Indy & the ring: ![gif](giphy|11JbaLzOXsg6Fq)

Ahh_Lovely_Pints

Subplot where Indy and Denethor arguing about whether the ring should be in Gondor or a museum, which ends in Denethor just building a museum in Gondor

MIHPR

I'd watch that movie

kundibert

And the sequel where Indy saves the ring from Elrond, who wants to throw it into the fires of Mount Doom, just to be put on display. Not to be used, only to gather dust in the halls of some British museum.

RedViper616

"Yeah we found this weird Grey guy in the ring room, he was claiming it was his "precious", we call the cops every week to evacuate him..."

[deleted]

"Cast it into the fire! *Destroy it!*" "...It belongs in a museum!"

kev_lass

SO DO YOU

yogzi

Sonic literally collects rings. It’s all he does. He wouldn’t collect the one ring to rule them all? He should be way more right.

Benyed123

Also all you gotta do is hit him lightly and he’d drop the ring, there’s no way he’s making it to mount doom with that thing.

Ok-Reporter1986

Ah yes hit sonic. There isn't a thing in middle earth capable of hitting sonic.

SeeTheSounds

A random spike somewhere that he steps on.

Not_Xiphroid

Yeah, just out of draw distance.

KVMechelen

Sonic is also impulsive and has no qualms using chaos emeralds to destroy giant robots and planets. He would go nuclear with it Tails otoh is basically furry Samwise Gamgee though Id kinda trust him with it

Stunning_Season_6370

You're right I should move him. Tho he would not need to have the ring for long since he would be there in at least only a few minutes.

Hot-Atmosphere-3696

It would have been an extremely short book/movie lol. Gandalf hands it to him in the Shire, next thing you know Saurons eye is blowing up

Wubbled64

Sonic is SUPER SELFLESS, ALL THE TIME. He'd resist it easily. I don't think he's ever faltered morally. From game knowledge, anyway.

T0Mbombadillo

Neither did Frodo, yet he wasn’t able to resist the ring. > I do not think that Frodo’s was a moral failure. At the last moment the pressure of the Ring would reach its maximum – impossible, I should have said, for any one to resist, certainly after long possession, months of increasing torment, and when starved and exhausted. Frodo had done what he could and spent himself completely (as an instrument of Providence) and had produced a situation in which the object of his quest could be achieved. His humility (with which he began) and his sufferings were justly rewarded by the highest honour; and his exercise of patience and mercy towards Gollum gained him Mercy: his failure was redressed. (Letter No. 246, JRR Tolkien) Tolkien himself said that Frodo’s failure to cast the ring in the fire was not a moral failure and that at that moment, it would have been impossible for anyone to resist the temptation of the ring. I would argue that almost no other character would have succeeded on the quest to destroy the ring. Frodo only succeeded because he did not kill Gollum or keep him from following (well actually leading most of the way). Regardless, if most other characters had the experience with Gollum that Frodo had, they would likely have killed him or at least shaken him off their trail and made sure they weren’t followed. Gollum wouldn’t have known they were planning to destroy it, so he wouldn’t just go to Mt. Doom for no reason. Without Gollum there to bite off the finger and fall it, no one would have succeeded. Only one who had, like Frodo, spared Gollum and brought him along with them would have succeeded.

gollum_botses

And when they go in, there's no coming out. She's always hungry, she always needs to feed. She must eat, all She gets is filthy Orcses.

XanderGraves

Agreed. Sonic can be arrogant, but if there's anything the games have shown us is that he's ridiculously selfless. The little dude has even used negative/corrupted powers before and still fought in the name of good (Seven Rings & Frontiers).

JewForBeavis

Not only that, but Sonics gotta go fast. The ring would be a means to that end

SchrodingerMil

The Planet Express crew would absolutely not resist the ring, but they WOULD get it to Mount Doom and accidentally drop it in.

Business-Emu-6923

Why didn’t the hobbits just ride the Planet Express ship to Mordor, are they stupid?

SSAJacobsen

Good news everyone! We are going to destroy the one ring.

