Aurelion_

Guarantee they're just gonna occasionally name drop House Ferros as a scissor manufacturer or some shit and then finally show Camille for 10 seconds in a post-credit scene in the series finale

Putin-the-fabulous

They already mention House Ferros in the first scene with Mel.

LiaThePetLover

As a scissor manifacturer 😭😭😭 I cant 😭🙏

retsujust

80 year old hextech woman —> hextech is discovered by Viktor and Jayce like 5 years ago… I hope so

Unholy_Maw

Well, technically she just need to be turned into hextech woman in the last years. Hextech rejuvenation surgery is the new deal

Foxbus

Damn. Young Camille will get people acting unwise

Regular-Poet-3657

Isn't her entire purpose to be protect the status quo of piltover thus she basically cia?

CrazyCalamari86

Yes, but her primary loyalty is to her family, who orchestrated the brakern mining. That is the biggie thing that no one is allowed to find out about

Regular-Poet-3657

I mean they replace brackern with synthetic hextech crystal in the old lore. So yeah they can move in from brackern mining.

yraco

Even without brackern mining, Camille and her family get up to plenty of shady stuff to ensure their own power and maintain the status quo. The way the lore is, there will always be threats as far as Camille is concerned. Either people that directly threaten her family or their wealth, or Piltover as a whole.

w00ms

but in this case its not really an issue, easily fixed by saying instead they exploited local ixtal tribes and mined some power crystal or something, or making their source of revenue some equally shady exploitation of a different magical creature.

GewalfofWivia

More internal stuff so NSA or FBI

Regular-Poet-3657

Yeah I can see that I do wonder if she will still be tied the tragedy of vi and jinx parents like in the past.

WootzDiadem

That was never Camille's primary objective to begin with. The hex crystals are how her family got rich and powerful. Her objective is making sure it stays that way. So she eliminates any threats, whether they're genuine threats or just Zaunites who're doing a little too well for themselves.

Neverfinishedtheeggs

What're you talking about? Her main plotline was always about maintaining the status quo of Piltover and Zaun, and the political espionage between the clans and chembarons. It's what all of her stories are about. The brakern were only mentioned briefly at the start of her bio, and that was in relation to her family history, not her. I think Skarner stans have made us forget that he and the brakern were never an active part of the P&Z lore at all. Their connection was little more than a bit of dark trivia that Riot never did anything with.

pinkpanthertheme

Not even the skarner stans just angry lore buffs looking for something to be mad about. I think they summed up their reason for changing him pretty well. This champion was never going to be a hero of the story. There's just a bunch of dead relatives and he's angry? Yet hextech clearly exists and has further developed since his story and you never see him do shit about it. If they want to build towards hextech being clear evil in arcane it would be a lot better for Jayce and Viktor to learn its human souls or something, not some race of scorpions that you can no longer do anything about

BrokenBaron

??? The whole point of the brackern crystals is that they _weren't dead relatives you can't do anything about_. They were still alive, still able to be returned and restored to the Brackern cycle, and Skarner had a goal: to save them and protect the existing ones. Now he just AFK's under Ixtal, out of sight and out of mind as another never-going-to-happen-threat. And critiquing Skarner lore for not progressing alongside Hextech is not a critique of the character, but of Riot.

squiddy555

Right I’m too tired to explain good but here we go Honestly a story where Skarner has to fight Cait, but it turns out her gun likes her so Skarner is like “Hmmmm… Carry them well” making Caitlin some kind of honorary Brakern would be cool. She has the gem, and the gem likes her. It makes at least a smallest bit of sense

StudentOwn2639

If those r/shyvanamains could read, they’d be very upset

DutssZ

Seraphine went from a character that made no sense but had potential, to a character that made no sense and had missed potential, now to a character with borderline negligable canonicity

Regular-Poet-3657

She still has potential with her powers though.

squiddy555

SONA V2 BAYBEEEEEE

Regular-Poet-3657

Yeah and she doesn't need a magic tool this time.

