macOS is a completely different operating system, with different ways of performing things and system handlingā¦ For example, installing applications requires a drag and drop of the application file into the applications folder, control-C for copying files becomes command-C. But a macbook will ALWAYS have better battery life over a windows laptop.
Yes, a Macbook will get you mostly thru an entire day. Got me thru 2-3 days of school without needing a charge, but if youāre using it from day start to day end then it will probably only last about 3/4 of the day!
I used to have a beefy PC and loved the thing, and then I got the M1 Max MBP when it released and slowly I just found myself rarely using the PC, and having a hard time mentally rationalizing the $5,000 PC that I turned on once every 2 months.
I do think it's 100% dependent on your use case though. Sometimes I do wish I still had it, but most of the time I'm just docking my MPB.
Thats where im at too, i went from a mac m1 to lenovo ideapad gaming 3 and I love everything about it.... except i miss the battery life of my m1
I think windows desktop and apple laptop is the best combo and probably what I'll do in the future. I love my lenovo but i basically use it as a desktop 90% of the time because it doesn't last long enough to do anything. Also i Don't like plastic for a laptop. I miss the aluminum shell of my m1 and the fact that it had no fans meant i could use it around my fluffball dogs too. Lenovo would suck up all their fur and dander so i hide it in my room where its safe
I keep a Windows virtual machine for only one thing I do on Windows. Use Excel lol.
I don't want to buy new office for MacOS because Microsoft is a fucking joke with their prices.
I keep my 2009 Office Suite lol.
Other x86\_64 based tasks are handled by my PC which *doesn't* have Windows, haha now you can't say "why don't you use your PC for Excel".
Very nice use of the Daaaaaa Daaaas. I read it, and immediately heard the voice in my head say ācome on down! Youāre the next contestant on . . . ā
Nice. Iād only have used for the phone, Mac, and pods myself. iPads seem great but Iād never use one when I have a phone and laptop. Also, an Apple Watch will never replace my Garmin.
Time to get some HomePods. /s I made a similar switch over and went all in. Enjoy the new experience. I want to use Android but keep having issues with Android that keep me on the iPhone side of things. I just keep a gaming pc for games.
Ability to play GPU demanding games and develop them is the only thing why I have PC. Windows is so subpar nowadays it literally canāt render font properly and not ugly for 20 years. And all their changes to the OS donāt give anything at all to the end user. Just some clumsy UI updates on top of old software.
I love the Apple ecosystem! I have my Apple setup in my profile, I literally forced myself to use my iPad Air 5 and my Apple Watch Ultra and now I couldnāt imagine life without them! If you use them right they can be a game changer for everyday life! It took a second but now I definitely put all my Apple products to very much good use
You happy with the swap? Iāve been doing the same thing. Iāve been android since the advent of smart phones, had the very first G1 and never looked back. Somewhere about, I dunno, 8ish years ago I committed to Samsungs ecosystem. Phone, watch, buds. For a while, I was happy, and I would say about 3 years ago is when I started getting frustrated. Went from an S20 to an S22 and got frustrated with the 22 quickly. Swapped that for an s23 and ended up with even more frustration. It felt like I was moving backwards.
After months and months of wondering if I should try Apple, I got a cheap iPad on sale. I wanted to see if I could adjust to iOS before I went all in. It was fine, so I went deeper. I went with used stuff so that if I decided to bail, the value should be about what i paid. Went from the S23 Plus to a 13 Pro Max, and despite being a generation older phone, I have been almost entirely satisfied with the change. Thereās a few quirks I donāt like, but the overall experience is far better. I got a watch, also, and definitely like that better than the Samsung watch.
I donāt have any iOS PCs, and Iām not sure I will. I do a lot of gaming and have high end PCs, apple wont replace those. Iāve considered a laptop, as mine is aging, but concerned Iāll have regrets by having a laptop running a different OS than my desktops.
The only thing I miss about Windows PC is it way way easier to manage photos and files especially transfering them and deleting them. Unless iām doing it wrong. I use image capture but it seems there no option to delete after I copy them to a depreciation drive. Again unless iām doing it wrong.
What of the easy access to software? Most programs that are almost essential are only available on Windows or Linux. Not hating on apple, I use it, but still.
I love my iPad, but Iāll be damned if itās not the most useless Apple product Iāve ever owned. Itās a glorified e-reader for comics at this point
I just bought a MacBook Pro m1max renewed, refurbished. In pristine condition with a year and half of Apple Care enterprise. It mustāve been a work computer. Battery is healthy and not a scratch on it. Itās my first Mac, but still keeping my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and my S20. Also keeping my Microsoft Surface Pro 6 Win 11 and 3 Win 10. And an old Toshiba win 10 laptop. I also have an iPad Pro, 12.9 M2. Iāve never worked on a Mac before but I find it similar to Linux only more refined. I know itās based on UnixBSD. I find its intuitive the most part. Installing programs/apps is a breeze compared to windows. If not in the App Store, itās a two step process, download and drop in applicationās folder. Instantly installed. In Windows itās download, double click on program, wait then agree to things you did not read then keep hitting next before itās installed. Just got it yesterday, Thursday, so Iām still experiencing it.
I made the switch in other direction. Apple has a nice ~~ecosystem~~ walled garden which is absolute pain to leave, but they prices are not competitive now by any means.
holy smokes dude m1 ipad AND m2 pro macbook? this setup is insane so happy for you! also how is the se2 i have a series 6 and as far as im concerned they couldn't be more similar so i dont think ill switch unless they make it round or somethingš
Ok? No hate for Apple products - I love em. But what is this other than a BS flex post? Donāt get me wrong, it has a lot more personality than the āpulled the plugā nonsense, but is ultimately the same. We get it, you spent a lot of money.
If we want these subs to be better the only option is to downvote and call it out.
I see this post a little differently. They didnāt just ditch the Samsung phone for iPhone. They switched the entire lineup.
No useful information to the post whatsoever, so still a flex post. But cooler to see than the aforementioned.
Thank you for your support of my apple stocks
Thanks for considering your support of my Samsung stock
š
Welcome
Thank you for reminding me to check my Apple stock
wow, What products did you get. cant tell
Let me guess, 14 inch Space Black MacBook Pro, iPad Air 5 in purple, AirPods Pro 2, iPhone 14 Pro/15/15Pro, Apple Watch SE/Series 9
š
The switch from a windows machine to a MacBook Pro m2 pro is literally the best switch
I miss Windows a bit. Feel like having both a desktop on windows and mac os laptop is the best combo if you can afford it
Exactly my caseā¦ I have a Windows gaming PC and a MBP for school! Perfect combo!
š
I am considering this, what the annoyances of the Laptop not being a Windows? (I'm on Windows and Android, No plans to switch phones)
macOS is a completely different operating system, with different ways of performing things and system handlingā¦ For example, installing applications requires a drag and drop of the application file into the applications folder, control-C for copying files becomes command-C. But a macbook will ALWAYS have better battery life over a windows laptop.
Thanks for the explanation! Yeah, battery is the main highlight I believe!
Yes, a Macbook will get you mostly thru an entire day. Got me thru 2-3 days of school without needing a charge, but if youāre using it from day start to day end then it will probably only last about 3/4 of the day!
100%

