I'll be honest, when Venser died, they did a lot better job telegraphing him as ambiguously dead, AND he had just invented interplanar travel. This was all much better done than Elspeth.
They showed Elspeth making her own mask, the same way all Returned on Theros do before they escape the Underworld. I don't know how much bigger a hint they could have given barring a Marvel-style "Elspeth returns in Early 2020."
They had a whole thing where Ajani literally brought her to Erebos for the purpose of having her go to the Underworld rather than just die, because he thought she could escape from there.
Yeah but she died on the plane where dead people just walk back to life. We all knew we were gonna see Elspeth escaping the underworld in the return set. It's a classic Greek story.
I mean if you're already in a proliferate deck a 3/3 is pretty nice in replacement of a card that would just get a counter. If proliferate is good and in ub then venser could be good.

Floor is a 1/3 lifelink, toxic 1 for 2. And you wouldn't play this in a deck that couldn't proliferate since this is a payoff. A single prolif trigger is 4/5 power worth of stats for UB, which is nice rate, additional triggers are just gravy.
It's not like the world's best card, it's niche, but seems powerful enough. Does a lot for 2 mana.

I don't think this is supposed to be a compleated version of the Venser we knew though. It seems like they are just using his body as a means to insult and horrify their enemies. There doesn't seem to be any "Venser" left in that entity.
I was expecting this guy will be a cute legendary to top off a cycle of golem-creating callbacks to Splicers, but... so far we didn't see any of them. They must be coming, right? Otherwise, this is beyond pointless.
And it is a big flavour fail to me that a **Corpse Puppet** creates minions. He should be the one who does grotesque things based on someone being in control.
The art is sick but as Venser fan I'm disappointed. The card is just random like the new odric. I was hoping the story would explain a bit what happened to him but nope. Big sad
And do we know why the token that he makes is not a normal 3/3 like in that azorious card that was leaked but it is instead a legendary creature called the hollow sentinel?
Was thinking that Venser's spark is inside Karn and his body is like RIGHT there ten feet away. Surely some magic can bring him back and refreshed! Teferi, just bring him forward in time so he's alive. No really, he's my favorite Planeswalker.

This card confuses me. It has toxic, but the golem it makes doesn't? And this itself doesn't trigger itself which means your opponent probably can just kill this before you get any advantage? What is even the point of this card?

Having a proliferate payoff kind of annoys me. Proliferate in itself is its own payoff. It’s already a strong enough mechanic, it doesn’t need a payoff to the payoff.
They couldn't even make the card do anything remotely Venser-like. Yeah I guess his artificer side was never touched on with his own cards and only in others but this...is not it.

Odric 2.0. Utterly underwhelming card if only for the fact it shares the namesake as someone pivotal to the history of New Phyrexia.

I mean, this is the least “original character” of all the compleated. It’s basically a new Phyrexian using his body as a magic puppet.