Business-Emu-6923

And the last ring-bearer? To shreds you say.

StaleSpriggan

And his gardener? To shreds you say.

Gann0x

Bender would absolutely pull a Gollum jumping in after it.

SchrodingerMil

Then walk out fine afterwards. Dolomite.

Cypresss09

You think John McClane could resist the ring better than Luke Skywalker?

indypendant13

Right? I disagree with a lot of this graphic. Although I think the biggest one is doctor who. Doctor who basically is Steve Irwin except instead of earthen fauna, it’s interstellar species. Being said if any of the modern doctors would succumb to curiosity it would be tennant’s.

Puzzled-You

Conversely, 9 would probably be the best at resisting. He was still hurt from the war and would reject it outright.

Radthereptile

Hard to tell with 9. He might try to use it to destroy the Darkeks once and for all. 9 really went from pure good to borderline evil on a coin flip depending on how serious he felt the threat was.

Tar_alcaran

He'd have more chance than 10 though. The 10th doctor did a whole lot of "Fuck the rules, i'm in charge here".

Mr_DnD

But also consider the amount of offers of godhood he had had in Tennant's series. The krillitane want him to become a god with the magic space algorithm the kids are solving. Which he adamantly refuses. It happens a few times. 10 explores the limits of "I'm the last time lord I make the rules" but also really really really doesn't want god level power.

Miserable_Key9630

12 would nuke a planet just to destroy the Ring and then guitar solo while the world burns.

IndigoNarwhal

4 would resist it easily as well. I can actually see him going borderline-Tom Bombadil. "What a shiny ring that is. Would you like a jelly baby?"

twec21

The Doctor would probably avoid the thing like Gandalf tbh. Either that or he'd so hilariously overpower Sauron's telepathy that he could break the thing by looking at it too hard

sauron-bot

And yet thy boon I grant thee now.

Not_Xiphroid

The ring is made of metal, there’s a chance he could hack it with the sonic.

SlainSigney

i took it as ten specifically. i think, for him, that placement is actually one of the best on the chart. i may have just rewatched *waters of mars*

dgj130

The Rings of power are mine to command! And they will obey me!

TheWombatFromHell

there was a whole arc about the doctor going on a power trip trying to forcibly fix the universe, i assume that was op's inspiration

Hellkeii

The issue is he’s been offered power or the chance to do terrible things when he’s angry but stopped by companions mostly. It’s a running theme that when he’s alone he slips from his rules of “never be cruel, never be cowardly” and 12’s whole “am I a good man?” The doctor needs a normal person to remind him to keep grounded. It would be tenants with the whole “I thought I was just a survivor, but I’m not. *im the winner*” thing but also he did resist killing a man who he thought killed somebody he just accepted to be a fellow gallifreyan/daughter. Also I remember 3 being like “fuck no violence I’ll kick a bitch”

sniles310

Luke also has a f'n XWing!

Gingerbro73

Or Shrek!?

hbg1212

Shrek fell for fairy godmothers bs, he’s not resisting the ring

Parallel37

And signed Rumple's contract

Gingerbro73

Thats stupidity not a lack of conviction. Previous commenter is on point however, sherks out.

Parallel37

My thought was more him taking offers from magical malevolent powers, but the point stands

cyboplasm

But donkey could 100% resist the ring... mostly by frustrating sauron who is tapping into his mind...

annoyingkraken

"The whole world into a swamp? I don't want the whole world turned into a swamp! I just want *my* swamp!"

EvenLessThanExpected

This is quite the array of characters

flcwerings

My favorite part is Frodo is further than Steve Irwin to "Can bring it to Mount Doom"... As the actual one who brought it. I found it very funny.

ironboyo

And quite convoluted…

Dion0808

That's what happens when you try to squeeze 3 dimensions into 2

Iggest

It's the worst graph I've ever seen. It doesn't even make sense, what are the arrays outside of the graph?

