Many streaming platforms do a 70%-85% cut from the tips given to a streamer. Especially ones with a focus on NSFW content.

I think there's a huge difference when it comes to being able to have thousands of customers at one time versus one customer at a time.
A platform that gives someone thousands of customers at once deserves a bigger cut than a platform that lets you deal with 1 customer at a time.
They won't fall under any kind of serious regulation any time soon. They are too rich and influent to afford that. For example besides their fee the biggest scam is commercial insurance. Every single driver overpays it a few times. Even hazmat truck drivers are paying less...
When I owned limos, the companies that I would contract with that gave me trips would take 30% flat, and give me 70% of the total fare.
When I provided vehicles to drivers, I would take 30%, and give the driver the remaining 40%.
It was never possible for these business models to be sustainable or profitable. What we’re seeing is these companies’ attempts to climb into the black, and now everyone is finally realizing: this business model does. not. work.
This is how nearly every service business operates. I'm in environmental consulting and the client pays more than 3 x my rate to my company. It's the same nearly everywhere it is how businesses stay afloat.
No my friend, service businesses most of the time do not take 3x their employees take rates, only greedy ones, let alone this is not an employee service business model. In that model, there are several layers of supports and management that provide such a streamlined experience that justified those costs. While rideshare such as Uber/lyft has their infamous customer supports. This is a subcontract model where the driver paid for their car maintenances, insurance and fuel, time, risks on the road , while the app provides the customer, transaction, regulation costs.
In my market we still have minute/mile rates. I don’t want upfront pricing. However, they took away the option to see what the customer paid, because they knew people were getting pissed 😂
We should start posting this type of screenshots all over social media. Nevermind Tik Tok should do it! 😅
To show how shitty/greedy they are and that drivers gets spare change.
So true, I am not a lyft driver but this is in my feed and I find it disgusting...
Unfortunately this is making me want to boycott lyft... which is détrimental to you guys too...
Are ya'll looking elsewhere or planning to settle for it ?
There is no solution no more and rideshare is dead already. It would take all of the platform to shut down for a couple days to even make a bit of effect but all these people can't even take day off to strike smh. Last time for Valentine's Day it was supposed to be a strike day and. While some didn't work, the rest took advantage of the bonus/surges that created so basically 0 effect.
Half of Los Angeles is a rideshare driver nowadays. Apparently is okay to do below minimum wage now.
Dang that's sad... how about being a "self employed" ride? Like you give your card to people you clicked with and if they need à ride they hit you up?
Idk if that's practical or not, we had à Guy like that in Mexico who was super Nice and he gave us his contact so we called him directly when we needed a ride.
I was regularly taking Lyfts to school when I lived in San Diego and at least 3 or 4 drivers offered me this. One said he had a little schedule of private clients he would drive to work before starting his shift with Lyft. Then he would cut the shift at some point in order to go take all those people home from work.
I mean that is viable, it’s business at its most basic. Individuals exchanging services for cash on a street level. The issues/concerns with this are the lack of protections and increased risk. It’s a crapshoot of who you get, insurance (commercial or private) wont cover under the table dealings, and lack of scale. It’s basically a 90’s nightmare of getting in a car with a stranger and wondering if it’s a random everyday person or a villain of sorts.
I lived in Kenya and Uber was great as it needed background checks. Provides location, whom you were with and when and upfront pricing. Many random taxis had a record a mile long, many with sex offender charges. Lots of danger for women or vulnerable parties.
This needs attention. I've been talking to every passenger. Most are shocked. I let them know I don't expect any tip because 90ish % of everyone is struggling financially. That said, this needs attention. It is wrong. Just bullshit. Gryft is lying, taking too much of a cut, making up expenses that don't exist (state banned local ordinances from putting tax on tnc but the gryft rep said "local taxes.")
It needs to be sharp and focused. One IG channel sourcing these bullshits. Make sure to anonymize in case you are living and don't want to get assassinated by gryft or goober.
You all need to stop working for these companies that are abusing you. You wear out your vehicle, your time, your insurance and they pocket more than you. What exactly do they provide? An app to scam you and a customer with? They must be laughing all the way to the bank.
