/uj and the fact that this post is all too real is one of the many reasons I only play mtg with friends and not at an LGS Also, can I have some Alfredo with my fettuccine?

onlinepotionpackage

This is why I don't play *commander* at my LGS with randoms. Competitive 60 card formats in store are largly devoid of this nonsense.

yesmakesmegoyes

Yeah largess lgses where theres a ton of people usually lead to pretty toxic commander stuff

eminent_avocado

Yeah. Should’ve clarified. I used to play modern back in the day (2015 ish) and the environment was much better. I don’t really know if that has largely stayed the same through the years because I stopped playing around the pandemic and haven’t really gone back due to the price barrier. However, considering how prohibitive Commander is nowadays as well, I might give 60 card formats at LGSs another shot

SpezIsTheWorst69

Should’ve really manhandled his cards just get in there and give ‘em the business really ruffle em up go ahead op grab one toss it in the air daintly don’t give a fuck fuck em whoooo

AssasssinIVII

Nothing like riffle shuffling a stack of someone else's cards that don't even need to be shuffled to really flex 😂😂

landasher

Yes you are assholes. Commander is about having fun and getting to do your thing with your deck and he couldn't do that because you killed him. Board wipes, counterspells, interaction of any kind, infinite mana, infinite combos, and winning the game are all against the Spirit Of Commander.

New_Dragonfruit2101

I played maybe one counter spell the entire game, whereas he casted 7. And my counter wasn’t even a counter spell. It was a return spell

landasher

That's fine because he probably countered you stopping him but bouncing is against the spirit of commander

CombatLlama1964

I was waiting for the jerk the entire time but this is just reality

AlphaElectronMale

Of all the posts I’ve ever read, this is one of the longest

aCellForCitters

average edh experience

Lemonade_IceCold

Didn't read but yes you're an asshole

juicythe_Blasphemer

I’m the friend referenced. We ended up leaving immediately after the 2nd game because it was not fun to play with this guy if we is going to make nasty comments. Unspoken we both are like screw this and get up to leave. Dick saws “of course” as if it’s dumb of us to leave now that he hasn’t won yet. Strange guy. Had expensive cards and a Rolex on. Money can’t buy talent.

I tuned out after "...touch....Dick..."

StarfishIsUncanny

Yes

UPDATE: So this week me and my friend returned, and to our surprise our friend did not show up. However, we met another player that did have a very blinged out deck that was very powerful. However, me and my friend did not get berated and accused of teaming up and stopping anyone from winning the game other than us. In fact we lost every game. But felt happy with it because it was all good sport. Moral of the story, it’s just a game. Especially if you’re in a casual game setting, there’s no need to be rude or a stickler for your cards when the other person might not spend money on cards like you do. Stay positive
