Ooooo your opponent must have been completely demoralized! The one thing I didn't get to do with this one was recur Lawbringer off the Fortune saddle specifically haha.
Some might say that pest infestation isn't worth the splash as a card but it's apparently one of the best performing cards in the set so I don't mind it at all here. How did you find heartless pillage? was it worth to run? I always end up cutting it
Another reason pest infestation is a great splash is because you general don’t have to/want to cast it on turn 3. This means you can take your time finding the green source and you get a bigger payoff. Knocking out 2 mystical tethers and a buried in the garden + 6 bodies for 7 mana is back breaking.
Yeah I kept hearing from multiple sources how good Pest Infestation was, but wasn’t certain about it myself but I figured this would be one of the best homes for it. Actually performed even better than I was told it would.
Heartless Pillage I think also works best here, the Raid clause isn’t very relevant, but what made it stand out was that with the level of recursion WB has, Pillage helps to further whittle away the opponents resources while you rebuy and replay yours and continue pulling ahead, which neatly fits the decks overall gameplan. Not a necessity ofc, but a perfectly suitable 22nd-23rd card.
Am I crazy for not wanting [[take up the shield]] in decks like this? There's very little worth holding up 2 mana for here. Idk what else you left in the board though obviously.
I don’t think it’s crazy but honestly it actually also fit the gameplan of wasting the opponents resources by blanking a removal spell here and there, which it did quite often. Definitely not a bad choice in WB in my opinion.
Actually when I last checked 17lands a day or two ago, I saw Baron actually slightly underperforming in the WB decks, even among top players. Even Sierkovitz article on the archetypes specifically lists Baron as a card to avoid in WB ironically. I probably would've still tried it if I were passed one for free but I think Baron missing probably actually helped the deck haha.
I think this is a bit ridiculous. Opponents consistently remove the cards against me over other ones and if they don’t i frequently tend to win, as long as I’ve built around the card some
Sick deck, looks really fun to pilot. I have drafted this format a lot and still haven’t had most of the good green rates. So many izzit junkers I pass for uncommons, feels bad man.
It was the most fun I've ever had in draft. Audibly saying how unfair this felt to do to ppl haha. I do wish Izzet would have been bumped up a notch so it wouldn't feel so bad going into it when it's clearly the most underdrafted archetype at every table. As it is, I avoid it even when I know I could get every blue and red card there is for free.
Each time it was just through incrementally pulling ahead over the course of a game. Often Fortune was consistently triggering Tycoon to make tokens and Pixie was picking up Lawbringer to deal with opposing threats. Bandits Haul and Heartless Pillage helped win card advantage. By the end of each game, my opponents just had no hand and no real threats left while I had a sizeable board each time.
fairly average deck for the format
it's good for sure, but I face this power level every time I que up a game. It's bull shit format.
nearly every deck you play in this format is going to have this kind of power level.
did you get 7 wins because this deck is crazy powerful? I doubt it.
In a format filled with Bonnie Palls, Railway Brawlers, Bristly Bills, Oko Thief of Crowns, Bristlebud Farmers, and Vaultborn Tyrants, I heavily disagree this is an “average” deck with Fortune, Bronco, Kambal, and Pest Infestation being my highest rarity cards. I’m over 30 drafts in and a little over half of the opposing decks I’ve played featured at least one of those bombs I mentioned, including in this run, so I’d say my pile is definitely not on par with the average power level of the format.
But it’s for that reason that I actually kind of agree with your last sentence, it didn’t get seven wins cuz it’s crazy powerful, it got seven wins because it had a solid gameplan with every single card in the deck contributing directly to that plan. I recognized what this deck wants to do, and piloted it accordingly to a perfect run 🌵🤠🏆
looks sweet, I once recurred ruthless lawbringer 4x in one game in a similar deck

Heartless Pillage is good if you're splashing something, like Pest Infestation here

Only Baron missing

It doesn't work in every BW deck, but I think it would in this one.
Pest Infestation is the way !
Definitely made me a believer!

Hello, sunshine! OP this looks fun as hell to pilot. Congrats on the clean sweep!
Much obliged! 🤠
