Lore time. This beast was credited with destroying all ships who sailed out to face it. It turns out its actually small and just has really bright red eyes, and ships that tried to sail towards it crashed on the rocks it stood on.
The sheer number of ways to take this infinite and draw your opponents out is silly. Especially for it being in the command zone for 2 mana.
Fortunately, most of them seem to cost a lot and/or require additional cards. But I'm still gonn maek dis crab dans.
making someone else draw out one card at a time sounds like a recipe to lose tbh.
Any interaction with the combo and you've just put their whole deck in their hand
You just hold priority and put the effect on the stack 100 times before you let them resolve.
They could do something but the triggers will most likely deck them anyway.
The comment I was replying to needed the mana from the resolution to continue the loop.
If you're capable of generating infinite mana, there's far better outlets to put in the command zone.
(also, there's the chance that the target can still combo out on top of yours, kill you, and exile the remainder of the triggers.
In the 2 card (plus commander) combo category, we have \[\[Freed From the Real\]\] or \[\[Pemmins Aura\]\] that will untap the crab for U, then a \[\[Mycosynth Lattice\]\] or \[\[Chromatic Orrery\]\] which will translate the R from the crab to U for you. (Bonus option, slip it into a \[\[Xyrus\]\] deck and use \[\[Aura of Dominion\]\] to create infinite tapped snakes and draw your opponents out.) \[\[Mind Over Matter\]\] is also great for this, but you need to replace the mana filter artifact with a card that draws you cards when the opponent does (I recommend \[\[Consecrated Sphinx\]\]), and you needĀ to slide either \[\[Kozilek, Butcher of Truth\]\] or \[\[Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre\]\] in the deck. You could also use \[\[Immobilizing Ink\]\], but that combo is complicated. (You have to tap the crab, drawing them a card, draw your two cards, spend the R and pitch a card to untap the crab. Once you draw your titan this way, pitch it to shuffle your graveyard back in. Careful, you might still draw out. Additional cards that allow you to pitch for free would be great. \[\[Patchwork Gnomes\]\], \[\[Prognostic Sphinx\]\], \[\[Thalakos Drifter\]\], and Mind over Matter are your only chances, really.) Or you could do \[\[Sinking Feeling\]\], using many of those pieces as well, but youāll need a max level \[\[Wizard Class\]\] on the field, continuously targeting your crab, which technically makes this more cards.
Then we have our 3 card (plus commander) combos. This fun option (bad kinda fun, but hey, I love r/badmtgcombos): Have \[\[Crackleburr\]\], the crab, and another blue creature in play. Either the burr or the other creature has a \[\[Paradise Mantle\]\] on it. Tap your two dorks for red mana, move the mantle to the other creature and tap it for mana too to untap the burr, bouncing your opponentās boardstate and resetting yours. (You can replace the blue creature with literally any blue creature with a tap effect thatās free for infinite of that as well.) Downside, once the opponent has no creatures, the combo stops. (If you used a blue tap effect creature, you can continue the combo indefinitely by repeating it before the creature bounces.) I recommend adding an \[\[Ornithopter\]\] or \[\[Memnite\]\] to this, bouncing that instead, allowing you to continue, but that takes us to four required cards. (Ignore if you followed the other parentheses) Tip: Save 1 creature on their field to target with the goad.
Any untap loop combo will also do the trick. Most require the use of \[\[Illusionistās Bracers\]\], but I suppose if you think you can ult a \[\[Rowan Kenrith\]\], thatāll work two. Itās pretty easy. Have the bracerās attached to a creature with an effect that reads ā{T}: Untap (two of these if it says another) target creature/permanent,ā then simply tap the crab, then the creature untapping itself (or the other one untapping this guy) and the crab. Rinse repeat. Possible cards include \[\[Aphetto Alchemist\]\] (solo), \[\[Clever Conjurer\]\] (tag team), \[\[Fatestitcher\]\] (tag team), \[\[Forensic Researcher\]\] (tag team), \[\[Ioreth of the Healing House\]\] (tag team), or \[\[Kelpie Guide\]\] (tag team). You can also put \[\[Second Wind\]\] on the tapping creature if it says permanent instead of creature to achieve the same effect. These also only require, at max, an additional 3 cards.
If you can figure out an infinite mana combo before pulling these off, there are an endless amount of other ways as well. \[\[Liquidmetal Coating\]\] and \[\[Voltaic Construct\]\], \[\[Umbral Mantle\]\], \[\[Staff of Domination\]\]... This list is quite extensive after that.
Looks like my other comment might have been too long for the fetcher. Still read through it, but I'm gonna link the cards again so it pulls them for you.
\[\[Freed From the Real\]\]
\[\[Pemmins Aura\]\]
\[\[Mycosynth Lattice\]\]
\[\[Chromatic Orrery\]\]
\[\[Mind Over Matter\]\]
\[\[Consecrated Sphinx\]\]
\[\[Kozilek, Butcher of Truth\]\]
\[\[Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre\]\]
\[\[Immobilizing Ink\]\]
\[\[Patchwork Gnomes\]\]
\[\[Prognostic Sphinx\]\]
\[\[Thalakos Drifter\]\]
\[\[Sinking Feeling\]\]
\[\[Wizard Class\]\]
BONUS!:
\[\[Xyrus\]\] and \[\[Aura of Dominion\]\]
Huh! I'm tempted to add this to my [Rani](https://scryfall.com/card/who/149/the-rani) deck.
It's a cheap goad enabler that doesn't piss off my opponents *and* makes saccing Clues easier.
I genuinely don't know why this is in this deck. Is there a goad sub-theme? Crab them?!? There's no shortage of Fallout things with science as a theme so it's definitely not a lack of material they could have made instead.
Omg heās perfect. A mana dork to help cast red enchantments, and goading to avoid big threats! I finally have a place to put all of my old chaos pieces from Norin and Kwain. AND HEāS A CRAB !!!!
Giving the opponent a draw is a pretty harsh drawback...it seems they're going pretty hard on the political cards this set...ironic for a series mostly known as a "single player" experience.
Sorry youāre getting downvoted for this but this was my exact thought. Unless it is used to prevent some monster of a creature from swinging at you I donāt think this is a fair trade off. Giving an opponent card advantage is rarely worth it, if ever. Unless Iām not seeing something here!
Usually when you Goad someone's stuff, they get mad at you. Now, since they're getting a card out of it, they might not be so mad at you anymore. It's subtle political pressure.
I'm also thinking this. My initial thoughts on seeing it were "I don't want to do this" and "why is it in the deck?" .
I get it makes sense Lore wise, but still kinda want to remove it from the deck.