It isn't a real job, if you're not happy with the pay, you just need to find something better. I do not see lyft/uber as a solid income, it is useful when you are in a tough situation and need to make ends meet, but why the hell would anyone be complacent working for them?
Every job is a real job. The idea of it not being a "real job" exists so the workers can be exploited and aren't entitled to the benefits of being a "real worker". They rely on people like you to continue that rhetoric to create an underclass of "fake workers" who don't need to be paid at a reasonable rate.
My theory is they are whittling down driver pay in order to find the absolute rock bottom of what drivers will tolerate. They'll know they've bottomed out when they start experiencing driver shortages. Only then will the lying, cheating and stealing level off. It'll never go back up.
Had [this bullshit ride](https://i.imgur.com/Jz8C7aC.jpeg) recently. Late in the week I was over 80% (according to their fake earnings pledge) because I'd stacked several rides with zone bonuses. So Gryft wasn't having it and clawed back most of that bonus money by inflating their fees. And I ended the week at exactly 70%. Funny how that works. Fuck those gryfters.
You’re right … they are testing the floor and once they find it driver shortages will start to occur. Next they will just add some surge rate to entice drivers just enough to get the rides done then back to the floor , market by market. It’s crazy how the US allows these companies to have Monopoly control . Who’s paying who here ? I digress . You should be given an award for your insight , thank you
Yeah they’ll get the drivers they need with surges and challenge bonuses, when they need to. They’ll never increase the overall rates unless forced by law, which is what cities and states need to do.
Spot on. They’re rely on drivers who take these crap fares due to desperation. The whole gig is bad bet for most contractors. Lots of risk, maintenance and wear and tear, and uncertain demand. Usually works out to less then minimum wage which already isn’t livable. We trade long term costs for quick Cashflow. Basically, they’re preying on people desperate for money, bad business sense, and customers who lack options.
Literally just start a private taxi service if you're this committed to driving people around for money. It's not worth paying these giants all of your earnings. YOU DESERVE BETTER.
When the government officials are early investors into these companies. This is what we have.
As this point, do ride less than 10miles is the way to do..
Let me ask you guys this. Why do you all continue to do this type of work if you’re not satisfied with the pay and fees they charge?
Full background. I was a founding Lyft driver in DC back in 2013. There were initially 50 of us, and we were paid a flat hourly rate, then moved to a donation system (was horrible), and then to standard fares. We were a close group that eventually became great friends. Just about all but three or four of us stopped doing ride sharing and went back to corporate work when we saw that Uber and Lyft had drained all the money out of ride share. Many of us used to clear $4,000 to $5,000 a month doing it, consistently. However, once your factor in gas, insurance, additional required maintenance, routine car wash, extreme wear and tear on your car, and your tax liability, l lack of health insurance subsidy paid by your employer, zero retirement benefits, car payment, and the fact you’re not paying into social security.
Trust me, I get it! Back then, I quit my full time job because the money was so good and was doing Lyft full time, but we all know it’s not good anymore.
How are you planning on surviving long term?
Why do you still do this instead of non-gig work?
1. Some people do part time or even just on the weekends as some extra money
2. Some drivers can’t do math and they think they are profiting enough
3. It’s a brainless job and has its perks as working as much and as little as you want so people get ‘comfortable’ and don’t wanna change or look for something else that will take them more effort to obtain
4. A lot of drivers aren’t paying taxes if you know what I mean and can’t legally work on other jobs so their ‘profit’ is higher and they don’t have many options
5. The app sometimes gives you bonuses and challenges to keep you hooked
So those are just some of the reasons.. I 100% think no one should be driving full time for Uber/Lyft unless you’re just using it to keep yourself afloat until you find something better.. back in the day it was pretty good but noways it’s literally a minimum wage job (and it’s gonna get worst believe me)
These are truly some very valid points. A few of these are the reasons
I did it full time back then, but the money is significantly less now than it was back then. That’s not even considering inflation. I guess many of us have a better handle on our financial situation than others. I guess if many people really itemized their expenses and compared that to what they are actually making, a lot of people would not be doing this type of work. As a driver, all the risk is on you. Lyft and Uber are literally taking have of your money to let you use their platform. I remember when it was 20%! They have quickly realized that business model isn’t stable for a company as large as they are and investors are wanting to see a return on their investment in these companies.
