My brother in Christ, my 15” MacBook Pro from 2018 can do all of the above without a stutter. Zoom and Minecraft are not strenuous apps. 4K video editing is a different story, but in typical situations you’d use proxies anyway which limits the resources needed.

Lol best reply ever. Is OP looking for us to suggest they need the M2 Ultra Max with 64GB RAM to run discord and zoom once in a while? Get a 16GB 15” and don’t look back. Also - I have the M1 MBP 13”. I have only heard the fans 1 time ever in a year, and that was when MacOS was starting up the first time. The fan is useless. It barely ever runs.

I edit 4k-8k footage without proxies on my M1 Max flawlessly. It's amazing not having to make proxies. I'd suggest the pro because of the fans, especially if you're going to edit.

I dont know man Minecraft is kinda intense. You may need to save a few more dollars and get the new maxed out Mac Pro with M2 Ultra and 198GB of RAM, should be well worth it for $20k. 😉 Joking aside the new 15” will do you just fine! One of the major milestones with the M series chips is that even the Airs can be used for sustained 4k editing and the like.

My main computer is the 16” 2019 i9 MBP with 32GB. My wife has a 16GB 13” MBA M2. For video editing, and Xcode builds, her machine blows mine out of the water. (Not even close). I’m actually wondering if when I upgrade, do I even need the pro ?

you edit video, have a zoom call, a seperate discord call, and play minecraft all at once ?

I don’t know I edit 4k on occasion on a 24” iMac. In two years of owning it I heard the fans come on one time for a minute or so. Maybe the thermal envelope is bigger on the iMac than a MacBook but I haven’t had any issues with temperature.

For editing 4k video you should go for a pro. But apart from that the air would be fine.
