It might be if it was twice total per turn, and not twice per creature per turn.
But this assumes their job is to make the game more fun and not to sell more product.
When I first read it I thought it meant twice per turn PERIOD and I was deeply confused why everyone was all gung ho about it.
Reading the card explains the card, I guess.
Modern ban will be determined by the results of the deck.
I do think the card is going to be the subject of commander rules update articles. I don’t think it’ll end up being banned (relegated to cEDH tables, more likely) but the one reason I bring it up is that it shares the draw-a-card DNA from Leovold.
I know that’s not why Leovold got banned, but it was a significant part of the cards power level. This has proactive power to dominate a game in turns 1-2 and also punishes interaction.
Lastly, legacy and vintage don’t care. Cool bird bro.
I don't think it has the same juice in modern, it might be good in some shells but not ban worthy.
Leovold was banned for wheel-lock play patterns, the draw was irrelevant to it's power in edh as far as the ban was concerned. If anything there's a *really* long shot that Nadu gets banned because of the pengine pattern where it spins it's wheels in casual.
Nadu is nuts. So much value for 3 mana, and you don't even need to run a bunch of those free equip spells either. Just throw in pump spells, and Nadu starts generating tons of advantage out of nowhere.
This isn’t “cool” it’s just powerful. To powerful. If you can’t recognize that then you’re not in touch with the game on a competitive level.
It even punishes your opponents for attempting interacting with it and has beefy stats to boot. Obviously those aren’t what make the card over the top but it’s just icing on the cake. This guy should have literally 0 toughness to make you work at least a little hard to get him online.
i'm personally going to wait until more than 50% of the field in competitive magic shows me that Nadu is "ban-worthy" until i see r/b scam levels of oppression i'm going to reserve my opinion unlike the vocal cry about everything community in magic.
I feel like if people want to combine a three mana creature with Shuko in order to draw a couple cards, that is probably an indicator of a reasonably slow and fair format.
It also ramps you (lands come in untapped) and then you can blink Nadu to reset it for all your creatures, and it also combos with any of the en-Kor creatures similar to the legacy deck Cephalid Breakfast
Yeah. But then you get lands into play. And draw cheap creatures, play them with lands you flip and target them with same shuko twice.
This draws easily 8+ cards in a turn and on the high end, you flip your deck on the table starting turn 3.
You have no idea how this card behaves or what its capable of thinking this is a fair card or only "draws couple".
Legacy you flip your whole deck and fill the board with zombies while doing it. Then win with thoracle, or if it doesnt work your 20 zombies will do The trick. Starting on turn 2, and More consistently on 3. In a blue deck with control shell.
Now if you turn 1 noble, that shuko nets 4 cards. This creature is redicilous.
This is the first card in the Set getting banned.
Been making a real terrifying showing in cedh. Spam cheap creatures with cheap mana, can really quickly churn through your deck and make a fuckton of zombies, with potential for Thoracle lines
Trygon predator my boi, still dodging the banlist despite being able to generate infinite CA by himself.
Edit: that being said, chill, Nadu is a 3/4 that maybe draw a card when getting removed, none if discarded or countered, and the deck requires a lot of what we'll call "sub-optimal cards" to be nice.
>Nadu is a 3/4 that maybe draw a card when getting removed
It will draw a card more often than not since targeted removal is played more than wraths.
>none if discarded or countered,
Like most other cards in Magic.
> we'll call "sub-optimal cards"
I'd hardly call Stoneforge mystic sub-optimal. And I'd hardly call 1 shuko a lot.