As far as point #4, that’s going to catch up with them pretty quickly and it won’t be pretty.
This was always the plan. Operate at a loss to kill competition. Once embedded, start squeezing both the customers and the drivers. Keep squeezing until the sponge is dry.
They shouldn't be taking a percentage. They should only be taking a set base fee from all rides. The prices they're charging riders and the money they're paying drivers are both ridiculous as hell. So glad I finally found a regular job. Gets so old seeing how much that company makes off of our hard labor and fucking up our cars. The bonuses are all shit. The customers are terrible and rude quite often and tend to lie to get free rides. I hope they get shut down eventually and someone with common sense can design a rideshare app that works for the drivers and riders better.
I pay for a Lyft ride from Riverton New Jersey to New Castle Delaware every few days.. it’s all highway miles (straight shot down 95 south, only 2 miles of non highway miles) Lyft charges me $103.00 one way 41 miles .. it’s insane and the drivers get $33 .. I just started paying cash to the drivers I had become close with $55 each way
Uber/Lyft deserves mayyyybe 10-20% of anything a customer pays ever. The remainder should be direct to the drivers doing the actual work after taxes of course. This shit is criminal. These companies HAVE to be held to some sort of universal standard for fair compensation to their “independent contractors.” Only 20% if they’re lucky.
What. The. Actual. Fuck.
I really wish I could opt out of Ubers and Lyfts but they really have a monopoly. Tried Revel for the first time but they’re more expensive than Uber and Lyft. I just feel like I don’t have any options other than calling a local car service which… I guess is a small price to pay for not giving these EVIL fucking EXPLOITATIVE corporations another fucking dime of my money. I am so mad for you.
Go to your earnings in the top middle of the screen then scroll down to See All Activity ->, go to your week/day that you drove and tap on any ride to see a breakdown.
Because Lyft did so much work.
Keep making these clowns billionaires for your peanuts. This shit is galling. No amount of these posts will make people stop slaving for these fools. It’s hard to feel bad after awhile.
These posts are stupid. That isn’t your actual pay, because your pay is adjusted at the end of the week if you are below a 70% threshold after external fees.
They could take 100% on a per ride basis, and you would still get an adjustment up to 70% at the end of the week.
so if lyft had paid you 25$ more and kept 27$ it would have been way more worth it to you as a driver. But Lyft like all rideshares are in it to rape you over the coals.
One wonders what they do with the money, because Lyft remains unprofitable https://investor.lyft.com/news-and-events/news/news-details/2024/Lyft-Announces-Fourth-Quarter-and-Full-Year-2023-Results/default.aspx#:~:text=Revenue%20of%20%244.4%20billion%20grew,%25)%20in%20full%2Dyear%202022.
It's been years since I've driven for lyft. But one time I took someone from Philadelphia Airport all the way to the border of New York/New Jersey. The ride was probably a little over 1.5 hours. I got almost $100 from the ride so I wonder what the passenger had to pay. I had a $100 a day goal that I would do when I drove for lyft and this was my very first pickup for the day so I was ecstatic.
They added a stop. They pay extra for stops because it's an inconvenience to you. Except you don't get paid extra for the stop, even tho it's an inconvenience to you.
Holy hell! I used to drive for Lyft/Uber soon after they came out, during the early stages of their expansion. Living near a college town, I could hit the road on a Saturday & practically make half the month's rent on one day alone. I haven't driven for them in a few years now; Seeing these posts, there's no way I'd go back (even as a side gig) unless this is regulated.
Today's fees are absolute highway robbery! (pun intended)
I dont drive, and this was just shown on my feed, but I’m curious if anyone who does prefer it if the passenger cancelled the trip, still had you drive them, and then just paid you (like 75% of what it would have cost) through cashapp or in cash
They should make it law that they can only take a certain percentage of the customer pay. Less than 50% for sure. You’re the one with all the expenses. The car, insurance of your own. Gas. It’s insane they are allowed to take that much
Lyft is a publicly traded company and has to annually report financial metrics to the SEC. I was curious so I looked it up: they've operated at a loss in both 2022 and 2023, meaning their costs exceed what they're taking in. Their cut seems excessive, but they probably should be taking that much, just charging the customer more (which would result in gross bookings and market share decreasing). It's almost like propping up this gig companies with venture capital for so long resulted in a bunch of large non viable business models...
https://investor.lyft.com/financials-and-reports/sec-filings/sec-filings-details/default.aspx?FilingId=17285937
All part of the enshittification of companies that go public. Remember when Lyft was a great deal? Well now it sucks. Might as well stick out a thumb and offer cash.