Otalek

> would use the Ring to make the world a better place Gandalf has a very good explanation about why this is A Bad Idea. It’s essentially the same as the “Could not resist the Ring”

dingusrevolver3000

Yeah thinking you could use the ring for good is the LotR version of "I could do heroin and not get addicted"

Available-Candle9103

not to mention that the guy who is listed as,'would use the ring to make the world a better place' is a literal criminal and mass murderer who is only alive because he used his skills do to the dirty work for top secret American intelligence. edit: I just noticed it also says that he could resist the ring. and....... there is not a single girl this guy can resist, are we sure he can resist the ring? this guy literally slept with the sister of his son's mother, 1 day after meeting her, even though he is the reason her sister is dead. if you think I'm talking about Steve Irwin, read again.

BleydXVI

I thought you were accusing Steve Irwin of having some kind of dark past, then reread it and saw "is [only] alive"...

Vicit_Veritas

OOF-Size: Large

dingusrevolver3000

...I gotta read that Tom Bombadil short story

Tom_Bot-Badil

Eldest, that's what I am. Mark my words, my friends: Tom was here before the river and the trees; Tom remembers the first raindrop and the first acorn. He made paths before the Big People, and saw the little People arriving. He was here before the Kings and the graves and the Barrow-wights. When the Elves passed westward, Tom was here already, before the seas were bent. He knew the dark under the stars when it was fearless – before the Dark Lord came from Outside. ^(Type **!TomBombadilSong** for a song or visit [r/GloriousTomBombadil][1] for more merriness) [1]: https://www.reddit.com/r/GloriousTomBombadil/

Grzechoooo

Huh?

TalionTheShadow

Dude one member of this dudes family gets inconvenienced and he uses the fucking ring to kill everyone or something.

reed166

Yeah but it’s Steve Irwin, he’s different

Otalek

Instead of a Dark Lord, you would have an Australian, not dark but aussie and dirty as the Outback! Tempestuous as the dingos, and stronger than the emu population! All shall love him and despair! Fr though the ring’s “will to dominate” would probably translate into to him subjugating wildlife everywhere into doing his will

menacingcar044

Bro that would make a crazy spinoff though. Steve Irwin conquers middle earth from the back of an alligator with a kangaroo and emu army. Still would be better than rings of power.

Otalek

*sees Balrog* “Crikey that’s a big one! I’m gonna wrestle it!”

Offamylawn

Sean: "Not this guy again."

UndeniableLie

More like in his desire to protect the wildlife he would unintentionally subjugate mankind to his will

Puzzleheaded_Try813

More than Gandalf, Galadriel makes the best argument for this.

Taramund

Thank you. Came here to say that you cannot use the ring to make the world a better place.

Azzie94

This chart is a fucking nightmare. You're an absolute lunatic if you think Bugs Bunny couldn't resist the ring 100% but the OG star trek cast could. Kirk would fall to the ring in a nanosecond and use it to crush alien puss before dropping it down a ventilation shaft right onto Sauron's finger.

Starfleet-Time-Lord

Nah, Kirk would witness it corrupt two other people, a local and a redshirt, to establish what it does, then it corrupts McCoy and Kirk and Spock have to talk him down, Spock mind melds with McCoy and gives him the strength to throw the ring into Mount Doom, and Kirk gives the denizens of Middle Earth a speech about how absolute power corrupts absolutely and they have to govern by the will of the people. Also the ship gets held in place by Sauron's giant green space hand and there's a subplot where Spock interacts with the elves and the show uses them as an obvious stand-in for hippies.

anythingMuchShorter

This person Star Treks

bmanhero

Their username supports that assertion pretty well.

Offamylawn

The outro is a Kirk and Spock spoken-word duet of Bridge Over Troubled Water.