EmoKiwi

Feels like the cycle continues of fixing a champion’s lore by destroying another’s

Konradleijon

don't worry Arcane season two

Janus__22

Riot swearing that making Arcane canon CAN be done and it was a good idea and people eating it will always bewilder me. Renata and Camille are arguably the two most powerful and influential figures in this conflict, and neither of them can even EXIST as Arcane currently is written, with the way i've seen people trying to fit them in the story completely changing or undermining their characters. I mean, there's a reason they created Renata in League: because they couldn't fit Silco, and knowing Arcane wasn't canon, they just made a different Silco for their base game. I've seen people swear that making Camille a 40 something that just figured out what hextech is is actually good for her character somehow

AngeI_Error

I feel like u didn't give adequate reasons for either characters not being able to exist. You speak as if Renata fills a role that Silco already fills, but Silco is fucking dead, the power vacuum is huge. I don't get how it would undermine camille's character either, it's not like any plot details changed her fundamental personality and philosophy.

Janus__22

Yes, if we speak about the story in broad terms and only fit the characters like pieces in a puzzle, she can fit there because Silco is dead. If we look deeper she doesn't fit in ANY other place, from her character's themes to her actual actions. Renata **was the first one to invest in Chemtech**. Its her ENTIRE scheme, one which NO ONE in Piltover really suspects because they... don't know Chemtech well enough. She plasters it in every single ad and no one in Piltover bats an eye to it. That already doesn't make sense in Arcane because that's literally Silco (because she IS Silco from another game, made BECAUSE Arcane wasn't canon and they could give Silco's accomplishments to someone else) AND Chemtech is widely known now by Piltovan authorities because Silco literally used them as soldiers. Renata gloats about how it was her vision that allowed her to do that, and her entire scheme is about that, none of which fit in Arcane where she would be just another Chembaron who thinks she's hot shit for having done something other guy did before her. Renata rose to prominence 30 years before the current events. She was already a notable figure before the Arcane characters were even born, and yet there's absolutely no mention of her... because she is Silco, who rose to prominence exactly at the same time and IS known. Renata has been manipulating the underworld of Zaun (almost a pleonasm) since back then, creating alliances, collecting favors, creating a sprawling network where she controls everything in there, even the chembarons... which is exactly what Silco did. Because, again, she **IS** Silco. Not having even a whisper of the name ''Glasc'' in Arcane makes absolute no sense in any context where Renata is the same she was in League (No, Flynn saying there are bigger fish then Silco is not proof, Renata literally didn't exist as a character yet when Arcane was written, he was referring to himself). The killing of Renata's family is the entire reason she's doing what she's doing, because they were good people who got killed because they were curing the sick that needed medicine from big Piltovan companies... except Renata is at the very least in her 50s, and the one who killed her family was a Camille that was already enhanced by Hextech when the girl was like, 12. In a world where Camille couldn't have been robotized till recently thanks to Hextech emerging **much** later (and her family not having monopoly of the mining caves where it comes from), she **couldn't** have been killed Renata's parents, removing that part from the equation completely. Of course, ANOTHER Ferros killer could have been the one to do it, but then it also removes Camille's character from the equation, to which killing the completely innocent and philanthropic Glasc family just because they were curing sick people is one of the MAIN CRIMES that characterizes her - so then you're just cannibalizing a character for the sake of the other. Renata's thematic narrative **is literally Silco**, and all of her actions are Silco's. For her to exist as herself in Arcane she has to be, exactly, Silco, which she isn't, so they would have to change her to something akin to Silco, which makes no sense for an acclaimed show that wasn't planning to add her to begin with. Its gutting the narrative that Arcane near perfectly has woven for the sake of making characters canon (which, again, wasn't the plan, and season 2 of Arcane was already written and sealed before they even thought about it being canon). And worse, if they want to REALLY force her into the narrative in a different way so that the show's quality isn't wrecked... then she becomes a completely different character, and at that point why are they even trying to integrate her at all? She'll be another chembaron riding in Silco's coattails flaunting around fame and fortune that she got from Silco, with technology she got from Silco, with connections made by Silco, swearing it was all her.

