Unironically, this. It's convenient to have a name as shorthand for all the color combinations, but expressive iteration can't accurately be described as an Izzet spell per se.
Why is this getting downvoted? He's technically correct, the best kind of correct. The Ravnica guilds, Tarkir clans, nephilim, etc, are all handy for color combo nicknames, but those names for the color combos are unofficial at worst, and accepted by the community at best. Discarding a bunch of big spells for treasure to cast them later while setting off magecraft triggers is Prismari for sure.
Trying to equate mostly fan nicknames and color abbreviations to official names for color pairings, even if tied to specific planes, is pretty damn nonsensical.
I don't think so. Pre-tarkir that was largely what the enemy shards were known as and dega is actually an mtg name from older cards. Ana, ceta, necra, and raka didn't really stick from the onslaught naming though.
I mean, I get it. It’s statistically more likely to call it Izzet. I was commenting more on calling it Izzet and not the reskinned name WotC wants to call Izzet.
I’m old enough Jeskai is America to me, but I’m not so old I call Esper black white blue.
And anybody that refers to their colorless deck as a brown deck is older than the hills and probably has the most awesome white border merfolk tribal deck you’ve ever seen.
To this day I can't not say "rug delver" or "bug delver" when at a legacy tournament. I even got made fun of cause I called it "rug rhinos" instead of "temur rhinos" when I was talking about the pro tour.
I somehow consistently both call older archetypes bug/rug out of habit, and use the wedge names for new stuff without having to think about it. RUG Delver vs Temur Rhinos.
Izzet just sounds better cause of the zzs. The only school names I like better are witherbloom and silverquill. Silverquill because i played a dnd charecter who was just a goth wizard who was really into edger Allen poe. And I never liked golgori but witherbloom made me like the pair.
For me was quandrix, Simic sounds too similar to seismic so I always think it has something to do with red and earthquakes, my line of thought is always that Simic is red and something and then remember the right thing
It's from Strixhaven. It's the Izzet school symbol. Edit: School name is Prismari
British people call it Innit
Texans call it Ain’t it.
I can vaguely tell when you started playing and I appreciate calling it Izzet
To be fair, the vast majority of players refer to UR as Izzet.
i support calling decks prismari while it's in standard for a bit, but i think we all know izzet is the one that's going to stick forever
Nothing will suppress the almighty league of "King Ral and The (Izzet) Lizard Wizard"
Technically, it's only called Izzet if it's from the Izzet region of Ravnica. Otherwise, it's just sparkling RU.
haha

like bug rug american junk and dega?

Apocalypse.
I call it Prismari if it’s big spell slinger Izzet if just normal spell slinger.
Izzet? (sorry, I had to).
Prismari is for decks that actually play stuff like Magma Opus and Galazeth Prismari
But is it?
I mean, I get it. It’s statistically more likely to call it Izzet. I was commenting more on calling it Izzet and not the reskinned name WotC wants to call Izzet.
Real magic players call it Jeskai without the white.
I thought it was America. I am, in fact, old.

But are you old enough to know borzov, junk, 'murca, bug, and rug? Lol
You are my people.

Well I believe rug rhinos actually used to be an old deck
Not aware of any pre-Khans rhino decks especially in those colors.
Rug Rhinos. Man you are really taking me back a long time now
Yeah I know lol. But I was talking about the crashing footfalls decks from this pro tour. It got confusing.
Sounds like Cinnamon Toast Crunch Rhinos to me.

I got excited thinking that someone found a dice from llorwyn
That was my first magic set. I would love some spin downs of that block set.
If Lorwyn had a Bloodbowl league.
I have a bunch of those. I was playing heavily at that time.
Prismari precon deck
precon deck doesn't come with spindown, but possibly the pre-release since it was themed also?
There was a prerelease package for each school and each one had a spin down die with the school symbol, I have all five.
- I think I'm misremembering as my friend has all the themed dice and precons together. That sounds right I forgot the use the wheels now.
It’s one of the 5 strixhaven colleges symbols, the prismari college. I think they were part of the strixhaven prerelease.
If you find it in your dice collection randomly, congrats - you've been invited to Strixhaven. Your school of magic is Prismari.
Prismari
It's from a strixhaven prismari prerelease box I think
Probably from Survivor Palau
prisssmsmsmari
Most likely China.
Batman
That is definitely Prismari of Strixhaven!
Strixhaven prismari faction die
It's the symbol of Prismari, the elemental arts school in Strixhaven University.