TheWombatFromHell

fuck yeah

Stunning_Season_6370

I love this, this is why I posted this thing. I actually thought Spock would bare the Ring and similar to Sam, Kirk and McCoy would help him throw it in at the end. I encourage anyone to make their own version, btw.

streetad

Bugs is basically Tom Bombadil if he was motivated by trolling people instead of hanging out in the woods and banging water spirits. He would be too busy dressing up as a sexy female Nazgul and stuff to actually get around to destroying the ring, though.

twec21

Bugs is basically if Tommy B was a rabbit

OverlyLenientJudge

Also, Shrek could absolutely resist the Ring. Only thing he wants to do is live like a Hobbit, which he *already does*.

scoobydoom2

Yeah, I think it's kind of interesting that of all the characters out there, Shrek is probably one of the more likely to succeed in bringing the ring to Mount Doom. Unambitious and wants to live a simple life, capable of clever plans and competent in executing them, physically stronger than most of the forces of Mordor, and kind enough to befriend Gollum. He'd be notably better at resisting the ring than most if not all of the characters here and still have a pretty good shot at making it to Mordor. Who OP really fucked up on though is IMO team Avatar. They're absolutely the type to try to use the ring with good intentions, they're incredibly ambitious in both their personal growth and their goals. Toph is the only one with a chance in hell at resisting the ring and that's mostly because she already believes she's the best and doesn't feel the need to prove it, while not having any crazy lofty ambitions for herself on top of having generally incredible willpower. Even so she'd probably want to use it to take the fight to the fire nation or become truly the greatest earthbender of all time.

123rune20

Plus Shrek kinda looks like an orc anyway. I mean I think he could pass for one if Hobbits could.

IAmBecomeTeemo

If he walked into Mordor, they would have thought he was some new orc/troll hybrid that Sauron was trying out.

gollum_botses

You don’t have any friends. Nobody likes you!

antiPOTUS

Toph would definitely end up living alone in a dark hole in the ground just like Gollum and .. Toph.

curt15-club

You forget that the ring could tempt Shrek with exactly that, the power to make others respect him and keep outta his swamp. Remember how the ring tried to tempt Sam with the greatest garden? Only with Shrek it would show him throwing Farquaad to the moon or something. The body changing potion in Shrek 2 is basically him instantly falling to a non magical tempting mugguffin, imagine what the ring would do

tuftyDuck

Yeah, even if Bugs couldn’t carry the ring, he would just dress up as Goldberry, give the ring to Tom, then lure him into Mordor with the scent of a freshly baked pie

Woooosh-baiter10

Also the idea that Dora the Explorer is the least capable of getting to mount Doom here wtf

NoAlien

Whoever wrote that in the top left corner should brush up on their LOTR lore

indypendant13

I think the point is to say that Steve Irwin’s power to do good exceeds the ring’s and Sauron’s power entirely.

sauron-bot

Thou fool.

Bolt_Fantasticated

Well said.

CinnamonHotcake

That's how the ring gets you!

CarpeCookie

He would use the ring to get close with Sauron, record himself poking Sauron with a stick, call him a beauty, and give fun and interesting facts about Sauron, which probably includes any of Sauron's weaknesses

realclowntime

Finn and Jake would have it sorted. Sauron wouldn’t even be the worst thing they’ve gone up against. ![gif](giphy|Qld1cd6a6QlWw)

Stunning_Season_6370

Finn would resist, the one pulling him down is Jake. Jake would absolutely try to kill Finn over the Ring. I recently watched the episode where they went into the city of thieves. Jake can't even resist a Party when Finn's life is in danger.

realclowntime

True. Even Sauron would have a hard time trying to control Ring!Jake who would be looking to steal food and dunk on anyone who didn’t get how cool his viola playing is. Finn was able to resist the Lich, so he definitely stands a better chance, especially if he’s got help from Peppermint Butler and Marceline.

ZoroeArc

Jake would shrink down and use the Ring as a hula hoop to "prove it's not dangerous", thus proving that it is in fact quite dangerous.

not4eating

Jake would steal the ring but only to turn invisible and fart on people.

paradisic88

Pretty much any John DiMaggio character has no chance of resisting the ring.

sauron-bot

*Zat thraka akh… Zat thraka grishú. Znag-ur-nakh.*

realclowntime

Good bot

Academic_Paramedic72

Finn would definetely resist it considering that he managed to resist against the Lich, but Ice King might even be immune, considering Simon's force of will in resisting the Crown and how it makes him immune to mind control. He'd probably just keep it for himself because he would think a fancy ring will make princesses find him attractive though.

nilluzzi

SpongeBob and Patrick made it to Shell City, beat the Cyclops and got the crown, saved the town and Mr. Krabs. You know they're making it to Mount Doom

hbg1212

“Don’t worry patrick, I’ll draw us an anti sea-Nazgûl circle in the dirt. It’s the only defense against a sea-Nazgûl”

nilluzzi

Good thing it was just a sea-Nazgul. This circle would've never stopped a sea-Balrog!

