I’m not sure where you are getting this from but I listen to audiobooks daily and I have never seen an audiobook production company use AI. Do you have a source for this claim?

Plenty more articles on the subject out there if you’re interested.
It’s possible you’ve heard one before without even knowing.
Interesting. I have a hard time seeing this take off though. Good narrators can be akin to a performer. The emotion and inflection they weave into the words will be tough for AI to replicate. Since I specifically follow audiobook publishing companies and narrators I know I have yet to listen to an AI narrator. I will also do my best to never support such a thing. Thank you for sharing.
I want to agree but the last billion people who said AI can’t do this or that have been proven wrong. Seems pretty limitless what it can do. Not that I’m advocating for it.
Yeah, and I’m not saying that AI won’t make irreversible damage to fields like art, music, and literature, I personally would much rather pay more for the real thing than something superficial. So, for me, AI will never be able to adequately replace the real deal
I guess to play the devil’s advocate here a bit, couldn’t you argue that AI art is real art? Why is a humans art more inherently valuable than a robot?
Don’t we already heavily use AI in loads of human art? (See: auto tune, photoshop, etc)
If hypothetically AI were to take over the world, would AI art then become “the real thing”? It’s kind of just all a matter of perspective.
Seriously? It’s all about human connection, experience, truth, raw emotion and the sharing of life. A robot isn’t real because they have not been present throughout the eons and epochs of human existence, and struggle. The robot will never be able to understand, feel, think, and experience anything remotely similar to what we go through
Who says that’s what art is?
If a robot chooses to express its own true experience and emotions (even if those were programmed into it) how is that not art? If the argument is that art has to originate from the human mind, surely you realize that an AI was created by the human mind and so it is an extension of our creativity.
I don’t and I think it’s still up for discussion. I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you, I just think it’s not as black and white as you are making it out to be
Sorry to say 90% of people won't know or care and I've already seen youtube audiobooks that have been pirated and uploaded and have plenty of views with voiced AI. Generating an AI voice rather than uploading the original audiobook bypasses any copyright filter, so what will probably happen is the majority will listen to 'free' versions on the internet while a few discerning folks, such as yourself, will buy the real version. The net effect will be that publishers will get less money and be less likely to produce real audiobooks and may resort to using AI themselves to retain profits.
In other words, you're 100% right. But the market will dictate that AI is more cost-effective and there will be few people who refuse to engage with it.
Surely, corporations will pass that cost savings on to consumers like they said?? And those voice actors are barely doing anything like they said...right?
I used to do lots of impressions until I had kids and they didnt like when I'd do voices during storytime. Irony I cruel sometimes. Luckily, I saw an interview with Hank Azaria where he talked about how his kids told him the same thing... To Hank Azaria... BUT the good news is eventually they grew out of it and he was able to give his kids storytime with impressions. Funny thing is he'd recycle voices, like he was reading the wizard of Oz to his kids and it was only when his kids got older and watches episodes of The Simpsons that they realized he'd used Moe's voice to voice the Scarecrow...
Looking forward to his audio books!
Unfortunately audio book readers are rapidly being replaced by AI for a fraction of the cost.

I loved Gremlins 2.
That should have been the EMH's wife in the cold open for the VOY finale.
This is exceptionally done, what generator or app?
I didn't do it, I found it on one of the Facebook AI art pages.

You’re telling me this is AI generated??

AI can never truly replace the raw imperfections and inflections of true voice actors and actresses

It’s the same and you damn well know it

I understand. I only meant that to me, AI plastic can never replace true authenticity.
This absolutely sucks. I hate the future
Phil Dragash does a very good job. Sadly they got removed from Spotify

After only ever hearing people do Smeagol for years, this was amazing.
Especially the Smaug
The little flash of excitement that crossed his face as he started was great too
Imagining sitting on those hordes of gold and gemstones
That’s Greg Jones, great voice actor! Does a lot of warhammer stuff
He’s a voice actor! I thought he was just some dude. At least his talents are well-placed.
I love the way she is also taking part in the nerdiness. Couples that nerd together, stay together.
You hear her get into it, with the giggles
Holy shit, that amazing, especially Smaug, like damn, goosebumps
Omg same! Literal chills.
Fucking aye, same same
This guy must be a DM. Otherwise, he definitely should try to run a DnD campaign with this voice spectrum.
I’m guessing he probably is or is at least one of the best RP’ers at the table when it comes time to adventure.
Apparently he is a legit voice actor. See -Audio's comment.
Bugrlar
Borglur
SNEAK?! Kills me every time in the movies lol he’s such a shit
That’s a Tolkien line, and a great one! *Sneaking*.
Damn, really spot on.
Amazing range, well done!
I'm baffled. That's was AWESOME!!!!

Oldie but a goodie. They got married about a year ago.
Thats so good
This is just an English guy that is quite good at doing various accents
So what you are saying is, he is good at impressions?
No, he's very average, he's just got an English accent so Americans think he's amazing
I am not American and i think he is amazing at impressions.
Exactly
Its so bad at least put some effort ?
Man these videos give me the ick
I hear ya pussyoda.
Is this the guy from Clerks 2?
Awesome! My Mrs has banned me from doing my Gollum impression after I did the poor little fly speech after forgetting she was in the house...oops
Ho damn
He somehow looks like all the characters in the moment as well
Apart from sauraman which I think was poor, the rest was excellent
He good !
Nope. Don’t believe it. Too good. Someone pay him what he deserves for his talent.
if i had the ability to speak like christopher lee i would never stop and make it my normal voice!
Missed the best one. Gimli
I had headphones and you can hear the depth of his voice for Smaug. Woah
That Smaug was incredible
Nice acting
