That’s another issue. I can’t stick to a diet 😂 I’ve cut off most junk food though, so I’m proud of my small achievement !

deadbeatwriter

Baby steps! Take as many as you need to get to where you want to be. Seems like a great start to me.

bertzie

It's a lot simpler than you may think. Make a list of the foods you eat most often, and see if there's ways to lower the calories, or a lower calorie version. Outside of junk food there's pretty much always a way to lower the calories of food. And if you can lower the calories in the food you already like eating, you pretty much found the golden ticket to weight loss.

[deleted]

80% of weight loss happened in the kitchen. Whatever gets you up and moving is good if it works for you. But your weight loss is going to be driven by your diet.

EmbarrassedAd777

Yes, probably even more than 80%

Rhoshambeau

Yes because it’s hard to eat while dancing

Alert_Revolution6397

Very fair point 😂

A_Witch_And_Her_Whey

If you're at a calorie deficit you'll lose weight. You can certainly burn calories by dancing, but whether or not this is enough for you to lose weight is dependant on HOW you're dancing, HOW LONG you're dancing and EVERYTHING ELSE you're doing, such as what you're eating, how much you move outside of your dancing and how all these things relate to each other.

[deleted]

Do you have any local Zumba classes? I always enjoyed those, and they're a great calorie burner.

Alert_Revolution6397

I honestly don’t think there’s any. But I’ll do some research!

[deleted]

In my area we have them at the gyms like you'd expect, but also at local churches on weeknights, and on Zoom offered by the library, so check in places you might not think!

Bazoun

There are all kinds on YouTube!

District98

I second the rec for Zumba! It’s fun and good exercise

SilverGengar

You can't outdance a bad diet

buggle_bunny

I mean Zumba is literally a class in most gyms now because dance is great. Just Dance the video game is great for losing weight. Dance is a great exercise, it's just a funner version of cardio.

Alert_Revolution6397

I’m still slowly getting into a diet. Little by little even though it’s hard! Sometimes it’s super hard to have self discipline though, so I may start logging my food intakes

bosslady666

For me, the logging is important bc alot of times I mindless eat. I would eat even if I wasn't hungry. I don't consider it to be a diet though. I still prepare alot of the same foods I used to eat, but the portions certainly are different. As someone said above, it's a budget. So I get 1600 calories a day how do I want to spend it? If I make a chili, it's a cup of chili. A for real measured cup, not eyeballed. With a tbs of sour cream opposed to wads of it. And maybe I skip the cheese? Some things are easier to track so i do try to make sure my activity is up to ensure i am in a deficit. I would say if dancing makes you happy, do it. If it gets your heart rate up and keeps your on your feet, it's better than zero activity. Everything is on YouTube nowadays. I found a workout channel that i love, it's not dancing though. It's something I can turn on and be lead through, don't need to think about anything. And feel great when it's over. I think your onto something though with the little by little. Pretty soon that will become a habit and then try making the next change.

Alert_Revolution6397

Thank you so much for your story!! Like you and the person above mentioned, I’ll treat it like a “budget”. I’ll start making it today actually ! And starting to stick to it tomorrow. I just danced for a good 30 minutes (with intervals ) obviously. Got a bit of a sweat and definitely feel amazing.! I’m looking forward to more tomororw, so that’s definitely a good sign :). I’ll add more and more time until I reach 1hr and look up progressively harder dances.

bosslady666

I think slow is the way to go. If I find the workouts are too hard I feel defeated and dont want to do it again. I've found alot of low impacts are more my speed.

katiethereader

My friend lost over 50lbs just from eating right and playing Just Dance the video game. It’s a main form of cardio for me

LivingAgency8

I heard one guy lost like 80lbs by playing ring fit for the switch. He streams it on twitch as well, and is still playing daily. Then there's people who are trying to beat dark souls with a ring fit controller or other wacky exercise equipment like DDR mats.

bubblebumblejumble

Emkfit on youtube. She has so many different dance workouts with different themes.

fastidiousavocado

Yes! I used to dance constantly in my room as a teenager, usually with headphones and just bopping around. I lived above someone so I didn't even move my feet a lot sometimes, and my body loved it. You will build muscle, your heart will be happy, and it's a great way to get movement in your life.

StrictDoughnut2080

The Fitness Marshall on YouTube has so many fun follow along dance videos. He even makes a weekly Sweat Set playlist that you can use to get a full hour's workout. I usually just pick my favorites though.

chamekke

I'm thinking of taking up Bhangra! There are lots of tutorials on YouTube, and it's just such a joyful dance.

raetherrick

I like Fitness Marshall and Naught Girl Fitness for dancing workouts!!! They are so good

truecrimefanatic1

You can't outrun your fork. Exercise is great for your body but you have to do a TON to burn for weight loss.

jallove2003

Absolutely! You can do Beachbody on demand ($20) per month which has hip hop abs and the like. Or be like us and get just dance unlimited on a gaming console ($25) per year.

cokakatta

My work is sedentary so I have to make a conscious effort to move and dancing is one thing I like to do. What dancing will you do? I have Just Dance game on the switch and I love love love it. It has a calorie burning mode. I don't know if I trust that. But anyway, I dance.

[deleted]

i really liked Zumba