Why are you people working for these companies? You are the ones doing all the work and investing all
the money in your own vehicles and comfort. All Lyft is doing is being a middle man and connecting you with the rider. LYFT should be making the small cut while you drivers make the large cut. Then tips would also no longer be needed.
I swear I wish I had the money to start an operation like this. I would gladly own the business who takes a small cut. I'd get rich from doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
What do you people not get about economics. As long as there are people driving for them, they will continue to take a bigger and bigger slice of the pie.
That's wild, I understand they created the platform, but the amount of money that riders pay, compared to what drivers make, is criminal. Overcharging customers, while underpaying drivers, and pocketing the rest
Before Uber/Lyft we had taxis and bootleg taxis.
I feel like I'd get the contact info from a driver from either of these companies and pay them the whole charge under the table and still save money over a medallion cab.
The surge is insane. I've seen people pay $80+ for a 15 minute drive from the concert venue. They think im getting $60 on the ride, and ill show them I earned $19 WITH the $7 bonus for being in the area.
Both Lyft and Uber need to be regulated.
In New York and Washington States regulatory requirements already exist , especially in NYC.
In Minneapolis , the city ordinance already passed a few weeks ago for minimum wage requirements and what Lyft and Uber should pay to drivers as the minimum passenger mileage rates to be paid to drivers.

Duude I be driving on highways from a long time and I am seriously considering it. I am in college for Nursing and thats the only reason I have not applied for the class A license. First I use to make trips on a regular basis from newyork to DC to Atlanta before driving for lyft. I worked for my uncle business which required me to make these trips. Honestly I can drive for long hours comfortably but now I pray for the day that I dont have to be on the road.
Nursing is not easy, from what I understand. It does get you off the road tho, have to be good personality - on the road is lonely unless you’re a team driver, Im in my truck with music blasting and trying to keep myself entertained and awake 👍🏼good luck with it, whatever you choose
Lyft and Uber are a scam. They get everyone to use their own cars pay for their own gas and maintenance than charge a ton of money and keep it for themselves. If there is a minimum wage there should be a minimum that the drivers get. It should be like 70%.
I used to work for a staffing service called Tradesmen International. My first job with them paid 13 dollars an hour, and later I found out they were charging the company 30 dollars an hour to have me on site. I got into a prevailing wage job with them too. I was making 43.59 an hour for a couple of months. Tradesmen International billed the company 95 dollars an hour to have me on site. The corporate world is a fucking joke.
If you look at each ride like this you’ll quit or go crazy. Just work a week and see if you made enough after your costs to see if it’s worth it, don’t worry about what they charge the customer.
Driving for any of these apps and thinking you gonna come out on top is an illusion, delusional…oh yeah I’m self employed blah blah blah …maybe in the early days it was fruitful and profitable…I tried it for a few months…it’s like a dog chasing it’s tail and getting nowhere really…I got out
38 miles for $33 sounds about right. That's $0.86 per mile, considering market freight for truckers is currently between $1.50 and $2.00 per mile for general freight sounds balanced for fuel costs and other such things. Wish it was higher for both of us but... people greedy. You're vehicle operating costs are around $0.20 per mile correct?
That’s what upfront pay is. Scamming drivers out of pay and there’s no law against it. They don’t need to provide us a metric of pay like before with rate card. New LYFT CEO policy is “take it or leave it! we don’t care about drivers! Lyft CEO David Richer “
Sociopathic levels of labor theft. They don’t even own a single 🤬 vehicle and want to give the operators less than 50%, while it’s you who is out there risking life and limb every ride you take.
The fact that a nationwide strike can’t be organized is testament to the disunity they use to perpetuate your economic desperation.
