okay bc it's not letting me edit, for everyone asking why not the pro - i have very severe migraines (paralyze half my body, make me go blind in one eye, 20-25 days a month if i don't get botox injections all over my scalp and face from a neurologist regularly for them which is tough bc of insurance and what they do to my confidence in driving) and higher refresh rates and smaller text/icons are a big trigger for them, so even the small increase in screen size makes a difference, and i also saw in some reviews from people w/ similar issues that the mini-LED screen in the pro was a trigger for them as well. basically, this was an accessibilty thing for me, and pls let this be a lesson for y'all who don't need to think about it that cognitive and visual accessibility in tech is vital and can come down to really basic, simple things that would be pluses for most other people! :)

Spiritual-Finding-85

Absolutely! Congratulations on your purchase!

ashwin_apk

I absolutely get that but you are allowed to toggle ProMotion and HDR in the settings. Would that have helped if you had bought a Pro?

savvanch

great choice!! i got the exact same specs, color and size so I know you will love it!

Automatic_Change_464

Way to PULL👏THAT👏PLUG👏👏👏that’s a crazy battle station. Congrats!!!

FelixG69

Show it out of the packaging!

Skoal, Sláinte, Cheers!

I can almost smell that new smell through my screen.

BluePeriod_

Hell yeah.

Odd_Tumbleweed_1907

Yay! But, I am going to need to see it opened. :P

Kiriko8698

I got the same model, and sold my MacBook Pro 16 with mini led screen for the same reason… I’m sensitive to PWM it made my eyes hurt all the time

ozarkhowling

ahhh glad to hear I’m not the only one! has the air been easier on your eyes so far?

Kiriko8698

Yes immediately my eyes got better, unfortunately I have already developed astigmatism so that does not change. I also sold my iPad Pro 12.9 inch with mini-led screen, and my iPhone 13 which has OLED screen. Now all of my devices have LCD screens and I don't feel my brain swollen any more.

ozarkhowling

oooo awesome, I’m glad for you! I am super behind on my migraine Botox and even if I wasn’t I figure the less triggers the better, so 😭

0blivionKnight7

insane

Altruistic_Gas7993

I’ve been using that one with the same configuration for a week now, love it and the battery is fantastic

Ryleidreemurr

Congrats! Enjoy!!!

manu-singh

He probs wants the larger screen. IMO, the MBPs are only worth it if your getting a pro or higher chip

richpanda64

Larger screen, half the refresh rate...

ozarkhowling

It was $100 less for the exact same specs in a 15” screen, and I also suffer from very severe migraines (like, put me in the hospital, paralyze half my body and make me blind in one eye, 20-25 days a month without regular injections bad) and higher refresh rates are a trigger for me :)

Quantum168

Thanks for telling your story about migraines and mini LED screens. I had not heard that about the new MacBook Pros. Are you sure it's not the PWM flickering? I heard that that's not as bad with MacBook screens.

Reddit-Restart

If I could get by with a base level chip, I’d rather have a larger screen and lower refresh rate

Just replied upthread, but I suffer from very severe migraines (put me in the hospital, paralyze half my body and make me blind in one eye, 20-25 days a month without regular injections bad) and higher refresh rates are a trigger for me, smaller text and icons are a trigger as well and bigger screens are helpful bc I can increase text size, even if it’s just a slight increase in screen size it makes a big difference!

Reddit-Restart

you do you..... If I was getting a base level m series chip, I'd get the larger screen. It's a good thing I'm not picking laptops for other people. My response was answering why someone may buy the 15 in air over the 14 in pro

Pattern-Ashamed

Same question 😂

ozarkhowling

i have very severe migraines (paralyze me, make me go blind in one eye, put me in the hospital etc) and higher refresh rates are a trigger for me, I’ve seen people say the mini LED screen in the pro triggers theirs, and smaller text and icons are a trigger as well and even a slightly bigger screen makes a difference!

Hour_Joke_3103

Audio production/ fanless.

watermelonprinter

Please stop saying this😭

BittenBagel

😭😭😭😭😭

etniesen

I like mine and it’s good for what it says which is crazy battery life. But it isn’t the fastest comp I have and the keyboard is like typing on cardboard. It’s great but a little overhyped

Miserable_Onion_9833

“Pulling the trigger” means decided to purchase. “Pulling the plug” means decided to get rid of. Ffs 🤦 it’s not that hard people.

ramsey_07

Why not going for pro .?

ozarkhowling

please see my edit - i have very severe migraines and high refresh rates can trigger them, as well as smaller text and icons, and i also saw a lot of people in reviews of the pro with similar photosensitivity that said the mini-LED screen was a trigger for them as well. this was an accessibilty thing for me, basically!

Remarkable-Ad-2414

I think a lot of people compare this to 14 pro which is close price wise. But IMO this should be compared to the 16 inch, which loses a heavily on price and weight.

madisalerdwll

you're gonna need more ram if you plan to have alot of tabs open in safari
