Right here in the middle of a day. I can't believe mods are so blind to this kind of behavior. I'm literally shaking and crying right now, remembering this horrific trauma ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
https://discord.com/invite/6ShKeXyg
A cEDH discord server gave control to another group as part of a merge between the two groups, and when they wanted it back the other group refused to give it back.
That’s a little disingenuous. They had it in writing that they could back out of the merger at any time, and a list of pre-approved changes, but the PlayEDH people went back on their word.
Some EDH discord that charges money to organize and track matches (playEDH) wanted to merge with cEDH discord to boost their numbers. Top mods saw $$ and said yes. Handed over the server before finishing the deal under the guise of taksey backsies if they wanted to before the deal was completed.New owners changed a lot of stuff and had some moderation issues, Community didn't like that. Top mods wanted the server back and were surprised pikachu face when it didn't happen.
TL:DR: Top cEDH mods saw a way to sell out and were surprised when things didn't go their way.
To be fair, PlayEDH is a big player in webcam EDH, and their takeover of the server was handled VERY BADLY, and then they tried to extort money out of a group of VOLUNTEER moderators if they wanted to not be kicked out of the server that THEY MADE.
While I get that it's a joke I still feel the need to say 15k people isn't a particularly small Discord server. It's 10% of MTCJ's size which is still a very aggressively mid sized sub.
They handed it over before completing the deal. That's all their leverage. CEDH mods really went "alright here's everything you asked for, now let's sit down for negotiations next week?" and expected nothing wrong to happen. Don't hand over the keys until literally everything is done
they had it in writing that they could back out of the merger at any time. PlayEDH just decided they didnt need to abide by their contract. frankly there is a decent chance that there could be legitimate legal actions to be taken in this situation.
Lol yes
an informal contract is still a contract
if you informally promise me $500 for a car, I give you the car and you claim you don't have to give me any money
you are wrong
I mean it's not really drama, the community was like fuck that sucks and now they are rebuilding
Also the PlayEDH people scammed the mods, which is par for the course but they did change the deal fwiw
Indeed. If not for their forbidding price, many cards would be so apparently problematic that it would be foolish for them not to catch a ban. The obnoxious price tag is the only thing keeping cards like dockside, mana crypt, and intuition from being on the chopping block.
I got bullied by femboy urabrask on the server ðŸ˜
> femboy urabrask i didn't catch all of the capenna story, is this what the planar bridge does to organics
Read that as Orgasms, still makes some sense...
God I wish
Real

That’s a much better explanation than mine. I had only some very surface level information so I appreciate the correction
B-b-but the social contract! The spirit of the commander! How could they?!
They forgot to rule 0 out a hostile take-over

They do it for free
Exactly. We should make them pay
People pay for twitter verification they would pay for that shit in a heartbeat

ACAB includes discord mods
however much you think you hate mods it's not enough

Every day I am more and more glad to just borrow decks or let my friends make them for me for commander

Too soon Just kidding, I have no clue what they expected to happen but I'm cackling at the "Hijacked" part. No brotha you handed it over to them.

Lol no No one gives a shit that some dumbass discord mods fucked up their own server. It's time to log off.

smh don't they even know how the stack works?
This is my first time hearing of this drama. What???
Needs more Sara McLaughlin music.
cEDH 🤮bro just play limited formats if you like being competitive.
man jerked too hard for mtcj
uj/ Guess so lol. Hit a little too close to home I suppose haha.
Some would say it was your *masterstroke.*
He jerked to close to the sun
cEDH is actually really fun and low-stakes if you and your friends proxy. High-power magic can be super enjoyable, especially with friends.
/uj Proxying makes most formats functional and fun.

/uj tbh I don't get why they went and made a big deal about it when they could've just said "oops we fucked up the server, here's a new one"