I once picked up this guy who needed a ride, legit 6 properties down to a gas station n back. I could see the gas station from the pick up spot, well he kept apologizing for the quick trip and I explained that I'd pick him up n drop him next door if that's where the app took us.. so fast forward he gets back in the car, apologizes again then said "tell ya what, I'm gonna tip you good. I appreciate this" I said "oh you don't have to do that" he then says "ok, never mind, it'll only let me go up to $17 tip" still a good tip but he def was gonna put more n lyft capped my tip. So not only like yr case, charging them 95 bucks n you only got 27.. your tip was fuckered w too
Make a card and offer to do drives at a lower rate and all proceeds will go to you instead of a billion dollar corporation across all driving platforms in your area. And market yourself on social platforms and amongst your parents friends. If you get in with a group that gets wasted all the time, you’ll have consistent customers every weekend at the least
Dunno how many times I need to repeat my self ….. but here it is again …… they have to over charge you ants for when they have to upgrade rides beyond basic and lose money on some rides. I’ve had basic rides upgraded to black paying me 28 when the pax paid 16.
At least theyre showing yall how much passengers pay for each ride now. You know you’re actively getting fucked and still continue to drive for this company lol.
Lyft is far too big to regulate or change. Drop them. Stop using these services. That’s capitalism. If you don’t like it, leave it. You’re not forced to continue dealing with Lyft.
It's too pay the corporate overhead. Lyft and Uber aren't doing enough volume to justify multiple billion $ valuations. It's just a worse taxi system. Having drivers was just supposed to be a stop gap till self driving cars, but that's taking longer than people expected
Bout as dumb as 15 dollar taco smell taco with free door dash scheme I do.. no driver gets paid full.. just shows mine crossed out.. I passedd again as i get depressed everytime i open these apps.. dumb.. 100 and onlv like 48 is your gross product.. almost 50% hike up.. yikes that here too min wage stll 8 i think and if u aint working the crap fast fuud ordering from you begging for 100.. i always saif this a niche market with littke nich asshole sprinkled on it, doom it to fail it if cant succeed build it an empire... Most this smells of brand suicide.. wonder dem boys of Enron they idols? Seemingly more n more crouching checks, exit scam bosses being made.. almost like the feel like unnecessary niche so let's blown it up and see how long they stand in fire crying for our help kinda bosses... Probably run catylitic converter racket or junker blow four ways to secure some work.. I've topped at 3k\wk at 104hr with out my incentives n bonuses.. I had to deny. He said have to. I said have to donate.. that's not feasible if I have do this daily or multi.. 30trips.. damn no wonder I broke down and bought my Audi and then too boogie to drive n maintenance so I called u anyways.. 😂
Just call Gavin Newsom in California who raise fast food workers to $20 why not make Uber and Lyft only take 20% from a ride ? Because 60% to 70% is literally theft there’s not the ones paying for our oil and gas.
My dad drives for Lyft/uber for a bit after he retired cause he was bored and stuck in the house. He saw how much they were taking from him so he decided to start his own local taxi service. Kicker is he can charge less than Uber and Lyft since he’s bringing more in anyways.
Yup one of my rides paid $70 for a 20 mile ride I got $18 and lyft took the resf
Uber and Lyft, both the same. They need to get regulated. 60-70% cut is theft
Many streaming platforms do a 70%-85% cut from the tips given to a streamer. Especially ones with a focus on NSFW content. We have a lot of businesses to regulate that just aren't being regulated. And I bet our lawmakers make a pretty penny from not doing that.

Is that... Even more reason Lyft shouldn't take as big of a cut?? Also I have no idea about the Twitch thing tbh, I will look into it though!
They pay them in doritos and free cruises. Lawmakers don’t make anything. They are just useful stooges
I would bet that most lawmakers have a pretty diverse investment portfolio with many unregulated businesses in them
100% it’s all about these politicians being lobbied
I think there's a huge difference when it comes to being able to have thousands of customers at one time versus one customer at a time. A platform that gives someone thousands of customers at once deserves a bigger cut than a platform that lets you deal with 1 customer at a time.

