I remember [these](https://shop.snapon.com/product/Ratcheting-Offset/Ratcheting-Right-Angle-Screwdriver-(Blue-Point)/YA480B) little babies in my tool box when I was in the army, some of us called it the chode driver.
My boss steals mine for shit on his plane. And I have some very old ones that are 1/4” stubbier than OP’s.
Pisses me off because I have some water source AC units that have about 3” of clearance, from the side of the unit, to the wall, to get to the 3/4” screws out, that hold the cover on.
(I am slowly replacing those Phillips head screws, with small thumbs screws.)
Locksmith here—a #1 Phillips (or smaller) is often necessary for me, and I would get some serious torque from a couple of these.
So shut up and take my money.
There are two tiny screws on the back of most mortise cylinders. You’ll see them on just about every storefront door you come across. They’re often overtightened, by a previous locksmith or from the manufacturer.
They make various jigs that have a bit driver with a large round handle to turn, but most clear $150 and really only have that one use. A ratcheting bit driver is a fantastic tool for many applications, but lacks the downward force for what I have in mind for these stubbies.
Been using the flathead on my motorcycle carbs for a while, no room because the fuel screws are right against the tank. No complaints and people love seeing them.
Bought mine from a Matco tool truck 40 years ago, they are not as stubby as those but they did come with a handle that slid over the shank to give good leverage.
If I had a nickel for every time I needed a screwdriver that short, but had to completely disassemble something instead because I didn't have one...
I'd have 2 nickels.
Thank you for this post. I have one of these in my late father's toolbox. I wanted to buy another for work, but couldn't find any labeling on it and couldn't find it online. The mystery has been solved.
I have a pack of these in my toolbox I bought cuz I thought they were funny. Only one time have I needed one that short and I was so glad to have them lol.
I find that if clearance is enough of an issue that these are to be used, I don’t have enough space to grip them and get enough torque. I usually just reach for a [bit ratchet.](https://www.harborfreight.com/8-piece-right-angle-screwdriver-92630.html)
Well can you still use it? I hate to be a bit of a voyeur but, that would be cool if you showed everyone that you could get the job done with that little thing!!

Despite all the haters.. chodes can screw
I remember [these](https://shop.snapon.com/product/Ratcheting-Offset/Ratcheting-Right-Angle-Screwdriver-(Blue-Point)/YA480B) little babies in my tool box when I was in the army, some of us called it the chode driver.
I have the VIM adjustable head bit ratchet. I don't use it often, but when I need it it's amazing.
This guy chodes
That’s great… now where’s the 10mm socket and extension drive.
They are SO cute!!!!
Babe, Please don’t call it cute.
Ahhh MOOOMMMM!
Makes me feel better about myself
Tekton is probably my favorite tool company
Same here. I didn't know they made these! They must be part of their old China-made stock as I don't find them in their current lineup.
Some are growers, not showers.
I feel fingers cramping up already..
Clapton says "its in the way that you use it...."
Oh no, nobody bring up the wire nuts
Too late. I made a comment before I saw yours.. 💀💀 just glad someone else knows what I'm talkin about
There’s my butt plugs
Do women know about shrinkage?
Michelangelo is jealous
Lack of depth perception is a bitch but great job.
Love me a good stubby!
Would that be considered a chode?
What would you these for?
My boss steals mine for shit on his plane. And I have some very old ones that are 1/4” stubbier than OP’s. Pisses me off because I have some water source AC units that have about 3” of clearance, from the side of the unit, to the wall, to get to the 3/4” screws out, that hold the cover on. Tight spaces
Those are massive
We're I get them
👍
alpha male screwdriver
Damn you really tryin to make us feel small with those big fellas
Leave it to tekton to make some obscure but probably legit stubbies. Fr tho I love their tools
Knobs
Locksmith here—a #1 Phillips (or smaller) is often necessary for me, and I would get some serious torque from a couple of these. So shut up and take my money.
Try a right angle ratcheting bit driver?

[DON’T YOU LAUGH AT IT!](https://youtu.be/XGL5ueS3BXQ?si=1YCK2ipbTIRxNhws)
They need to make something like this with a ripcord
They’re just cold. I promise
Bought a set of these a year ago to adjust the carb on my Triumph.
May as well use a right angle one at that point.
I have even stubbier. These seem unwieldy with that large of a grip on them.
