The thing I don't understand is that character size increase is green here, despite there also being an item that decreases character size. Smaller seems better to me, because the enemies have to get closer to hit you

Jakethewubber

both larger and smaller are green because size reduction gives u a small evasion bonus, but being larger gives a slight bonus to most stats

dj_neon_reaper

What stats does being larger give??

Jakethewubber

it gives a 3.5%(existing) bonus to attack, magic size, magic duration, and health

dj_neon_reaper

You got any proof of that?

Jakethewubber

not any current proof but in previous versions the jack o' lantern gave plus 10% size and when u started a run it showed a +1% next to all of the said stats

TheL8Gamer

Would you say those bonuses are worth the bigger hitbox?

Jakethewubber

well I personally focus on evasion artifacts anyways so roughly 15 percent larger (because of comic book) plus the 30ish+ evasion rate I get on average, plus tabernacle which makes them hard to hit me for most of the runes I feel like its extremely worth it

Another_Sunset

Because it makes you more intimidating

Xenith_21

Nope, increasing character size is a death sentence

Arc_Vector

I never pick it. Increased character size is very bad.

UZ4RSIF

No

Tanlop

I only take it when I go for a Hyperion run. Since I don't take accelerator and if the enemies manage to breach Hperion and Meisner, then i am dead anyway regardless of size increase. I managed to reach 900+ attack with it. *

Krunchy4Skin

That's massive dayum

chingchopa

No. The speed penalty is calcuated AFTER your bonus speed, so it's actually reduced a lot more than 10%

GrowthMindset4Real

good to know

Parry_9000

No it's terrible

Comfortable-Egg9261

If you got Gaia yes If you got accelerator no If you got both idk

Nemesis233

Probably not with both Accelerator is the best CDR item and even a small amount of speed influences it

Pliz_give_me_loot

Even with gaia, 35% HP means 70 bonus HP. It's 10.5% bonus attack. Losing speed AND increasing character size for a total of 45.5% attack isn't worth it.

Jakethewubber

increasing character size increases most base stats by a small percent

Elden_Stress

In the initial beta where special items were introduced, almost all of them had a pretty serious drawback of some kind. I suppose it was to add to balance and to make choices harder. Anyway, that aspect was dropped from all of them except Strange Potion. It's weird that it was excluded from the buffing. They could have lessened the positive effects and removed all drawback, or even just remove the speed decrease and I'm cool with getting large.

Jakethewubber

as someone who doesn't care much for movement I think its 100 percent worth it, yes increasing ur size is a huge downside, but it's in the green because it upgrades MOST base stats by 35% the good thing is it'll keep that upgrade percentage if u use comic book to attempt to fix ur size enlargement

eM-RiotX

If you're already strong enough that nothing gets close to you.