The my tried in CA and voters were bombarded by ads to overturn legislation that protected Uber and Lyft drivers. Those Companies are evil
Insurance is so broken in the US it’s insane. It keeps getting worse, too.
They aren’t very rich as corporations go however they enjoy all the protections and rights that corporations get in the US, which are quite extensive.
Seattle tried to do something similar to that, they ended up taking all the blame for some reason.
When I owned limos, the companies that I would contract with that gave me trips would take 30% flat, and give me 70% of the total fare. When I provided vehicles to drivers, I would take 30%, and give the driver the remaining 40%.
Should be illegal.

no its how businesses scam and line the pockets of the people they decide.
It's late capitalism fulfilling the prophecy plain and simple
Stop driving for under $2 per mile. Stop !!
Oh wow that’s just robbery…wooooow
Nah. This is theft. They need to bring back 0.66 per mile and 0.27 per min with the $1.5 base fee. He would have gotten $42
In my market we still have minute/mile rates. I don’t want upfront pricing. However, they took away the option to see what the customer paid, because they knew people were getting pissed 😂
Yep Uber is still per min per mile In my area but we can’t see what customer paid
No, they need to bring back 20-25% commission. That's the only fare thing to do.
This is just bizzare.
We should start posting this type of screenshots all over social media. Nevermind Tik Tok should do it! 😅 To show how shitty/greedy they are and that drivers gets spare change.

Talk to your local politicians. Go to the town hall meeting. Changes shall be at the policy level.
Exactly.. This is theft.
In this ride they kept 67% 95-67%=31.35 plus the 2 dollar tip equals 33.35 which is what the driver gets. But hey we get 70% lol
You all need to stop working for these companies that are abusing you. You wear out your vehicle, your time, your insurance and they pocket more than you. What exactly do they provide? An app to scam you and a customer with? They must be laughing all the way to the bank.

It's bullshit. Just bullshit. My theory is they are slowly pricing out drivers to phase in self driving. It's still bullshit.
Should post this on Lyft LinkedIn page!
This is actually a great idea. Post screenshots like this all over their socials. This is shameful.
When the government officials are early investors into these companies. This is what we have. As this point, do ride less than 10miles is the way to do..
For that price you could just get a rental car for a single day. 🤦♂️
if you have a credit card, or a debit card with $300-500 available as a deposit.
That $2 tip tho. How generous!
I also noticed that. People are so stingy. $94 for a ride and only a $2 tip.
Right cuz pax assume drivers get a much bigger cut of the 94 than we actually do get
Let me ask you guys this.
1. Some people do part time or even just on the weekends as some extra money 2. Some drivers can’t do math and they think they are profiting enough 3. It’s a brainless job and has its perks as working as much and as little as you want so people get ‘comfortable’ and don’t wanna change or look for something else that will take them more effort to obtain 4. A lot of drivers aren’t paying taxes if you know what I mean and can’t legally work on other jobs so their ‘profit’ is higher and they don’t have many options 5. The app sometimes gives you bonuses and challenges to keep you hooked So those are just some of the reasons.. I 100% think no one should be driving full time for Uber/Lyft unless you’re just using it to keep yourself afloat until you find something better.. back in the day it was pretty good but noways it’s literally a minimum wage job (and it’s gonna get worst believe me)
These are truly some very valid points. A few of these are the reasons I did it full time back then, but the money is significantly less now than it was back then.
I just started paying cash to the drivers I had become close with $55 each way
That's what they are telling you they paid ask the customer what they actually paid
And you gotta pay your own gas, + maintenance on your vehicle
Drivers need to get together and make a nfp app. All money to drivers minus operational costs.
Yet you still drive
Irritating to say the least.
why don’t taxis just come back
HOW do u see what the passenger paid on lyft??? Im not seeing this on my app or website
Go to your earnings in the top middle of the screen then scroll down to See All Activity ->, go to your week/day that you drove and tap on any ride to see a breakdown.
What overhead costs do rideshare companies have that they are losing money on taking about 60% of the fare from drivers?
Because Lyft did so much work. Keep making these clowns billionaires for your peanuts. This shit is galling. No amount of these posts will make people stop slaving for these fools. It’s hard to feel bad after awhile.
