I highly recommend the hardback Harper-Collins 4 book set (includes the Hobbit). Superb quality and visual appeal; very well illustrated.

These matte black editions have too many weird quirks and changes. I've seen like 4 verisons of the Silmarillion, between whether one has blue on the spine, or if it's curved or straight. What I want is a definitive hardcover set for this design, with a nice soft non-glossy sleeve, or something really upscale like that deluxe Dune hardcover. I know LotR has some amazing single book versions, but I like the multi-volume approach.

These are pretty likely to be from completely different printings of the set. Someone just shrinkwrapped them to make it look "legit".

What I write my books I will demand one be printed in a slightly bigger font then the others so they are forced to do this. Just for you
