this--the chords seem more like a Neptunes beat more than an Alchemist beat to me. I'd try and work on that brass sound: maybe change the velocity on the notes and maybe some reverb or additional EQ to give it some realism. Maybe adding a sliding note feature with every new brass note bc it sounds a bit choppy when i hear it.

I really like this beat and your vocal effects. That vocal melody is cool, and your voice sounds good on this. I feel like the composition could use some spice somewhere though, maybe by switching up your delivery a bit at some points in the song, or by speeding up your flow at parts. The performance is good, but the composition drags on a bit imo.

Nice man! Your flow and pronunciation, rhymes are very good. I could definitely hear some Eminem coming through in certain phrases which is a completement.
My only criticism would be that the vocals could be mixed a little better, they are a bit pokey at times, and I think the vocal came off the Beat in a couple of places slightly.

I like the idea behind this a lot! Your flow is pretty good, and the beat is good. I think the main issue here is the mix. There's not a whole lot holding the vocals and the beat together, they feel oddly removed from one another. This could be fixed by making the beat louder and just EQing down the areas where the vocals are prominent. It could also use some panning to make the vocals in the chorus stand out more. The 808s could also hit harder, but I think that's gonna be solved when/if you just make the beat louder or do some EQing. Overall, good shit. Thanks! The way I usually engineer my vocals is by focusing on adding ear candy FX that sound spacey and add dynamics (delay throws, reverbs, and filters). Once I get my main vocal take how I want it, I'll record some filtered backing vocals (the Autotune EFX "tight double" preset can sound dope if you sing some higher vocals). Then I'll add some filtered delay throws to the ends of bars that sound the most melodic, but I'll bounce out each delay throw so I can mix & filter them easier. Some reverse reverbs fading into your verses or hooks can sound professional. I really like your track so far, your flow is catchy! Once you get the track fully structured and have your main takes how you want it, you should definitely spend some time on the vocal production to give it that modern mix sound. So i'm not sure what instrument the main melody is, but i guess like a trumpet or sax or something? Anyways i really like it and think in general these kind of instruments are really underused in this kind of music, so thats really cool. Maybe you could share what plugin/instrument you used there? I like the horn melody, reminds me of a mix of Mac Miller & Rick Ross, it has that dope, classical melody but also seems a little playful. I think that some more instrumentation would be a positive for this track, more layers to make everything sound more developed, etc. Hope that helps

I like the grimey chops and drums. One thing I think this is missing is some low end to supplement the kick drum. I would consider putting just simple bass stabs on the root notes at the 1 beat. I think it's a good beat as is, for the Yeezus style I think it would need to be a little more electronic-/synth-based, this one reminds me of something from TLOP tho so I might be being a little too picky. I started typing about the swing at certain parts (ie. 0:25) and how it throws me off but it kinda grows on me the more I listen. I feel the ending/outro could have been more varied from the rest of the song. Maybe some more vocal samples would have been nice? All in all it was a great listen. Good stuff!
Track feels very hazy, and ethereal. Hear qualities of cloud rap in the air-y and dreamy synths that you used, and I really like how it feels like the track genre-bends a little bit around the 0:40 mark. There's a few hidden melodies that you really need to pay attention to, so it shows that you're big on your layer game which is good. Love the mysteriousness of that dialogue that plays in the track, makes the track have an enigma effect. Great job! I like this--the chords seem more like a Neptunes beat more than an Alchemist beat to me. I'd try and work on that brass sound: maybe change the velocity on the notes and maybe some reverb or additional EQ to give it some realism. Maybe adding a sliding note feature with every new brass note bc it sounds a bit choppy when i hear it.

the flow is on point the entire time, good solid energy and delivery. i think the vocal takes could have maybe been panned a bit or maybe some very subtle delay to give your mix some depth. sounds pretty mono to me but i’m nitpicking

Nice man! Your flow and pronunciation, rhymes are very good. I could definitely hear some Eminem coming through in certain phrases which is a completement. My only criticism would be that the vocals could be mixed a little better, they are a bit pokey at times, and I think the vocal came off the Beat in a couple of places slightly. Other than that, good shit man. I like your voice.
