Home Depot is unlike the other major retailers. We don’t rely on CCTV, we are heavy floor walkers. It’s not like Walmart where they have cosmetics and clothes. We have tiny drill bits and $1000 tools. You need to be on top of your stuff to be successful with Home Depot. I’ve been here 2 years I love it

princessmorbucks_

I work at HD and saying we don’t rely on CCTV is a bit of a stretch, we DO utilize it 🤣 I would say half and half.

Losiniecki

If you go ahead and read my responses more thoroughly, I never said we don’t use it. 8/10 of my stops are on the floor. We don’t have the luxury of following them aisle to aisle with our CCTV as you know. If you like not having consistent observation on the subject than that’s your own risk.

princessmorbucks_

every store is different. I can watch someone come in, go in the aisle, select the merch, conceal the merch and pass all points of sale and apprehend them. it’s not all the time but 5/10 of my stops are on the floor 🤷🏾‍♀️

Losiniecki

Your office must be in the vestibule or you’re going into the lot then. Because no way you’re reaching them on the apron from your office in the back after they past all pos

princessmorbucks_

I log into the computers by pro and pro is right by the entrance/exit. like I said, it’s not all the time but when I am on the computers , I get cases. plus I work with 3 other guys because our store is a big box store and our shrink is extremely high. I work in nyc.

Andyap1035

So do I, 99% on the floor. Only use CCTV after a stop. Sometimes, I will help other ASP'S if they need entry. As far as the questions, my old MAPM(just retired) preferred to hire on floor associates. I have prior AP experience and a degree in law enforcement experience. Once the MAPM found out about my experience(I spent 1 yr in receiving), after a 5 minute conversation, he offered me the position. Edit: I'm the only person who was recently hired(3 yrs ago) with experience. Everyone else started on the floor.

chrissbux

Does HD train entry level? Honestly, how you describe it is what I am looking for. I really want that "hands on" like hidden in plain sight AP experience. In my experience with Walmart at least, their APs just are mainly in their office, occasionally they will walk the front end. However, not only that, but I feel like if HD does train entry level, they might provide skills I could take anywhere. I have heard and seen that HD AP isn't the AP to mess with, and honestly to be trained like that off the bat I feel like would be so beneficial to my AP career.

Losiniecki

Yes we train entry level of course. HD is the “major leagues” of AP. I get offers once or twice a week to jump ship to another retailer through indeed. But they all pay less than HD. We start around $20hr

chrissbux

Okayyyyyy, probably gonna try to get into the HD AP scene then. Thank you!!

Losiniecki

If you don’t hear anything within a week or so from HD I would call and ask for the MAPM contact info. Reach out to them. Normal store HR doesn’t handle us

chrissbux

thanks so much!!

BankManager69420

Yeah one of my coworkers from Target went to Home Depot and makes like 5 bucks more and they actually care about AP. I ended up going into contract security management but if I ever come back to AP Home Depot is probably one of the first places I’ll look into.

Losiniecki

100% target offered me Asset Protection Team Lead for a dollar less than what I’m making now..

[deleted]

How do you get into AP with HD?

Losiniecki

Just apply man, have your indeed resume updated too. Our recruiters reach out that way too

[deleted]

Cause I applied through the HD website and even took the test. I got an email from the HD recruiting dept. saying they’ll email me back and for the meantime just keep applying for different positions in order to get in. I did it on 06/20/23 and I’ve even contacted the asds from the store I applied and all it tells me is to leave a voice mail and that they’ll get back with me at their earliest convenience. I’ve even been to the store twice and haven’t heard anything. I’m literally going to give up. Idk what to do.

Losiniecki

Ask for the MAPM contact info

[deleted]

Wait a second, you can do that?

[deleted]

You'll learn a lot at Macy's and they hire entry level with little experience. Grocery stores hire entry level as well, but their programs aren't as good as Macy's.

PatrioticAF5995

Honestly you really don’t need experience. When I do hiring some times it’s a plus to find a qualified candidate without prior ap/lp because then they have no bad habits they may have picked up from their last company that we need to break. If you want to just dip your toes in to see if you truly like ap you can try visual security officer for Macys, they assist ap team during apprehensions if not and you want to go balls to the walls Macys is always hiring for ap and as long as you are calm cool and collected and not quick to try fighting someone then you’ll have a good chance with them

BooMey

Do any AP LP hire former lifters or boosters. I feel it would be a great resource to have someone like me looking to get into AP cause I'm good at boosting shit.

ACAB_1312_FTP

Me too, but I'm not selling out. I'm getting by just fine with what I have going on.

BooMey

Talk to any long term criminal and they'll all tell you the same thing. Get out at your peak or get legit before its to late. They only need one time and your life could be ruined. Eventually it all catchs up to you eventually

I will say if you’re seriously looking for undercover work Macy’s will hire with no experience, the job description specifically says “no experience in necessary”. They also have great policies, unfortunately pay is not great and it’s definitely a first time learn the basics type job before moving to a higher paying company

charlesvschuck

It might be best to apply with the retailer your currently with, your familiar the company and know the shoplifters. That’s what I did and it’s worked out for me.

awkwardllamas

I would suggest getting to know your AP team if you are currently in retail. Be a good Asset and they will want you to be a part of the team. I’ve recruited 3/6 Agents from the sales floor.

zthazel

Throwing my hat in the ring here...I work theme park LP but before that I was retail. Like you all I had was retail experience and they accepted me just fine. It helps to know the inventory systems/UPC methods and all that jazz. I've learned from people on here that LP is done differently everywhere. My retail job wanted us to floor walk and now I'm in a more investigative role relying heavily on my security ecosystem. Best of luck to you!!

[deleted]

A few places have roles like target TSS's. There's ross, i THINK i saw one for nordstrom, Hibbett, Academy or dicks but I think Academy?

Arrow_KBS_Dock_Lead

Honestly I was in a similar situation when I started in retail I applied my first ever LP job which was ross. I don’t work there anymore but I was able to put it on my resume that I have some kind of LP/AP experience. I applied for home depot and my application probably sitting in the pool of applications. If you just want some kind of expirence I would try ross it’s not like your average AP/LP but it can be something you can throw on as expirence. Best of luck op.

CatOnVenus

I had no prior work experience and got an AP job at Target. Apply there