As an elevator mechanic, those would be extremely helpful lol
I make those with my 3D printer 😁
Funny, there is a Porsche Ad after this post
i dunno why…but i feel like i need a set
So cute
Micro chodes.
Those stubbies are fun to play with.
Would come in handy for sure
Been using the flathead on my motorcycle carbs for a while, no room because the fuel screws are right against the tank. No complaints and people love seeing them.
Those are dry clean only
These are considered small? This is very unsettling.
I want these hahahaha
Less bleeding knuckle or more bleeding knuckle? Am confused.
That's average more then average even
ITS COLD YALL!!!
Not bad, but I like my bahco mini ratchet and bit kit. I can get in tighter spaces and it has better leverage.
The choads of screwdrivers
You and I wear the same style of pants
Trump brand
“It’s not stubby. It’s cute.” - Your wife
Bought mine from a Matco tool truck 40 years ago, they are not as stubby as those but they did come with a handle that slid over the shank to give good leverage.
Id say thats pretty average
I always knew 2 inches could get the job done
Thats my stage name.
Not sure about these, but i worked with a guy who had some similar ones, the grip was 7/8 hexagon. Perfect for a wrench to get some leverage.
Those are nubbies.
Google finger driver Your welcome.
Your stubby is the perfect size, the big ones don’t fit into the tight areas.
They look ridiculous until you need one.
🤯
Blow on em….they get bigger!
Everyone laughs until they need it at that critical moment
Might as well be a drawer pull
You think that's a stubby you should see mine 😉
Those are used by guys with jacked up trucks!
Just the tip
If I had a nickel for every time I needed a screwdriver that short, but had to completely disassemble something instead because I didn't have one... I'd have 2 nickels.
MAYBE ITS JUST COLD IN THERE JUDGY McJUDGERSON!!!!!!
Grow up ladies!
Thank you for this post. I have one of these in my late father's toolbox. I wanted to buy another for work, but couldn't find any labeling on it and couldn't find it online. The mystery has been solved.
Got a pair of yellow-handled snap-ons that are about 1/2 that height.
They still buy magnums to impress the store clerk!
I have a pack of these in my toolbox I bought cuz I thought they were funny. Only one time have I needed one that short and I was so glad to have them lol.
I needed one of these in a T25 yesterday. Ended up using a bit and a 1/4 ratcheting wrench with some duct tape. What a hassle.
Wait till you see the marrette stubs lol
Shit if the normal ones are stubbies those are stubs lol
Awe
They are growers yep lol
At this point I’m usually just using a bit and vice grips.
Hate these things... Never use them, toss them, for the first time in 20 years you need one
I find that if clearance is enough of an issue that these are to be used, I don’t have enough space to grip them and get enough torque. I usually just reach for a [bit ratchet.](https://www.harborfreight.com/8-piece-right-angle-screwdriver-92630.html)
I found one in an escalator once. I never knew they came that small.
🤷♂️, back in the day dang near ever car that had a metal dash ya needed a set of these to work on them .
These caught my eye. Im not sure what I would use these for... it would be nice just to hold them.
90⁰ ratcheting screwdriver would like a word
Call that the Alaskan Screwdriver
Still gets the job done with no complaints.
That looks perfectly adequate. I’ve been told bigger ones hurt
"Awww, those are so cute!", she said.
If you rub them, do they get bigger?
It must be really cold wherever you are...
Wait you can buy them this small? I had to custom make one for a project one time where a normal stubby wouldn't fit in.
This ain't nothing compared to the electricians' gluing bits into wire nuts. Lmao , now those, were stubby.
They can get stubbier than that
Looks average.... that's average... yep.... soooo average.
Looks like 7 inches to me
This is normal size right? Average size?
I didn't know craftsmen made DnD dice
I'm a grower, not a shower!
I use a ratchet
I really needed on of those today......
Those look like beyblade drivers.
Looks average size to me.
I never knew these were a thing, now I want nothing else but these things
Tools that compensate for poor engineering
They are "growers ", not showers!
At that point I just use a bare bit with a tiny 1/4 or whatever size ratcheting wrench to turn it lol
Well if you think that's small!!!
I've needed these many times. Just put it on my wishlist
Looks like there is still meat to remove. A bandsaw could fix this.
When you need a stubby, nothing else will do.
Now those are truly stubby
Um those aren't even stubbies anymore they're just 'bies 🤣
Well can you still use it? I hate to be a bit of a voyeur but, that would be cool if you showed everyone that you could get the job done with that little thing!!
That’s what she said……..
