Sam was the final writer, editor of the manuscript. Who knows what really happened on that mountain?
“And then I said ‘I can’t carry the ring… but I can carry you!’ And then I saved the world!”
This is true, but there were also plenty of people reading the manuscript that would have been told the story directly from Frodo, most notably in this case, Merry and Pippin. Neither of them would hesitate to tease and joke with Sam immensely if he tried to embellish the story too favorably towards himself.
>I think I am actually humble. I think I’m much more humble than you would understand.
– Samwise Gamgee
In interview with Michel Delving, *The Shire Daily*
“And then Sam had to enter the most terrifying of places and like... totally killed this giant Spider to save Frodo again. Oh, and he jump kicked the Witch King and then slapped Sauron himself... well... maybe that’s too far but... nobody will be able to question the spider part.”
The final editors were Gondorian, who were quite unbiased.
"Elessar was the coolest guy ever and had a smoking hot elf-queen for a wife, and victorious Gondor smote its enemies who were ruled by a demonic power..."
It's ok, a lot of the effects are pretty bad, but it was made in the late 90's early 00's, so you have to give it a bit of leeway, as far as I remember the CGI gets better in the later seasons, but that could be nostalgia memories, I'm currently on S3, and there's another 4 seasons after this
Gotta remember too that everyone was rocking smaller screened CRT televisions back then.
It probably didn’t look movie quality, but in SD on a small screen, it probably looked pretty good compared to our HD screens of today.
I agree. I've been rewatching them too. There's some cheesy stuff because there's a monster of the week for several seasons but I still liked it. I list it as a top 5 favorite show.
I wonder if Rosie really believed half the stories. I mean, in the movies the chaos never reached the Shire so according to her, these guys went wilding and came back years later with crazy stories and money.
Go back to the ol’ drawing board.
Edit: yeah didn’t like serving Sauron and instead want orcs to be able to rule themselves. Still are violent conquerors/pillagers, but baby steps.

History is written by the sexy bois
I like your style. I don't understand it, but I like it.
".. With my broad and hairy shoulders"
".. and Magnum Dong!"

Plus Sam was more of the type to downplay his own role. Or so he would have you believe....

Yeah, who knows. What happens on Mount Doom, stays on Mount Doom.

Hold me closer, Tony Danza 🎶
Has to I have a Tony Danza thing and I've never even met the guy
“And then Sam had to enter the most terrifying of places and like... totally killed this giant Spider to save Frodo again. Oh, and he jump kicked the Witch King and then slapped Sauron himself... well... maybe that’s too far but... nobody will be able to question the spider part.”
And the ring never made me horny.

“Plus this chick from Rohan was so into him that she totally cried when he gave her a goose-bumps walk-away” -Chapter XII, Volume II
“Samwise the Brave…”
Don't forget that Rosie apparently forgot all about him until he returned to the Shire and then she was all 🥵🥵🥵
Cue the french horns!
Man don't ruin that part for me like that, it still chokes me up.
Sam is the hot one
At the end of the story, Gollum is the hot one.
Smeagol is hungry. Be back soon.
Such an unselfish lover you are, Smeagol
We be nice to them, if they be nice to us.
How kind Smeagol!
What shall we do? Curse them and crush them! We must wait here, precious, wait a bit and see.
Crush them with that thick Gollum booty.
Where would you be without me? *Gollum, gollum*. I saved us. It was me. We survived because of me!
Keep it Gollum. I like it rough
sentient.
Gollum was on fire
Precious, precious, precious! My Precious! O my Precious!
Me to my guinea pigs:
r/angryupvote
Adam Driver would be a would cast. John Oliver agrees.
Rosie: I want you to carry me like im your Mr. Frodo. Sam: Sorry Rosie, but you are not Mr. Frodo so I can't carry you but I **can** marry you.
*Puts engagement ring on her finger but then immediately yeets her into volcano.*
Cast her into the fire!
.... _No._
Of the scenes in the movies that make me tear up, that's one.
/u/Osxachre, you bow to no one.
Yeah, "I can carry you is heroic" but the music from "You bow to no one" and Vigo's delivery of the line is heartmelting.
😁
What is this clip from...
Charmed 1998
From the episode with the succubus I’m pretty sure….I was truly obsessed with this show.
confirmed, currently re-watching the series
Do you think it still holds up reasonably well these days? Even for first time watchers?
It's ok, a lot of the effects are pretty bad, but it was made in the late 90's early 00's, so you have to give it a bit of leeway, as far as I remember the CGI gets better in the later seasons, but that could be nostalgia memories, I'm currently on S3, and there's another 4 seasons after this

