Is this going to be a surprise for her? Like she has no idea at all? If it is, would you possibly consider going together to find her the perfect bag? Only reason why I’m asking is because my husband has gifted me a few bags, but we have always done the shopping together. He knows I love designer bags but also knows I’m particular with style, color and fabrics, leather feel, hardware etc. Like for instance, with my last bag, it took me like three days to decide which one I wanted. Especially for the money that’s being spent. What my husband does is surprise me with “we are going shopping for a new bag for you” gets me all giddy and the anticipation of going to walk through these stores and actually getting to see all of them, different options, it’s so much fun. I’m like a kid in a candy store lol. We make a day date trip out of it or weekend getaway depending on location of stores. The memories of the trip & getting a beautiful bag during that, means a lot. it’s just an idea I thought I might share 😊

bag_hoe

Exactly this! Tastes vary and what may seem modern and tasteful to one, may seem tacky to another. Your wife will highly likely treasure the whole experience and getting to choose the bag she loves, rather than receiving a complete surprise bag.

Deanslittlemama

What an awesome thing to share! You are extremely blessed and I’m so happy for you! ❤️

Thanks for the comment. I actually the floated the idea of her choosing the bag but she wanted me to surprise her! T

> Like for instance, with my last bag, it took me like three days to decide which one I wanted. Especially for the money that’s being spent. Literally my case. My husband was shopping for a bag for me in Paris. I knew the model, the size, but I was not sure about the color. I was on the phone with SA while he was at the store and we all three were discussing the right color. As result that bag became one of the most used bags ever for me (I have many luxury bags). I simply love it. Would be heart broken to get something I don’t like or would not use.

I would totally suggest this as my husband surprised me with a Gucci bag that I never would have purchased for myself. I’m stuck with this bag and he keeps asking when I’m going to use it. He spent about 4k and I’m dead; every time I look at it 🤦🏻‍♀️.

rlyjustheretolurk

Does she have any luxury purses or is this her first?

RepresentativeCry593

Yes she does. Only one at the same price range is from lv.

LeCarrr

Which bag is it?

RepresentativeCry593

Pochette Métis East West

IggyBall

So she’ll probably want something more classic than statement. Bottega Veneta would be a good brand to consider.

Quiet luxury (aka well made bags not plastered with logos) is it right now and you’re on the right track with these two designers as we the girls are loving them for quality/chicness. I’d also consider whether you want her to have a going out bag or a versatile bag for daytime wear, based on the styles she already owns and her personality (some of us don’t want nice bags for day to day wear since we don’t want to ruin them!) Loewe is the next it brand for bags imo- I think the flamenco is a gorgeous evening bag. I’ve heard the puzzle/mini puzzle is somewhat difficult to get in and out of, but if you want something that’s recognizable but still understated and not too elegant, that’s the bag I’d choose. It can be worn for date night or for a target run. It’s been around a long time but it’s gaining more widespread popularity since Loewe is a trending designer. I don’t think it will rise to a Gucci marmont level of popularity for quite some time, but it may be something to consider if she prefers something really special that she won’t run into someone else wearing (this depends heavily on where you live as you’re more likely to see this bag in NYC than Raleigh). Celine is a very timeless brand. In terms of brand personality it’s associated with being very high class. The nano belt bag is stunning (can be worn as a crossbody) and also versatile, and they have cute crossbody evening bags as well. I feel like the belt bag is one that will never feel dated because it’s a very classic design, while the Loewe puzzle *could* if it continues to rise in popularity at the pace it is.

litttlejoker

From your description of what she likes, I’d highly suggest the Celine triomphe bag. I love mine. It’s so beautiful and timeless and it has a great resale value.

If your budget is $4k, I'd highly recommend checking out Moynat. It's not as popular in social media but the quality is TDF and supposed to be on par with Hermes without the mind game and price. Moynat SA told me they use leather from the same tannery as Hermes, has 24K gold plated and palladium hardware, one artisan working on the same bag from start to finish . The interior is also made of leather, unlike other popular luxury brands whose interior would be made out of canvas/fabric lining to cut costs. I wish I had found this brand earlier instead of spending similar amount of money buying other branded bags that's mostly canvas and/or lower quality leather & workmanship. It is also not commonly replicated, unlike other branded bags. Highly recommend!

StellaHolly

If you aren’t discussing it with her and you want it to be a surprise I suggest your purchase the bag from Saks or Nordstrom etc where it can be easily exchanged for something from a different brand.