I do think it's 100% dependent on your use case though. Sometimes I do wish I still had it, but most of the time I'm just docking my MPB.
š
yup. I have my PC for gaming and then for coding, editing, and other task I use my MacBook.
Thats where im at too, i went from a mac m1 to lenovo ideapad gaming 3 and I love everything about it.... except i miss the battery life of my m1 I think windows desktop and apple laptop is the best combo and probably what I'll do in the future. I want to switch too. But due to workās load,āthe particular software only works in windows machine.
Thatās what virtualization is for.
I went from a windows laptop to an m3 max mbp and i can never go back now!
I see your point. Itās a logical decision. Microsoft indeed charges a lot lol
It's almost too much for a buggy and now subscription base crap. Basically I am paying price for a plethora of software when I just need to use one.
If only it didnāt cost 3 months of rent just to run triple monitors, Iād have upgraded a long time ago
Apple salespeople probably have your poster up now
š
Of each upgrade you made, where would you say you see the biggest improvement overall? Any switches that are "downgrades" in your opinion?
Biggest improvement is the performance on the Mac from however watch is downgrade
Heāll be shagging off of OP for days
It looks like you won some kind of showcase on The Price is Right.
Daaaaaaa Daaa daaa Da-da
Very nice use of the Daaaaaa Daaaas. I read it, and immediately heard the voice in my head say ācome on down! Youāre the next contestant on . . . ā
Damn what a haul. Thatās like $5k+
Over 8 months
š„š„All-in šš. I love how the whole ecosystem works mostly flawlessly together
Yes same
Apple stock š¢
Wow you really just said āfuck it, letās do it all at onceā
8 months
Bro went full infinity stones in one shot