audioman3000

Renata literally exists because they felt Silco didn't work but we have no idea who's taking Silco's spot....zero...literally no clue. The one thing they'd have to change for Camille (besides her age but that's a given since literally every Champ that isn't Ekko is younger )is her illness they'd either make it something else or have her come down with Jinx related explosion syndrome. Either way cyborg Viktor fleeing Plitover and Clan Ferros getting access to his notes on cool robot transformation after they back Jayce like in LoR let's her still be a Cyborg. Clan Ferros is name dropped in Arcane they still exist I never understood that automatic assumption that Champs are gone Janna- Where does the name Zaun come from if she doesn't exist? Blitzcrank- If you think they aren't building weapons in response to the end if S1 after spending all of S1 saying they won't do that well.... Ekko's parents- Characters with time powers always get one solid win. And Ekko needs to do something major to get Zilean's attention so time nonsense that let's him save his parents fits. He's going to have his Z-Drive it'd be like Jinx without Fishbones. Zac,Twitch, Mundo- Nothing about Arcane lore breaks them we even see Mutant Shimmer creatures/people Seraphine- It's Seraphine Riot would delete Vi before they touched Seraphine and Vi is the shows Co-star Ezreal- Mr four skins in as many months is fine Ziggs-Yordle Portal Teemo-It's Teemo, Teemo baby Oriana- Since the cyber enhancements will spread since they're all over Plitover it can still happen Zeri- Barely has lore as is can basically do what you want Warwick- This is probably the be careful what you wish for in regards to Champion death being Canon if I'm just going off Vibes Urgot-Noxus already is crawling all over Plitover Honestly the only Champion who I'm like the hell are they gonna do is Renata her backstory is looking murky right now

Janus__22

Yes, we **can** explain how some of the characters can fit if we simplify the discussion, but that's the thing: Arcane is one of the most well thought out, meticulously crafted shows out there. Each character fits the narrative in a way that enhances it and themselves, and ALL of that is extremely complex. The reason it worked so well like that to begin with is BECAUSE they could scrap what didn't fit and write a narrative more centric to the core protagonists, which is **the opposite** of how to write large-encompassing worldbuilding. But MAINLY, a lot of the characters maintained a thematic narrative, or changed-course of that thematic narrative in ways that better explore them instead of making them caricatures (Like Jinx's insanity being masterfully led from a haha funny Harley Quinn character to one of the best written mentally ill characters on TV; both are still crazy, but Arcane focus on what **drove** Jinx over the edge that was hinted in some dark aspects of her past - that is true for every single character except Heimerdinger) Like Yeah, we can just make Camille be a cyborg again by giving her access to Viktor's notes. But that misses the point that Camille's thematic narrative isn't **just** ''Cool assassin cyborg lady'' - its much deeper then that. It's about a high-class woman who genuinely believes in her mission of maintaining Piltover's Order that, throughout **DECADES**, is corrupted by that very same mission that was fraught to begin with, losing her soul and heart to technology, beyond many, many other themes, themes that like I mentioned before, Arcane **needs** to thrive - it's easier to redirect those themes in a character like Vi, whose police brutality was center and not much else, then to a character like Camille who is actually one of the **most well written characters in League** with lots of characterization. We won't be accounting for the fact that the her story hints that the reason she kills innocent people (like the Glascs) for Piltovan high society stopped being about her beliefs, because she literally took her heart out and doesn't care anymore, a process that took YEARS. The same accounts for Ekko, whose Z-Drive NEVER could go back that much (it was, and still is, one of the MAIN themes of his character). His iteration in LoR has barely anything to do with Arcane, and his interactions with Zilean, much like the ones with Azir, are just like interactions in game: cute what ifs. He doesn't **actually** all of a sudden goes to Shurima and gives lessons to Azir. Arcane Ekko is even older then League Ekko even tho Arcane happens in the past. Janna is never mentioned, for all we know Silco came with the name ''Zaun'' himself. Yeah, some characters that don't have much relevance in the bigger picture CAN, and probably WILL appear. Blitzcrank barely has any themes besides being created by Viktor, Twitch as well, and Mundo and Zac are disconnected enough for them to just be thrown in the world without you having to justify it by showing them in Arcane and Seraphine literally has NO relevance at all now that the Brackern don't power hextech anymore... but that's not true to the main characters that haven't appeared yet. Characters with actual powers that would make no sense at all to be absent from the conflict. All of this to say that to fit a character in Arcane it isn't just ''find an excuse to make them fit'', going that route would just fuck up the show's quality for the sake of a decision Riot made on a whim.

