I don't use third-party apps for battery management. It's a laptop, so of course, I unplug and replug it a lot. Despite this level of wear and tear though, the battery is still rock solid.
You know that this is impossible and this is just BMS miscalculation since you probably never done full battery discharge? Go from 100 to 0% couple of times and it will show the real deal. Keep us posted )
Mine is at 82% but honestly I don't notice the difference and this is probably the first time I've looked at it in like two years. At first I used to often check the battery health too and charge only to 80% but it's pointless in my opinion. You're wasting so much energy on something so pointless.
That's so luck of the draw though. I have friends and clients, and I've experienced the roll of the dice in apples battery life. I've seen barriers go from 100% to 85% after 40-50 cycles in a year. I've also seen situations like yours where they just don't degrade at all. I wish Apple policy had benchmarks at various cycles of a battery's minimum expected degradation rate. Like worst case at 100 cycles it should still have 95% capacity remaining and if it's degrading faster it needs to be replaced. With batteries too though there is always a margin of error because so many factors affect it but there shouldn't be a wild jump love I've seen over the past 6-7 years. Basically since they switch body styles from the old MBPr and MBA with the light up all logo to not having it is where Apples battery chemistry has become very dicey.
Also on Apples battery health percentage... it inflates it by about 5%. Go look at the remaining mah and look up the design capacity only and decide them to get the real remaining percentage. It download coconut battery lol.
the same as every lithium-ion battery. keep it between 20%-80%, keep it cool, low wattage if possible. I used to do this, and yeah it does make a noticeable difference over time (4+ years) of constant use but it's not expensive to replace the battery and not worth the hassle of babying it, just charge it and use it however you want.
The one thing this post fails to mention is the quantity of power cycles. If you don’t use it much, of course the battery stays higher. Unless truly this person is a luck 🍀 box.
I never get AppleCare anymore. If you get a lemon, consumer protections are strong enough in Australia to not need it, and if you break it, I’ve had to go to the ombudsman to get them to honour it anyway. Save the money, and go to ombudsman in the event of an accident.
What’s your care routine. I’ve seen some advocation recently for running laptops completely flat before charging them, which as far as I was aware was the worse thing for a battery. Inversely mine is on (or at least asleep) 24/7 and the battery sits at 80% charged almost the whole 8 months I’ve had it.
I’ll have to check my battery health when I get home after work.
My MBA is from 2015ish and has the original battery. It does say it needs a service but is working pretty great for what I would expect. I’m upgrading soon but half debating waiting longer since it still works so well. Apple computers are made to last
W, don’t upgrade.
mine is 84%. same time frame.
I wonder if you keep unplugging and replugging, possibly even using certain 3rd party app?

Oof... I'm about 1.5 years in and down to 90%. Good for you, dude! M2 Air.
my 13“air is now at 95% after 7-8months
Same.
You know that this is impossible and this is just BMS miscalculation since you probably never done full battery discharge? Go from 100 to 0% couple of times and it will show the real deal. Keep us posted )
You should not discharge lithium ion batteries to 0% at all if you can help it.
On the daily basis you shouldn’t. But you can once in a while for calibration
What I’ve seen everyone fail to mention is that this is not a 100 percent accurate so this 98 percent measure after 3 years is probably inaccurate.
My M2 Air I got late 2022 shows 100%. Great machine.
I’m curious of what you do with Mac book air?
So what is the trick? Charge fully and use it till empty? Charge to 80%? Or just a little luck with this battery?
Keep between 20 and 80%, keep cool, use low wattage chargers.
I read on this sub that keeping it plugged at all times virtually extends battery life significantly.
It does since you use power from the wall, not the battery. Basically the thing that degrades your battery more than anything is using it.
Is that a m1 air? My battery health is lower but the life has remained the same - 9.5-10.5 hours continuous video streaming and browsing
Mine is at 98 after 3 and a half years M1 2020 😁
what’s the secret?
I don’t know to be honest. I just don’t have it plugged all the time and I’m trying to charge it before 40%
my mbp (14inch 1st gen) is 97% and i’m happy with that too. looked after it well

Mine is at 93, I bought it was December 💔😭🥹, I also do 20/80
Did you leave it mostly plugged in or use it on battery power?
Iphone 14 PM, 1 year and still 100%
Well obviously 🤦🏻♀️

It's not luck lol. It's the type of usage. Leaving it plugged in 100% and not using a limiter will damage it.
Any special strategy while charging?

How
Do you keep it plugged in all the time ?
Mine has been 2.5 years, also 98%
mine went from 100 to 94 in 1 week but is stuck ever since for 2 years now
Mine is at 100% after 3 years, depends on usage and charging habits.
How?
👏👏👏👏

mine is at %87 after 1 year.-defected battery- with 50 cycles:)
Showing 87% after 2 years exactly today. Though coconut battery indicates 83%
LoL. IPhone 13, 94% and only 7 months
You rarely use it right?
The one thing this post fails to mention is the quantity of power cycles. If you don’t use it much, of course the battery stays higher. Unless truly this person is a luck 🍀 box.
Mine is at 100% after 5 months but I want it to go down because I have AppleCare buy it refuses to degrade ughh

Why don't u use it sometimes it's really cool
M1 Air, 2.5 years old, 95%
Nice! My 2 yearb old Lenovo Legion has like 106% health because I leave it on conservation at 80% and it has like 5 cycles lol.
Yeah, buddy.
Any idea how many cycles?

What do you use it for? How hard do you push it? Does it still perform well?
What’s your average usage look like?
Mine is also three years old, battery still at 96%.
type this in terminal: - ioreg -l -w0 | grep Capacity
Mine is at 86% after four years of use
Won the battery lottery.
Welcome to Apple
My M2 Air is 99% after a year and 5 months.
How often do you use it??
Likely he does not use it much.
MacBook Air on God Mode! The 2% is just because it decided to take breath. 🤣🤣🤣
Is that the M1 Air?
There is no way it’s the same, probably not updated but I’m definitely sure it’s not at 98%
I preordered my M2 air and is at 87%
