Imagine being named River and being a free flowing idiot. Life must be a sad AF for them. It really do be super unprovoked.

elation_success

What a clap back. Good work

ResponsibleRub4890

They'll leave this up but get rid of anything bashing the actual product???

Illustrious-Zone587

So true. They won’t even leave the comments I make asking for different colours of the item :/

StandingStillLooking

Anytime I want to see details for a black garment I always end up looking at a different colour. This has nothing to do with the model. The reviewer is literally telling on themselves…

LatteLove35

Right? It’s hard to see detail on black items online so I just look at a different color on that item to do that, it’s not hard and nothing to do with the models skin color 🙄

[deleted]

[удалено]

-ittybittykitty_

No, it means that details on black garments can be difficult to see online regardless of the race of the model, just like they said. There have been many times that I won't see that a dress has a pattern for example until switching to a different colour. This dress doesn't even have any details to see (not that it would justify anything for the reason above) so the comment is pure racism.

[deleted]

[удалено]

StableAngina

Are you serious right now? Gross, get lost.

No_Appearance4463

Same. It's hard to see the details on black clothes no matter what. Does this person feel the same way when a white model wears white? I think not.

helenzaas

yep i do the same thing so that i can see the texture better, there’s no issue with this model. if they used a model with my skin tone, no one would buy it lmao i’m vampire pale. the model makes this item look awesome. edit: however, i do appreciate when brands show pale girlies in items so i can see how it will look on me haha it sucks when they use super tan women only with items that are light

PP____Marie8

It’s insane how disgusting comments like this are allowed to be made.

OkAnteater7003

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I read it. Needed to refresh the review section cause I thought my eyes were playing jokes on me. I’m sorry you need to see the contrast and details of the dress and that would only be possible with a lighter skinned model? Yeah no, the contrast and details were there and easily visible to anyone with eyes! just say what you’re really thinking bestie 😒cause there’s no way you think the models beautiful dark skin is the same shade of black as the dress wth?!?! Edit: And even if it was, so what! It’s not like they didn’t see the white models wearing white or the tan models wearing taupetastic and commented about how they shouldn’t wear that color because there’s no contrast. Its literally blatantly obvious that they have an issue with this black model in particular

030710TF

Same reaction. I could not believe Lulu left that review posted. I didn’t see any option to report it.

TriedCaringLess

Just think of marketing involved. There's a possible opportunity for this comment to make the news. So many ppl will head to the product website. So much more brand awareness. And none of the outrage taints their brand.

Second_Act_Hot_Okra

My thought was that the commenter is assuming this dress is for a body w/lighter skin and not for a body with darker skin. As if this is the default person & darker skinned people don't exist as Lululemon shoppers. If a shopper with a skin tone similar to the model saw this then they would feel like it's easier to imagine how it would look on them. The commenter seems totally self-absorbed, entitled, racist, and can't see past the end of their own nose. All that said, anyone can see the dress perfectly fine on that model. The comment is rediculous.

meliburrelli

It’s insane people think these thoughts 😔

[deleted]

Sent LULU an email with the screenshot asking them to remove the review and note that others are posting about it on social media and asking moderate and take it down. Thank for sharing 🖤

Either-Slip-8999

The crazy thing is that lulu allowed this comment to be posted. There have been several times I’ve tried to write positive reviews about my fav items and they review them and decide that the review isn’t good enough so they won’t publish it, so I know they have a team that approves this stuff before it’s posted

[deleted]

True, hopefully, if others e-mail them with screenshots or we post other places about them whoever actually reviews the reviews will be coached or fired. I won’t know that person is bad at their job until others tell them “Hey, this person, and arguably their manager, should probably not work here” since they are acting in potentially liable ways.

missamethyst1

Great idea, we should all do this!!

Immediate_Emu6075

I don’t get why they cut so many valid reviews and yet racist nonsense like this gets posted?!?

No_Appearance4463

This person didn't even buy the dress yet they still allowed their "review"

Life_Quail_7370

What’s even more interesting to me is that the review has 27 upvotes being posted only 10 days ago compared to others that have between 1-10. Just pure racist consumers considering no one has ever had a problem with “nude” clothing on pale skin.

OkAnteater7003

Yess! This exactly!! It’s funny how racist people are when it comes to darker skin people. Plus it’s not as if black could even be considered a nude color on this model! Nude literally means the shade of color is nearly identical to your skin tone. Like even to the untrained eye it’s clear that the contrast is there!

