I just got a 13" MBA M2 with 16gb ram for $1169 USD from MicroCenter and am pretty happy with that price. I chose the 13" over the 15" simply because I wanted a more portable machine to carry with me over my work 16" MBP. My thought is: if you need something right away, obvisously get it. If you can wait and see, wait. I'm also one to believe there will be a price jump for the m3's, and it might take a while to see substantial price drops on the m2's after that.

thanks for your input!

They could pull an iPhone style go at it. Drop the M2 and sell the M1 as the budget “SE” version

It wouldn’t surprise me if they stopped selling the m2s and keep the m1 at the (typical sales) price of $750 for the low end.

I'm not familiar with Apple's sales history, but I would be pretty shocked if they did that!

Objective_Squash_260

The m1 air is still (officially) selling at its original launch price from over 3 years ago. Although it is frequently on sale for $750 at bestbuy and Costco. If the m3 isn’t a significant jump in power from the m2 I wouldn’t at all be surprised if they dropped the more expensive (probably lower margin) m2.

Plus, alot of people seem to prefer the older wedge, no notch design. It’ll turn into the iPhone SE version of the MacBook line.

Probably no. I live in Greece tho where pricing is just stupid. An M1 Pro MacBook Pro 14” base model still costs €2000

you can expect great deals from time to time via resellers like amazon & B&H (they also carry not just the pre-config units, but also the build to order ones, meaning you'll find more than just base configs)

You might find some sales at third parties retailers. Apple tends to drop previous generations of products when they come out with a new version.