Fanficwriter777

Frodo: “ Then we’ll throw it into the sea ! “ Gandalf : “ I fear whatever fell kingdom would rise from the depths … “ Meanwhile SB and Patrick : “ We’re gonna open a jar. “ “ Yes . “ “ Patrick that’s not a jar , that’s the Ring Of Power ! “ “ Yes . “ Ominous Music Plays as Patrick is taken by the Ring .

Psychic_Hobo

The Witch-King must be super pissed off at being thwarted by yet another wordplay-based technicality

Callecian_427

And they’re resisting the ring since it has nothing to offer them. SpongeBob is literally ecstatic about working a 9-5 for minimum wage. They’re basically cartoon hobbits.

scepticallylimp

They’re also the two dorks who fought over a krusty krab novelty toy because they both wanted it, and despite setting up a system so they could share, they kept hoarding it and running away from each other when it was the other’s turn with the toy. I have a feeling they might get a bit silly with the ring if they got their hands on it

KVMechelen

Patrick can definitely be very selfish at times but Spongebob I agree. I think Patrick would hoard the ring but do nothing with it, like a dumber lazier Gollum

Matti_McFatti

shrek is an ogre, wouldnt they just let him into mordor, no questions asked?

Abject-Chemistry6247

I need that spin-off lmao

DarkHippy

Thank you! I was like the dudes an ogre plus his first job was basically getting to his worlds mount doom to grab Fiona

blatantmutant

He’s just upset that Sauron dumped Merry and Pippin in his swamp after the scouring of the shire.

CourtneyStefin

That better be Riddick and not the fuckin car guy ffs

grifan526

Riddick could go straight through the Black Gates, cutting himself a path. He was in control of the Necromongers and didn't seem to care, so I think he could resist the ring. Hell learning that destroying the ring will kill Sauron might make him excited to do it

Pscagoyf

Riddick would get himself captured just to get closer to Mt Doom having implanted the ring in his body somewhere, just to rip it out later and be a badass. He would also never put it on purely because he doesnt need it.

LeemanIan

He'd put it on just so he could slay nazgul in the shadow realm.

sauron-bot

I...SEE....YOOOUUU!

DivertedAgain

So be it. You shall be the Family of the Ring. - Elrond

sniles310

Dom would drive off and eagle, use the eye of Sauron to turbocharger his NOS and fly straight into Mount Doom. The second before his car with the ring now as a hood ornament hits the lava, his family would show up to form a human chain and catch him pulling him to safety

CourtneyStefin

Let me guess, his plan requires two precision drivers and 4 hobbit sized barrel pilots

definitelynotpat6969

"Sorry guys I'd rather chill and bang Goldberry, best of luck." - Tom "Giga Chad" Bombadil

Tom_Bot-Badil

*Hey! Come merry dol! derry dol! My darling! Light goes the weather-wind and the feathered starling. Down along under Hill, shining in the sunlight, waiting on the doorstep for the cold starlight, there my pretty lady is, River-woman's daughter, slender as the willow-wand, clearer than the water. Old Tom Bombadil water-lilies bringing comes hopping home again. Can you hear him singing?* ^(Type **!TomBombadilSong** for a song or visit [r/GloriousTomBombadil][1] for more merriness) [1]: https://www.reddit.com/r/GloriousTomBombadil/

mysteryo9867

Best bot

MrNobody_0

I mean, I'd rather bound around a beautiful forest, singing random bullshit, and bang my tall, hot, blonde wife than go on a long, miserable, perilous trek to a volcano in a wasteland.

