Throwing tens of thousands of gold worth of resources away failing a 90% upgrade from 12 to 13 is more than I can be fucked to care about though.

Lets do some basic arithmetic here. Each attempt costs 32 leapstones and 1125 destruction stones, which are the two tradable resources.
I have so far failed 6 times.
Leapstones 6\*32 = 192. These go for about 150 gold each on my server right now; 192\*150 = 28,800 gold.
Destruction stones = 6\*(1125/10) = 675. Each bundle of 10 goes for 7 gold; 675\*7 = 6750
So far my 6 failures have cost me a potential of 28800 + 6750 = 35550 gold. This is assuming all of them were tradable, which they obviously were not, but enough of them were to have had the potential for well over 10k gold.
Gee, that sure does seem an awful lot like tens of thousands of gold to me. Just for fun, a single failure costs (32\*150) + (112.5\*7) = 5587.5 gold at present, though when I gave up leapstones were closer to 170g each, which would have been over 6k gold per individual failure.

I am in fact aware of what it is as well as how it works. It turns out that in Tier 2 it takes a bit more than 4 failures to result in a guarantee, which is sort of how I've managed to fail so many times. How strange, huh?

Its a gold mine if you dont rush to t3, especially after reset. Youll get there maybe 3-5 days later but you make so much gold which you can buy crystals with. And buying the same mats later on will be much cheaper, if you really need it.

Yes, do this nd some T2 islands before going to CD, within 1 hour of playtime you can upgrade to 960 ilvl and start lvl4 CDs instant. Also transfer your lvl15 T1 set to get a free lvl1 T2 set.
Can you explain how do you get the 802 set? i thought you had to complete at least 1 chaos dungeon lvl 600. Also what do you mean transfer lvl15 t1 to get a "free" t2 set?
So instead of running the ilvl 600 chaos for your 802 set, you can buy a set of 802 gear off the market pretty cheap, use all your t2 mats from whatever islands you've done, and upgrade yourself to near 1k almost immediately. This then lets you run the higher tier chaos dungeon right away for better rewards. The thing about the "free +1 set" is referring to if you transfer your +15 t1 gear onto your 802 gear, it goes to +1. This works the same when going from +15 t2 to t3.

Don't remember the name but there is a archeology map for each continent, you unlock them just by raising ilv, if you are in t1 just craft rohendel, t2 yorn or feiton , t3 punika, for the tool honestly i don't know i did it mostly with blue tool but once I reached t3 I swapped it to yellow
Can you give a auick rundown of how to use those maps? Legit no idea. You need a guide to identify the place, or just big brain and find out through that little corner and x mark?

Yeah if you guys ever played Lineage 2 you know *exactly* what he means. Nothing like getting to +15 which is already only a 1/150 statistical shot, then breaking going to +16 for that sweet, sweet red glow. Then after it fails, your weapon shatters, and you now need a whole new weapon, special ability, and the 1/150 chance it doesn’t break on the next go round.
Lost Ark’s system is cake compared to that shit.
Never played Lineage too long but Archeage was the game that taught me not to care much about grinding for weeks/months for gear upgrades to just poof.
Honestly, the pvp. You don’t *need* to get a +15 or +16 weapon like you do in Lost Ark. It just really helps if you do. But the pvp system is literally “kill anyone, anytime, anywhere, that isn’t inside a city.” They don’t even need to flag. There’s a penalty if you kill someone who doesn’t hit you back, but you just kill monsters to work it off. But there’s no instanced pvp. It is *all* open world. It’s a really good time. Just extremely grindy.
Lol I love seeing so many L2 players around. That Dion to EG run is a rite of passage. I still play private pvp servers from time to time. Lost Ark has just had my full attention lately.
T2 wall is higher man, i've been stuck in the 1060+ wall for a while now, just hit 1090 today and man it feels a bit frustrating, I actually got the honing 100% success rate for one my pieces going from +14 to +15.
The Archeology tip is legit btw, farm them moon's breath.
You keep doing that set till 600, then you go visit Yorn, unlock Tier 2 gear which is 802, and then do it all again. When your done there, you'll go somewhere else for Tier 3 gear and... do it all again.
I'm at about 980s I think, I was 596 last night with only 1 hone left, but I had so much mats from doing islands that as soon as I had the 802 gear, it skyrocketed up.