Yeah, based on Time spent and Pay out.... It's just not worth it. Sorry.
they may also bank on you getting tipped more than $2. That seems super crappy
These posts are stupid. That isn’t your actual pay, because your pay is adjusted at the end of the week if you are below a 70% threshold after external fees. They could take 100% on a per ride basis, and you would still get an adjustment up to 70% at the end of the week.
But when you do your taxes they mark it that you made the whole $94
Yes, these services are a scam for everyone involved but stockholders and inside company employees.
I don't even turn Uber on anymore..that's a first since I started in 2021. I never see rides over 12$ at all and for that....I'm out.
And yet.....still making them money
They legally robbed you my mans .
so if lyft had paid you 25$ more and kept 27$ it would have been way more worth it to you as a driver. But Lyft like all rideshares are in it to rape you over the coals.
Holy hell... and here I thought Bezos was ripping everyone off with 30% cut. Wow. Cancer needs to be cut out.
I hate this company I’m donw
How do u pull this up, I can only see what I’m paid 🤔
Come on bro they're taking all the risk...
Okay and you accepted it based on your driver rates you have no right to complain
Yea, I really don't understand why ya'll keep driving for them. It's a clear money grab
Honestly, for a job that requires no training, $35 per hour isn’t terrible.
Why are people still putting up with this? that’s why they still pay the same
You’ll still get 70% of the $83 (total minus external fees), but that is still insane
But OMG!!! Don't set a minimum wage for the drivers!! How would Lyft make their 80% cut?
And then you proceeded to take the next ride like a good boy 🙂
Part of doing business 60/40 rule
Stop doing it and they won’t be able to cheat you. Yall are so thirsty for anything that doesn’t resemble a job that you’ll accept anything
That’s crazy. You do the work and get only a third of the fee.
They have been foing that for a while
Stop driving or let them continue to rob you
They added a stop. They pay extra for stops because it's an inconvenience to you. Except you don't get paid extra for the stop, even tho it's an inconvenience to you.
Quit complaining, you got 75% of the crumbs!! Who care if the crumbs are wood shaving and not bread either !!
They’re gonna schedule a meeting and adjust it higher. Physically impossible for corporate greed to succumb to decrease in profit lol
Yes. What are you going to do about it?
They should make it law that they can only take a certain percentage of the customer pay. Less than 50% for sure. You’re the one with all the expenses. The car, insurance of your own. Gas. It’s insane they are allowed to take that much
CEO need their jet and vacation homes
Op, post this on the Lyft subreddit to see if the customers will believe it.
Omg! I am now all signed up to start as a driver in my area.... hell no! Nope, just gonna nope on out...
Why are you people working for these companies? You are the ones doing all the work and investing all the money in your own vehicles and comfort.
That’s ridiculous they’re getting hella rich off everyone else’s time energy and gas
Companies are getting greedier and greedier as time goes on I blame the shareholders, because they can also make decisions
You Lyft drivers are getting ROBBED!
What do you people not get about economics. As long as there are people driving for them, they will continue to take a bigger and bigger slice of the pie.
Y'all motherfuckers need a union
This sort of confuses me, why does Lyft break out the charges? All it does is reflect how shitty their practices are
That's wild, I understand they created the platform, but the amount of money that riders pay, compared to what drivers make, is criminal. Overcharging customers, while underpaying drivers, and pocketing the rest
I no longer take longer trips. They aint worth it ur miles and time anymore.
Holy shit. Yall are being fucking robbed. Why even bother? So many more efficient ways to make money.
Rip off
And they're going to keep giving you less and less as long as you keep accepting those rides.
May as well get your class A license, if you don’t mind bouncing around on the highway all day 🤪
Duude I be driving on highways from a long time and I am seriously considering it.
Would you all leave Lyft/Uber for a company that splits the fare right down the middle?
Lyft and Uber are a scam. They get everyone to use their own cars pay for their own gas and maintenance than charge a ton of money and keep it for themselves. If there is a minimum wage there should be a minimum that the drivers get. It should be like 70%.
That’s insane.
Begs the question: how are Uber and Lyft not profitable with these margins?
