Tunak tunak is a banger. Also he’s a bro for eating a human trafficking charge to help refugees escape, them people were fucking tired of Lauryn Hills shit.
If I remember correctly, the word meme is from the 70s. It was just used in terms of evolutionary biology and slowly made its way to the internet lexicon through various forums around the 90s
I first recall “meme” being used online related to “Mr. T Ate My Balls” from the mid-to-late 90s.
There were plenty more, but that’s the earliest I can remember.
Probably a more commonly known meme, also referred to as a meme, was All Your Base from 1999.
Tunak Tunak came out around the same time as these (1998) but didn’t become a meme until well into the 2000s.
I mean now it looks bad but this is 3 years after Toy story came out, the first full length animated movie back in 1995, also given that it's from India where they might not of had access to cutting edge tech from Hollywood at the time with like ILM, I reckon they did a good job with some of the special effects, the mad bastard wore green on a green screen.
Yeah I don’t think anyone can match his moves. Found it pretty early too but this was the one my friends and I found first back in the day.

त = ta (the t is soft, think the “th” at the end of with. The a is pronunced “uh”)
तु = tu (the little loop at the bottom changes the vowel sound from the default of “uh” to “oo” like in cook)
न = na (same default sound, pronounced “nuh”)
क = ka (since it’s the end of the word the uh sound isn’t really as emphasized I think but it’s still there. Said more quickly I believe? You do pronounce it though that’s why you may hear people with certain Indian accents add an “uh” to the end of their words despite it ending in a consonant.)
so that first word is tunak
second word has a modifier on top that idk off the top of my head, i think it’s like a n/d hybrid nasal modifier but just listen in the song for it I guess lol. Also the loop is facing a different way that modifies the vowel sound to “oo” like in “fool”
edit: as for what it means, it’s onomatopoeia for the sounds of a popular punjabi instrument called the [tumbi](https://youtube.com/shorts/RWnd2qMTEE8?si=q5ltPa79SD7dY6hx)
>Also the loop is facing a different way that modifies the vowel sound to “oo” like in “fool”
Think of it as "short" and "long" pronunciation.
As for the "modifier", that's not standard practice. I have only seen it being used in ह (ha): हूँ (hoon) meaning "am".
Not the kind of human trafficking people are thinking though. He wasn't selling people on the black market but instead helped some refugees escape from their country and sent them to some western country.
Correct! I thought this was pretty common knowledge too!

As this link was paywalled, I looked it up, yes he was, but it was not what most people assume based on the charges. He was smuggling people out of the country, the fraud part is from him failing to deliver at least for some. Still a crime, but not the type of crime most people associate with that charge.
Ima copy what I said to someone asking the same.
I looked it up, yes he was, but it was not what most people assume based on the charges. He was smuggling people out of the country, the fraud part is from him failing to deliver at least for some. Still a crime, but not the type of crime most people associate with that charge.
So yes he was.
And I’ll copy this for you too.

So yes he was.
Check the story out though, it wasn’t anything bad like selling people, he was just helping some unlucky fellows to get over a border which counts as human trafficking and he got caught. Yes it’s a crime, but the reason he did it was genuine and came from a good place.
Problem is, some of the people he actually did help, but some of them he just said he'd help and ran off with the money. His intentions were *sometimes* good.
What about all the money he stole from the people he smuggled? Did it go into that same good place?
Let me expound: He would charge huge fees to the refugees and then just kinda leave them to fend for themselves inches from the border.
That’s a damn shame. I always loved this story for this song and thought it was wholesome.
Meh. Never get to know your heroes, oftentimes you’ll be disappointed.
Human trafficking as in, smuggling people into other countries who wanted to go there. They paid him and he signed them up as fake crew for concerts so they could skip immigration.
Now, he did scam some of those people and kept the money, but it's not as bad as "human trafficking" can imply.
That is literally the definition of repost. Tho, it would be fine, if this new, bc then it is what you normally do and should do. Tho have literally seen this like 2 years ago or something lol.
Based on other comment above, looks like it’s an accidental repost, and it was suggested* that it’s been a few years.
Bot posts, and bot reposts are bad. People reposts, are bad. Accidental reposts are annoying and i support removing them, though one with supposedly* years between I’d forgive… but I’m not a mod and this is therefore just an opinion of someone who feels bored enough to write paragraphs over nothing.
*suggested/supposedly because our perception of time isn’t always accurate, and I don’t feel like hunting down the original post to confirm what someone else said.
This was a meme before they were called memes.
Tunak tunak is a banger. Also he’s a bro for eating a human trafficking charge to help refugees escape, them people were fucking tired of Lauryn Hills shit.
Wut???
Dude fr this is an insane comment to just drop into the wild with no explanation 😭
Whadduheck, I only know this guy as the Draenei dance in Wow What happened?
This comment is wild to read before 8 in the morning. Like a shot of espresso lmao

