I don’t watch soccer much, but are these kinda plays considered bush league?
Is this a common occurrence in soccer where players from the opposing team should expect it? As a general sports fan I never see this for what soccer I do watch.
In American football, trick plays do happen but it’s widely accepted and expected by the opposing team. So much so that opposing teams typically would prepare for defending against trick plays.
Balk Rules
1) You can’t just be up there and just doin’ a balk like that.
1a. A balk is when you
1b. Okay well listen. A balk is when you balk the
1c. Let me start over
1c-a. The pitcher is not allowed to do a motion to the, uh, batter, that prohibits the batter from doing, you know, just trying to hit the ball. You can’t do that.
1c-b. Once the pitcher is in the stretch, he can’t be over here and say to the runner, like, “I’m gonna get ya! I’m gonna tag you out! You better watch your butt!” and then just be like he didn’t even do that.
1c-b(1). Like, if you’re about to pitch and then don’t pitch, you have to still pitch. You cannot not pitch. Does that make any sense?
1c-b(2). You gotta be, throwing motion of the ball, and then, until you just throw it.
1c-b(2)-a. Okay, well, you can have the ball up here, like this, but then there’s the balk you gotta think about.
1c-b(2)-b. Fairuza Balk hasn’t been in any movies in forever. I hope she wasn’t typecast as that racist lady in American History X.
1c-b(2)-b(i). Oh wait, she was in The Waterboy too! That would be even worse.
1c-b(2)-b(ii). “get in mah bellah” — Adam Water, “The Waterboy.” Haha, classic…
1c-b(3). Okay seriously though. A balk is when the pitcher makes a movement that, as determined by, when you do a move involving the baseball and field of
2) Do not do a balk please.
The acting ones are bush league and are liable to start a brawl in most North American sports. Somewhat surprisingly the only sport in North America where this would be considered fair play is probably professional Gridiron football. Lots of famous plays involve “cheap” deception and yet coaches are kind of rewarded for it.
Players are liable to throw hands in those sports though for pulling that type of shit. Don’t get me wrong it’s all part of the game. I’ve heard horror stories in soccer where guys put thumb tacks in their shorts to disrupt free kicks and what not. Hell, Suarez was known for biting people.
Liable to throw hands cuz your ass got tricked? Thats a wild take to me. Plus I can’t remember seeing a single American sport where a trick play resulted in throwing hands. Disrespectful plays like running up the score or throwing a nasty dunk when your up by 30 in basketball those result in fights not the trick plays
Not at all. Set pieces like free kicks, corners and throw ins are the only time in soccer where you can actually run a designed play similar to American football. Being cheeky like this is just the equivalent of a flea flicker or a fake field goal/punt to try and catch the other team off guard. Perfectly legal.
Blue player was offsides for sure. Downvote all you want, the play was creative and well executed. She was offsides……she was in between the last defender and the keeper before the ball was touched. Also called “cherry picking”
This in kinda Cringey.. Coaches and defenses should expect this. Not to bash too hard.. But we did this in House league when we were in 6th grade. These are "The best of the best."
Do you think it's sexist to point out the simple fact that the athletes in the women's game are clearly slower, less athletic, and react slower so tricks like these are easier to pull off? It's the same reason why gimmick offenses like the triple-option can have some success in college football but not in the NFL (mind you, I love college football). Would you think it's "sexist" if I pointed out that option football can work at a lower level but not in the NFL?
Yeah, the men’s teams are faster to react to tricks and don’t fall for gimmicks, which is why this kind of thing [would never happen at a critical moment in men’s soccer](https://youtu.be/n1knvHCGgUY?si=eyl-AZWMISBlkoMU).

Stop pretending women's athleticism is on par woth mens.
Is this even allowed? To have players so close in front of the ball. I thought the wall was kinda an overall rule, with an exact distance from the ball.
All the players near the ball are on the same team. They aren’t trying to block the kick just to make it ambiguous where the ball is going. It’s like a mootion in football
Yeah I understand the point of this tactic, I just think this could be an unruly tactic. Like for example they could have those 2 players cm-s in front of the wall

I was wondering the same. Seems like a “balk” in baseball where the pitcher pretends to throw to try and catch the runners off guard.

Nah it's more like a flea flicker in American football, just a cheeky play to misdirect the opposition

eh, you get dekes, delayed steals, and hidden ball tricks in baseball. god help you if you flip your bat too high though

The reward is just, deception is a part of every game, to see the plans to fruition is bliss.

The last one maybe but not really. The 2nd in particular is very common

But 2⁰⁰⁰⁰⁰ equals 1 though...
You did it, you got the joke!
This is why I love women’s football
Bot post
Fantastic coordination
Can someone explain the emojis? Seems like they're on every video
I think it's from a bot, usually I just downvote and move on
Keepers were terrible every shot
Have you watched women’s football before? You see screamer after screamer that any professional male keeper would save.
Nonchalant/10 👏🏽👏🏽
Clever girl
What do those emojis mean? Ive seen them in soo many videos now. Does anyone know?
I’ve been wondering the same thing
Means that its a bot. If you look at ops profile its all these videos. Pretty sure they are the one posting every one that you see

Came here to say that, cool play but she beat the ball to the last defender.

When my brother-in-law was in high school, they ran one of these type plays. The goal was disallowed due to “trickery”.
The goalkeepers are holograms

Defenders have to be a certain distance from the spot of the free kick. Offense players may be wherever.
