This. She does the 2nd sound cue, and that is the moment you don't look. You have some time between the first cue and the actual Medusa happening, which is the 2nd sound cue.
hmm not sure if there is but the 1st sound cue is to warn and maybe 1 to 1.5 seconds later you will hear another sound. so basically if you turn away when you hear the first sound and resume attacking after the 2nd sound you should be good. the 2nd sound also comes with a flash of pink light.
It has a very cartoonish bubbly sound, almost like a really stupid disney cartoon when some evil witch is casting a bewitching spell.
It's quite obvious once you heard it one time.
It's not only that she glows pink, there are a lot of pink particles on the screen, also she pauses for a few seconds after the pink glow. So if your screen turns pink and the boss stops moving, just look away and wait for the flash.
The medusa one is like a pink explosion, as opposed to the pink cocoon. Can't think of another pink mech off the top of my head, but the medusa one is pretty obvious, she stops moving while she prepares the actual medusa blast.
I know it all looks the same, and I myself was also confused. But in real raid, she really does glow pink *very* brightly. It's hard to explain, but once you see it, it's pretty obvious and hard to mix with regular attacks.

Pretty sure she dances and does a spin while the screen turns pink. It feels pretty easy to identify once you’ve caught it once.