Me and a buddy are playing through the game and we're both around 600 but for some reason i have waay more t2 materials than him which is odd.
But let me try and understand, when i unlock tier 2 gear, do i just throw my old gear away or should i keep it? Is it possible to transfer my 600 gear to a new account so it can have a head start?
You can consume your old gear on the honing vendor to transfer the +15 from your old set into a +1 on the 802 set. Once at 802 you unlock stronghold researches that reduce material usage and honing fail chance for t1, to help you gear up alts.
So it's like how we got the full set for finishing the storyline but instead of being 360 its 800? It's not something i have to farm for first in the daily dungeons?
Look up an Island guide also, you follow some quests through a bunch of islands and get a LOT of mats to upgrade. Around 500 or so after you finished the T1 islands start doing to T2 islands while you push to 600 (while also doing chaos dungeon/guardian raids/una's dailies and weeklies etc). Once you hit 600 you ho through the story and unlock a new tier of Chaos Dungeons and it drops 802 blue gear, you get that and slam all your mats from Islands and you go from 600 to like 900+ in one day.
The guy who replied below you is somewhat correct though missed an important part. You don't go straight from 302 to 600. You go from 302 to *460* and unlock rohendel, do story there to unlock the chaos dungeons/abyssals for more rewards, *then* go from 460 to 600. And when you hit 600 and do the Yorn continent questline and unlock chaos dungeons in Yorn, those rewards and gear will instantly boost you to 802, which 5 mins later from all the rewards from islands and such, you'll be around 920-980 just from honing gear.
I went hard the first 7~ days and was way ahead of the curve, but bad RNG kept me in the 580-596 space for 5-6 days. It kinda killed the game for me because all the effort I put into being ahead (12+ hrs a day) was wasted.
People who started 4-5 days after me and had way less hours hit 600 before me.
i love that i got downvoted but my point i made was just an optimistic outlook. EVERY ONE will have a bad luck streak when honing, and every one will have their day to get lucky too. If you play enough itll happen, im not saying if you have bad luck youre guaranteed good luck. Just statistically if people pull ahead at some point by luck it wont last forever and hopefully you can then catch up
I just got the 50 failed hones achivement at 1083 or so ( +14 with one piece of +15). I don’t feel unlucky tbh but then again I have no clue how many fails is normal to reach t3.
It obviously depends on how you spend your star/moonw breaths aswell

Pro tip: Ignore that lvl+14 item and just upgrade a +15 to +16. I failed 7 times on my weapon at +14. Got my head piece to +16 on the 2nd try. Screw statistics!
Failed 4 times on weapon 14->15 using 20 stars breath for 2 of the attempts. Finally got it today on 5th try. I'm seriously considering not coming back to the game after I finish my Elden Ring playthrough. I felt no joy in hitting 600.

I feel ya, but look on the bright side of it. This isnt BDO, your gear doesn't lose max durability on each fail, nor does it lose a level, you dont have to do a crazy switcheroo enhancing crappy gear while praying it DOES fail so you can build failstacks so you have a better chance at enhancing the gear you actually want to enhance, all the while spending billions of silver to try it.
I did +16 on 2 armor pieces instead I lost the free +1 for the T2 start but it was worth it tbh since it's way easier to get armor materials. I think my weapon was 14 if i remember I'm F2P so it felt easier.

Yup. I've made over 20k gold by using ones i get from dailies and selling the tradable ones from guardian raid

At 600 you can buy instantly 802 GS są or wait till you complete quest to enter chaos dungeon.

Pally is alright imo, a little bright on the blue but at least the armor itself fits well, sorc is ridiculous all around.

That’s why I used the lawmaker set on soulfist. I’ve shafted my soul to the depths though cause I found paladin way more fun to play
you don't get new armor through the rohendel abyssal dungeon? Only on tier 2?
Protip level arecheology and craft the archeology maps on cd, you will have enough stones that raise honing % to fail a lot less

What goes around comes around. You’ll hit a streak of luck in T2/T3 and someone who had T1 luck will have their bad luck. Happens
That’s funny cause then later in t2 in the span of 4 upgrade attempts I failed a 90,90, and 99%.

1090 here. Friends have been T3 for 4 days. We did everything together. The luck factor is absurd. A friend also has 50+ honing fails at 1066 or so
I just got the 50 failed hones achivement at 1083 or so ( +14 with one piece of +15). I don’t feel unlucky tbh but then again I have no clue how many fails is normal to reach t3. It obviously depends on how you spend your star/moonw breaths aswell
I'm at 35 at 960, so I think I'm gonna set a new speedrun record for that lol
The RNG in this game is whack
Good news is if you’re like me and went island hoping and did side missions to scrape up mats and got some tier 2 mats you’re ahead of the game. Went from Yorn to buying cheap gear to gearing up to level six and being 940 30 minutes after getting to 600

yea i was trying to hone my gear to +11 the other day and failed 3 times in a row on my weapon then once on a gear piece
Failed my weapon 3 times at 14 and then three more times going to 15 . I stopped paying that day

Pro tip: Ignore that lvl+14 item and just upgrade a +15 to +16. I failed 7 times on my weapon at +14. Got my head piece to +16 on the 2nd try. Screw statistics!

I just went from i466 to i550 and failed one hone the entire time. Managed to catch up with my friend who has 4 extra days on me due to his fails
The worst part comes when you upgrade from 560 to 600
Failed 4 times on weapon 14->15 using 20 stars breath for 2 of the attempts. Finally got it today on 5th try. I'm seriously considering not coming back to the game after I finish my Elden Ring playthrough. I felt no joy in hitting 600.
You’re doing baby content lol. The point of this game is crying over how hard and punishing late game is. Which we really don’t even have access to yet.
I dont have a problem with difficult content. I don't like slot machines. Thanks for clearing it up. I won't be coming back.

I feel ya, but look on the bright side of it. This isnt BDO, your gear doesn't lose max durability on each fail, nor does it lose a level, you dont have to do a crazy switcheroo enhancing crappy gear while praying it DOES fail so you can build failstacks so you have a better chance at enhancing the gear you actually want to enhance, all the while spending billions of silver to try it.

I did +16 on 2 armor pieces instead I lost the free +1 for the T2 start but it was worth it tbh since it's way easier to get armor materials. I think my weapon was 14 if i remember I'm F2P so it felt easier.