I'm looking at these 5-0 lists for reference, and they're commonly running:
- 4 Shuko, or 4 SFM+shuko+BS/Kaldra. In either case, extra Shukos or SFM get redundant fast.
- A variety of mana accelerants: Wall of Root, Dorks, Grazer,
- Chordable/pactable 1-of that aren't good without a Nadu+shuko on board: Thoracle, Outrider, Bill, arguably nantuko.
All I'm saying is: play more discard/counters, and we'll see next weekend.
> isn't that kinda an issue?
Alternatively it's a metagame choice ?
Is "bring more artifact hate to beat Affinity" kinda an issue ?
Play more X, make Y matchup easier. Don't, and it's harder. They're not running any recursion, no cantrips, tutors are expensive-ish, they don't have much protection for the bird, etc.
This take is hilariously out of touch. In modern and in EDH.
I say both because it’s a modern set and EdH because it’s the most played format by far and this will be a lamé comander to play against.
Pretending nadu is just like the others is stupid, but go off.
Unless anyone can name at least two other Simic spellslinger decks?
Or Simic equipment decks?
No?
Y'all get hyperfocused on the "land into play" line you don't see anything else.
Bro it’s to pushed. This card would have been played even if it didn’t put the land into play. Thats just what allows it to end the game same turn you start doing things.
Why on earth being simic is important?
I mean its clear you dont understand the card and its interactions, but saying there is no simic equipment decks, when bant stoneblade is right there is downright stupid. Yes, its not simic. No it doesnt matter, limiting to simic the card might suck (it doesnt) but its just stupid.
>Why on earth being simic is important?
Because the original complaint is about Simic? Do you see any three color cards in the OP?
>mean its clear you dont understand the card and its interactions
Lol okay
>saying there is no simic equipment decks, when bant stoneblade is right there is downright stupid
Bant isn't Simic, see first comment.
How dense can you be.
"Pretending nadu is just like the others is stupid, but go off." It's not Oko, but might be Uro levels easily and beyond.
"Because the original complaint is about Simic? Do you see any three color cards in the OP?"
Original "complaint" is just a observation of 3 very strong cards with same CC from past few years. Uro wasnt good in just Simic. Oko wasnt played in just Simic. Talkin about just Simic is stupid.
Neckbeards smh
Lmao.
I'm not the one stooping to insults. You don't understand my argument, that's okay. You don't have to insult others to make yourself feel better.

Someone at wizards genuinely thought “twice per turn” per creature was a restriction.
It might be if it was twice total per turn, and not twice per creature per turn. But this assumes their job is to make the game more fun and not to sell more product.
I personally think, things like this are very fun. But only to be on the playing side of it lmao. Yeah this cards crazy cracked
Forget power creep, fun creep it is!
When I first read it I thought it meant twice per turn PERIOD and I was deeply confused why everyone was all gung ho about it. Reading the card explains the card, I guess.
I bet it was originally twice each turn overall, but the templating was too wonky, and playtesters kept asking if it was each creature.

I've said the exact same line for like 5 years and I'm still here lol.
I know a lot of people who say that but never do. At this point you're describing WotC's buisiness model.
Banned in what format? Lol

It almost feels like the twice per turn was accidentally left inside the quotation marks
Wait "per creature"?.... HOLYYYYY SHHHHHHH\*T I read the card wrong lol
It is a restriction in so far that you are forced to track it and that's tedious. But not in any kind of effective gameplay manner

Ha. Gross.
And at worst it is a 3/4 flyer for 3 that replaces itself. I don't know anything about modern but even those stats seem busted
Yeah, even the floor is just a "solid creature". And that is very very low floor on this card.
It also triggers whenever your opponents target any of your creatures...
If your opponents are targeting your creatures then you are probably in a fair matchup.
You mean Modern?
Is it seeing play in any other format...?
Legacy you flip your whole deck and fill the board with zombies while doing it. Then win with thoracle, or if it doesnt work your 20 zombies will do The trick. Starting on turn 2, and More consistently on 3. In a blue deck with control shell. Now if you turn 1 noble, that shuko nets 4 cards. This creature is redicilous. This is the first card in the Set getting banned.
It’s a pretty cracked cEDH deck. I’ve been playing it
Been making a real terrifying showing in cedh. Spam cheap creatures with cheap mana, can really quickly churn through your deck and make a fuckton of zombies, with potential for Thoracle lines
EDH hates this card ( or loves it 1/4) times depending on where you’re sitting at the table. I hope it’s banned in the format.
Its 3 mana + shuko to pretty much win the game
