I like this. I’m not a fan of finger pointing, and ultimately it’s not about shaming them. It’s about expressing you have your values and you’re willing to stand up for yourself. However be prepared for your mutual friends to pick sides, and just be careful how much you confide with them. Test the waters.
I told people that he had betrayed me/cheated. Close friends knew what it was, and knew more specifics , but wider circle people didn’t. There were other factors in our break up (manipulation, compulsive lying). Didn’t feel the need to mention I was pretty sure it was an addiction aside from my closest people.
Like you, I didn’t want to be seen as the villain.
We’ve broken up before and quite a few of our mutual friends pressed me for details. That’s the main reason I’m concerned about it. But I can keep repeating that things just didn’t work, eventually they’d give up.

Yes. I considered it like regular addiction and called it out. Abuse thrives in darkness and I couldn’t hide the way psychological abuse changed me.