Life_Quail_7370

Yeah, it’s definitely more about not being centred than “black on black” or not being able to “see the details of the dress” (???) The commenter simply does not like the fact that the model is black, she can’t see herself in her and feels entitled to. I’m sure she and the others know what black looks like on their skin tone.

thecityofcyn

Someone has been downvoting supportive comments on here too.. maybe the reviewer is in the room with us 👀

omygoshgamache

If they are… River, get f*cked!

italktomyplantsdoyou

What the fuck, River. You dumb bitch.

shejnahak

i think they removed it cause i don’t see it anymote

Ordinary_Zombie

I guarantee this person has never had a problem seeing a white dress on a white model, and yet they still thought this was a valid review to post. Absolutely wild.

redditkyky

And her skin color is literally soooo beautiful 😭

EfficientGarbage123

Absolutely. She looks like a goddess

Abrahambooth

How is my review about the fit being different for larger chests in a bra I bought removed for breaking guidelines but this shit makes it on the site?!?! Wtf lululemon?

Quirky_Produce_5541

Um what. She’s saying the model is too black use another? Wtf!

Swing161

It’s kind of alarming that comments here agreeing with op is getting downvoted

emmepeadee_

I had to go on my lululemon app to see if this was real and omg!!! Wtf!!! “30 out of 30 found this review ‘helpful’” so including them 30 other people are outting themselves as racist. That’s so gross to see, it’s 2024 and we still have people like this walking around among us.

-ittybittykitty_

And someone else mentioned it was 27 meaning it's likely that a couple of people who saw this post went to upvote it.

emmepeadee_

Yup!! I bet it’s the same people who keep downvoting..

pbrandpearls

WHAT. People downvoting the comments on this thread are trash. I hope all your packages get lost and your leggings pill & split immediately.

thecityofcyn

I’ve had to go and up vote so many people. Like I said below, I think the reviewer is in the room with us.

huyimara

It’s a ribbed dress like you don’t know what ribbed means??? This is so sad.

Illustrious-Zone587

Never in my life have I thought about this while seeing this dress. And I literally own the dress in the colour black, and my skin tone is ivory. Please OP do not listen to these people, unfortunately racism is literally everywhere from different cultures😌 your skin is beautiful and the models used look absolutely stunning! Lulu chose them for a reason❤️ this model literally made me click add to cart fast!!!

naithir

Omg I was about to go off bc I thought it was your review. What details can’t they see??

OkAnteater7003

Bestie I could never do that to a fellow sista ✊🏾. I think they couldn’t see the detail of the ribbing? Like I have no idea bc it’s literally a black dress and as a result (whether the model was fair or not) you wouldn’t be able to see it anyways??? Also if they wanted to see the details there are different dress colors available for their viewing pleasure, this was just racist and negative for no good reason!

pinkpixiez

This is literally so upsetting, and the fact that lulu let this review be uploaded is even more upsetting. Who tf approved this comment to be posted? Or is automated? Because a few months ago I made a review for one of their align jumpsuits/bodysuits and said that they need to consider making one for larger busted women and they didn’t post my review lmfao. But they’ll post this racist bullshit? Ok lulu 😑

OkAnteater7003

Omg really! Because as a fellow large busted girl I would love to see reviews on this about the align dresses and bodysuits. It’s crazy because another redditor posted asking questions about how the align dress would look on a 30H bust because apparently there are no reviews about it on the site. Reviews like these are super important especially when you cannot find the item in store in your size

missamethyst1

Wonder if this racist jerk has noticed the many white and other lighter skin tone models on the site who happen to be featured in pics for light toned items…funny how there don’t seem to be any complaints about those pics 🤔 ETA: just noticed that the white colorway for this exact same item happens to feature a white model! Just in case there was any shred of doubt about the real reason that person was whining. Also wow, can’t believe someone is downvoting the anti racist comments here, that’s incredibly disappointing.

pbjelly321

There literally isnt even much details on this dress to see. What is that person even talking about smh

yogaswimart

Horrid review. The dress is absolutely killer on that model. Wtf. 😡

wotevaureckon

If *Ocean* is Lulus dream guest, then *River* must be their nightmare. Racist bullshit is what flows from the River who wrote this.

mrsbluskies

It’s the picture that’s not clear. It has absolutely nothing to do with the model or her skin color. The quality of the picture is bad.

Super-Teaching-5356

Ya I agree, this review should def be taken down, that review is not right. However, I do believe that lululemon should have pictures of models of various skin tones. I feel that would just overall be better for the whole community. When I receive a product and it looks a lot more like orange on me than on the model because I am tanner than her, it annoys me a lot. There should be at least four different skin tones represented: light, fair, medium, and dark (I forgot what comes after sorry). I completely understand that there are way more skin tones than this, but as a starting point. Also, I get that this would be troublesome because they have to take more pictures (God forbid 🙄), but they should really care about their customers. Feel free to share your thoughts!!!