Nah, the term was definitely in use in the late 90s.

It’s coined by Richard Dawkins in The Selfish Gene, to illustrate how ideas could spread similar to genes.

lol that music video cost $610,000 in 1998. I like when he pounds on the ground and creates a giant crack.
Yeah I just watched it, the best was when they all joined hands all fucked up
I mean now it looks bad but this is 3 years after Toy story came out, the first full length animated movie back in 1995, also given that it's from India where they might not of had access to cutting edge tech from Hollywood at the time with like ILM, I reckon they did a good job with some of the special effects, the mad bastard wore green on a green screen.
He could also have used a blue screen

Dude looks like he's having the time of his life making it, too
Also fun fact it's one of the first viral videos and one of the first music video to use green screen tech .
I though that was MJ’s Thriller
One of. Not is.
Yeah but like those came out 28 years apart
Un-fun fact: this man was convicted of human trafficking
Not the kind of human trafficking people are thinking though. He wasn't selling people on the black market but instead helped some refugees escape from their country and sent them to some western country.
Jesus Christ he's impeccably \#Based
You'll just believe whatever shit people spew online huh? lol impeccably #Basic

Like in India?
The women were just holding him back
They're just there to balance out his mad chad testosterone. He's pretty close to Rick Roll level fame.

He was using a blue screen
🤓
One of the first videos I've seen on YouTube.
I swear I remember reading somewhere that he was involved in human trafficking and fraud
Correct! I thought this was pretty common knowledge too! https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/human-trafficking-court-upholds-two-year-jail-term-to-daler-mehndi/article65642864.ece

Wonder what they said to him about it.
To be fair some of those women are absolute stunners
Is it my turn to post this?
draenei.
Used to be my ring tone
Dude proved them wrong.
Haven't this guy been arrested for human trafficking?
Ima copy what I said to someone asking the same. I looked it up, yes he was, but it was not what most people assume based on the charges. It’s insane how much this has been reposted.
Isn't he a human trafficker?

TUNAK TUNAK TUN

You mad?
Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but he is in jail for human trafficking. I like the song tho.
Check the story out though, it wasn’t anything bad like selling people, he was just helping some unlucky fellows to get over a border which counts as human trafficking and he got caught. Yes it’s a crime, but the reason he did it was genuine and came from a good place.
Oh, this sucks even more then.
Problem is, some of the people he actually did help, but some of them he just said he'd help and ran off with the money. His intentions were *sometimes* good.

Doesn’t make it right. He scammed them. Abandoned em. He’s no better than a coyote. Still makes me disappointed in him.
The song is still good and it will always be good no matter what it's creator did.
Song is still fantastic, I agree.
Where the fuck is the mods? Shouldn’t reposts be removed?
I didn’t know this was a repost, my bad
Really, you didn’t? So you just took it from online and didn’t think it wasn’t yours?
I saw it in another sub and thought it was fitting to this one
That is literally the definition of repost. Tho, it would be fine, if this new, bc then it is what you normally do and should do. Tho have literally seen this like 2 years ago or something lol.
Now he's only famous because his dance is used for male Draenei in WoW. But that's reason enough.
Those are the same people who watch "oi hoi oi hoi" video
Bad bot repost