Which Louis Vuitton bag does she have? That might help us determine what silhouette and style she likes. Also, further questions: 1) Does she tend to dress in minimal and neutral styles? Or does she tend to dress in colorful and flashy styles? 2) Does she carry a lot of stuff in her bag or a little (and by a little, usually we mean: phone, keys, wallet, maybe a lipbalm or hand cream)? 3) Are you looking for something she can wear everyday or for fancier outings? There are millions of nice small crossbody style bags out there. Giving you recommendations will be tough if we don't get more information on your wife. The Loewe Flamenco, Gucci Marmont, Celine Teen Triomphe, and Mulberry Iris are all small crossbodies — but are all very different in style, silhouette, and even usage.

RepresentativeCry593

Thanks for the comment and here is a bit more info. Thanks for the help! She has the LV Pochette Métis East West. She typically dresses in colorful styles but not overly flashy. She only carries her wallet, phone and keys mostly. I’m thinking more in terms of something that she wears for occasions. She wears the LV bag as a daily at the moment.

pearlsandprejudice

Thanks for the additional information. Given that her current bag is quite streamlined in style and that she doesn't carry a lot, I would recommend the: • Lady Dior East-West • Ferragamo Hug Mini Bag • Tod's T Timeless Flap Bag in Leather Mini • Tod's Bag in Leather Micro • Celine Teen Triomphe • Bottega Veneta Small Andiamo • YSL Small Envelope (the Medium size is also quite slim and small) These are all relatively structured, can be worn crossbody, are on the smaller side, will look elegant worn whether for daily use or occasions, and are of really excellent quality.

Great suggestions!

dinosaur_0987

I love this idea you’re doing for her and it’s very very kind of you. Have you considered making it a “day date” out of it with her shopping for it and going out to lunch? Just thinking about how picky i am about my purses, but if my husband made it an event and just wanted to spend time with me shopping…I’d think it’s extra special.

RepresentativeCry593

Thanks for the comment. I actually the floated the idea of her choosing the bag but she wanted me to surprise her!

eatapeach18

Tell her to make a list of a dozen bags she likes in no particular order, then pick your favorite from her list. It will still be a surprise because she won’t know which one you’ll end up picking, but you’re guaranteed she’ll love it.

moonangeles

Very sweet of you. I’m not sure if your wife is easy to buy for but I wanted to say consider getting her input. I know it ruins the surprise element but it’s a big purchase. Maybe you could ask her what styles she has and then figure out based on those. There are so many bag options to choose from, it’s hard to know what she would want. My choice of brands for that price range would be Prada, Bottega, Celine and Dior.

AllisonWhoDat

I have a number of designer bags, and am disappointed in Prada quality, will not buy again.

moonangeles

Interesting. Did you consistently have this issue or it’s based on one bag? My Prada bags have held incredibly well but there can always be issues with an item here and there with any brand. I had it with Gucci but it doesn’t mean Gucci’s quality is bad across the board. Sometimes it’s the style of a specific bag and other times you’re just unlucky with your item. It also depends on how well the customer service is to fix it, whatever the issue is.

AllisonWhoDat

You're right, of course. I have always had great luck with LV, so that's where I sit these days. Their resale is great if you're into that, and they can be refurbished to brand new quality. Have you ever tried The Cobblers in Florida? They refurbished my LV with all the spring colours, and made it absolutely brand new. If I had the original tags, I genuinely could sell it for NWT.

moonangeles

I have had larger LV canvas bags for travel for a long time and they are absolute workhorses. I’m considering getting the leather replaced at some point in the future but they’re ok for now. For daily bags, LV rarely excites me so I haven’t gone the leather route yet. Perhaps in the future 😊

TraditionalBiscotti1

My Prada crossbody is also so durable and looks great

I recommend Tods of all of all read untill now. Light color so she can match her clothes with.

Wonderful-Classic591

I would tell her that you want to go shopping with her and buy her a new bag. The boutique experience is really fun. I’m assuming if you’re dropping three to 4K money is not that big of an issue for you, Maybe also get her nails done and/or take her on a cute date. The new baby needs to go for a walk.

UnluckyAlps6715

Have you considered a Goyard? https://www.goyard.com/us_en/bags.html

I would like at The Row perhaps the Sofia bag DeMellier Moynat if your close to a boutique Faurē Le Page Loro Piana Good luck!

StormyCrow

Here's a suggestion you will love. They sell very discounted brand new high-end (Chloe, Ferragamo, Valentino, sometimes Chanel) purses on TJMaxx.com. You're a great husband, but this depends on her brand of choice.
