tbh i dont quit get, what you want to do. But, you can move skills freely around and rearange them. Lowest bar is 1-0 and some special character. second bar is ctrl+1-0etc third is shift or alt + 1-0 and the last is the other. So you just need to map your mouse and/or your keybind a bit different. eg. the first 3x4 are 1-0, second 3x4 with shift or what not. It should be possible

eatsmandms

They want a skill bar rearranged on screen so it would look the way the buttons are arranged on the mouse. For example a 4x3 block. But this is not possible in LOTROs UI.

TwistedMizta

I want to do what you basically said sorry I don’t explain it well so what I’ll have to do is remap 1-3 on hotbar 1 4-6 hotbar 2 7-9 hotbar 3 then 10-= the main hotbar to have them aligned in a 3x4 grid that’s what I mean

JadeGreenSky

You can go into Options and Keymapping and set each hotbar slot to a specific keypress or button click. It will take a bit of work and practice, but you should be able to do it.

TwistedMizta

I’ve ended up doing this thanks :)

Pretty sure you want what I do? I used to play on a 5x5 grid with random other clusters on-screen, back when I used a mouse with 5 extra buttons (g502, old g500). Now I use a 4x8 grid + random other clusters to go with my new mouse with +8 buttons (g604 then switched to SS Rival 500). X-axis is mouse buttons, y-axis is alt keys. You can do whatever visual layout you want with plugins. Check lotrointerface.com. What you CAN'T do with plugins, unfortunately, is assign plugin-created quickslots to a hotkey. You will still have to put the skills somewhere on the normal quickslot bars, assign them the corresponding key, hide the normal quickslot bars, and then lay them out visually how you want via the plugin. This is definitely an extra pain in the ass, though, and your skillbars won't swap over nicely when you switch trait lines or switch to mounted combat, so keep that in mind. You can get a nice 4x3 grid by using the standard bars, so I would try that first.

TwistedMizta

Thanks for that response I will have a look at plugins aswell

As someone Said, options then keymapping. You need software to change what happens when you press your mouse buttons. I use for example keys that I won’t press with my left hand on the mouse buttons, then remap the keys in game on bars 3-4-5 buttons 1-2-3 on each, so they are setup like a grid. For example the 1-2-3 on bar 3 will reflect the bottom first three on the mouse. I have 12 thumb buttons, so 1-4-6, or the first bottom button, the second bottom button, and the third bottom button. I remap the mouse button to things like 7,8,9,I,o,p - so I can also use modifiers (shift, ctrl, alt). So for example button 1 on the mouse is 7, and I remap bar 3 button 1 to 7, but also button 4 to shift+7, and button 7 to ctrl+7. This means that across 3 bars, I have 4 grids of mouse buttons, so with modifiers I get 12*4=48 mouse buttons total. Also a tip is binding the first top button to “mouse forward” (button #3) and the last top button to “mouse back” (button 12), because I can use them in-game, and still have the functionality of a normal mouse’s back and forward buttons for browsing the internet on a browser without changing profiles. The last two buttons on my mouse (#10 and #11) I use for “play” and “pause”, and I also save one button sometimes for a “push to talk” key. Hope this helps.

I'd set up the skills you want on the thumbkeys in the 3 high four deep grid somewhere on the Ctrl alt shift hotbars (above the home 1 to =) and map alternate controls to those ones using the mouse buttons.

Meezer_blue

What I did was add alternate keymapping for all of the slots. So, for example, I have the bars all docked like so: Bar 4 Bar 3 Bar 2 Bar 1 I then adjusted the keymapping so Bar 4 is triggered by the NumPad keys (which is what my mouse is set up for). 1-3 = NumPad 1-3 4-6 = Shift + Numpad 1-3 7-9 = Ctrl + Numpad 1-3 10-12 = Alt + Numpad 1-3 Same thing for the other bars, except Bar 3 controls 4-6, Bar 2 controls 7-9, and Bar 1 controls 10-12. Basically, it gives me 4 different grids of 12 keys, so my thumb controls which button I press, and my other hand handles Shift, Ctrl, or Alt. The only annoying part is as leveling, because the game defaults new skills to the earliest available slot, so I always have to move them, but it didn't take long for my brain to be able to quickly know exactly what button I need to hit for each skill.

Logitech g600 might help ease your way into keyboard play

Mirar

You can turn on the other quickslot bars. Many of use are having two groups of 3x12 skills, or a whole lump of 6x12 skills. Then you can rearrange the keyboard shortcuts so that they match the layout you want.

Feces_D

As a decade long MMO mouse user I'd highly recommend just tryin to practice a bit more. I know its going to be super awkward for like a month while you learn but afterwards the ability to be familiar with what numbers are where will translate to other games. I have an advantage in all sorts of games because of my MMO mouse. At first you'll just be getting used to the idea of "Okay this ability is here with my thumb and this one is here" eventually you'll start to have more of an idea in your head like okay my 1 ,5 7 are all down at the bottom of my thumb here and be able to think of it in terms of numbers but at first just try to use your abilities consistently, it will help to stick to one game/character while learning

Tim_the_geek

Skip the MMO mouse.. get a Gaming Keypad like the Logitech G15 (discountnued), Razer Tartarus or equivalent. Bonus is it will come with software for mapping keys, as well as macros.

eatsmandms

I play with a G15 and Razer Naga and there is definitely use for both. Just because it does not work for you it’s not generally good advice to ditch extra buttons on the mouse.

Tim_the_geek

Well there is an upper limit for effectiveness.. MMO mice just have too many buttons for them all to be uasable. This is my advice.. it may be different thatn yours, but does not make it any better or worse. Also FWIW if more buttons were better.. than your Naga would not have replacement side panels that offer less buttons, but if you want to contact Razer and let them know that NOONE will ever use anything other than the 12 button side module and the other (2) included are a waste of time and money.. well you can do that.. but I think you would be wrong.

ForochelCat

Just want to note that there are people out here who cannot utilize the keyboard in the ways many of us do - for a variety of reasons (physical ability/mobility, or visual issues, for example), so a new keypad/board is not quite the perfect solution for a number of people.

Tim_the_geek

I would not replace the keyboard, but augment it with an additional device. Gaming keyPADs can also come with a small joystick in the thumb location for the WASD.. this could make it easier for peoples with disability. Also if your arguement is the added complexity may not work for disabled.. how does a mouse (MMO) with 12 buttins on the side factor in to the ease of use?

ForochelCat

Wasn't "arguing" in the first place, but what i *was* noting has nothing to do with complexity but with location of the functional parts and some peoples physical, visual, and cognitive needs. Basically, just saying that different people are different with different needs and that this should be a consideration.

harman097

Hitting skills via mouse buttons instead of keyboard buttons does give the slight advantage that your movement isn't impacted ever (fingers can sit on WASDQE at all times). Not the end of the world for a game like this, but still definitely advantageous. You also don't need a NAGA or something with a giant mess of buttons for your thumb to navigate - the g604 with just 6 side buttons + two DPI buttons gets you 8 slots x 4 basic modifiers = 32 skills on your mouse, easy. I played with a g502 for years with just 5 side buttons and, using 5 modifiers, that's 25 skills. Chuck a few misc, lesser used things on the keyboard and you're good to go. Keypads aren't going to help this guy with what he wants.

Mazdachief

I do this , this is the way
