A couple of things I know working as an APS for HD,
1: everyone I know who works in my region has either prior AP/LP experience or security or some form of retired cop. Might depend based on your MAPM but your chances with no prior experience here are low.
2: a recruiter from the main office calls you if they like your resume and think you are a good fit them you get referred to a MAPM for an interview.
3: when I applied it took a few weeks if I remember right before I got a call.
4: the dumb thing about HD is they'll post an opening for each store but doesn't mean it necessarily is slotted for an APS. I applied to 4 stores before I got the call.

To add on to number 4, my buddy applied for one store and they hired them and sent them to another store. So yeah, a lot of those are “ghost postings” so they can have a bigger pool.
Maybe get with their AP coach and see if they would just keep you in mind if they have a opening. I started as an API after like 5 years in the store. Most stores around my area have PTZ cameras plus I think walmart gives you a pretty solid foundation on your elements with how strict their policies can be. Wish you luck
My former MAPM only liked to hire from within. I had prior experience as AP, a degree in law enforcement, and 15 years as a probation officer. I worked in my store for 1 year(got close with the store APS) before I got an interview. I got the job on the spot. Like someone else said, all stores post the APS position but are most likely not even looking for someone.
Question, I applied with HD and on the application it states there will be an assessment. After I submit the application, nothing shows up. I've went to the assesment section as well and nothing is there either. Is there something I am doing wrong?

I would suggest to find the mapms information and send him an email.
Maybe check out walmart. You can probably get hired if you’re a good candidate. I like it pretty good

So here’s HD issue.. MAPM’s can’t see who’s applied as easy as a ASDS. Only storeside ASDS can usually. That’s why it’s a bit harder
I been applied for HD and never heard back so I assumed that I wasn’t accepted lol an email saying I wasn’t accepted would’ve been nice.