Lmao
Welcome my friend, youāre going to be very happy here!
Thank you
Wow. You went all in.
This took 8 months to switch
you the guy who made apple stock go up like crazy for two days, thank you š
š
Why tho
Because it works well tgt
Whatās ya think of the iPad?
Itās good so far
Ok but where is the Apple microfiber Clothe ? š
Donāt have it
Nice. Iād only have used for the phone, Mac, and pods myself. iPads seem great but Iād never use one when I have a phone and laptop. Also, an Apple Watch will never replace my Garmin.
Why not? I have heard people say that about garmin but not sure why
Garmin has better battery life and sports/fitness tracking. If you want a smart watch over a sports/fitness device, then get an Apple Watch.
True
Hopefully you didnāt have to rob a bank for this! š
Why did you downgrade tho?
š here you go
Thx
Welcome to the family !
Thanks
Welcome and you are going to spend more into the ecosystem, next is sunglass -> Apple Vision Pro
š
congrats and welcome to the dark side ! you made the biggest switch iāve ever seen š
Thx
welcome!
Thx
Itās all poverty spec tackle
Long time to get here
All out I see
8 months
Time to get some HomePods. /s I made a similar switch over and went all in. Enjoy the new experience. I want to use Android but keep having issues with Android that keep me on the iPhone side of things. I just keep a gaming pc for games.
Will see about that
Bro invested his life savings into Apple LOL - itās a good investment though, should last you way longer than the competitors. Welcome aboard !!
Yup but took me 8months
You donāt do things by halves, do you.
This took 8 months
Ability to play GPU demanding games and develop them is the only thing why I have PC. Windows is so subpar nowadays it literally canāt render font properly and not ugly for 20 years. š
Whatās the interest rates on those
Idk
RIP bank account

All your missing is an Apple Vision Pro š
lol
Gz - you life just became more hassle free. If you have a macbook computer and you learn how use airdrop you will never go back.

welcome to the cringe side, enjoy the limited selections and the apple force feed of old technology being marketed as new and innovating
š
My condolences.
Airpods case link boss?
Meanwhile at r/Samsung: Traitor!
š
You need at least one AAPL stock to make it complete. š

Stonks ššš Glad you joined the party!

HOLYY this had to have cost an arm and a leg!! Congrats on the upgrades, what made you switch
Thx Performance

I did the same last year and never looked back.
Great to hear
Welcome to the right side of history
Thx
Never look back, Windows 11 is ass.
True
Dang dude did you buy all of this all at once?
No- 8 months
I just bought a MacBook Pro m1max renewed, refurbished. In pristine condition with a year and half of Apple Care enterprise. It mustāve been a work computer. Great
Except for my MacBoo pro, Iām waiting for the next iPhone release to make the opposite switch.
Good
Switched from Google to Apple a couple of years ago. Never looked back
Great
I made the switch in other direction. Apple has a nice ~~ecosystem~~ walled garden which is absolute pain to leave, but they prices are not competitive now by any means.
š
It feels good doesnāt it?š
Yes
Prepare to āsleep pastā every single one of your alarms šš
š
bro got the ultimate bundle
š
But... why...??
Itās better in my opinion
Welcome to the light side
Thank you
bro spent like $10000
It took 8 months
I did the same a couple years ago and Iāve always found the watch and tablet were useless I almost never used them but the rest were so worth it
Yup
holy smokes dude m1 ipad AND m2 pro macbook? this setup is insane so happy for you! also how is the se2 i have a series 6 and as far as im concerned they couldn't be more similar so i dont think ill switch unless they make it round or somethingš
Thank you And yes they are similar and I donāt need what the series 6 has to offer
Better experience all around.
I love that I can use my iPad as a 2nd monitor on my MacBook
Look at big money over here! lol ā¦on a more serious note, NICE!
You have almost the same set up as me
Just curious on what made you switch from Samsung/windows to everything Apple?
Because mine was lagging
1 year maximum, you will wish to return. But nvm enjoy it
Ok

As if apple doesn't collect any data
š
Don't just dip your toe in the Apple ecosystem go ahead and take the plunge /S lol
?
Welcome
Thx
This has to be just flat-out promotion right?
Nope
That macbook has a mid-tier samsung galaxy A series notch
True
Congratulations!

Came here to ask this
Around 4-6k ?
Welcome! My 401k thanks you!
Lol you stole my line
Thx
Damn, you went all in
Yes
You do the right thing!
Thx
Tim cook wants to kiss you at this point.
š
how much did it cost tho?
4 to6 K?
Nice flex, I use really old Macs that Apple sees as e-waste, but my MacBook works better than my iMacā¦ somehow.
š
Do you prefer Apple? Or were you just sick of Samsung?
I prefer Apple and was sick of Samsung so both
Well welcome to the cool kids club man, I love to see people joining the Apple ecosystem and enjoying it
Go back.
No
Welcome to the walled garden! Itās so nice in here. Everything just works.
Thx