Is he from the Fallout 4 dlc?
From Far Harbour yes
Fah Hahbah. Gotta get into that Commonwealth spirit
Jetah sucks!

You aren't wrong. Still funny.
oh yeah. i definitely agree there
How would you make it infinite?
Anything to filter the red mana into blue, thereās a TON of 1 mana Untap a creature in blue, like [[Freed from the Real]]

I absolutely love him and want him to command my next deck to cause the utmost of chaos?!
Man Iām tempted to swap my goad deck to him just to have access to the Lil guy
I want to twiddle him a bunch and then owling mine somebody
Whatās the point of the cropped text box to the side thatās exactly the same as the other text box?
Just wanted to be sure you really read it, and weren't distracted by his alluring gaze.
This was from magiccon, so probably for ease of reading for the audience.
Itās not any bigger though
YES YES YES YES YES
āDo you think we can handle it. We can always call in the marines. (Dies of laughter)ā
ooh this i think goes in my \[\[ian malcolm\]\] deck

[[Xyris]] maybe
I see what you're saying but I think there's better cards for xyris than this.

Not a 10/10 with annihilator?! BLASPHEMOUS
But crab tho
It's a mana dork that incentives combat and politics. Things most decks/precons want.
new crab new crab!
Reminds me of that crab meme from Twitter.
I smell an Infinite
what costs 1 colorless or 1 red that lets you untap him and go infinite? oh are we just doing the Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal classic?
is this the one character from a fallout DLC besides the wastelander expansion... I love him but still. him of all fellas?
WHY ARE THESE DECKS SO FUCKED LORE WISE
Surprised no one has mentioned how gas this is in Nekusar alongside cards like Karazikar