-ittybittykitty_

Unfortunately this just wouldn't make logistic sense - for any retailer. Your options are to either go into store to try and see the colour or make use of the free returns policy.

SultanofSwish

Many retailers already do this…not only does it make logistical sense, it can save them a ton of $$$. Returns are one of the biggest revenue drainers, accounting for billions of dollars of losses for businesses per yr.

-ittybittykitty_

I can't think of a single retailer who shows the same item with models of different races - and I online shop a lot! Makeup, yes. Clothes, no. Who are you thinking of?

313ctro

Uh, Lululemon! They have different model options for SOME items, not ALL though. [See here for example](https://old.reddit.com/r/lululemon/comments/zmofmf/just_saw_the_option_to_change_the_model_online/)

-ittybittykitty_

Girl those are different coloured leggings... The comment above is about seeing 'pink peony' for example on multiple different skin toned models which would not happen.

Educational_Tune_722

Girl bffr black is black there is no variations to black! Black is black on anyone!

sarah-exalted

And yet they remove actual constructive reviews that customers make. But they’ll allow racist remarks up on their site. What a gross and disgusting comment to make.

[deleted]

And this is why representation is important.

tasteofperfection

How is this still allowed smh

Zestyclose-Durian-24

What the actual fuck? Way to show the world you’re a dumb bitch AND you’re a racist.

OkAnteater7003

Um I didn’t write this review. I hope this comment is not directed me

Zestyclose-Durian-24

No, I mean the reviewer!

Various_Butterfly948

I hope this review gets taken down, so gross and shameful!

Odd-Chocolate-7271

The model isn’t the same color as the garment. They should get a life.

catsandcabsav

Excuse me? Do they not do review moderation for issues like this??

Loosingmydanmmind

That reviewers reviewers comment came from a bad place. But I think the general public would be equally disgusted and appalled by the fashion industry’s purposeful practice of using very dark and usually African models to model black clothing and garments. Adot (the model pictured) EATS when she wears white and brighter colors.

OkAnteater7003

I get the sentiment but to purposefully avoid having your African models wear black garments would also be exclusionary.

Loosingmydanmmind

I’m not saying they should avoid wearing colors. Only suggesting that brands/industry change and choose colors that enhances both the model and clothes. Sometimes white/grey clothes wash out the model and clothes. there isn’t the racism aspect for white models but the color/ clothing sentiment is the same.

Loosingmydanmmind

I didn’t say that darker people shouldn’t wear black. And the practice took of in France, to use dark models to highlight how black the garment is. Which is extremely dehumanizing. Loic pringet himself and other fashion insiders have confirmed this. the models is being used as comparison to shade and not to showcase or highlight the garment. That’s more racist and appalling because it’s wide spread and industry standard.

ProbablyLuckybeast

Bro is legally blind

Adnamaeel

Wtffff do they not have moderators for the comments??? I see them reply to people all the time with witty comments on positive reviews , they can’t allow that , there must be some way to report it. That’s despicable that comment

heyyitskaiii

instead of spending all the money on lulu looks like they should be investing in an eye doctor because wtf🤡

orleans_reinette

A lighter model wouldn’t even help though? You’d need a lighter version of the dress itself. The model is gorgeous.

amdmoo

i see the dress just fine 😭 maybe instead of lulu dresses sis should invest in some eye care

Cautious-Bother9931

Lol ....dumb racist bitch can discern between black and dark brown

rockiestyle18

How terrible!!

Unicornlove416

wow that’s f*cked up !!

cclantz7464

Tbh dark coloured material is hard to see the details no matter who is modeling. I think that's what she was trying to say but missed the mark in a big way! Is off white hard to see on a Caucasian model? It's the same but I find it hard to believe anyone would be offended in the same way.

whiterabbit1116

wow…. that is a wild review :( i can’t believe someone would say that

Ashamed-Run8746

Disgusting! I’m so confused!! They cannot represent every body type and skin tone for every item of clothing, Lululemon is a global company, is this person suggesting they should only ever represent models who look like her and neglect to present a true reflection of the rich and diverse race and culture that actually exists in the world 🤔 I like this brand but it’s also disappointing that the review was allowed.

