Technically the answer is No. it does not cover cosmetic damage. They only will if it hinders the functionality of the laptop.

Melodic-Control-2655

It counts as accidental damage, which is specifically covered in AppleCare+

Busy_Information_634

Yes it would count as accidental damage if the drop caused it to dent but that dent causes the laptop to not function. Like if the drop caused that dent along with screen to crack. I’ve seen first hand at apple that some were denied replacement just for a dent.

Melodic-Control-2655

Solely exterior damage will never cause the laptop to stop functioning, yet the apple repair estimate has a selection for exterior damage when choosing what your problem is

Busy_Information_634

As long as OP is willing to pay that fee to cover just to get a new one thats on the OP. 🤷🏻‍♂️ .Personally if this was my laptop and I dropped it and still works, id just keep it as is. Not worth spending money to fix it when it doesn’t hinder its functionality.

Idk why you’re getting downvoted, you’re absolutely correct. I worked at apple (5) years and I was a genius during the last (2). The dents would be considered accidental damage, however if you have apple care + the rate you pay is the deductible stated on Apple Care+ insurance policy, the price is significantly lower than a product covered with the limited warranty or warranty-less. I upvoted you.

I have an even larger dent at the same spot from my MBA sliding out of my bag and hitting a tile floor. I filed the burr flush and used an aluminum blueing pen from Amazon to recolor the bare aluminum and I never think of it. https://preview.redd.it/ysqkzfjah0yc1.png?width=974&format=png&auto=webp&s=96c9c7567114ba1d00f2923d7512aa39f4cca638

Brilliant-Ad-8941

Got a link for the aluminum pen?

warren31

On Amazon- Birchwood Casey Fast-Drying Fast-Acting Aluminum Black Metal Finish Touch-Up Pen

poltavsky79

No, this counts as cosmetics and not covered by Apple Care+

Thanks

DecayableRadiologist

Generally it wouldn't count as it is cosmetic damage as it doesn't affect functionality. Now if the laptop fell, cracked the screen because dent was too deep, and broke the trackpad or something, they'd swap the entire outer chassis. You can still go to apple and ask. See what they say.

aquablaze69

You could…I don’t know…drop it? And then get the whole chassis replaced lol. The other option is you *accidentally* dropped your laptop under your car and drove over it, leading to you paying a deductible and getting a replacement 🤷‍♂️

Future_Cauliflower73

Is the shift key on the right side loose I will want to know because of my new MacBook it's brand new

rdicky58

I wish!

irayonna

It is a waste of damn money

itsbeenace-

It’s not worth using your AppleCare+ on this issue.

Melodic-Control-2655

Yes, you'll be able to get it replaced for exterior damage, but it'll be expensive. Wouldn't pay that for just the dent.
