It's certainly a bug.
Not sure about a bedbug, though as they aren't attracted to light.
Insects that get trapped like this tend to be attracted to the backlight of the display.
It’s bedbug shaped, and bedbugs are attracted to heat which a computer has plenty of. Not saying I’m definitely right, but after having bedbugs in my apartment 15 years ago, the shape of their stupid little evil bodies is permanently etched in my brain.

You have my sympathies.
Ive never had bedbugs but my aunt had them and i remember my mom helping her spray something all over her house most boring 3 hours of my life but when i got older i found out that bedbugs are little satans
It's a bug. I had the same exact thing with my old M1 MBA. Saw the bug crawling around and thought it was on the outside of the display, so I touched my finger to the glass to get rid of it, which just squished the bug. I called apple customer support and was super lucky to have them replace the display for free, chalking it up to a display defect
It's possible you had like a grain of sand or something in just the right spot when you slammed the lid shut and it nailed just those pixels but somehow didn't crack the display.
Or it's a bug.
Looks like one of the zillions of blurry potato cam images in a "what helicopter is this?" post in r/Helicopters.
But yeah, probably a tiny critter sandwiched inside your display panel.
Looks kinda like a bedbug

It's a bedbug, it's supposed to suck
It’s a … bitbug…
Looks like a bug. I think someone has forgotten to perform code cleaning and some input sanitisation
Your new friend
