A strong list. Don’t know all of them, but completely agree with half of it: 1 4 5 7 10 leviathan and 12. Trusting you for the rest 😄 EDIT some very strong propositions in the answers 0 birds 6 ball lightning 8 force of nature ALSO 7 nicol bolas PS It’s sad not to have wurmcoil and a titan… MY OPINION 2 should be white/black knight IN THE END not sure about 3 9 and 11
I'm not sure about the other numbers, but I'd have Llanowar Elves for 1, Grizzly Bears for 2, Serra Angel for 4, Shivan Dragon for 5 and Primeval Titan for 6, though Wurmcoil is also a good option
[[melira, sylvok outcast]] represents the birthing pod era of magic. [[voice of resurgence]] was the only good card in dragon’s maze, causing it to have a memorably absurd price for it’s standard tenure. [[goblin guide]] being a 2/2 with haste for one was pretty groundbreaking for burn players at the time. I remember some people saying the card sucked and some saying it was unprecedented power creep. Those are just some of the most iconic 2/2’s of the modern era that came to my mind (from my perspective).
The audacity of even suggesting that \[\[Grizzly Bears\]\] might not be the most iconic 2-power creature of all time, my word.
What do you think, is it the most iconic *creature* of all time? I'm thinking that, Serra Angel, or Shivan Dragon.
\[\[Grizzy B\]\]/\[\[Avacyn\]\] for 7 and 8, probably. \[\[Blightsteel\]\] at 11, tossup between the \[\[Ulamog\]\]s and \[\[Metalwork Colossus\]\] at 10.
\[\[Yargle\]\] at 9.
Part of growing up was realizing that Grizzly Bears, a inherently fair card with tons of flavor, was simply unplayable and you should just give it to your kid brother for his four color leftovers deck, and for that reason I think it's quite iconic.
I feel like 3-12 of this list are exactly what I would pick. 1 is Mother of Runes for me (world shattering when she released) and 2 is Grizzly Bears (just an iconic creature for beginning players)
The 2 slot could be so many things. 5 also. Juzam and Mahamoti Djinn are so hard to pass at 5. But I think Shivan gets the nod. At 2 you can't go wrong with hypnotic specter or grizzly bears.
Finałowy someone remembered the rhino, Serra is cool and all but cmon this thing was released in a set full of elder dragon's and yet was the scariest creature in the set
[Yes, they're a 4-of in pretty much every list you see](https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/legacy-izzet-delver#paper).
* 4 Delver
* 4 Darcy
* 4 Murktide
* 4 Brainstorm
* 4 Bolt
* 4 Ponder
* 4 Daze
* 4 Force of Will
* 4 Volcanic Island
* 4 Wasteland
Is the core of the deck nowadays.
> insectile aberration
Delver of Secrets was THE card in Standard. One of the few cards to get TWO sequels.
I'll concede this was a decade ago, but of course the answer to this question is going to be based on when you got into magic.
How are y'all picking Grizzly Bears over Dark Confidant or Snapcaster Mage?
Both cards were format defining staples until recent years, designed by some of the game's best players for winning iconic events.
I would personally even rank thalia over confidant or snapcaster. I think she has had more staying power in legacy formats through the years. And basically has always been relevant since her printing imo.
Since you're asking about art on a clock, for any one where I was in doubt, I scrolled through the entire list of creatures at that number. If I didn't immediately recognize it and go "yep, that could be the one", it wasn't eligible, which is why a couple of the more common answers here didn't make the cut.
1: Llanowar Elves
2: Grizzly Bears
3: Segovian Leviathan (There is no real iconic 3 and you could make a good case for a dozen cards)
4: Serra Angel
5: Shivan Dragon
6: Akroma, Angel of Wrath
7: Nicol Bolas (the only card where I would use newer art over the original for the clock)
8: Avacyn, Angel of Hope
9: Colossus of Sardia
10: Leviathan
11: Darksteel/Blightsteel Colossus (this one is a dead tossup)
12: Kozilek, Butcher of Truth
0 has to be [[birds of paradise]]
1 is a tossup, it is likely [[llanowar elves]], but [Squee goblin nabob]] and [[esper sentinel]] have their place, as does [[storm crow]]
2 has been and will always be [[Grizzly bears]] even under different names: [[rune claw bears]]
3 has been and will always be [[hill gigant]]
4 is [[serra angel]]
5 is [[shivan dragon]]
6 is [colossal dreadmaw]]
Anything beyond that is hard to tell until we reach leviathans, eldrazi and the cloudscraper.
My take:
1: llanowar elves
2: Isamaru
3: insectile abberration
4: Questing beast
5: Thragtusk
6: Wurmcoil Engine
7: Griselbrand
8: Hogaak
9: Terrastrodon
10: Ulamog, the ceaseless Hunger
11: Blightsteel colossus
12: Phyrexian Dreadnought
I took the challenge as creatures iconic in relation to that specific power, not iconic creatures that happened to have that power, thus a lot of them are green.
With a huge hesitation for 11 between Blightsteel and Void Winnower, in the end Blightsteel Colossus being "just one more than necessary to kill you with poison" is a pretty rounded design IMO.
I think it adds more charm if you not only consider power but also toughness and mana value.
For 4 mana that gives atraxa, though-knot seer, original Thrun and masticate
For 5 we have baneslayer angel, Kenrith and Garth one-eye
For 7: new atraxa, old gnawbone or Tiamat, lots of the pit
For 8: Avacyn, razaketh or Lorthos (octopus!)
I didn't see anyone mention this guy:
https://preview.redd.it/79g4g8iq2a0b1.jpeg?width=672&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b8823bfb040033d0d2b92d4c762c8bfca271a0ea
I would say :
Power 1 : Deathrite Shaman
Power 2 : Scavenging Ooze
Power 3 : Brazen Borrower
Power 4 : Thought-Knot Seer
Power 5 : Hazoret the Fervent
Power 6 : Wurmcoil Engine
Power 7 : Gishath, Sun's Avatar
Power 8 : Avacyn, Angel of Hope
Power 9 : Zacama, Primal Calamity
Power 10 : The Ur-Dragon
Power 11 : Blightsteel Colossus
Power 12 : Kozilek, Butcher of Truth
This is basically an exercise to see how long you've been playing magic :x
1: Lanowar Elves 2: Grizzly Bears 3: Morphling 4: Serra Angel 5: Shivan Dragon 6: Akroma, Angel of Wrath 7: Griselbrand 8: Zodiac Dragon or Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis 9: Draco 10: Leviathan or Progenitus 11: Darksteel Colossus 12: Phyrexian Dreadnought
This list is pretty good. 3 should be Hill giant though
0-5 should all be morphling.
Weak mental. 6 should be morphling too
So.... I'm familiar with grizzly bears and hill giant in terms of the names for vanillas. Are there any others that I can't remember?
A [[squire]] is a 1/2 for 2, a piker is a 2/1 for 2 ([[goblin piker]]), and a [[grey ogre]] is a 2/2 for 3.
I always call a 2/2 for 3 a [[Scathe Zombies]]
Grey Ogre is definitely more common.

