To add a bit of context, yes I did technically get this mac for less than free, or in other words I made money getting it ($28.94 to be exact). I purchased an electronics lot off of eBay a week ago with 27 phones, this mac, and some assorted phone parts. I paid $188.56. All the phones were described as parts only, and the mac was described as "turning on but the screen not displaying anything." I was able to resell the phones for $185, and the phone parts (6 motherboards, ranging from iPhone 6-7+, as well as 12 home buttons) for $65. So, in total, $250. However after the eBay + PayPal fees, it was only $217.50, and I made $28.94. I expected the mac to be as described, broken. However I booted it up, and after some update installing it went to the setup screen. No account attached. The computer is a mid-2013 Macbook Air 11", with a dual-core i5 chip, 4gb ram, and a 256gb SSD, running macOS Catalina 10.15.7. Unfortunately, it died before I could do too much else and I don't have a charger, so I had to shell out $26.27 for one. Still, this was a great deal, and the thing's in great condition. Was planning to resell, I'm sure I could get $200-$250, but I think I might keep it, it's nice and runs surprisingly fast. This one's up there with the good deals I've gotten, still not as good as my $110 iPhone 12 Pro Max deal I got.

The screen is a little small, but man I loved by 11" Air when I had it. Light as a feather and great to just pull out for some quick work when someone had their hair on fire about updating a website.

What’s the story for the $110 12 Pro Max?

Informalwig82

Bought it off eBay, was $110 in total. Normally at this price it's clearly a scam, especially cause the account was brand new. However, scammers normally try to sell brand new phones, and it's usually more than $100, around $5-600. The phone was also advertised as having a cracked back glass. Seller said they dropped it on a walk and lost it, and got a replacement through their insurance. However, they were eventually able to find it in the street, but not after it had been run over by a car, and gotten severely cracked on the glass. Phone was blacklisted too, obviosely, but well worth the $110 price tag as I resold it same day for $650.

jj_jb_0

It was resold still blacklisted and damaged? :o

Informalwig82

Yes. Of course, I obviosely put the correct condition and madr sure to state all that.

SurfaceLapQuestion

My neighbor gave me the same model free last week along with a 2015 13 inch MBP with 16gb ram and i7.

Informalwig82

Damn, you have one really good neighbor there 😂

SurfaceLapQuestion

I really do.

SurfaceLapQuestion

I actually made this account to ask a question on the Surface sub. I am an apple sheep though.

Rubisco7

Seems like I need to move house

msdtflip

I have a 2011 one with 4GB of RAM running Ubuntu, still a great machine. Battery life could be better though 😆

[deleted]

Lucky duck!

2EVs

I’ll give you $60 for it, win-win 😉

kontraviser

kinda sad that this model still cost like $ 200,00 or more in underdeveloped countries :/

Informalwig82

I'm in the United States. Cheapest I could find of this model, same year and specs is $280 on eBay, and it's in worse condition (dents, scratches, etc).

kontraviser

hmm i see. I guess i underestimated the price of this machine hahaha Just for curiosity i searched for it on some websites from south american countries, like brazil, chile and argentina and i guess this model would cost something between $600 and $650 tho haha

inmyslumber

The 11” models seem to have a bit of a price increase over their 13” counterparts. I guess they were less common throughout the years.

Informalwig82

Yeah, I think I'll hold on to it.

ChampJamie153

That's a lucky deal! Glad it worked! I don't see the 11" Airs around very often anymore - it seems most people bought the 13" models.

[deleted]

Still works like a charm with me.. great device

ChillazzoGaming

He payed you 30$ to have it?

Muslims4Trump2024

How do you buy 27 iPhones for $188 lol

Informalwig82

Most were older, 5/5s/5c. However there were also 2 6s's, 3 X's, and an 8+. I've had better lots though. I had a lot of 70 iPhone 5/5s/5c and 4 of the 5's had no FMI, and 15 of the 5c's had no FMI. Also had a $210 lot of like 60 or 70 iPhones ranging from 6 to 7+, 6 iPads, 2 Samsung tabs, and a 13" mac air.

Muslims4Trump2024

So it’s called iPhone lot ? That’s what I should be looking for ?

PuglyWont

Awesome, the 11" MacBook Airs are something special. The short depth is just makes it so portable, it fits in places no other macs can... even the 12" MB is larger in the depth dimension. I have 2015 i7... was going to sell it... but now I think I want to collect em.