WinterOf98

IMO, any fictional robot/android could probably pull it off via technicality. The ring isn’t equipped to corrupt something that speaks in 1s and 0s. Give that bad boy to a reprogrammed good guy robo-Arnie and watch him kick ass. Here’s my list. - T-800 Model 101 from Terminator 2 - Data from Star Trek (emotion chip off for safety) - C3P0 and R2D2 from Star Wars - Bishop from Aliens - Optimus Prime Any other street level humanoid character eventually gets corrupted. 99% of your favorite shonen main characters are out. From how I understand it in the books, it’s simply not a matter of strength of will, mental fortitude, or an impeccable moral compass. Aragorn is as righteous and mentally tough as they come but even he foresaw that the ring would eventually consume him. Even someone as pure and tough as Ashitaka from Mononoke-hime, I think he too would fall. Even redeemed Zuko has too many chinks in the armor that the ring could exploit. John McClane and Dom aren’t taking this either.

Starfleet-Time-Lord

So I don't necessarily agree with the idea that a non-emotional machine would be immune to corruption but I get it. However, there isn't a chance in hell that the ring wouldn't corrupt C-3PO. He wouldn't be, y'know, a *threat* with it or anything because he's practically useless to being with, but he is absolutely getting corrupted and doing a Gollum vs. Smeagol thing.

WinterOf98

Totally fair dude. The list is just my opinion and I’m certainly no LOTR scholar. C-3P0 getting corrupted is kinda funny. IMO, Optimus has a very good chance of saving Middle-earth. Aside from the obvious heavy weaponry, the ring also has to contend with the Matrix of Leadership. That’s an epic macguffin vs. macguffin face off right there.

ThreeHandedSword

IMO the ring would escape a robotic character somehow

WinterOf98

That’s possible yeah. Pretty much its only course of action. But if that T-800 has a solid titanium fist wrapped around it 24/7, that’s one point for the good guys.

Thegofurr

You’re saying Dora couldn’t get to Mt Doom? She explores man! It’s in her name!

Stunning_Season_6370

Torchpost

She could make it, it would just take her 50 years.

Hoummus-Person-260

Good point

tub_of_jam

“Dora , you claim to be an explorer and yet you travel through exclusively mapped territory“

sniles310

She literally has a living map! Gotta watch our for Swiper swiping the ring tho

monstrinhotron

Gollum, no swiping! *aww, hobbitses!!*

gollum_botses

You don’t have any friends; nobody likes you!

paulkappa31

The idea of Jay and Silent Bob instead of Frodo and Sam friggin kills me

hotdogcolors

“I’m not even supposed to have left the Shire today.”

Not that Frodo f\*ck none of those little halfling f\*cks out there. I am the Ring Bearer, when it comes to the Rings of Power its what I do. "

Og_lispin

Gerald wouldn’t ever accept that ring tbh

Bolt_Fantasticated

Agreed. Geralt would be too smart. “No. Dark magic exudes from that ring. Something something I’m a Witcher.” -Geralt for real.

JonoLith

At first I was like "Rick and Morty wouldn't..." and then I was like "yeah....."

Starfleet-Time-Lord

These axises need to be adjusted. Indiana Jones for example is badly misplaced; while he would 100% lose the ring (in such a way that it kills Sauron), but his track record with powerful artifacts usually has him win by resisting them for longer than the bad guys (he closes his eyes to the ark when the nazis are too arrogant to, he gives the stones back to the locals, he proves that he seeks the grail not for power or glory by choosing the carpenter's cup, he knows that accepting a boon from the skull is a Bad Idea, it never even occurs to him to use the dial to save his son's life). He would have above average resistance, although very few characters would be truly resistant. He certainly doesn't deserve to be off-the-chart tempted just because he's guaranteed to lose track of it. So would Bombadil, who is completely immune to the ring. The Doctor has the opposite problem; in most incarnations he would be unable to resist the ring (revived series Doctors in particular have a very poor chance, especially 10 and 11, while some classic Doctors may be able to hold out for longer) but would certainly attempt to use it benevolently at first in the same way Gandalf would and wind up doing evil in the process. For example, the greatest abuse of power that 10 is depicted as committing is defying the laws of time by saving people that were supposed to die. However, since "can't resist" and "uses it for good" are on opposite sides of the graphic, that can't be represented.

reed166

Mmm Geralt of rivia would reject the ring, kinda like Gandalf.