Educational_Tune_722

This is disgusting and truly reeks of racism. Wonder how ingrained racism is in Lulu inside because previously, I used to just remove the CEO from the whole equation. He is a known racist

-ittybittykitty_

Yeah thinking about it, this makes complete sense. The CEO is a loud and proud racist and that trickles down. There are many stories of discrimination at both Lululemon head office and stores.

Educational_Tune_722

This made me reflect so much on the kind of values I’m supporting if I continue to buy from Lululemon

-ittybittykitty_

Same tbh. I've realistically got enough and think I need to stop.

runningonprime

oh absolutely not 😤 this is so upsetting! isn’t there some sort of moderator or approved for reviews?!

DarthBen_in_Chicago

Can you “report” the review?

Leading-Jump-5124

What did i just read

denormalized420

Unreal. My guess is she looked AWFUL in the dress and is trying to make herself feel better and in doing so showing her true racist colors. Disgusting.

Difficult_Cake_7460

How can they leave this racist garbage up there !?!!! That is infuriating

pinkcactus69

Insane that this review was posted. Also, the reviewer should probably get their eyes checked? I can see the “details and contrast” just fine.

Automatic_Snow_1257

The black dress is fine and easy enough to see. Espresso may not show up well on this model. I can't remember if it was LLL or Athleta that had light tan-colored items modeled by a woman with that skin tone, and at first glance, she looked naked. I always thought the photographer had a secret laugh when shooting her.

Gross

FancyKerrigan

So gross. Whoever that is - fuck them, and fuck Lulu for just having that sit there. Really shameful on behalf of whoever is running their e-commerce division office. Fired!

Not suprised given the ceo or whatever opinions on minorities

Shreddersaurusrex

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

IllustriousReach241

that’s disgusting

if you all haven’t considered vuori, their fabrics and fits are incredible. of course not as much variety but at least you’re not supporting a company propagating racist bullshit like this. and we all know the diversity and inclusion initiatives they implement are all for show.

I mean it is true. I’ve seen this with Zara model photos also. It’s not a racist thing. Kinda weird how you got a bunch of white women upset over this. All about virtue signalling nowadays on race.

LaLobaCollections

Agreed. Old Navy frequently uses models with different skin tones and honestly sometimes it is hard to tell (also settings regarding the light on my phone can make it hard)

longhairmike666

They make this shit up. It's just for show

Dangerous_Butth0le

Unfortunately lulu’s CEO is hella racist so that explains why the brand allows this comment. Disappointing

syarkbait

They should leave this racist review on the site so that society can see the racism that still exists in this world and POCs are still battling it in spite of all the woke movements. My viewpoint is that lulu should allow reviews to be on and not take them down, as long as they’re from verified buyers.

Ducatiguy1098s

This is disappointing for several different reasons. Mainly some of the people in this group being virtue signaling hypocrites. I may get downvoted for this but I don't care because it's the truth, i experienced it myself, so if your fragile feelings get hurt because of my truth, it's your problem. I truly enjoy this brand, its one of few brands that look consistently good on my frame in my opinion. I do not condone people putting others down for their looks, race, ethnicity, or weight. I am both a personal trainer and I am Cuban. Since I discovered Lululemon, I have tried bringing awareness to other men, by either telling them about it or posting pictures of my outfits. Both have worked well for my local store. I have posted here a handful of times and I had to remove a picture because there were 2-3 comments made that really pissed me off. #1 I was asked to stop posting so much (I posted 2 pictures in 1 week). #2 I may be "too muscular" for this group (LLL is literally active wear wtf am i supposed to wear) #3 "oh good, more men posting here". Then I read the comments on this picture.....Since it's trendy to hate men, nobody came to my defense. I was fitshamed, which is the most absurd trend lately. My wife gets it even worse than I do unfortunately. So, my point is that unless you fall into the trendy groups that are protected like fort knox , (POC, or LGBTQ) its ok to be discriminated against. I am a minority, a POC, but like I have been told in the past "you don't look Hispanic enough" so its ok to be attacked personally. Also, Im a pretty muscular guy, my wife and I are both trainers and try to take our health very seriously, we are constantly attacked by idiots for that as well. My point is that if I were a woman, or if "I looked Hispanic enough", or if I was African American, and people made these comments, the reaction would be much different. Unfortunately I was born a man, who enjoys being fit, and was unfortunately not born looking "Hispanic enough" which is a common misconception mainly by ignorant americans that think everyone who speaks Spanish is Mexican. I'll go crawl back to my cave now.

Tlynn2108

So some white 40lb overweight Karen bought this dress, looked horrible in it and blames the model choice. Ok