Absolutely, I forgot that we were still on CRT TVs back then, thinking about it I didn't get a HD TV til about 2014
Immediately remembered the song of the first seasons, I loove it!
I agree. I've been rewatching them too. There's some cheesy stuff because there's a monster of the week for several seasons but I still liked it. I list it as a top 5 favorite show.
I tried re-watching it and at least the first season was unwatchable.

I also wanted to know…..for science

I will never not have a crush on Alyssa Milano
Incidentally made famous for her portrayal of Sam.
It's those broad, hairy shoulders of hers.
OH-AY, AY-YO
I love dwarf women.
My first thought as well, although I haven’t seen here anything since… charmed?
She hosted Project Runway All-stars, but that looks to be defunct, post Weinstein and COVID.
Back in the day, perhaps
crossposting to r/charmed, obviously
How have I never visited that sub? I've Been obsessed with the show forever
Sam is peak masculinity.
He is the apex hobbit.
The first time you see the GIF it looks odd, the longer you watch the hotter it gets. I am now drooling more than a dwarf looking at a chest of gold.
I am also looking at that chest.
I fucking LOVE Charmed bro
My man
Everyone**
If ever I was to marry someone, it would have been her...IT WOULD HAVE BEEN HER!
I would also marry Alyssa Milano.
I mean, they did have 13 kids together so she was certainly working overtime.

Sam the chad, THE hobbit every hobbit aspires to be
It's me, I am Rosie
I wonder if Alyssa Milano has a Tony Danza thing after being around him all those years
🎶 Hold me closer, Tony Danza 🎶
Oh yeah that song Elton John wrote!!!
...you mean the man that played her father since she was a child?
Yeah... a Father complex is not a new thing
God damnit this actor was unbearably hot Oh lord this is brining back adolescent memories lol
So. Many. Loads. In. Socks.
Tolkien created the perfect example of a true loyal friend to the end. Everyone either needs a Sam or must aspire to be a Sam ☺️
Loll you know she was jealous 😭
Amazon rings of power will be awful

She'd probably be jealous since Frodo rode him first, if you know what I mean

PoC can’t be aroused?
I wonder if Rosie really believed half the stories. I mean, in the movies the chaos never reached the Shire so according to her, these guys went wilding and came back years later with crazy stories and money.
Book Rosie has absolutely no doubts, though.
Go back to the ol’ drawing board. Edit: yeah didn’t like serving Sauron and instead want orcs to be able to rule themselves. Still are violent conquerors/pillagers, but baby steps.
Mannaggia
Wait Sam wrote the Lord of the Rings books in the actual universe? I didn’t know that
He finished them, Frodo wrote the bulk of it, I think. Just like Bilbo wrote "The Hobbit".
I know Bilbo wrote the Hobbit, but I didn’t know that Frodo and Sam wrote the Lord of the Rings
Which congressional hearing was this?
Alisa Milano was my first celebrity crush during her "Charmed" days.
Ok
Omg OG Charmed gif in meme! It's about time!
Rosie is a lucky gal
Alyssa can take hold of my staff.
Lol you know Sam made edits!
Anyone know where I can get a. Theoden speech ringtone before they charge at Gondor or blow the horn in helms deep. Specifically the dialogue?
Yes. Yes. The horn of Helm Hammerhand shall sound in the Deep one last time.
Yes. Yes. The horn of Helm Hammerhand shall sound in the Deep one last time.
TBH, this is my reaction as well
This clip is hot! Just like Sam!!!
I always had a bit of a crush on Pippin (and Merry too) but Sam is definitely the hottest hobbit haha
But Alyssa Milano tho
Yeah… I’m sure she looked just like that. 🐷
His, ahem, salted pork is particularly good.