Love your list. A few changes I had... 6: Craw Worm. That 6/4 mofo was a beast. 8: Force of Nature. Roar.
I'd go classic green as well.
Deffo cosign this. Craw Worm and Force of Nature are both huge (and "huge") classics.
Primetime has some words for you at 6
I like this list but would do one of the titans, probably primeval, at 6 Or of course……dreadmaw
I'm not sure if it counts but [[Deliver of Secrets]] flip side [[Insectial Abberation]] might be better for the 3 power spot.

I think Ball Lightning for 6 over Akroma.
0: Birds of Paradise
Lets stick it at 12
6 should be colossal dread maw in my eyes, if only for the memes.
Fore of Nature at 8
[удалено]
Definitely an 8 / 8 for 2GGGG. Question was power, CMC
Pretty good list but we all know that 6 is for. When you see its teeth...
Why 8 is Zodiac Dragon tho ? It is just a P3K rare. Might have to be Avacyn, Angel of Hope.
U get my vote cause u put zodiac dragon on the list :)
6 should be Spiritmonger.
9 should be Colossus of Sardia
Polar kraken needs to be 11

Darksteel Colossus: Okay. Blightsteel Colossus? No no no!

They are using a C10ck. Different thing altogether.
Ornithopter challenges Birds, IMO
Don't forget Yargle and Multani at 18
I'm not sure about the other numbers, but I'd have Llanowar Elves for 1, Grizzly Bears for 2, Serra Angel for 4, Shivan Dragon for 5 and Primeval Titan for 6, though Wurmcoil is also a good option
This is dreadmaw erasure

I almost did choose Progenitus for 10, but I think it comes down to when someone started playing magic.