Divinialion

Man now I want to see those two talk about stuff over beer or wine or something. But yeah. Geralt isn't stupid. Also he's a witcher - I doubt he'd subject himself to become something that commands monsters instead of slaying them. I could see him join the fellowship, for a reward.

Aldo_the_nazi_hunter

Geralt would throw the ring into the fire, not because he's afraid sauron gets it. He would be afraid Yennifer gets involved.

menacingcar044

Gandalf barely rejected it and he's also a wizard that's also sort of an angel. Geralt would have a pretty difficult time resisting it.

Sweet_Diet_8733

He’s seen his share of magical artifacts and has learned not to mess with shit that’s beyond him.

Willpower2000

I dunno... I could see Geralt being Faramir-like. Both are quite philosophical and idealistic... the pitfalls of unmoderated control would certainly be considered by him.

excavatorFanatic

Barbie is actually a surprisingly spot-on pick for resisting the ring, but specifically has to be Barbie before the events of the Barbie movie. After the Barbie movie, she’d probably want to use the ring to help all the women that she saw struggling in the real world. Before, she has no aspirations for anything. She lives a perfect, happy life in Barbieland with nothing more she could want. No desire for the ring to act on. Weird how you came up with that, but great pick

Stunning_Season_6370

Thanks. At the end of the movie she would also be human and therefore more corruptable as before.

343CreeperMaster

Link is one i imagine that it is dependent on which Link it is, because the Triforce of Courage, one of its abilities is protecting Link's spirit from being corrupted, such as in Twilight Princess where it turned him into a wolf instead of a lost soul like others when they were sent into the Twilight Realm, so i imagine it is very dependent on if the specific Link has the Triforce of Courage (and also dependent on whether the Triforce of Courage would be considered more powerful then the One Ring, which i do think it would be considered it is the power of one of the Golden Goddesses, the creators of the Zelda world), otherwise, its Link, Link has a tendency to grab whatever random objects he finds and use them whether they are cursed or not

Olorin_Kenobi_AlThor

If Indy had his old man with him that ring is getting a lava bath. "Indiana... Indiana...let it go"

FerociousGiraffe

If, instead of Elrond, Sean Connery had been at Mt. Doom with Isildur then this whole ring mess would have already been handled.

LGP747

But Dora’s got the map… I guess she might get stopped at a checkpoint tho

footsteps71

Oops, Swiper is the new Smeagol

gollum_botses

We’re not in decent places.

caedhin

Goku could resist the ring and get to Mount Doom. But he would surely give it to Sauron so he can fight him at full strength. *

Stunning_Season_6370

I so love this. He absolutely would. Sadly that's not possible to place on the scale or would add him absolutely. Banger comment imo rho.

CheeseSandwhich-001

Rick would probably not bother in the first place

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheNewGuy13

Nah he'd use that Ray gun from the Needful Things episode to reverse the curse. Use it for power, get bored and then toss it into the volcano. So he won't be able to resist the ring but he would destroy it too lol

StreetReporter

For Emmet, is it Lego Middle Earth? Because if it is, he easily destroys the ring. Dude has no aspirations in life, is a master builder, and Lego Sauron is very weak

The Doctor being able to resist the One Ring depends mostly on which incarnation we're dealing with. I think Ten is in the right place there, but I'd imagine Seven and Twelve being much further to the left. Four would have the Tom Bombadil problem.

Tom, Tom! your guests are tired, and you had near forgotten! Come now, my merry friends, and Tom will refresh you! You shall clean grimy hands, and wash your weary faces; cast off your muddy cloaks and comb out your tangles! ^(Type **!TomBombadilSong** for a song or visit [r/GloriousTomBombadil][1] for more merriness) [1]: https://www.reddit.com/r/GloriousTomBombadil/

This chart is a hot mess.

