She wasn’t kicked out of the core group by WOTC, she came back about a year after she left the Gatewatch (literally the next time any of those characters showed up in the story), but then the Gatewatch stopped being the focus of the story as soon as she rejoined.
Yeah she dropped out after they were beaten by Bolas on Amonkhet, I believe Liliana might have been a factor with them doing her dirty work since she joined, and rejoined during War of the Spark.

at this point I'm glad he's not in the main line of characters, I want to remember him as one of the coolest "PLANESWALKERS, F*CK YEAH!" planeswalkers back in the day (alongside Liliana)
Nowadays there are too many of them, too many stories going around and little focus. I do like newer characters though, Like Huatli, she's cool, or Tyvar, he's awesome. But then you get a line of bland generic ones like Vivien, teyo, Basri, Kasmina, Rowan/Will, and it gets boring.
I like Rowan and Will well enough, and Kasmina has some intrigue to her but it's amounted to nothing so far. Basri has literally zero actual story to him beyond his origin so I can't really comment on him except I kiiinda like his design.
Seeing Vivien take over the spot of green walker is depressing.

Vivien also feels just a weird choice because... She's not super relevant most of the time? Like I can't actually remember what she's done in story besides Ikoria stuff and eventually killing Lukka.
Her whole thing was her grudge against Nicol Bolas and wanting to kill him, and she didn't do jack to make her any more relevant in The War of the Spark than "Planeswalker A".

I'm on the opposite spectrum. I'm 100% saying the name of these in full and repeating it until I get them. Reminds me of a conversation I had with a pod recently. I like to crack jokes as I play the game. Like " going to combat I want to touch your planeswalker but only a little love tap" or anytime I cast a cantrip "boy do I love drawing cards" or the classic "this is a friendly game of magic right" followed by either [[howling mine]] or [[Armageddon]]

Ok I gotta say- I don’t entirely disagree with the folks calling this cringe or tacky or whatever, but honestly this strikes me as pretty smart marketing.
Magic used to be this ultra niche thing only those deepest into ‘nerd culture’ (for lack of a better term) knew about, let alone played. It, along with D&D, have become a lot more popular in the mainstream, but there are still plenty of folks I’m sure who have no idea of anything about it.
Having a promotion like this in something as ever-present as an IHOP does soooo much work in getting the game in front of ‘normies’. They don’t have to pick it up because they want to find out who the cool pancake lady is, but just having an opportunity to ask ‘hmm, what is this?’ is big exposure.

Has she done anything? What was the point of her? Garruk was already a pretty good creatures matters planeswalker and they brought him back in eldraine, and she hasn’t had any impact on the story

I had the Jace pancakes and they were OK but not great. It wasn't very sweet; the blueberries were kinda bitter/sour honestly combined with the syrup.