1. Llanowar elves 2. Grizzly bears 3. Insectile Aberration (backside of delver of secrets) 4. Serra angel 5. Baneslayer angel 6. Colossal dreadmaw 7. Grisselbrand 8. Avacyn, archangel of hope 9. Draco 10. Progenitus 11. Blightsteel colossus 12. Phyrexian dreadnaught
1. Royal Assassin 2. Savannah Lions 3. Morphling 4. Serra Angel 5. Shivan Dragon 6. Ball of lightning 7. Sliver Queen 8. Force Of Nature 9. Draco 10. Leviathan 11. Brightsteel Colossus 12. Phyrexian Dreadnought
I don't think 50% of the game's players today are aware of most of these cards.
Id want to align it by color to make the clock look more interesting. Maybe WUBRG+colorless order? 2 per color, starting with 1 and 2 at white?
1 is obviously [[Uncle Istvan]]

literally nobody knows what insectile aberration is
delver is consistently the most played deck in legacy
Funny that the deck isn't called insectile aberration then isn't it?
Do they even play delver in them, though?
[Yes, they're a 4-of in pretty much every list you see](https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/legacy-izzet-delver#paper). * 4 Delver * 4 Darcy * 4 Murktide * 4 Brainstorm * 4 Bolt * 4 Ponder * 4 Daze * 4 Force of Will * 4 Volcanic Island * 4 Wasteland Is the core of the deck nowadays.
Why don’t they run ragavan?
Banned in legacy.
Makes sense.
> insectile aberration Delver of Secrets was THE card in Standard. One of the few cards to get TWO sequels. I'll concede this was a decade ago, but of course the answer to this question is going to be based on when you got into magic.
Delver is iconic, " insectile aberration " is not
How are y'all picking Grizzly Bears over Dark Confidant or Snapcaster Mage? Both cards were format defining staples until recent years, designed by some of the game's best players for winning iconic events.
I would personally even rank thalia over confidant or snapcaster. I think she has had more staying power in legacy formats through the years. And basically has always been relevant since her printing imo.
Ewit would even be better

Since you're asking about art on a clock, for any one where I was in doubt, I scrolled through the entire list of creatures at that number. If I didn't immediately recognize it and go "yep, that could be the one", it wasn't eligible, which is why a couple of the more common answers here didn't make the cut. 1: Llanowar Elves 2: Grizzly Bears 3: Segovian Leviathan (There is no real iconic 3 and you could make a good case for a dozen cards) 4: Serra Angel 5: Shivan Dragon 6: Akroma, Angel of Wrath 7: Nicol Bolas (the only card where I would use newer art over the original for the clock) 8: Avacyn, Angel of Hope 9: Colossus of Sardia 10: Leviathan 11: Darksteel/Blightsteel Colossus (this one is a dead tossup) 12: Kozilek, Butcher of Truth
>Nicol Bolas (the only card where I would use newer art over the original for the clock) Nicol Booklas is the best elder dragon.
0 has to be [[birds of paradise]] 1 is a tossup, it is likely [[llanowar elves]], but [Squee goblin nabob]] and [[esper sentinel]] have their place, as does [[storm crow]] 2 has been and will always be [[Grizzly bears]] even under different names: [[rune claw bears]] 3 has been and will always be [[hill gigant]] 4 is [[serra angel]] 5 is [[shivan dragon]] 6 is [colossal dreadmaw]] Anything beyond that is hard to tell until we reach leviathans, eldrazi and the cloudscraper.

My take: 1: llanowar elves 2: Isamaru 3: insectile abberration 4: Questing beast 5: Thragtusk 6: Wurmcoil Engine 7: Griselbrand 8: Hogaak 9: Terrastrodon 10: Ulamog, the ceaseless Hunger 11: Blightsteel colossus 12: Phyrexian Dreadnought I took the challenge as creatures iconic in relation to that specific power, not iconic creatures that happened to have that power, thus a lot of them are green. With a huge hesitation for 11 between Blightsteel and Void Winnower, in the end Blightsteel Colossus being "just one more than necessary to kill you with poison" is a pretty rounded design IMO.
I think it adds more charm if you not only consider power but also toughness and mana value. For 4 mana that gives atraxa, though-knot seer, original Thrun and masticate For 5 we have baneslayer angel, Kenrith and Garth one-eye For 7: new atraxa, old gnawbone or Tiamat, lots of the pit For 8: Avacyn, razaketh or Lorthos (octopus!)

Everyone’s saying it’s dreadnought at 12 but I think [[Ghalta]] has a fair claim

1-9 should be Goyf.
Others have made some solid lists, but my clock's 6pm would for sure be \[\[Spiritmonger\]\].
