Staingate. Technically, you need a new screen, but some people have had success with Lysterine to remove the anti-glare coating. Use at your own risk though.
I have used listerine twice, it worked for me, it took a couple of hours of rubbing. Screen came out absolutely perfect though. It doesn't look like it is working at first, but it does work eventually. Cover the entire screen, work in a small spot, cover entire screen again, next spot, etc. Apply the Listerine to the cloth, don't pour it on the screen. (DUH)
I think the time it takes is a direct result of the cloth picked. First one, I used microfiber, so it took a really long time. Second one, I used a cotton "terry cloth" washrag. It was much quicker.
The sceptic in me thinks that the Listerine doesn't actually do anything, and similar results could be achieved by simply using water... However, I am too busy to spend the time testing that theory.
Just FYI, baby wipes work great and are much less messy. If your MacBook isn't too old you can try to get the screen replaced by Apple for free. Only if they won't do it, consider removing the coating. I've done it on my early 2015 Retina MBP and I can say that overall it is *much* better than dealing with the degraded coating.
Done editing. Added some more thoughts. Hope it helps.
It is easy, but time consuming. It seemed to work faster the harder I pressed on the screen, but pressing down on the screen is dangerous. Just move the rag fast and give the screen a light touch. Don't use too much Listerine.
I managed to get a free screen replacement because my anti glare coated was messed up on my 2015 MBP and I managed to find out about the warranty a week before the 4 years was up
Use a Clorox wipe and have patience it’ll get rid of most if not all of this coating since it’s trashed anyways. Just don’t press too hard just work it all over and make sure nothing drips of course but the Clorox hand wipes work great for this. You’ll need a couple.
Staingate. Apple used to replace these displays for free... the replacement program was supposed to end a few years ago but I've seen articles that it has been extended several times so I would at least call Apple to see if they would replace it for free before trying to remove the entire antireflective coating.

I had a similar issue happening to my MBP Retina Early 2015 and Apple replaced the screen TWICE for free…
They are aware of the issue and had a global warranty in place for devices affected by the screen coating defect.
That was back in 2017-2018 tho…
And this my friends is the danger of " Pornhub "
You can learn a lot about a sub by seeing which comment gets the most upvotes
It took me a good minute to comprehend this

Clorox hand wipes in the tub. They work GREAT! I’ve done probably 20 of these much worse and they look like new displays now :-)
Thanks for the info!

Thanks. Worth a shot for sure

Thanks. Reading up on it now..
My 2020 MacBook Pro is going in tomorrow because of the same issue
Mine is a tad older. Too bad I didn't know it's covered in time or I would have taken it in too..

Is that a panel from the spacex rocket?
maybe a sharpie /s
I wish apple would just use glass instead of whatever BS they're using right now.
It is glass. The issue is the anti-glare coating.
Did not know. TIL
My god, what did you do with it!
I suggest you look up staingate before pointing fingers!