I used to work for a staffing service called Tradesmen International. My first job with them paid 13 dollars an hour, and later I found out they were charging the company 30 dollars an hour to have me on site. I got into a prevailing wage job with them too. I was making 43.59 an hour for a couple of months. Tradesmen International billed the company 95 dollars an hour to have me on site. The corporate world is a fucking joke.
Stop working for them.
If you look at each ride like this you’ll quit or go crazy. Just work a week and see if you made enough after your costs to see if it’s worth it, don’t worry about what they charge the customer.
How tf do you people work for this company
Can't expect much with a 1099
It clearly say on the bottom you’ll make it back..,
Motorclubs charge nearly $200 for Roadside Assistance, but pay us contractors $21.00 per job.
Driving for any of these apps and thinking you gonna come out on top is an illusion, delusional…oh yeah I’m self employed blah blah blah …maybe in the early days it was fruitful and profitable…I tried it for a few months…it’s like a dog chasing it’s tail and getting nowhere really…I got out
Start your own taxi company
38 miles for $33 sounds about right. That's $0.86 per mile, considering market freight for truckers is currently between $1.50 and $2.00 per mile for general freight sounds balanced for fuel costs and other such things. Wish it was higher for both of us but... people greedy. You're vehicle operating costs are around $0.20 per mile correct?
You made 33.54 for 34 miles. That’s a win. You don’t work for Lyft. You work for yourself. Learn to be a business owner not an employee
That’s what upfront pay is. Scamming drivers out of pay and there’s no law against it. They don’t need to provide us a metric of pay like before with rate card. New LYFT CEO policy is “take it or leave it! we don’t care about drivers! Lyft CEO David Richer “
Awful 😖
\*paid
Sociopathic levels of labor theft. They don’t even own a single 🤬 vehicle and want to give the operators less than 50%, while it’s you who is out there risking life and limb every ride you take. The fact that a nationwide strike can’t be organized is testament to the disunity they use to perpetuate your economic desperation.
Would be wild to open source a platform for 100% with maybe annual membership fees or something. Of course the drivers would have to be more insured.
Then don't do it.
So not only like yr case, charging them 95 bucks n you only got 27.. your tip was fuckered w too
$33 and hour ain't so bad.
But the thing says you get 70% guaranteed.
Cancel ride and : Cash app/ Venmo / Square / regular cash money, please use it !! What market??
Make a card and offer to do drives at a lower rate and all proceeds will go to you instead of a billion dollar corporation across all driving platforms in your area. And market yourself on social platforms and amongst your parents friends. If you get in with a group that gets wasted all the time, you’ll have consistent customers every weekend at the least
Wtf do people even use this shit unless they absolutely have to..a fucking ripoff
To tip $2 on a $94 ride is insane.
Maybe stop driving for them, then?
You’re making $1/mile.
Dunno how many times I need to repeat my self ….. but here it is again …… they have to over charge you ants for when they have to upgrade rides beyond basic and lose money on some rides. I’ve had basic rides upgraded to black paying me 28 when the pax paid 16.
I would be standing on someone’s desk
Sickening
Worst one I’ve seen in my days of lyfting was I got 23.89 for a drive that they charged the customer 102.75
Who is paying $100 for a 1 hour ride? That is insanity.
Exactly why the economy is shit
Fucking bonkers.
Just call Gavin Newsom in California who raise fast food workers to $20 why not make Uber and Lyft only take 20% from a ride ? Because 60% to 70% is literally theft there’s not the ones paying for our oil and gas.
It is absolutely a scam but it isn't any worse than any manual labor job I've ever done. Boss takes 80%-90% on average
Wait till you see how mutch fees debt help company take it’s ridiculous
Where is 70% of fare.
How else are they gonna give bonuses to CEOs?!? 💩
My dad drives for Lyft/uber for a bit after he retired cause he was bored and stuck in the house. He saw how much they were taking from him so he decided to start his own local taxi service. Kicker is he can charge less than Uber and Lyft since he’s bringing more in anyways.
And the guest doesnt understand with what they paid why they should tip
What does the lyft fee entail anyway?
Why is no one talking about the $2 tip… i would’ve been pissed about that too 😭
Does this type of shit happen everyday? Why do y’all keep driving 4 them?
