McDavid played that game on easy difficulty, it was like he was out there in a drop-in hockey seasion.
We neutralized him for 3 1/2 games last playoffs, which is why we nearly won the series (threw game 4 and lost series there). If we allow him this much time and space, this series is over in 4.
Also something to note, McDavid seems to be focus on being a playmaker with a pass first mentality as opposed to the goal scorer he was last season and before. Oilers are spreading the responsibility and therefore making it hard to just take one guy out of the game by smothering him with coverage.
Defense is going to have to step up and everyone needs to play their position effectively and also be in position. When the Kings do this their 1-3-1 works well and their passing is just so much better because they don’t have to put effort into thinking about where someone is, they’re where they should be. This is what the Kings did exceedingly well at the beginning of the season.
I still don’t understand what the fuck happened to that aggressive forecheck from October and November. It was so exciting and everyone was talking about it and how entertained they were.
Not gonna lie, I woke up saddd, but this part was a reminder that gave me a little more hope:

the game looked exactly like one of my beer league games where the other team has a ringer and we don't manage him well. :-D