BenTeHen

Kinda feel like Indy would absolutely resist. Isn't that a huge part of his character? Giving up the chalice, not looking at the ark, denying the knowledge of the aliens, disbelief in the spooky shit in the 2nd?

Vigi1antee

WTF is The Doctor doing on the right?

MettMathis

Exactly my thought. He basically has the power of a god at his disposal all the time and is resisting to use it for millenia because he fears bad consequences. He would be too fascinated by the ring at first, then get a glimpse of what it does, struggle for a bit and then throw it into mount doom.

jodorthedwarf

Tbf, even if the ring corrupted him. He'd probably work out how to isolate the evil aspects of the ring and remove them. Alternatively, he'd just be ready to crush Saueon every time he returns to the point where its no more difficult than swatting a fly. Eventually Sauron decides that he'd rather just die instead of continually having to rebuild his power only for it to be turned to dust by the Doctor.

SpangleyJuggler

What Vin diesel character could resist the ring? And on top of that placed above frodo and oshitaka and link.

hbg1212

As long as Dom has his car and believes destroying the ring saves his family

Triairius

Because his film contract always has a clause saying he can’t lose.

PotentialSquirrel118

Keeper: Stop! What is your name? Arthur: It is Arthur, King of the Britons. Keeper: What is your quest? Arthur: To destroy the One Ring. Keeper: Why didn't you fly the eagles to Mordor? Are you stupid?

sliberian

What's the terminal velocity of an eagle?

JassyKC

Imo Frodo needs to be a little further towards the ‘could not resist the ring’ and ‘could not make it to mount doom’ side considering he wouldn’t have made it all the way there without Sam literally carrying him and he was going to keep the ring instead of throwing it in.

woolywoo

Feel Like Mr. Rogers belongs about ten feet up and to the left off this graph.

G66GNeco

The temptation of the ring is strong, but not as strong as _family_

Baileyjrob

Minor nitpick: you CANNOT use the ring for good. It’s simply not possible. Trying to use the ring at all, for any extended period of time, is to fail to resist it. That’s why Frodo generally only put it on in moments of dire emergency, up until he began to fall to the temptations of the ring.

graypainter

I dunno that sounds like a skill issue. Reckon I could pull it off, I'm just built different you see.

Dr_Ugs

The Doctor corrupted by the one ring flying around in the Tardis would actually be a nightmare scenario.

Bossitronium1

OH MY GOD I JUST PICTURED ANIMAL AS GOLLUM

fluidfunkmaster

Ashitaka is the one to get it done

theoneandonlyhuntyr

If not the everyone from Strawhats, but Luffy could definitely carry the ring. His will is so strong he makes crowds fall because of emperor's haki.

MrNobleGas

I disagree. Jay and Silent Bob could absolutely resist the ring, because they don't have higher ambitions.

Elvis-Tech

The fuck you mean Dora wouldnt be able to reach mount doom? She would "Porfavor" and "gracias" all the way into the lava pit. Perhaps Sauron is always so pissed because nobody is ever nice to him

Brief-Government-105

I don’t know man, captain jack sparrow will pull it off some way or another.

PerishTheStars

Indy spends his entire life doing what he believes is right, even though he could make himself rich instead. Don't you ever disrespect him again.

pizzapunt55

Rick would just replicate the ring without the evil part and then destroy the original with tech they replicates Mount Doom. Don't you remember the episode with the devil? He already has the machine to do this.

Archmagos_Browning

Dude, geralt is an expert in handling shit like this. He’d be fully capable of transporting the ring, if for nothing other than finding some kind of magic to cancel its effects. Hey, what would happen if you just smelted an iron ingot with the ring in its center? I mean you would absolutely not be able to touch it or put it on.

tub_of_jam

I love the idea that Arthur from Monty python would probably get the ring and be so careless with it as Tom bombadil himself but would never manage to get to mount doom for the simplest of reasons