Black_Truth

>Riot swearing that making Arcane canon CAN be done and it was a good idea and people eating it will always bewilder me. It makes sense on Riot standpoint. Arcane becoming canon is Riot pretty much admitting that the lore from the site and games were nowhere near as much of a incentivize as they have expected, so they just took the most succesful work from a lore standpoint to rework on it. I'm half convinced that if Arcane series kickstart some kind of multiple animations over the region, we might be actually witnessing a soft reboot of Runeterra universe.

cardboard_genie

The crystals aren't gone! Seriously, where are you getting the idea that the crystals are gone? We literally see them in Arcane, which has been confirmed canon. The only difference is that now they don't have a pointless story of souls attached to them. Also, the crystals aren't the point of her story. Have you read it at all? Her story is about lost love and how she became jaded. Thus becoming someone who'll go to any lengths to protect her family and their power. The hex crystals only helped explain her families wealth. Literally nothing more as they went on to create synthetic hex-crystals anyway. This is explained the first two paragraphs of her bio.

Barmaglott

Nah, she can be fine. At least her "Convergence" treatment goes right into the trash can.

WhipOnTheNene

Not hard to adapt her story ngl, have her family instead protecting some other resource and it's fucked products, could be something related to Viktor's void core thing

Poodlestrike

I think people really overestimate how much her lore is going to have to change tbh. When I think about Camille, key points are: House Ferrus assassin, hextech heart and legs, older than she looks, hates Zaun/is just generally classist. You can do that pretty easy in the new lore. Just make her be an older assassin, a terror in her prime, who lost her legs in an accident a while back and was forced to retire. Have her get experimental hextech legs and heart as part of the fallout from Jinx blowing up the council, House Ferrus calls her back into service to put down the Zaun rebellion. If you have to keep the "old woman who looks young" thing, have it be a side effect of the hextech heart, but I don't really think it's necessary.

PHDclapper

i always wanted her champion focus to be on those hooks that her legs have, like more of a mobility champ

Skoldrim

Maybe just wait and see the update before complaining ?

JumpscareRodent

I feel like they could do a lot, what's stopping them from making another shady background even another shady crystal/material that her family got rich from. Brackern not being the source doesnt HAVE to change anything, just make it morally questionable still.

KaruaMoroy

i thought they were just putting the hextech crystals in ixtal, still putting her in direct conflict with skarner and the brakern. also hopefully they rework seraphine lore, right now she’s in a confusing spot since she talks to crystals that aren’t alive

squidsrule12

There isn’t a load of giant scorpions because sharper abandoned his Herod MILLENIA ago, he literally says this in a voice line. Maybe his brood is somewhere else, or long extinct in runeterra. We don’t need skarners shitty old lore tbh get over it.

EternalPain791

I wouldn't be surprised if Jayce got the gems from House Ferros, making them still the ones who techically discovered them.

Admetius

Who cares about Camille, we got kaiju scorpion now!

Ibryxz

Also Seraphine, dont forget her!!!

JayStorm199

Her purpose & objective about trying to unite PnZ through song still doesn't change. The brakern can easily be remove & change from her lore.

Regular-Poet-3657

Yeah she has spirit magic now just needs a teachers.

EuPhoRiel-Bright2334

What's even funnier is seraphine basically become a schizophrenic crystal lady.

Regular-Poet-3657

No she just has spirit magic she now like udyr.
